It's Race Day Baby! Went all the way to Schoorl, in the Netherlands to gatecrash the Dutch 10K Road championships with my marathon partner in crime Jip Vastenberg. We were testing out our legs after being at altitude and to see where our fitness is at. This marks the start of the marathon block and I'm excited for you to see what other races I have planned before I run the big 26.2!

Daniel should be introduced into team NB as the official cheerleader, best in the business hands down
There are “speciality” stores that should have his size. In fake leather.
I like this idea!
That was fascinating to hear the detail you went into after the race! Much more than we typically get to hear from a regular media interview.
After a few weeks of avoiding running content while getting myself out of an injury/illness enforced break, this was the perfect way to reignite my love for the grind
Thank you I’m glad you found it interesting! It’s just us having our usual post race chats but with Daniel there holding the camera 😅
Love that! Thank you
Great video with lots of information about the (mental) "process" and always great to see you and Jip together and this time in our country.
I have been runnig again for about 6 months after an around 5 year break and have done nothing but long and "slow" work since I started again.
It is really annoying to have no topspeed at all right now, knowing I will have some mid distance track races in a couple of months.
This week I had my first "speedsession" on spikes and it was horrible, but I have to trust the "process" and trainer that it will all work out when it has to.
I have no doubt you and Jip will be in the right shape at the right time.
The analysis at the end was really good to listen to, thank you Phily
Daniel’s back on the camera… b-roll quality is top notch. Nice 👍

It's important to feel the sadness and angst, it will make the PRs all that much sweeter knowing you kept going. You ran great on a race that was not your A-race. That's awesome!! You're an inspiration 🌻
I'm also glad to hear that even people at your level get nerves before a checkup-have-fun race!! I definitely feel that too 😬
Thank you so much, this is exactly how I feel about it now, another one done!
I hope you enjoyed our little country!
V well done to both you and Jip - try not to be so hard on urself Philly - remember what u said this was a race u wanted to do pressure free - u still had a gr8 run and with negative splits - just becoz it was a race/event doesn’t mean ur always going to smash it out the park and that doesn’t always mean ur not in good shape - just treat it as a hard effort training run in prep for ur next race/event ❤
Great race! Funny to see myself at 16:08 was to shy to talk to you..
You are upset by running a 10k faster than I run a 5k. True competitor!
Love the self realisation and the non comparison chat at the end, well done
Thank you for showing the process ! average runners like me are very impressed of course :-)
great effort out there!
Thanks dude!
Your content is amazing. And you are so humble really are. Never change! Love from a runner who has a hamstring niggle 8 weeks out from Boston send love please xxx
If you feel the need to back off a little with the training, do it and don’t worry. My Achilles’ tendon got a bit angry with me about four weeks ago so I did a week of solid swimming and weight work. I just didn’t want to make the issue worse. I’m traveling over for New York Half in a few weeks, best of luck with Boston and wishing you a great run 😊
@@andrewharper4296 thank you . im just really panicking x
What he said^^
@Phily Bowden worry I don't run again...or I'm gonna do shit
Amazing time! I'm no way near your level, but I find travel really messes with my events. I've run 29 marathons and last year, I tried to run a marathon after getting back from Mexico 1 week before the race. It went SO badly. It takes me weeks to recover from jetlag for some reason and I ended up just doing the half instead. Don't discount how much travel takes its toll on you individually, just because it doesn't impact one athlete, doesn't mean it won't impact another! Well done :D
29 marathons!!!!
A solid run-out Phily. Don't over analyse your performance too much here- very few hit the ground running off altitude work.
2 wks from now you'll feel better...
You’re exactly right!
You’ve been busy lately with training & travelling. Just give your body time to adjust and we all believe that you’ll be on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well done on a great run, never be downbeat. You're an 👌 runner.
It will come in time.
Loved seeing you race in NL.
The clogs had me dying 😂
They’re amazing aren’t they!
Great focus and execution I reckon.
Great time Phily! And love the analysis after. Is it perhaps Helsinki marathon coming up??
Would love to see her here and cheer!
Well done Philly great run! Onto the next race!
If you ever have a race in Belgium, i will be there supporting!
Peanut butter and hagelslag. Breakfast of champions!
You got Jip's name wrong, as I was Googeling her, it's VastenbUrg. So not a mountain (berg) but a castle (burg). Enjoyed this video once again, I'm on a binge at the moment.
love the race videos!!!
Boy! I wish I could be disappointed with a 10k time of 33:29. Love the hair Philly!
Aw thank you 🙏🏼
Really exciting to see you at our champs Philly! Hopefully I'll soon be able to break your time, ran my debut at 10k at that race in 33:37 :)
You and yip are absolute heros! Ltg
She’s a great energy to have around 🥰
I know that times are relative, but that still seems like a fast time to me, but speculate it might not be what you wanted. I thought the debrief was important after the run to put it into context as a way to look at things more positively, it allows you to move forward and look to improve next time. A good tip for us all maybe?
ROFL for the "bluetooth-enabled spikes"! They look nice and stiff.
So true what when Jip was talking about comparing everyone (in the world!) with instagram/social media
Quote by Theodore Roosevelt: “Comparison is the thief of joy.”
Some days it’s just not your day Phily, go again next time! Well ran anyway, 33 mins is still ridiculous!
Its a marathon not a sprint! COME ON PHILY!!!!
Came here just to hear you say Schoorl :)
Sooo where did Daniel sleep?
I'm a vampire so I don't need sleep 🧛♂😉
Go on Philly !!!! I missed that.
Watching your pitch for those cookies I would say that when you retire from running there's a career for you in tv advertising🙂! Really enjoy your videos, thanks.
hey phily can you please do a video of half marathon plan for the beginner
love your friendship with Jip, your Jipship if you will
Jilly and Phip
my first half marathon race its in 10 weeks
Copenhagen Marathon next? :)
My only 10k at the age of 18 I went out too fast and had a time of 33:25. Plantar fascitis was so bad I could barely walk--ending my career until the US Air Force offered me the re-enlistment job of running track and field in Europe, after I buried US Space Command's one and a half mile annual fitness qualification run's record with a time of 6:47. I didn't take them up with the offer but thanks to the inspiration of following you I plan to try to run under 4:10 in the mile in a year and a half to break the 60 and over record.
Love the race videos and have really missed the COME ON PHILY from Daniel ! Could the marathon be Manchester ?🤔
Not Manchester no 👀
Haha love NL, Albert Heijn is a bit of weird place isn't it, it's like a really posh Coop but with amazing fish selection and you cannot buy a ready made sandwich from there, the spar shops are really quite fancy too
I liked HEMA too - great biscuits!
@@PhilyBowden didn't visit a HEMA, plenty of pubs tho once we'd finished racing, phone died, middle of night got lost from my team middle of Rotterdam shitfaced Dutch police took me home
@@PhilyBowden did you every try beans and bagels
A 2 mile shake out, 3 mile warm up, a 10k & then a 5 mile cool down. 16 mile total.
Is that a normal routine for you Phily when you're racing a 10k ?
Not quite… normally it would be a 2-3 mile cool down, but I’m in a marathon training block now so the 5 mile cool down is due to that!
so where did you finish, what place?
I have my 1st ever 10k coming up in 18 days, I've only just managed my 1st 5k in over a year hahaha. I think im gonna die. I am such a long way off my fittest, my fasted ever 5k was Sub 17 minutes, It is now at just over 32 minutes.
Just subbed enjoyed video but I didn't catch both Yr times?... x
Well what was your time?
3:29 I think
*33
Schoorl 🎉🎉🇳🇱
What marathon is it!!! Ahhhhhh must be London
London is like 10 weeks after this race (this was February 12). So it might be the marathon of Prague, which is exactly 12,5 weeks after this race (May 7th)
Nope - neither, keep guessing!
@@PhilyBowden vienna!!!!
New vid please!!
That sandwich was as big as your head! I want one.
It was brilliant
Give us a heads-up next time you race in Holland, Phily! Give us fans a chance to turn up 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Same next time your racing in the states!
Ah I will! I did put something on my Insta but was pretty last minute!
its pronounced "squirrel" like skwurl. ;)
🐿
You totally missed the chance to title this video "I spent 1 month getting high and then ran a 10k race"...High being altitude! Hashtag clickbait...see what I did there....hashtag....hash...muhahaha...*Stares at hand*
😂😂😂
Like, like, like…
What's the guy doing at 14:25? Why is he touching everyone..?
Yes I noticed that. Creepy stuff!
I think they were supposed to stop striding out and he was trying to get them to go to the start line. Not sure being grabby was the right way to do it but I believe that’s what his intention was!
Yeah he was stopping people from doing strides, the hand signal would’ve been enough for me!
more focus and discipline for running and life and being a top runner and less focus and all that it entails on doing youtube stuff you will succeed as a runner!👍
you seem like a fun person
Jakob Ingebrigtsen also has a UA-cam channel. So in your world he's not successful runner eh..? 😂
@@rahulbarca4112 he has only uploaded 8 videos on his personal channel as his focus has been running! since most of the videos were made 8 years ago. other channels that released material from team ingebrigtsen training have been produced by companies and then he has already become a world class runner
Shut up you plum. Her fella edits for her and she's just videoing what she's doing anyway. Why are you here anyway, irony?
@@robwright1067 why u do mad 🤣
I don't get it. How can you claim to be a pro - with the objective to make it to Paris - but travel without a mask, risking a cold?
She's on a professional running team and ran for the UK.... did I miss the definition of pro needing to include "wearing a mask when no one else does anymore"? confused.
@@coachc2984 beeing a pro means to prepare as good as possible. On and specially off the track.
In the last video PB talks about how important sleep is and that she learned to prioritize it just to risk a cold in the next video and potentially lose weeks of training? That's lazy, that's unprofessionell!
@@Pothi90 you can get a cold from seeing your family and friends, or sitting in Church… your comment is dumb and her choice whether to wear a mask or not has nothing to do with her professional status as an athlete
@@Pothi90It wasn't unprofessional not to wear a mask to avoid a cold before 2020 and it isn't now. Unless you are 3 you will know that. Plus nobody in the UK loses "weeks of training" or anything else from catching a cold.
@@coachc2984 it's not about the status, it's about the attitude. It's about 11th of August 2024. It's about the moment when you look in the mirror and you have to ask yourself if you did everything you can to prepare.
Not taking a no cost, no effort preventive measure shows me, that she isn't taking it serious.
Schoorl is he Village I grew up in chances are the hosts and I went to the same school @de oosterkim
