Esta es una de las mejores 100 películas de dibujos animados de la historia. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Una película que se adelantó a su tiempo. Es una obra de vanguardia que estableceria técnicas de animación para la década de los 90's y actual.
There was this time in Kindergarten when my teacher read to us a golden book version of this film, made us act it out, and then, finally, we watched the film, itself!
i still have the dvd of this from years ago and i loved it since i heard about it. i always enjoyed how Mewsette was drawn and how well animated she was too.
Funny how less than a decade later Disney made their own film with a somewhat similar theme of talking cats in Paris with "The Aristocats" (albeit only having surface level similarities, the two are very different in most other respects) although that ended up being far more remembered generally than Gay Purr-ee which is basically a semi-obscure cult classic, and even then i still think it's a decent film especially with how Chuck Jones went with that direction of surreal almost paint-y style which make it look so tonally distinct from pretty much most of the other animated works in his long career in animation. I have to say, there are many scenes where the art is trippy as hell. Sometimes it makes you wonder what they were on as some parts really evoke that feeling.
Probably because the movie was stood for everything UPA was against -despite being a wonderful movie none the less. It doesn't feel even feel like the studio made it, nor really a disney film from its style, and the lack of Micheal Maltaise voids the Jones connection from feeling like a WB animated feature or even a Merry Melody. It's just there, a wholely original film.
@Gary Wallace Ikr, it just feels so completely different from pretty much everything else Jones did in the course of his multi decades career as an animator. The look of the film doesn't even really resemble UPA's own minimalist in house animated productions either, it seems to be a distinct thing even with having both of the former involved.
@@justinmiddleton8818 To be honest, the closest Jones production to the film is probably his Raggedy Ann tv specials, but less from Chuck himself and more from the Raggedy Ann series is generally filled to the brim about themes of love, as well as it's more relaxed tone. I'd still take the Gay Purree over those specials though, those specials have really have some off-putting, funny out of context moments to them. And I can always get my fix of Raggedy Ann from Richard Williams' adaptation, the partially lost Broadway show, and the Johnny Gruelle originals.
Omg! This movie brings me back! Wait, that sounds like I’m older than I actually am. Well, mom passed last year...and I just miss when she, (and the rest of my siblings), and my mom would watch this among her other favorite shows she grew up with
Jones - who was under exclusive contract to Warner Bros. - was moonlighting for another studio when he worked on this film. When Warners bought the distribution rights, they noticed his name, let his team finish their current cartoon, then fired them all. Ouch!
@@MissMatched Those who remember the simpsons episode Lisa The Beauty Queen. Imagine Mewsette being like Amber Dempsey as she flutters her eyelashes as well as her
You know , its pretty possible that dutchess from aristocats and mewsette could be in some way related to each other I have a theory , it goes something like this : after the events of aristocats , madame passed away leaving her will to her cats . Berlioz and Tolouse were probably given up for adoption as well as Marie . She was sold to a farmer in the country side and gave birth to a few kittens . One was a female that was named mewsette . That explains why Mewsette has blue eyes and a pink collar Btw this is just my theory
That's Robert goulet he did the singing voice of Mikey from Disney's recess, I didn't know he was the voice of jaune Tom from gay purr-ee until I googled it.
Ignoring Phantom Tollbooth, recobbled looney tunes cinematic rereleases oddly titled as "movies", and a ton of TV specials, THIS is the only Chuck Jones movie in my heart
I like everything about this movie, except possibly the overly punny title, which would be better for a seven minute short cartoon. I think they should have stuck to basics and just called the movie "Mewsette."
Judy Garland's final resting place is now at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Her children legally transferred her coffin from Hartsdale, New York's Ferncliff Cemetery last year.
They were asking how to download a free copy. You know - because if you have access to the internet, you are should never have to pay for other people's creative efforts. It's basic internet etiquette - anything anyone owns should be yours. Example: when I see someone with music or a movie I want, why can't I just HAVE it? It's not theft - it's downloading; that's simple economics! If food were free but you could download it illegally, people would go for the download.
Surely noted before ... but this is NOT a Disney film!!!!! Have a look at the ... well ... how about the quality of the animation???? A product of the already past-its-prime UPA studio, which enjoyed some modest anti-Disney-esque success in the mid-50s. Judy should really have teamed up with Disney for a memorable and quality product (and I'm not thinking along the lines of "The Aristocats")!
What do you mean‽ The artwork here is _gorgeous_ ! Besides, by the 1960's Disney was starting to flounder. What with the failure of Sleeping Beauty leading to Xerox, the quality started to dip! And it gradually kept dipping and dipping....
OMG...I used to love this cartoon when I was a kid. Mewsette is so cute!
One of my favorite songs from Gay Purr-ee~!!!
I adore this movie! I use to watch it all the time when it would be on Disney channel!!!
?
One of my favorite non-Disney movies.
Mine too!
It reminds me of aristocats
Same
De echo, los Aristogatos en una vil copia de esta película. @@tmupah
This needs a Blu-ray release!

Lovely, I´ve been looking for this movie forever.

Morey was such a talented man as was Robert...can't imagine the effect his singing had on the crew of the film and Mr. Jones probably was stunned.
Mewsette is my favourite character in this Cat Movie

He sounds like Mikey Blumberg singing from Recess
The same voice, Robert Goulet
I was named after mewsette the cat .. My mom was pregnant with me and after watching this cartoon ..She named me musette ❤️
Judy's Mewsette was so beautiful.
Woooow 🙀 I remember this from waaaaay long ago
This is my favorite movie of all time. I loved it so much! I like everything about it, the animation, the settings... and more.
Chuck jones is awesome :)
Mewsette has Judy's haunting eyes.
Damn, Goulet had an awesome voice!
I haven't seen this classic animated movie in years.
Jones - who was under exclusive contract to Warner Bros. - was moonlighting for another studio when he worked on this film. When Warners bought the distribution rights, they noticed his name, let his team finish their current cartoon, then fired them all.
Ouch!
Then they set up their own cartoon studio at M.G.M.. They reincarnated Tom and Jerry, a fresh start!
I wonder what the DFE/Seven Arts era of Looney Tunes would have been like if Jones wasn't fired
Scare Bleu
Maybe you don't believe me, but i'm only 12 and watched this movie and other forgotten movies
If Duchess & Mewsette entered a beauty-contest, would it turn into a cat-fight?
Nah Duchess is too classy
@@MissMatched Those who remember the simpsons episode Lisa The Beauty Queen. Imagine Mewsette being like Amber Dempsey as she flutters her eyelashes as well as her
No Man, That’s Ridiculous
If there was a contest between Duchess, Mewsette, and Fluffy from Rugrats, it might lead to another Trojan war....
I am just hearing about this film. Seems sweet enough. The beginning reminds me of from Disney Aristocats when Thomas meets Dutchess
She's sooooooo CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!! 😄
Red gave his character the cutest voice .

You are correct, Sir! I was noticing the exact same thing myself.
Only way better.

aristocats is actualy prequel to gay purr-ee , even tough they are made by two diferent studios
I think gay purr ee took place before the aristocats. Because Gay Purr ee was set in 1899 and Aristocats was sets in 1914.
Aristocats actually took place
during 1910. The intro scene displayed time loop location
and year on screen.
I like the name Mewsette very pretty
Me too. It's a beautiful name.
Morey channeled Maurice Chavier.
pretty cat
Mikey? Why are you a singing cat??
