Sold my ZVE10 last week in anticipation of buying a new camera and the release of the A6700. My choices were the FX30 & A6700. After all the reviews yesterday I went with the FX30 due to multiple UA-camrs reporting of overheating of the A6700.
fair enough - the fx30 is an amazing workhorse. I have not had the a6700 overheat on me unless shooting 4k120 and I ran multiple tests. But perhaps the reviewers were in more difficult conditions.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I've watched a few reviews, and some reviewers have noted it. For instance, in the PetaPixel review of the 6700, Jordan Drake noted that the camera overheated with the heat threshold set to high and was able to record for 46 minutes in 4k 24p. When he switched to 4k 60 in the same kind of room situation, the camera recorded for 26 minutes before the 6700 shut down. Regardless, I'm glad Sony finally gave APSC users overdue upgrades with this camera! Appreciate your thorough reviews and comparison, Mark 🏆
Myself and Gerald Undone got the exact same numbers. I can’t tell you how they tested. But on a tripod, temp set to high, screen open 23 degrees Celcius (77 f) no overheating up to 4k60 10 bit 4.2.2 overheating in 4k 120 at 19 mins.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis The other UA-camrs who mentioned it that I watched are Matt Johnson and Manny Ortiz. I’m going to shoot 4K 60FPS a lot, that’s when the issue with heat comes into play. Also, I’m in a hot state already.
Im stuck on 3... a6700, FC30 or ZVE 1E the full frame ZVE10 i LOVE my ZVE10 Its great. HOWEVER, I'm thinking it is a great B-Roll camera, or "back up" camera. Well, i say back up but more like a different angle placement camera. For example i have just finished shootings end of year school plays, they're often between 60-90 minutes long. I use my Canon RP, Sony 4k Ax53 camcorder. Plus some Gopro's to add in the mix. So for weddings plus other similar events where more than 1 fixed camera is used. 1 of my gripes with ZVE10 is the not so touch screen.
Great comparison! I'll be adding this to my lineup of 2 Sony ZV-E10's. I feel this is a better buy over the FX30 due to the 26MP for photos and the viewfinder. If I were a pro photographer, I'd be willing to buy a Sony a9 III Mirrorless Camera. However, as a UA-cam channel that streams and takes photos of statues and action figures, i think 26MP is more than enough for posting to social media.
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. Exactly the video I wanted to see next. I'm still so torn. I'm a hybrid shooter that is in film school but loves to take pictures. The FX30 makes more sense for me as far as school goes (I can maybe even be convinced to start doing UA-cam again) but all the new autofocus goodies are very appealing to me across the board. Ultimately, I will absolutely upgrade my a6400 to the a6700, the question is just a matter of when. I've almost got enough saved for the FX30, but that means I could preorder the a6700 right now, and then trade the a6400 in towards that FX30 (or my dream camera of an FX60 if they make one) once I have built my camera fund back up.
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the FX 30. I have been using little Dougie or the Sony ZVE 10 for the past two years on UA-cam. It has served me very well and made me a lot of money. If I'm going to upgrade and I mainly shoot video only should I just make the move to full frame Sony A7ix?
You’ll see the most dramatic increase if you do go full frame with something like the A7cii. But if you are shooting projects where you need those cinema features, 2 cars slots, 4k120, two card slots and a fan - then the fx30 can’t be beat
Mark, great comparison and you actually solved my problem. I have a Sony A74 that I love, but was thinking about getting a second body. Lenses at this point I only have the Sony 24mm f1.4 GM, so no great collection. I was debating between the FX30 as a second body as I want to get more into video. However, because of the price of the APS-C lenses I am going to sell the A74 and buy both the FX30 and the A6700, get the Sony 11mm f1.4, Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 and the Sony 70-350 and I am done - two camera bodies!
Great communication talent and great sense of humor. You could be comparing apples to oranges and it would definitely be interesting anyway. Thank you for the good mood. Have you ever thought about doing a talk show?
Hey Mark, thanks for the great info! I pre-ordered the a6700 right away. It appears to be the apsc hybrid I've been craving! However, i also have been preparing to purchase the fx30 and it will be here in a couple of days. I have use for both. What a great time to be an apsc shooter! Keep up the great work.
Already have an A6400 and been looking to pair it with the FX30 but now I’m thinking eventually I’ll try to get an A6700 as my main body and upgrade the 6400 to the FX30 over the next year or two
So as a grandfather that wants to video his grandkids football night games from the sidelines on a well lited field and indoor basketball games which would you choose? I average approximately 40 minutes of video per game right now at 4K at 30 fps. I so like to step up to 4K at 60 fps.
Uuuuu Mark, perfect timing 😎If you would add the Panasonic S5IIx to the mix, I would be in heaven! Unless you tell me quietly so that no one can hear us: is it better to choose the S5IIx or the fx30? I have a GH5m2 and a G85 - they do a great job, I had a ZV1 for a while for my pocket, but because of the Panasonic's touch screen (spoiled me), it was hard to switch to the Sony. For a while now I've been thinking about leaving MFT and switching to Sony because of its brilliant autofocus. Although I'm also tempted by the S5 line. Don't want several systems and multiple lenses. Panasonic L-Mount looks like a slightly more budget system, plus there are some rumors that Blackmagic is about to enter L-Mount :) Heck, I got aroused here by the sugar from the half-pound of ice cream I just ate and I'm slamming on the keyboard because I don't know what to choose. On the one hand Panasonic is very powerful for its price, on the other Sony with its accessibility to cheap aftermarket lenses. Such as the Sigma 56mm F/1.4, in which my talking head would look half as handsome as you... 😅
since you like Panasonic, the S5iix is probably for you. it’s a great camera. no 4K 120, but a lot of people don’t need that. pretty much everything else is great about the camera. the fx30 has more precise eye autofocus and better tracking though
Mark is my favorite UA-camr because he simple makes sense, he compares apples to oranges because 95% of people who buy cameras are picking between apples and oranges
I think this is where I finally choose an APS-C camera (a6700) over a full-frame camera (a7c). I chose a7c over fx30 because it had better photo features (evf, mechanical shutter, etc.) but now the a6700 has them all! Thanks for this comparison!!
Do you have an update video between the two cameras. in Texas and the over heat is killing me shoot in 4K/60 a lot . I have the fan coming hope it helps. It overheated it was 50f degrees but it did go 45 min's . I shot car shows and can not let the camera cool....... I love the A6700 and LOVE what comes out of it did I say I LOVE IT..... but is the only fix to go the fx series........... MARK HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ASKING FOR A FRIEND I HAVE ONE FRIEND
I have the zve10 with so many dang accessories for it but man I might just sell it all to get this camera 😭 the aps-c cameras are really all you need, especially if its personal, social or even UA-cam
The FX30 has a Multi/Micro-USB-Port, where a wired Lanc Remote should be possible to use. The a6700 doesn't. Do you know, if it is possible to use the USB-C-Port for Lanc Remote?
I would love both but I am in love with my a6600 and I think the a6700 for anyone who can’t afford full frames and wants to shoot and record is a no brainer. If the a6600 comes down in price it is plenty good enough for most people.
Hi Mark, I've given you a few dollars of affiliate income several times now. Lol. I love your channel, so you're welcome. 😊 I bought the ZVE 10 back in January. But after running it through the paces, I decided that was not quite the camera for me. The real deal killers there were lack of 10-bit, 120 FPS and the limitation of 720p USB streaming. That streaming looks like garbage on 2024. Lol So now a few months later I have purchased the a6700. I had all kinds of crystal clear 4K dreams in my head. To date I have not been able to get 120 FPS out of my camera. Either the body is defective or my v90 card is not actually v90. Anyway, my question is this: I've seen you stream live with these cameras, and your streams look great. I assume you're using a switcher and these cameras are running HDMI. And the reason I assume this is because I can't seem to get anything but garbage out of the a6700, even after finding the right USB cable. It still looks like 720. Or maybe a touch better, but it's definitely not as good as my Panasonic GH5 was (over HDMI w El Gato). I was hoping to avoid HDMI streaming for simple Zoom calls and OBS stuff. But both Zoom and OBS show this camera in some quasi 720p, very low-res grainy type of footage. Is that just what I have to live with? Does the a6700 actually not do great 1080p? Or is there a trick to getting true 1080p, as good as HDMI quality, over USB?
I steam 4k30 right out of the camera, using Ecamm Live on my computer - no switcher, no HDMI. Make sure your output settings are on the proper resolution. In the Network Tab on page 35, go to USB Streaming and set it to 4K30 or 1080 if that's your preferred setting. It will overheat in 4k30 after about 30 min unless you out a little fan next to it. About the v90 card - that happened to me when I first bought the camera too. Just pulling the card and inserting it again a few times seemed to fix it. And since I've updated the camera to version 1.03 that hasn't happened. Let me know how it goes.
Hey Mark, thanks for the reply! Yes, I'm going straight into the laptop with USB-C. When I first tried it I didn't have the right cable, and the camera sure let me know about it. When I would go into USB streaming, it would tell me "we're going to downgrade you now from 1080p to 720p. Go get yourself a faster USB cable". So I ordered a faster cable. I can only assume the camera thinks it's giving me 1080p now, because I don't get that downgrade message anymore. And my settings for streaming are 1080. I think there's been a slight 10-pixel increase of quality 😛. It's certainly not what one would expect from a beautiful 1080 image. I heard someone say somewhere that they had to stream in 4K because the 1080p is lousy on this camera. At least for streaming. Have you heard of anything like that? As for the v90 issue, I also assumed that upgrading from 1.02 to 1.03 might fix it, but it did not. Thanks for the SD wiggle hack. I'll try reinserting it a few times and see what happens.
Mark….just last year you talked me into buying a FX30. The year before, you convinced me I needed a ZV-E10. Please stop..I am close to draining my wife’s retirement account. I just told her she needs to work another 5 years. Regardless, keep up the good work. I always enjoy your videos and learn a lot.
Just pre-ordered through your affiliate link! Been aiming to get an ASPC with a viewfinder and a flip screen, it's been challenging in the blazing sun with my ZV-E10 lol hard to see even at full brightness
hi Mark, could you please compare side by side, in different scenarios, the AF between those 2 cams. this will be greatly helpful for a lot of people who hesitate...like me :) nice review, thx
All the Xtra stuff for shooting i could care less about. ALL i will be using any of the 2 camera's for is COnstant Video on my podcast and other YT channels. Would you recommend the a6700 or the FX30 in my case?
Now we need to see an in depth comparison between A6700 and ZV-E10. I guess we need to wait until you are able to use the A6700 for that. Hopefully it is not too many weeks/months before you get one.
Hello Mark. Can you do a video of the a6700 vs the ZV E10. That's the one i really need. I have the ZV e10 and its a great camera, but want to know if the a6700 ia a worthy updgrade for the enhanced auto focus, bigger battery, 4k30 streaming via usb (clutch) 10 bit color. I know i'll be giving up ao quick features like product showcase, zoom rocker, and background deficus. Id sony's 4 year timeframe stands, it will be another 2 years before we get another ZV E10 successor.
why 6700 overheats on ather tests and no overheats in you test? Many of them also said that they turn setting to "high". Maybe you can show you test on video and show settings? Maybe you shoot 8 bit on test?
Myself and Gerald Undone got the exact same numbers. I can’t tell you how they tested. But in a tripod, temp set to high, screen open 23 degrees Celcius (77 f) no overheating up to 4k60 10 bit 4.2.2 overheating in 4k 120 at 19 mins.
This is one of the hardest decisions to make for me. I ordered the fx30, canceled the order to pre-order the a6700, and im thinking if i made a mistake. As much as i love to take pictures here and there, i'm still into the video features of the fx30... im literally in a tight fix
It's tough - but the good news is that both are great. If you plan to shoot client work though and get paid - the FX30 would be the better video choice
What about the Fuji X-S20? - that 6.2k open gate is quite a killer features for creators that need to crop for both instagram and youtube, much better LCD too.
Both? CVP's video showed that the a6700's video is slightly cleaner at 2500 ISO like the FX30. Not sure if it's as clean as the FX30 though. Either way, I think the a6700 could be a good b-cam or back up to the FX30. That being said, I am still waiting to see what the A7Cii has to offer. The A7Cii will most likely have all of the new AI features as the a6700 has, and with a full frame sensor. Crazy times for Sony this year.
I'll be geting the A6700. I do get your point, but here's from someone who's been using mini HDMI for several years on an A7III, A6400 and A5100, never an issue. The first and most important thing to do is to secure so that the cable doesn't "hang" on that input. use the cable clamp of some kind and it'll do it. I've had these cameras on locations many times, albeit mounted on the same C-stand but the wiring had to be done each time anyway - no mini HDMI issues. I won't be waiting for the A7C II because they might just bump the MP to 33 as on the A7IV but then it might create limitations on the video side of things.
Hey mark I’ve noticed that literally nobody talks about the fx3/30 fan noise. I’ve been considering them bc of reliability but i often film in recording studios while the musicians are playing with condenser mics… I tend to be very close to those mics sometimes and was wondering whether that fan would be a problem for me…
I look forward to your videos! Thanks for doing this one. Get yourself a fancy Canadian beer on me.

Im stuck on 3... a6700, FC30 or ZVE 1E the full frame ZVE10 i LOVE my ZVE10
Its great.
Thanks for the comparison. I would definitely choose this camera for hybrid, maybe as a B- Cam on professional work.
Amazing comparison video as always. Appriciat your good work.🙌
I hope you will make a comparison with ZV-E10 too.
The a6700 is fantastic
Decisions, decisions!!
Btw, because of you I took zve10, sigma 16 and 30 mm
Thank you. If you come to Calgary lmk - will be happy to show you the city

Amazing review!! Sony A6700 vs Fujifilm XS20 plss 😍
Thanks Mark@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
Ok thanks for this and looks like I will likely go with the FX30, guessing I’m more a video pro. But still want good still photos.
Nice!! Great value move
I have Sony 11mm, sigma 18-50 and sigma 56mm F1.4. get the sigma 56mm f1.4 for portrait photography it's the best
@@MukhtarEstates That is one of the things I have been thinking about. That 1.4 will be great for blurry backgrounds!

I wish Sony would make a hotshoe EVF adapter for the FX and ZV cameras.
Great communication talent and great sense of humor.
You could be comparing apples to oranges and it would definitely be interesting anyway. Thank you for the good mood. Have you ever thought about doing a talk show?
sounds like a lot of work 🤣
Hey Mark, thanks for the great info! I pre-ordered the a6700 right away. It appears to be the apsc hybrid I've been craving! However, i also have been preparing to purchase the fx30 and it will be here in a couple of days. I have use for both. What a great time to be an apsc shooter! Keep up the great work.
I think those two cameras are all you need
Already have an A6400 and been looking to pair it with the FX30 but now I’m thinking eventually I’ll try to get an A6700 as my main body and upgrade the 6400 to the FX30 over the next year or two
7:14 "cause u dont have any friends" hit hard ngl
🤣🤣
So as a grandfather that wants to video his grandkids football night games from the sidelines on a well lited field and indoor basketball games which would you choose? I average approximately 40 minutes of video per game right now at 4K at 30 fps. I so like to step up to 4K at 60 fps.
Should I upgrade from the zve10 to the a6700?? Bummer that they didn't add the dynamic stabilization.
People look at price mostly is what I have found
Will the 6700 overheat using it as a webcam for a streaming with an hdmi capture card and a dc battery dummy?
It did not overheat for me at all streaming.
Now is the time for the A7s IV to be released with all these features and then some!
thanks for the video btw 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great video again mark
I think this is where I finally choose an APS-C camera (a6700) over a full-frame camera (a7c). I chose a7c over fx30 because it had better photo features (evf, mechanical shutter, etc.) but now the a6700 has them all! Thanks for this comparison!!
I totally agree with that
The A6700 overall looks like a much better camera than the A7C, except for shooting at high iso, i.e. low light.
@@ivandj707 Exactly! To me the only advantage the a7c has is the low light performance.
How about we all just wait for the a7c II 😅
@@markofadljevic1975 A7C II would be king, but it will probably be pricy for most...
Outstanding! Thanks Mark. Hey, didn't I see you on here yesterday? Can't wait for tomorrow. Ok, Buh Bye....
Oh I was here yesterday with my a6700 review. It was a big day!!
Would be nice to see a mega comparison. A6700, A7C, A7lll, R7, R8.
I would love both but I am in love with my a6600 and I think the a6700 for anyone who can’t afford full frames and wants to shoot and record is a no brainer. If the a6600 comes down in price it is plenty good enough for most people.
hmmm u rock bro.... second review zv e10 user... totally follow you... seems like a nice camera... do share some more videos.
Hi Mark, I've given you a few dollars of affiliate income several times now. Lol. I love your channel, so you're welcome. 😊
I bought the ZVE 10 back in January. But after running it through the paces, I decided that was not quite the camera for me. The real deal killers there were lack of 10-bit, 120 FPS and the limitation of 720p USB streaming. That streaming looks like garbage on 2024. Lol
So now a few months later I have purchased the a6700.
I'll try reinserting it a few times and see what happens.
great video. great sense of humour!
Hello,If you had to choose now, and videography was your priority, which one would you choose?
the fx30
Does the A6700 have tally lights on the front so that the talent knows when you recording?
Mark….just last year you talked me into buying a FX30. The year before, you convinced me I needed a ZV-E10. Please stop..I am close to draining my wife’s retirement account. yes it does
Now we need to see an in depth comparison between A6700 and ZV-E10. I guess we need to wait until you are able to use the A6700 for that. Hopefully it is not too many weeks/months before you get one.

the fx30 has a 26 megapixel sensor.
Hello Mark. Can you do a video of the a6700 vs the ZV E10. That's the one i really need. I know i'll be giving up ao quick features like product showcase, zoom rocker, and background deficus. Id sony's 4 year timeframe stands, it will be another 2 years before we get another ZV E10 successor.
the a6700 is definitely a great upgrade.

why 6700 overheats on ather tests and no overheats in you test? Many of them also said that they turn setting to "high". Maybe you can show you test on video and show settings? Maybe you shoot 8 bit on test?

It won't record shutter count. No shutter to wear out 👍

I was thinking about buying a camera for professional movie making, should I consider bmpcc4k or the newly released sony alpha 6700?

I did want more features but a6700 may be absolutely fantastic travel camera bevause of the apsc camera and lens weight.
Excelente video genial 😃✌️

Hello Mark ! Does FX30 have a dedicated AI chip as 6700 ?
No, it does not. I don't find it needs it, because the Ai Chip os more useful in photo
What a superb video
The mini HDMI is the only thing making me want to wait to see what the a7cII will give us
I'll be geting the A6700.
I’ve been considering them bc of reliability but i often film in recording studios while the musicians are playing with condenser mics… I tend to be very close to those mics sometimes and was wondering whether that fan would be a problem for me…
I can never hear the fan - even when it's on. Don't worry about the noise at all - no mic would ever pic it up
Sorry about the poor grammar. I would like to step up to 4K at 60 fps so I could mix in some occasional slowmo shots.
