I'm so excited to get my Columbine seeds winter sown! Which varieties of Columbine do you have in your garden? Or will you be planting some Columbine in your garden this year? I'd love to know! 😊🌸
Hi Melissa! I love Columbine as well. It's hard to find such a pretty flower that thrives in shade. Next year, I'm planning to "shop" my plant nursery and plant Columbine in more areas of my yard. 😊🪻💞
Hi Carla. They sure are a welcome flower in spring! Two years ago they hardly sold in my plant nursery because they weren't blooming but then last year they were a huge hit when they were blooming. As soon as the blooms faded, a few people still bought plants but nothing like the spring rush. I'd like to get seeds of different colored ones just to add to my inventory since I mostly have different shades of either purple or pink. 😊🌸
I have mixed color columbine that I winter sowed a few years ago. It'is planted in an area of dappled sun next to my gravel driveway. The summer before last I noticed new pants growing right in the gravel. I was surprised they would grow there. I transplanted them back into the garden and they flowered beautifully last summer. I'm not sure if I'll WS anymore this year but I dd save seeds. Thanks again for the video.
Hi Maureen. You're very welcome! I told myself I wouldn't WS any Columbine seeds this year since I have plenty of plants, but then I figured - why not. I'm planning to shop my nursery and plant a bunch in different areas of my yard, so between that and selling some, I"ll need to replenish my supply. But yes, they definitely seed themselves around so you can dig freebie plants and move them as needed. 😊🌸
I’m going to need to get some Columbine seed. It’s one I have now sown…I had it in my head it would be a tricky one….but sounds like it’s an easy. 👍. P.S. - I think green is your color.
Yes definitely give Columbine a try! You can't beat this plant in the spring and especially in areas with shade. Thanks so much about the green. I love wearing hats outside to protect my face from the sun. I love wearing hats indoors to cover my grays and to somewhat hide the wrinkles on my face. 😅🌸🧢
Hi John! You need to give Columbine a try! Most of the ones that I have face downwards but I'm pretty sure there are some varieties that have their faces pointing up. Such a lovely springtime flower! Happy New Year to you and your family as well, friend! 😊🌼
@ thank you! Some day we’ll have to meet half way and have lunch. Are you familiar with the book Gardenways, The Joy of Gardening?, by Dick Raymond? A lot of great information with some fun gardening projects. Like how to grow a pumpkin with someone’s name grown into it or how to grow a cucumber in a bottle.

I’m starting columbines for the first time with winter sowing! I have a giant blend. They’ve always been one of my favorite plants ❤

Hi Colleen. You're so welcome! Winter sowing is so much fun. I am trying to limit myself to a handful of milk jugs a day. 😅🌱

I'm trying pink petticoat this year.
I just looked up a picture of the pink petticoat columbine. That looks super pretty! 🦋
