    Tell me your ideas to 3D Print :)

    I like the idea, could use it for a gift.

    If you're 3D printing a box, you're using a lot more material to make it foldable like this. Good if you want to ship it though.

  • @hollt693
    @hollt693 Рік тому +12

    It might not be as wasteful as it seems. With this method, you only use the material you need to make the box, instead of having to produce an entire sheet of cardboard and discard 25% of it as off-cuts. I guess it depends on the intended lifecycle of the box.

      This was my thought as well. I was thinking that there could be a better 3D printed mechanism that would use less plastic and put the box together but I realize that we have that efficient shape for a reason. Flat folds is more efficient then little latches. My gut isn't crazy about the idea but I can see it having some uses.

      also you can shred the plactic to pellets and to new filament

    Someone call MIT, they're missing a student. He's over here making boxes on a 3D printer. Honestly, I'm mad I haven't seen this before.

    I would like if you folded the 2nd box opposite way having a Gold outer part & black inner part

    I think acknowledging that It is a waste of plastic does not make It any less waste of plastic

    If you do it, make sure you have your infill set to something flexible, cross infill is very flexible and doesn’t snap easily

    • @moritztweber
      @moritztweber Рік тому +4

      i think there is no infill. Its only 2 to 5 Layers especially in the folding zones

    As someone who loves to reuse things, I find this a genius idea!!!! Albeit it's not sustainable for everyone because people love to throw things away, I believe that these would be a great thing to constantly be reused while shipping mail

    It does not pollute the planted as it's PLA. PLA is made out of a biodegradable polymer so it just biodegrades once it is disposed

    I would reduce the size and use them in dioramas it's a great idea. Also if you could print graphics for Amazon and FedEx boxes for example that would be awesome I'd definitely buy a pack 😊✌🏻
