Great video Phily! My mother was the Christmas Tree volunteer - it's become a traditional Christmas parkrun outfit in our household!! Great video - love the Christmas grind :)
Well done! Did my first Parkrun, Congleton, on Christmas Day, 22:07. 5k PB by over a minute and a great way to sign off the year. I got beat by a bloke in a full snowman outfit!!!
Really glad I stumbled on your channel Philly. After gaining a pile of weight after an ankle break last year your attitude gave me the confidence I still have a spring marathon in me.
Congrats on the time! I still haven't done a ParkRun, but someday :) I was the guy complaining about my back in the last comment section, so I missed my Christmas run(we had an extreme blizzard anyway), but I did my first run back today and I feel good!
Congrats on the new course record. Signed the petition. Also joined the Covid club a couple of weeks before xmas, been doing a 1 mile symbolic run the past two days to get back into it
Paused to sign. Love the enthusiasm while I lay in bed on a Sat sleep in New Year's Eve drinking espresso before my long run in a NZ summer. Been hot all week.
AMazing video just started watching you recently and ur so inspiring hope u achieve ur dreams I will be following ur journey keep up the amazing work!!
Congrats Philly!!! Love the Christmas grind too!!!😉Happy new year to you both!!! All the absolute very best for 2023-may all your dreams for the year come true, & don’t forget to have a ton of fun along the way!!!
Nice job breaking the record - I can only dream of going sub 24 min :) I used to volunteer at my local Park Run (I cycled there) but soon realised that aside from promoting the health benefits for those that may not run, far too many runners were driving to and from the event, which for me defeats the purpose of your message here - driving X miles to run 3 miles seems a bit pointless - for those that have no issues with motivation, just start at home and run 5k, no need to do it at a Park Run where driving there offsets any potential benefits, not to mention the irony of asking for cleaner air!
Wuhay! We're around the same speed! If you get the opportunity, I'd recommend Southampton and Fareham Parkrun near where I live. Southampton has huge numbers every week, and it's very pretty. Fareham is all gravel, but it's way more interesting than your average out-and-back course.
Beating a local parkrun course record sounds really fun, i currently run 19:50 but my course record is 14:44! I feel like its never gonna be broken it's so fast!
I watched the Failure (Ducks) video and now this one. Look forward watching more and have subscribed. well done. Have you done a drills video yet? I will check the list
Wicked content as ever Phily, looking forward to seeing you smash it in 23! Also, that NB top at the end is Niiiccceee! Do you know if it is available to mere mortals!??
Congratulations on getting the Chippenham parkrun record. It's not every day you show up at a parkrun event that you never ran at and take the parkrun record.
Also ran my first Christmas Day parkrun this year. It turned out to be an anti-progressive run. Every Km slower than the last. Struggled for breath and everything else. It will come again. Well done on your effort Phily 👌
Funnily enough I said to someone at our Christmas Day parkrun, I was RD btw, how I'd love it if Philly Bowden came and ran here, Stevenage, and blew away the field in the run that's not a race of course. Now you've moved to Manchester I guess it's not on the cards. 17-29 is the current course record for ladies held by Annabel Gunmow, just saying, 74ft of elevation according to my Garmin too.
Well done Phily! Parkrun really is for everyone, including future Olympians! I made the mistake of setting a big course PB on Christmas Eve, meaning I took it a bit easier on Christmas Day itself.
@PhilyBowden, it would be great if you posted the kit you use under your videos. In particular, as someone who overheats quickly, the vented top looks great and I would be grateful if you would tell me what the make and model is so I can look for one. Thank you. #LoveTheGrind. Might even do a Christmas parkrun myself this year.

I’ve put just over 10,000 mi (16,000 km) on my car since Aug 2019 (3+ years). That’s less than the yearly average I think. I love to car pool if possible, but also just don’t need to drive much with a remote job. Got the car back in my last year of college and could get basically everywhere on foot except the drive back to my hometown.
