I also love how she gets to have a face in the end. Did you notice that up to the point where they escaped from the pitbulls first owner no human faces are shown? Mostly not even the heads are in the frame and if so, only rough features (eyebrows, beards) are sketched in...
the accuracy on a cat’s behavior, the moves of the tail, how they randomly drop themselves on the floor, the moves when he’s gonna go after the cap, the full black eyes also when playing or hunting, that weird crab walk when they are trying to be threatening, how sponged they get when they got scared, when they rub against things, it’s very very accurate.
The pits body language and antics are too, blew my mind how accurately they could portray each of them. My boy does the same things. I'm a tough dude most of the time, but this one had me in tears.
So is the cat when it approaches the dog after the POS abuser kicks him out in the rain. The cat approaches carefully and gives a small lick to let the dog know it means no harm. My cat does this when I'm crying. She'll sneak up next to me and lick my arm. One time, I was crying in the dark, and she licked the tears off my cheek. Also, the dog's reaction when the cat lays down next to it, its tail thumps, responding to gentle touch, and when the dog hesitates to let the new human pet it...My heart just melts seeing him happy! This whole thing was made very well by someone who really knows both cats and dogs and *_loves them._* I love animals, too, this warms my heart. The part that broke me was when the woman's hand reached out to the Pitbull and it seemed like the poor pup shied away for a second, scared, afraid to trust. The human contact he was used to before was abuse. Instant sobs.

My parents rescued two cats. One of them was gonna get put down due to his deformities and the other was found sick in a travelling fair. This animation shanked me in the feels.
I'm happy that both the dog and cat got the same owner and they were not seperated, I love animals and I hate how they get abused like that dog did. I love this animation, thank you for making it.
2:19 the kitten playing with the bottle cap is super realistic, especially when the cat shakes his butt and has bigger pupils. these animators clearly own cats.
It’s probably like old Disney movies. They bring in a model and have them just do certain activities to see how they would naturally react! It’s very effective. Very good in this one
Same, I am currently bawling. I have an all white pit who we rescued after he was involved in a dog fight, a black cat who went from hating him to sleeping with him that we got from the shelter, and my hubby and I are also an interracial couple. This hit WAY too close to home.
It frustrates me to no end that dogs are put in horrible situations like fighting to the death for the enjoyment of other bad people. It's criminal and should be outlawed everywhere. It's just so heartbreaking. this was a masterfully done short film.
It frustrates even more when people ridicule dogs for their viciousness. They don't care about how lovable and sweet the dog was before or how it was abuse relentlessly for it to become so aggressive. They just see a "violent monster" that they believe should be put down. These Sparkshorts always carry such meaningful messages.
I agree with that much, but nobody feels sympathy for the birds in cockfighting or the alligators that die very excruciating deaths to trappers. There are humane ways to treat pest gators and roosters. Just because God put animals in our dominion doesn't mean we can find enjoyment in their suffering. The word for that is "sadistic."
The weariness of the dog when the women tried to pet him hurt. But when the dog closed his eyes, feeling the comfort of a loving touch for the first time I cried.
I was doing totally fine until that last scene where Pittie finally experiences true, gentle, affection, and then I lost it. IMMEDIATE sobbing. Oof. Gonna go cuddle my shelter adoptee right now
It's so beautiful that the cat, who was scared of the dog at first, is the one who calms down the woman when she gets afraid of the dog. As if saying "He's my friend, see? He's nice!".
After this, I cuddled my pitty for an hour. Then I cried. Why would someone do this to someone so special. Poor puppers doesn't deserve that. I know it's a cartoon, but bless that pittys heart. Forever I will love my Indiana. Forever
This hit me so hard... I have a Argentinian mastiff that my mom found abandoned by a coffee shop. he is the most loving creature who just wants to play and cuddle. But, sadly whenever we take him out people immediately judge him just because of his breed. My dad was once asked to leave a dog park because my dog was playing too rough. When in reality he wasn’t doing much but sitting still. Thank you Pixar for making a wonderful animation.
Yep, people have the same reaction when we bring our pit bulls out into the world, but I at least just ignore them and try my best to make people like them, but I don't think that will change much
I remember watching this with my 6 yr old niece, and she couldn't comprehend that there were people who hurt animals. This is such an important little film xo
i love the small detail when the woman pets the dog, he slightly leans his head away as if expecting to be pushed away or batted, it on top of the initial reaction the woman has when first seeing the dog are what makes me feel sad about the honestly horrible truth that pitbulls are really misunderstood, and some people really go out of their way to make sure their status as "violent breed" stays, which is absolutely horrible. once she pets the dog, i always feel relieved, even on rewatches, because it goes to show that yes they are really just as gentle as other dogs are, and we shouldn't be treating them as anything different. this is all coming from a person who has been living with a pit-lab mix for nearly my whole life, and honestly he's still as sweet as he was when we got him as a pup. love your animals, no matter what people say about them. they hate because they don't get enough love that they deserve, and the best thing you can do as a pet owner is to show them that you still care about them.
People just don’t understand. My dad had a pit bull and it was around me when I was like 3. It passed away like 2 years ago and I was glad I was there to help people see that any dog can be friendly and loving, only if it’s with a good family that will give enough love and attention to it.
My neighbor found a pit puppy on the side of the road and adopted him to us. I've had him since he was about 4 weeks old. My uncle-in-law told us to watch out for him, cause pits can turn at any moment and rip your throat out. It's been 13 years, my dog has never hurt me, my son, my cat (other than accidentally sitting on her cause he still doesn't understand how big he is,) and I've used him to educate kids in the neighborhood how to approach and read big dogs and even helped some of them overcome their fear of large dogs. When a feral decided to drop her kittens off on us, my dog babied them and let them try to nurse him. My cat frequently uses him as a bed. He even saved my life when a fire started outside my door while I was asleep, and he woke me up. Breeds aren't inherently bad. People make them bad.
i got a pity, and he's a big baby, when you have a blanket, he will jump onto you and stretch out, and within minutes, he will sleep on you and he loves c u dd l e s. . So deadly- i know-
we had a staffie girl that was exactly like that, she was very fearful from being abused previously, but after you'd pet her she would look at you with the most loving eyes. I miss her so much :((
All dogs deserve nothing but love. My sister has a dog and I live with my cat, and really, there aren't many differences. Yes they have different personalities and needs, but they both just want to be loved. Isn't that what we all want? This made my heart burst and eyes swell. It takes a lot for me to cry. I've never gotten emotional over an 8 minute short, but animals are my sweet spot. Every pitbull I've met has been such a sweetie pie, and they're simply protective/territorial dogs. They don't deserve to be subjugated to stereotypes like people are.
@Sylveonaire I wish it were banned everywhere! Even though this is a short film I am so glad this puppy made it, I was so sure this was gonna have a sad ending because of the fighting ring.
I am so happy I saw this when I did. There’s two cats that live around my neighborhood, both have scars. I thought nothing of them and just left food out whenever I had some leftover from a bag from my own cat. I grew attached to them, even speaking to them in a baby voice(we’ve all done it). When I found out where they got their scars from after asking around if they were anyone’s cats because they seemed tame(they were one of my neighbor’s.) I felt so bad for them. Apparently my neighbor would abuse them when drunk or high, sometimes when he wasn’t. I decided to keep the cats, but as outside cats. This short just crushed my heart. Animals who don’t trust humans from abuse deserved all the love they missed out on.
Unless you live in north Africa or the middle east, keep your cats inside! They're an invasive predator that's exterminating native songbird populations.
Animals are more honest than people, and more forgiving. Anyone that loves either cats or dogs or both can relate to the very real body language we clearly understand replacing shallow words, or even worse, singing and dancing, with the most heartfelt and hard hitting slice of this is what happens daily in any big city even if you don't ever hear a peep about it. There simply is no finer animal movie and maybe never will be one this brutally honest and moving. It gets me every time and I'm supposed to have a LOGICAL personality type.
It got me AGAIN. I wanted to add that it's a nice touch that the couple is interracial, and is a subtle commentary about seeing PEOPLE for who they are too.
@@xena7055 I'm sorry but actually, you don't have to eat vegan diets, just eat organically raised animals, because organically raised chickens/cows/etc. have a nice long life eating fresh grass and healthy bugs! 😊
@@SanguiniCore Yeah, those animals are created to be food. And I'm sure they don't suffer when it comes the time, unless someone makes them suffer in pourpose, that's something I wouldn't tolerate.
Manages to perfectly capture the essence of both dogs and cats better than in any other film/other media I've seen. This short is cute and fantastic, whichever pet you prefer.
They can't find a home until we humans learn to offer them one and learn how to share ours with them.. I believe animals can love you like no human can ever..
Plus the emotions of Kit (little nickname for ‘em because Kitbull) around 2:56 are so adorable! It catches a cat’s playful yet jumpy behavior! Especially the part where Kit lies down for a few seconds with their tail twitching until they immediately got back up and started to try and hit the cap to Bull!
Got this sent to me from a friend I went to college with. This week was Veterinarian Technician appreciation week. This is truly something that really made me tear up and cry- these are some of the most common patients we see come into clinic. Whether they be rescues from off of the street or the shelter etc. I’m so happy and proud to say I work in a field that allows me to help clients/owners help animals learn what actual trust and love is again. This was executed so nicely. ❤
It’s funny, pitbulls were made for being tough, angry loyal guardians that can maul a person to death if it felt like it. In reality pitbulls are some of the most kind, playful, lazy and cuddly dogs out there
All pitbulls are two dogs in one. A super kind, gentle, loyal dog on one hand and a tough, dangerous, and aggressive bodyguard on the other. What is going to flip the switch is different for each dog. The problem has always been that flipping the switch is so much more dangerous and damaging on a pitbull compared to other breeds.
I remember 2020 (a year after release) saw this and began to cry so wean i saw a piece of home work about any film/show i chose this because its such a masterpiece bravo Pixar go back to making bangers like this please.
The animation on that cat is amazing!!! The movements are such a perfect mix between cat and humor. It is also nice not seeing another "sensual kitty" in an animation. Also, great message. Poor puppy...
I know! The way it's eyes got wider when ever it got scared or frisky (most people think the eyes go in spots when this happens) how it curls itself up and tries to make itself look bigger. It looked just like a real cat!!!
same! my black lab dog wasnt exactly abused but they were always left outside not fed enough and just in general not taken care of we found her wandering around the street so we picked her up and found a dog collar on her and it said winnie she was a bit beaten up and malnourished so we took care of her later we found a number on the collar we called it and they said to keep her so we kept her named her brandy took her to the vet and all and now shes a happy pupper she does have seperation anxiety but we stay around her alot but that was my story :)
This short never fails to make me cry. It's the exact same way we got our old Staffie, Sweetie. She was out on the streets, covered in scars and only had 3 legs. She had been used as a fighting dog and when she refused to comply, thy stamped on her leg, breaking it. They took her to the vets and they tried to pin it but it didn't take and she had to have an amputation. After she couldn't be used anymore, they dumped her on the streets and we found her. We found all this out by asking around at shelters and Vets until we found the vets that had treated her. She was only 9 months old when we found her. She then lived her best life with us, even moving to germany with us in 2015. Unfortunately we lost to an unkown illness that caused her organs to shut down at the age of 10. I miss her everyday and if there is a heaven, I'm sure she's happy.

2:19 the kitten playing with the bottle cap is super realistic, especially when the cat shakes his butt and has bigger pupils. these animators clearly own cats.
yeah but it's unrealistic for a cat to instantly raise its voice,, like usually it's gradual until they strike and then it's at its highest.
It’s probably like old Disney movies. They bring in a model and have them just do certain activities to see how they would naturally react! It’s very effective. Very good in this one

Nothing in my entire life has ever made me this emotional, im gonna go and pet my dogs, they deserve all the love.
In the United States it is illegal. But it still happen just like drunk driving, murder, etc. It's illegal but it still happens.
Cannot agree with you more man

This hit me so hard... I have a Argentinian mastiff that my mom found abandoned by a coffee shop. he is the most loving creature who just wants to play and cuddle. But, sadly whenever we take him out people immediately judge him just because of his breed. My dad was once asked to leave a dog park because my dog was playing too rough. When in reality he wasn’t doing much but sitting still. Thank you Pixar for making a wonderful animation.
So.... people ARE blind to reality sometimes. Huh.
Yep, people have the same reaction when we bring our pit bulls out into the world, but I at least just ignore them and try my best to make people like them, but I don't think that will change much
The best dog I've ever owned and all my babies were the best.. but man, this girl's love is beyond explanation. Thank you for making this, Pixar.

i love the small detail when the woman pets the dog, he slightly leans his head away as if expecting to be pushed away or batted, it on top of the initial reaction the woman has when first seeing the dog are what makes me feel sad about the honestly horrible truth that pitbulls are really misunderstood, and some people really go out of their way to make sure their status as "violent breed" stays, which is absolutely horrible. once she pets the dog, i always feel relieved, even on rewatches, because it goes to show that yes they are really just as gentle as other dogs are, and we shouldn't be treating them as anything different. this is all coming from a person who has been living with a pit-lab mix for nearly my whole life, and honestly he's still as sweet as he was when we got him as a pup. love your animals, no matter what people say about them. they hate because they don't get enough love that they deserve, and the best thing you can do as a pet owner is to show them that you still care about them.
People make them bad.
there are no bad dogs
just bad owners

All dogs deserve nothing but love. My sister has a dog and I live with my cat, and really, there aren't many differences. Yes they have different personalities and needs, but they both just want to be loved. Isn't that what we all want? This made my heart burst and eyes swell. It takes a lot for me to cry. I've never gotten emotional over an 8 minute short, but animals are my sweet spot. Every pitbull I've met has been such a sweetie pie, and they're simply protective/territorial dogs. They don't deserve to be subjugated to stereotypes like people are.
So glad that the dog escaped his abusive owner and got a happy ending with the kitty!
@Sylveonaire any owner who puts their dog though that is abusive in my opinion
Sylveonaire that’s literally an abusive owner

jäger dont look at the comments before watching then?
That's sweet, but if you could, you shouldnt let them as outside cats bc they can be abused or get hurt just like the ones that are abandoned...
1: I love this ending
2: don't abuse animals that's cruel
3: love your animations Pixar

If you Really don't like abuse then become vegan because you know people would really abuse animals for food
@@xena7055 I'm sorry but actually, you don't have to eat vegan diets, just eat organically raised animals, because organically raised chickens/cows/etc. have a nice long life eating fresh grass and healthy bugs! 😊

What a beautiful story! I dont think that dogs like pitbulls are bad, they are trained to be a certain way by cruel humans, this showed that perfectly
pitbulls are genetically predisposed to be fighting dogs
It’s funny, pitbulls were made for being tough, angry loyal guardians that can maul a person to death if it felt like it. In reality pitbulls are some of the most kind, playful, lazy and cuddly dogs out there
Grant Keller Pitbulls are so sweet and kind around children, they’re actually labelled as ‘nanny dogs’ look it up.
@@moth-corpse rAmen to that.
As a pitbull and cat owner, their relationship seems about right, especially the kitten. Beautiful message and great video as always
