I don’t think I’ve ever seen a reporter display so much compassion and empathy on her face like this one has! It looked like she was holding back tears as she sat with his parents.
I had the same thought. It's such a refreshing change from the typical stone-faced reporter
I noticed that as well… first with the friend like she was about to cry when she seen him almost shed tears.
Same thoughts here...
She's also very validating out loud ❤
Yes my favorite reporter so far. You could tell she had a good rapport with everyone she spoke to.
This was very sad to watch. This young man was obviously a very special person because even 15 years later he has people shedding tears at his loss. Hoping for a solution to his case.
You never get over death. Who raised you?????
@@kingofuseddurablecars.ls6040they mean it’s still so raw, feels like it just happened, the way people remember him, the impact his loss still has not only on family but the whole community. Jeez calm down and put some effort into understanding what is being said before making such rash comment. Who raised you?
I love how they incorporated his music into the video. It gave this one a very unique feel and is a great way to pay homage to Kevin
I thought so too. Was hoping it was Kevin's beats they were playing!
@@AngYon-k3uyep! They said partway through most of it was his music :D
You can just tell he was on his way to be a great success.Bless his ❤️ heart.I hope he and his family find closure and justice
His “music” was 🗑️
@@Ghetto-toaster22troll be gone
Can I just say 48 hours did a really beautiful job in honoring Kevin Harris. The editing and music features really showcased his talent. He was gone too soon…. crazy how much he would have thrived in the music industry. Rest in Power Track Bully 💜
I agree but they should've closed that racially charged argument about prejudice, hoods and gang related crime because it can't be ruled out and it's not a prejudice, it's an observation and a good point to start from. Compassion and empathy is interracial and if you want to end racism, stop talking about it. Quoting Morgan Freeman, and I would add, stop insinuating too.
Why was his potential success crazy?
@@litostakkz24K
Now you seem to be baiting. I take it as he was incredibly talented at a very young age. People say the same about anyone who can accomplish so much in such a short amount of time. Stop whatever you are implying. It’s old. 🥱
Ask yourself, who was supposed to meet him? Maybe they did meet him. Someone had to be mad over some track or something. Or random acts in the neighborhood.
The way she reassures his friend that it's ok to cry so gently was so perfect.
And it opened the gates for him because he was instantly tearful 😢
🫶🏽🫶🏽
I’m crying too😢😢😢😢
That’s the thing though…even though she says it-it’s NOT ok. 3 cowards drove up and unalived a young man in the prime of his life. Not only that, but it’s 10+ years later and his family/friends obviously still miss him dearly and there STILL are no arrests/convictions and no closure. Someone one knows something. I’m sure the idiots who did this bragged to someone or let it slip seeing how long ago this happened. The mom is right though, you CAN’T run from God. Justice is coming one way or another.
@@Brian-gh7fj I understand what you're saying here, but she did not say it was okay that a young man was murdered and that the killers run free. She said it was okay for that man to cry thinking about his lost friend. Two very different things.
I just woke up, went to UA-cam, found this, and I am sobbing five minutes in. His beautiful parents. How does anyone survive after losing such a glorious light in the world? How could anyone hurt this precious man? I'm almost 60 years old and the cruelty and unfairness that life deals out STILL doesn't make any sense. I don't even know anyone but my heart is most definitely heavier knowing about it. I pray that justice and peace find this family and cradle them in love and healing. I'm so sorry this happened at all.
I feel like it's always the ones filled with a bright authentic light that are taken out. It makes me afraid to shine sometimes
@@mandie144 oh sweetie, you have to shine! Don't ever let fear make you afraid to light up the world! The beauty, goodness, kindness, love, and joy we spread is really the main thing that separates us from the vile, horrible animals like the ones that murdered Kevin. Jealousy is one of the worst diseases
Satan is The Egotist and the reason why God brought Satan low creating an eternal place of hell for Satan and his demonic ego driven angels.
The good news is God defeated evil on the cross when He rose from the grave (Psalm 110:1, Psalm 22 & Isaiah 53).
Satan will be defeated forever when Jesus returns to cast judgment on all unrepentant ego maniacs (Daniel 7:13,14).
Keep the faith and don’t ever give up on believing in God ( John 16:33).

Jealousy is the 👿
Jealousy is a strong evil emotion and will make ppl do very bazaar things get away from jealous ppl!
Not if it’s TRUE Godly jealousy is good like husband for his wife in one Holy Marriage,… also like One True Living only God for His people!
If there were 3 people in the car, then that means that there are probably two dozen people who know something but who have just been "minding their own business" for years.
Its crazy that they stick together like that, even seeing that this kid had no type of involvement in that type of life and how much pain its caused the parents. They still wont “snitch”

This story breaks my heart and makes me want to hug the mom and dad. This is horrible. 😢
Mine too. This one and all the other ones here on 48. 😢...
We must teach our children that the world is a dangerous place. Not everyone that smiles at you is your friend.
Yes, watch everything and EVERYONE. 😮
That's what I've tried to teach my daughter who seems to get caught up with horrible people that claim to be her "friend".
Oh, for sure. My 16 year old has a few close friends because he's on guard. I don't blame him.
Well duh 😂
Smiling faces
The fact that he was uneasy and felt something was going to happen speaks volumes. There’s more to this story than meets the eye. He knew that he was dealing with some sketchy individuals.
Exactly what I thought, he knew he had upset someone as it was clearly a targeted hit, not just a random shooting
To see his parents suffering through such inconsolable grief truly breaks my heart. I will remember Kevin, and his family in my prayers always. Justice for Kevin❣️
I love that they used his music in the episode! This is one of the best 48 Hours I've ever seen. So much compassion and depth to this story. Excellent reporter and producers.
My heart breaks for the parents. The love they had for their son. I can only imagine the pain. Hopefully some justice can be served for Kevin's death. Rip Kevin
*for their son.
No! Not “some justice”. Full justice. “Some” of their son wasn’t taken.
I hope his parents find some peace in their lives .... The pain and grief they are enduring I cud not even begin to imagine
@@mtio2807getting 'full justice' implies that both parties are fair & square in the end. Their son is still gone forever. There's really no such thing as FULL justice for the loved ones of the deceased.. it isn't humanly possible. SOME justice is all that can be achieved
I second your feelings! I feel the parents' pain.
Man his mom has a extraordinary amount of grief for Kevin. She really loved her son, she wont ever find peace. I feel so much for her. What is frustrating about this is that you dont know who murdered your loved one but you do know they were friends with them. Which sucks. And its nice to see the full episode uploaded on youtube with a lot of attention. It gets it out there. Those perpetrators who participated aren’t the only ones who know, their peers around them know something too and probably could care less about telling anyone about it.
15 years later and no one has any info?? Sad.

From the start this seem like the crime of a hater, a hater that couldn’t stand seeing a man in the cusp of success.
My sentiments exactly, why do black hate on each other so much? I see it even here in S.A.🇿🇦 when sum1 works hard and succeeds instead of taking pointers being happy 4 success we 'hate' Why? When will we as a race be for each other instead of against? This is how we got colonised in Africa. This is how we even sold each other into slavery 4 peanuts. To hear Kevin's mother breakdown and repeat in a whisper "he was murdered" just broke my heart into a million pieces. ❤ I pray that this family does get the Justice they so desperately need for their son.
So glad they profiled this story. So many times, our stories aren't told or heard on the news. Hoping that justice delayed isn't justice denied for this family & community.
I'm so sad that they divorced😢I pray they catch the killer. Such a beautiful family shattered❤
That made me sad too.
Yes because most black homes in LA are single mothers.. to have both parents who are well spoken NOT the “stereotype” and just good Christian people not on drugs or in prison in Englewood area is not heard of much.. Strong black families matter 🖤🖤🙏🏿🙏🏿
Sometimes people can’t stand good people.
Or the perception somebody ‘has everything’ because they can’t see the dedication and hard work behind their success. Maybe jealous of his intact family too.
Fact
Yessss , totally agree , this is heartbreaking 💔💔😢😢
Had family who cared & they didn’t! They hate that! & his Daddy was in his life! They don’t know nothing about that. So they hated him
Preach!
I’ve seen this story multiple times over the years and every time that I watch, I hope for a different ending. I want his family to get justice so badly.
It’s heartbreaking for both the parents that they lost their son. It was even more heartbreaking that because of that loss their marriage also ended. I’m really glad the father drew comfort from the Lord. Will be keeping them in my prayers
When his dad said he has to turn his sons pictures around I felt that! I look exactly like my mom who is suffering with severe dementia & hasn’t known who I am for the last 5 years…It is extremely difficult to look at pictures of her before or to even visit her now because my “mom” is gone. Sure her body is here but her mind is long gone.
Hugs 😢 my mom checked out age 62- but passed at age 75. The long road home...
Bless you. Had this with my dad. Lived with and cared for him for 10 years before he passed with dementia and most days he had no idea, but I bet your mum knew you still long after she had forgotten others and loves you. Virtual hugs.
I’m sorry you and your mom are goin through that.. my dad died 2 years ago and it’s hard to look at his pictures some day. I haven’t even opened his stuff I’m afraid too.
Appreciate the touch of her hand, the feel of her ear .it all means so much..my heart and prayers are with u and her🙏🏿💐
Shame on you! Spend time with her while you have her. This is about her, not about you. Sing to her rather than speak to her, and her response will astonish you.
I almost turned this episode off multiple times, but I made it through. The pain that I’m feeling for his loved ones is just… too much. I don’t think I’ve ever had this reaction to a true crime show, but I can just feel the positive and pure vibes each time they show Kevin’s picture. I truly hope the person responsible is brought to justice sooner rather than later.
So true 😔🥺
Your comment is the one because it was hard to get through I got so emotional😢
I love him rocking the multiple TB fitted🥰repping my city
Jealousy is real, be careful who you associate with lookout for the red flags.
I feel so much for his family and friends. This is the most moving and personal episode of 48 hours I’ve seen. They really worked hard to make sure we understood and honored Kevin, as well as empathize with his parents.
If the FBI were still investigating this case, they should bring charges against Desmond Carter, and have him take a pauleygram. He is the only one who had communication with Kevin, and was scheduled to meet him. If he didn’t show up or never call to cancel or reschedule, he’s your guy. This isn’t hard to resolve. Bring him in again, I know this is bothering him, and he should name accomplice too. It’s right at this point. Kevin II Parents have waited for years for their closure. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I AGREE
I believe you mean a polygraph.
A pauleygram is insane
I love the fact that he had such a great relationship with his Auntie. ❤
I've always heard that losing a child will either bring you together or tear you apart.
I hope these parents find peace 🕊️.
RIP Kevin.
I know. I hate hearing relationships die because of tragedies surrounding a couple's child\children.
So true. When a young black man named Stephen Lawrence an aspiring architect was murdered aged 18 by racists in the UK, it totally destroyed his parents marriage too. It took many years but they found, arrested and convicted the persons who took his life for no other reason that he was a black man. 😢😢😢
WTF Kind of world do we live in where a MOTHER is cleaning her sons blood from the street ???
Its heart breaking to see Kevins parents suffering in this way - I hope they both find some peace in their lives
No parent should EVER lose their child in such a horrific way. My father, who was turning 32 in 4 days, was murdered when I was 2 yrs old. It was absolutely devastating for my family. He was such a wonderful young man with so much potential for a bright future. It’s sad someone took that away 😢 The grief never goes away. You just learn to live with it.
A lot of people are talking about jealousy but this wasn't jealousy, this was envy. There's a distinct difference.
Jealousy. They wanted him to be miserable because he's from the hood of LA but he didn't become a product of his environment. The fact that Brittany Spears and Rihanna was interested in his work shows how amazing his craft is. Had he still been here with us, he would've been one of the best producers out of Los Angeles. He was Timbaland, Swizz Beats, Kanye West, Dr Dre and Pharrell Williams all in one. He was minding his business and he still got murdered. But people love to keep on saying " As long as you're minding your business, you'll be alright in the hood" which as we see here is a straight up lie.
He probably got murdered for making beats for Rhianna and Britney spears.
The industry shady . Ice cube said mind ur business you live longer
My heart is breaking for Kevin’s parents! You just want to hug both of them!! Praying for them and praying for justice for Kevin
This was absolutely heart-wrenching to watch. I just want to reach thru and hug Kevin's mom & dad.....their pain is written all over their faces. I can't imagine living in a world that had taken my son away. I'm so sorry that this happened. Kevin definitely deserves justice. And I truly believe it's coming. I feel like when LE says gang related they don't necessarily mean Kevin was involved in a gang. They could mean he was caught in the "crossfire". Just like so many other innocent people have been. That's why it's so horrible. Kevin's life was beautiful because he grew up surrounded by love, he grew up doing what he loved to do and was good at! But what's horrible is that evil pervades all around us- we can live our lives doing all the right things and still aren't safe.
I cried when Kevin's mom said she had kept everything from the last morning she shared with her son. Even down to the napkin the juice container...that got me.
I pray that whoever it is that knows something please comes forward! Idk how they can just go on like nothing happened when a good person is gone & their family is devastated. Idk how someone can watch Kevin's story and not be touched. Thank you 48 hrs this was well presented and very respectful to Kevin & his family. Much love to Kevin's parents. ❤
I've watched many true crime stories. This was heartbreaking from the beginning. His father.. 😞😞😞 so street smart, intelligent, understanding. Composed and broken. Their loss broke them. Their divorce broke me. So saddened this family is no longer. When tragedy strikes you are left with nothing, but thoughts and a need to find peace. God rest the deterioration of their souls.

His parents seem like incredible people, just like Kevin was. I was so sorry to hear they divorced, but they still seem close and determined to get justice for their son together.
Dear Lord Jesus Christ please give this family justice!
Until you are a parent, you can never understand the depth of their pain. I pray for his soul to rest easy and the parents hearts to heal in peace.
Grieving the loss of someone is a pain everyone knows. Don't need to be a parent, to understand that part. It's bad when a parent(s) child is stolen(kidnapped) or taken(death/murdered. It's difficult for any person to lose someone close to them. Family or friend
Very sad story! 20 or so years ago I heard that something like 70% of couples that lose a child end up divorcing.
Thank you 48 Hours!
I grew up in Inglewood. Some areas are worse than others. My parent's too did their best to protect us and shelter us from the drugs and violence. Thank God and my parent's we came out alive and thriving. My heart goes out to the parents. They did the best with their boy and these thugs took him.
It’s hard in those south central streets for many people, some more than others
👍👍👍👍
The pain an individual feels from grief is so intense that it hurts to be around someone who is also suffering from the loss. It becomes easier to create distance. After all, what do you tell another person to comfort them when you can’t even comfort yourself?
I really needed to read your comment today. I was bullied and shunned by my former stepdad and younger half-siblings after the passing of my beloved mother. People often told me how much I looked like my mom, so maybe their cruelty was so that I would go my own way bc seeing my face was too painful of a reminder of her. In all these years since, I never once thought about it from this perspective. Thank you for sharing.
Watching his dad tear up and his friend cry was heartbreaking.
Dude knew his music. He's holding the Who's Quadraphenia record in the thumbnail. Such a sad story 😢. RIP KEVIN HARRIS.
He looked so much like both of his parents!! Its unfortunate that his parents divorced, but grief can do that! I hope they solve this case! I hope they both find comfort, answers, and peace❤❤

It was an ambush, and a set up. He didn’t have money, so obviously it was jealousy.
The initial investigation was botched. They must’ve treated the case as with less regard with the assumption that it’s gang related. In doing that they missed a lot of opportunity in catching the killer/killers.
Same with when a female prostitute is murdered, the police don’t take the case seriously.
He was setup for sure. There are too many “coincidences”, the biggest one being the “rapper” whom he was supposed to meet NEVER showed up. As someone who has worked for a commercial recording studio company, I don't care where a recording studio is located, they are all sketchy AF! We have managed properties in the best and worst parts of the city. And the people who "hang around" these studios with the producers and performers, no matter the genre of music, all seem to be carrying guns. There were several times that we had to deny entry into a studio because of all of the people "hanging around". Ask any recording studio sound engineer, and they will tell you about the fights, shootings, and stabbings.
Wow. Interesting.

We had a friend who was a rising star in the Folk music industry and we constantly worried about his safety.
How are they now
It's probably someone they see every day someone he thought was a friend. I hope his parents find some peace.
What a beautiful, talented young man. So very loved by his parents and the people around him. This is heartbreaking 😢😢😢
It seems he was an only child. The parents' hearts are in pieces, even these many years later
Several people know what happened, it’s shame people keep quiet
Blaxtivities.
Street don't talk you forget about that.
@@LackaBlacka-o1p The streets do talk just not to the cops which is sad.
@lashonnmurray2762 that's why I said streets don't talk.
But yet they BLAB OUT LOCATIONS of people.
"Missed the Chance that how he would grow" best words for Kevin especially for the music industry. RIP Kevin.
I could not do this job as a interviewer because I would be crying during the interview.
I can tell that his parents raised him right. His death is such a waste of a beautiful talented honest young man. May he rest in peace❤
The beats were so good this 48 hours episode. I found myself nodding and dancing to this sad episode. Goes to show you how much potential this young man had.
The mom memorializing his last dishes and oj carton brought me to instant tears. This case is 100% solvable idk why it’s taking this family so long to get closure that they so rightfully deserve ❤
I turned it off. Music is created with instruments, not synthesized computer sounds
@@merrickmeyers to each their own
@@ohhemmgeeitsjeeti i agree with you, and you are as cute as the beats are solid 🔥🔥🔥
These parents that fight for their murdered children amaze me. I am in awe. So very sad.
As the mother of an only son...GOD please take me first. My heart breaks seeing this
I did not expect to get tears in my eyes. I feel so sorry for the parents.
I pray someone has a conscious and comes forward with answers for this family. ❤
I’ve seen Kevin Harris’ name all over music… and I had no idea that this happened and he was no longer with us 💔
😭😭😭💔💔💔
Fatherless men creating grieving fathers 😠😒😔
Amazing quote
This just frustrates me. How can you do that to another human? That shooter would be begging for their life if they were in that position. This is someone’s life we are talking about
Hearing the pain in his beautiful mom's voice just makes me want to hug her so much.
It's sad when a couple gets divorced after a traumatic even like the loss of a child. You would expect people to rally together and be strong for their fallen child😢
Most times I hear that’s it’s difficult bcuz they see the child in the other parent and it’s too much to bear. Also, in other cases one fills like the other could have done more to protect the child from whatever caused it.
It’s sad all around.
I also would think It would be like tryna fill a whole that could never be filled in every day life. Idk 😢🥺
Must’ve been on the verge of divorce before the incident.
This is what happens when ppl make their children the centre/purpose of their marriage instead of the child/children are a by-product of it and focus less on themselves as a couple
easier said than done and its very common
I’ve watched many marriages end after a traumatic loss like this. Too much pain and most marriages don’t survive it.
My heart breaks for the mother. Her actions saving his plate he used for breakfast, picking up broken glass off the street.😔 His parents love him with their entire hearts.
This! Her sweeping the glass up in her hands broke me. Prayers, peace, & love to all of his friends and family 💙
It’s so sad that he felt like something was gonna happen before it did happen. I can’t imagine the pain these parents are feeling.
This episode was extremely personal & touching.
