I am 5b eastern Canada, Prince Edward Island. I never had any luck starting larspur, until I just put the seed in the refrigerator for a week or so and then just scattered the seed on a tray. I bottom watered and then put the tray in a black plastic bag and set it directly on the cold basement floor. I also placed another tray on top to be sure they were in total darkness. All the seed came up in about 2 weeks. I then moved them under gro lights until they were big enough to prick out. COLD AND DARK
Perennials will always be the backbone of your garden together with flowering shrubs, and of course, limelight hydrangeas. I would never waste my time trying to start eucalyptus. Instead, I grow many plants of false Baptisia more so for the foliage than the actual blooms. The foliage last me the whole season. The best foliage for the fall I have always found is mahogany splendour but I’m sure you’re already growing these plants happy gardening.
Hi Christina, love watching your videos! Looking forward to watching lisianthus video. Tried them once with no luck. Only green algae grew lol. So I'm hoping to learn from you.I'm really excited about the new varieties at Johnny's seeds, especially ballerina zinnia. I was lucky to win that along with the other zinnias and celosia you ordered. By watching their webinar video you automatically were entered in their contest to win them. I was so excited to win and can't wait to plant them. Zinnias are my favorite flower. Wishing you tremendous success for your store and garden!
I know that this is not a popular thought, but I totally manhandle my snaps. I roll the seeds between my fingers and how they land they grow in my seed trays. When they are still small (maybe only an inch tall) I pull them apart and plant them outside, basically bare root and rough housed. They grow fine, in fact they grow fabulous. I will never do one seed at a time, it's not necessary. It's worth testing this with a few because it sure saves a lot of headache.
Yay - seeds! I'm trying some new flower seeds this year for my garden, after seeing how pretty they look on flower farmers' videos: mahogany splendor hibiscus, feverfew, cranberry and white puff double click cosmos, dichondra silver falls, red amaranth, celway celosia, and white marigolds. I'm giving heliotrope and bunny tails grass another try - have never had luck with them from seed. Happy New (seed) Year!
The new varieties from Johnnys all look so awesome! Can't wait to see those. I tried growing green and purple tomatillos last summer and they both did really well! Lots of fruit from both! Very easy.
For larkspur, I put the seeds in the freezer for a week before I sow them. I'm able to direct sow in the fall (when it cools down) and they sprout even when it's cold (near frost). I found them a bit slow to start. In full sun they did well. I grow the Early Sunrise also, so pretty, great summer colors. I'm thinking of starting some late for fall blooms (crossing my fingers). I plant out all my snaps in the fall (I'm a zone 8), definitely an experiment to plant out later starts.
The lunchbox peppers from Johnny's are great. I've grown them for a few years and love them. My only complaint is for some reason the red variety is consistently smaller in size than the yellow and orange even when grown next to each other in the same conditions. Would be interesting to see if you also experience that. Have fun!!!!
It’s always so fun to watch other gardening zones…!! I started Lisianthus back in September and already in the ground for my zone 9a garden🌸🌸 finicky little things but worth the 8 month commitment 😳😳
It's like having a baby. I'm in the "second trimester" with lizzie seedlings still indoors. Some planted out in the fall but the bulk are going out in very early spring.
I always love these videos! The reason I don’t grow eucalyptus is because I have cats and eucalyptus, even the scent and the oils, is very toxic (worse than most other “toxic“ plants) for cats and dogs and while the cats that I have now (unlike previous furbabies that have passed) don’t mess with flowers, it’s just not worth the risk. But I do love it, especially the “seeded” eucalyptus. I would love to try plugs of lisianthus but I don’t need a large quantity so I find the plugs expensive due to the quantity. You should try sun gold cherry tomatoes. Excellent flavor and very easy to grow. Also early girl is as it name indicates, faster to ripen and tastes very good. Not sure if you can get seeds though because I think I looked for them a couple of months back and I couldn’t find seeds. I grew it for the first time last summer as I ended up supplementing my seed started tomatoes with a few store bought tomato plants in hopes of getting earlier harvest. I have the new Ballerina and Aurora zinnia and the Shimmer celosia seeds from Johnny’s, too! 😊. They reminded me a bit of the Floret zinnias and at least they are cheaper, although I would have bought more Floret seeds if I could have.
I have a question concerning heated plant mats. Once your seeds have germinated to you continue using the plant mats? Always watch and listen to videos! Good luck on the shop.
I grow Larkspur in milk juds, no problem. When I grow it indoors, I put seeds in refridgerator for 2 weeks then plant them in trays. They do fine also. Im in zone 5b in PA. Hope this helps. p pA
Hi Christina thanks for sharing love your videos so informative! Would you be willing to share what type of microphone you use for filming your videos?
Make sure you plant at least two tomitillo plants! They need a second plant to pollinate. I planted 2 this year and lost one to critters, so I never got any fruit. 😢
Unrelated question for anyone who can assist…my son gave me an assorted box of tulip, daffodil, etc bulbs for Christmas. I live in zone 5B, southern Iowa. Should get them in the ground now or wait until next fall? Will they have time to build for blooms if I plant now?

Christina, I learned about Geo Seeds from your channel a couple years ago and I order all my seeds from them now. Thank you for sharing all your tips!

Great varieties! You’ll love the MS Hibiscus
Can't wait to see the bouquets with the new flowers, they should be beautiful.
Thanks Christina! Girl, you are unstoppable! So impressed with your drive. Adding veggies to the mix now! Keep it going. You're an inspiration!

I ordered the pink snap too

Love all the color choices! Cant wait to see bouquets!
Just an FYI, SeedsNSuch carries multiple varieties of the Chef's Choice tomato seeds. They have a sale of 25% off now till 1/5!
Ooh! Thanks!
I have a question concerning heated plant mats. Once your seeds have germinated to you continue using the plant mats? Always watch and listen to videos! Good luck on the shop.
Nope! You can take them off the heat mat once you have good germination throughout your whole tray
I direct sowed larkspur once and they’ve come back every year! Throw them in the ground at 55 degree temps, Lisa MZ says the dont transplant.
I grow Larkspur in milk juds, no problem. When I grow it indoors, I put seeds in refridgerator for 2 weeks then plant them in trays. They do fine also. Im in zone 5b in PA. Hope this helps.

When will you plant out your later snaps? I’m trying them this year for the first time in zone 5b.
Love your videos! Congrats on the new store!
Most likely late May
