Thanks for the video Mark! You definitely confirmed why I DON'T have buyer's remorse for purchasing my a6700. Also, It was great meeting you and sitting next to you on the bus ride to the airport after the trip! Great conversation!
Thanks, Mark! I've owned the A6600 for a year and a half now and this is my takeaway if you're getting your first camera: Get the A6700 with the sigma 18-50mm. It'll cover 95% of your needs, all for ~$2000 and it'll easily last you a decade. The quality really is that good. I have the Sigma 16mm and I use it for conference calls mostly, and will be getting the sigma 56mm for the best quality of portrait photos and unique perspectives.
I am a hobbyist photographer and I was looking for an upgrade from Nikon DSLR. This was the exact combination I was able to arrive after one month of research and I purchased A6700 and Sigma 18-50mm. This itself is covering most of my needs and will wait before buying a prime lens
Glad to see this video! One thing though-Since a few of the A7Cii features are limited to APSC/Super35 mode, I'd love to see an addition to the low light test on the full frame but with the crop mode enabled (and presumably then the same APSC lens). Or even just a comment on what to expect in high iso when we swap into that mode.
I love your format of videos!! So great you title every comparison and side by side everything not just flashing then disappearing points on the screen. Thank you so much
I went with the a6700. To me it’s the perfect overall camera. I wanted something very compact including the lenses. I already own the a7r3 and a7s3. I wanted a camera for going out and about, having fun and not worrying about a very expensive setup in certain situations. When I want to take my time and put a lot of effort into my work I’ll take the full frame setups. For everyday use it’s the a6700.
This is exactly the review we were looking for! Big thanks! I'm with the A6700 with the difference invested in the G lens :) due to the fact that it will be my first camera in more than 10 years.
I just got the a6700 and I love it! The 4k 60 and 4k 120frames for shooting skateboarding and sports it's amazing! I already had a lot of APS-C lenses so this was a easy pick for me.
Thank you so much for this review! I've been waiting for this. While A7Cii is just a wonderful camera packed with pretty much everything, I'm going with A6700. If I was a professional photographer, it would be a no-brainer and go with full frame to capture low light performance. Still, because I'm more of a hobbyist and dedicate >90% to photoshooting, I can't justify the high price of the full frame lenses that costs sometimes even more than a new camera body even in the used market... I understand A7Cii body itself is extremely reasonably priced, I'd rather spend those extra $s towards better lenses :) I'll go with A6700 + sigma 18-50mm, SEL35f18, and Sigma56f14.
@@kkdelhi0123 haha i guess you are asking because there are overlapping focal lengths? I chose these lenses after owning several lenses and knowing which focal lengths I like and use the most and what kind of photography I do most ;)
I have the SEL 35F1.8 with my Sony a6300 and it is a really good and very compact lens. With a camera having IBIS like the a6700 I would go for the Sigma 30f1.4. 2/3 of a stop faster and slightly sharper for more or less the same price and only a little bigger than th SEL 35F1.8
Hello Mark! Greetings from Venezuela. Which 24mm f 1.4 lens did you use in this video with the Sony A7CII camera? Could you help me? thank you so much!
Great video. I went with the a6700 put good sony G & GM glass on it and it works perfect. I use it for stills and video and will be vlogging with it in the near future, desktop and walk around, with the 11mm f1.8. IMO, like the a6000, the a6700 will be one of Sony's best selling cameras ever.
Appreciate the comparison! I have been going back and forth on these two. I have lenses for both systems, and have been brainwashed to go FF for the most part. But on a recent trip took my FF setup with multiple lenses, and a small APS-C camera as a backup and after a few days went almost exclusively shooting with the APS-C camera because of size and weight. So here, I'm going with the A6700. These two cameras are soo close in soo many ways and the A6700 is the much better value.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis agreed. I have a Ricoh GRIII that has great IQ but the focus can be spotty. So I find myself thinking the A6700 with some smaller quality APS-C lenses would be a nice compromise between something tiny like the Ricoh GRIII or Fuji X100V and FF set-up.
Thank you very much for this one. I’ve been looking at each of them for a bit, and I’ve already got an A7C and an A6600. But, WOW! I’ve decided that when I can, it’s the A7Cii for sure.
Mark I need your advice. I used Black Magic Camera before. But the Sony is wonderful and I want to switch to Sony. But I do not know which one. I have to decide between the A6700 and the AC7II. I usually do live shows that can last 1 hour 30 minutes. I also record short programs. Could you give me your best recommendation? 🙏🏻🤗
Mark, since you’re my go-to Sony guru, I got a question. Do you pretty much have to shoot in 4K on Sony for good quality rather than HD 1080? I ask because I’m a LUMIX S5ii user. I like it because I can still use HD 1080p for smaller file size and it still looks nice, high quality and crispy. I think with Sony the HD is not really good because they expect everyone to use 4K. Is this the case? I’m looking at getting an A6700 for travel and a second cam. Plus, I like the Sony colors better than LUMIX. Thanks!
I left full frame photography after my kids got older and didn't cooperate with having their pictures taken any longer. I got rid of the Nikon D700 w/ 50/1.4, and started using the original Sony RX100 and, later, the iPhone 5. Now, in retirement, and traveling more, I've regained interest in photography and opted for the 6700 w/ 16-55 G and 70-350 G and a nice backpack to carry it all with. The iPhone 15 pro max will be my video camera.
Thanks for the comparison between the a6700 and the A7Cii. Great video. I have an a6500 that is still working and as an amateur family photographer, it has been a great camera for the last 6+ years. I nearly bought the first A7C around Christmas, but decided the changeover would be too much expense to justify for the photography I do. Since I’m already invested in the APSC lenses, if I need to upgrade my a6500 I would select the a6700 and perhaps invest in another lens or two and still be at or under the cost of the a7Cii. Thanks again.
For stills, you won’t see a huge improvement in image quality (a bump in autofocus, but the a6500 is good in that area too). So lenses is for sure the best way to largely up
i'm in the exactly same situation. i've the A6500 and searching the better replacement. thinking about A7IV, A7C II and A6700. but, the value of the lenses of the apsc's cameras, adding the fact of these three cameras was so close in so many ways, makes me thinking choose the A6700.
Thanks Mark, I was waiting for this comparison! I'm currently on an a6000 with a few lenses and thinking of making an upgrade. I mostly use my camera for travel photography. I love the colors on the A7c ii, they seem a bit more natural. Also low light is awesome. So I'm thinking of making the transition to full-frame. However, the a6700 is great as well, more affordable and keeping it light and compact. This makes the transition to full-frame more like wishful thinking. I guess I can rent both camera's and see which suits best.
in the same exact boat! video features aside though the a6000 is still so competent and similar enough to the a6700 that i yearn for FF. Extra res plus FF lenses and better lens adaptation are huge for me personally though so a7cii will likely take the cake
@@MrSwaggernaut83 I bit the bullet and got the a6700 this weekend. I haven't tried it out yet. My reasoning was, I still own quite some high quality aps-c glass. I don't see myself paying the extra price and carry the extra weight of full frame during holidays. After 5 years I expect for my needs and level of expertise an a6700 gives still a nice follow-up in learning more about photography. I can always start by putting a full frame lens on my a6700 if I'm not satisfied with the results. I don't print anything, so I don't expect to see a big difference between aps-c and fullframe.
@@MrSwaggernaut83 A little update: after a few sessions with the a6700 I wasn't completely convinced it was a large enough upgrade. So I decided to get the A7cii with a sigma 28-70. After one night walk through Amsterdam I was impressed by its low light capabilities. The size is pretty much the same as the 6700 and there are enough compact and affordable lenses for full frame as well. Did you end up getting the a7cii as well?
I just bought the 200-600 lens for my a7iv and I have my eyes on that a6700 for wildlife. I use my Canon R7 right now but the AF on that misses far more often than I would like. I'm sure the a6700 would be much better for birds. Thanks for another great video my friend!
My case, I use the 6400 with 200-600 for birding the crop is awesome but the light when pointing up to the trees no! So looking for a update 7C or 6700 still don’t know 😢!!
The A6700 fits my needs perfectly. I have a complement of APS-C and Full Frame lenses, but when I do decide to get a full-frame camera, the A7C II is the one I will add to my bag. But for the time being, the A6700 does everything I need. Even for the odd professional work. Great video!
A6700 is a value proposition killer at this price. As much as I would love to feel fancy going full frame with the A7CII (which I REALLY, REALLY want since the A7IV came out - my favorite Sony camera to date and the A7CII being its cheaper sibling is an amazing choice), the price difference alone is a deal breaker. For what I do in terms of content, I could have incredibly high production value with the A6700 and a few great prime lenses within the price of just the A7CII body. And then it gets more pricey once you need to utilize that sensor with full frame lenses... That is way too difficult to just overlook. A6700 - a clear winner. PS Plus I already own the ZV-E10 with the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 thanks to Mark over here so the A6700 feels like a natural addition to the studio while keeping the APS-C vibe alive.
Thank you Mark for the helpful and informative comparative video! I'm very interested to buy A7C II. By the way, Have you used A7C II with strobes? I have concern if 1/160 sync speed is enough for studio works!!! God bless and good luck!
Hey Mark, thanks for the concise review everyone's waited for (including me) 😅. It was a tough choice for me but finally I went for the 6700. Especially since I already got 2 ZV-E10 cameras (one of your favorites) and various APS-C lenses for my video podcast. Even though I was up to buying the A7C II for months, it feels like the better deal (for me) to stick with APS-C. And honestly, I barely shoot/record/vlog in extreme lowlight. Greets from Cologne, Germany 😎lli
I have a6700 and I love it! I’ve shot POV street photography here in the Phillipines (video in my channel), noon time and did not experience overheating.
After watching some of your videos, got a brand new ZVe-10 recently for 570 euros here in the Netherlands to start my UA-cam channel. It was on sale so i got quite a good deal I'd say. Compared to my previous Nikon Z5 , this Sony is surprisingly small, lightweight and quite cute. Love it! Thanks for the content!
Great job walking through pros and cons with examples. Subscribed. Picture on A7C II looked more natural in most examples but not 50 % better to match 50% increase. Low light is my main concern for a6700...
Been waiting for this comparison. Either camera is a big jump up from any of the Sony apsc line. I'm leaning a6700 as an upgrade from my a6400. Don't see the extra 1k+ CAD being worth it for the a7c ii fir my purposes. P.S.: Congrats on becoming one of the cool kids.
Great video, Mark. I have a question. I'm setting up a video podcast studio. I have two ZV-10s for the individual shots (left and right), and I was thinking of getting a full-frame camera for the center shot. Should I go with the A7C II over the A6700? The difference in price is around £250 for me in the UK. I was thinking that since the A7C II is newer, it might help future-proof my setup a bit more. What's your opinion? Thanks.
The a6700 with a sigma 56mm, a 16mm Sony prime, and the 18-135 kit lens is what i went with. For just starting a photography business everyone has been happy with what ive taken so far. I want to eventually get a full frame probably the A7Cr. Any recommendations on other APSC lenses to get? Sigma 18-50?
I honestly will go with the a6700 as my first real camera, and to start doing professional work with it. Honestly it doesn't matter as much if you get full frame or not, or the most expensive camera or not, if you know what to do, you will get great results regardless
True its better than maybe 95% of cameras released between 1960 to 2000 and guess what, we had professional photographers back then too, so it's more then capable.
Crazy the difference in background blur between APS-C and Full Frame. I haven’t found a use for THAT much blur yet… but I can see myself grabbing something like the A7C or the E1 down the road for that reason (and low light).
I already own both A7R5 and A6700. A7CII and A7CR don't cross my mind at all because they just cut a lot of good features from the bigger camera e.g. EVF, hi-res flip-tilt screen of A7R5, 2 memory slots, CF Express, etc. If it is a macro day when I need lots of megapixels, I will bring A7R5. For any typical days, I prefer A6700 that is easier to carry with smaller lenses. Better than A7C series, IMO.
I'm pretty committed to the Sony APS-C line so would take the A6700 in a heartbeat (I have other FF stuff already). My clients don't care and I like the portableness (word?), cheaper glass, and smaller files. Glad to see you finally getting the industry spotlight you so handsomely deserve.
Thanks for the excellent review as always. I own the a7iv and recently purchased the a6700 for vlogging and for use as a podcast camera. I haven’t tried using it yet for recording past an hour but have concerns with it potentially overheating, while interviewing guest in my studio. Since I already have an a7iv would it make sense to exchange the a6700 for an fx30? I want a secondary camera to accompany my a7iv to have another angle. I must say I really like the a6700’s versatility and new features but I am torn on whether it will also serve my podcast needs. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
for long podcasts, the fx30 would be better. But you as long as you don't plug in the a6700 to an HDMI monitor, you'll probably get some pretty long run times. I would test it out a few times in your studio - run it for as longs as it will go.
Good video! If you had a comparison, what camera of the R series would you compare the 6700 too? I’m new to this and looking for a camera for family sporting as well as professional sporting.
the if you're talking Sony - the a7cR is much closer to the the a6700 than anything else in the R series. If you meant Canon R mount - the the Canon R7 is closest. But the R7 doesn't have many lenses available for it and the ones that are available are almost all full frame and quite expensive. The camera is really good though
If I can afford it no question A7C II, because same size and weight with and much better low light denoise. I can slap on both FE and my old E lens. No need to buy new backpack either. I'm also hoping Panasonic miniaturize their Lumix S5 II.
for sure, same audience will see all reviewer. for me, you are still the best for comparison product. text lists comparison on your video help a lot and other reviewer not do this.. keep up the good work and thank you..
I own an A7M3 for the past 6-7 years. it is starting to age, the electronic is sometimes lagging when I turn on off, switch from presets. I waited for something smaller, APSC or FF, I wasn't sure about it. When the A6700 came out, I thought this is it. I also have some glass for for FF already, therefore I wanted to wait for the A7Cii. After watching this video at least two dozen times and considering the pros and cons for each of the two, the prices are fluctuating quite a bit here in Europe. but once the price dropped by 500 I bought the A7CII. This camera is amazing so far. Any of the disadvantages, did not apply to me. I don't know anything better than this, so all good. The raw files are not identified by my OS and editing SW, so I used that VPN trick to go to Turkey spot and bought the subscription from there. Amazing cheap. I had a lot of fun over Christmas and New Year taking photos. it is so small and light, I took it almost anywhere, even if it just fill up the car. Taking fotos with this device is just pure fun.
1. This is what I've been deciding between! A7C II (crop mode w/ APSC lenses) or the a6700. I may buy one FF lens, but want to stay compact and I have a lot of APSC lenses already 2. How much Sony swag did you pick up?
not much because I’m dumb. there was a nd filter and a Sony tough card and a duffel bag. I forgot to ask for anything so I came home with a shirt and a hdmi cable from Gerald 🤣🤣
Thank you for all these videos. Picking a camera is hard! Need Help!!! Only buying One Camera! What I need: I need a camera for podcasting (35 minutes - Hour 1:15 normally) Something that can take pictures of our newborn and pictures when we travel. Podcasting Office gets a little warm in the summer - (Worried about overheating issues) What I was looking at: I was dead set on the ZV-E1 but overheating issues scared me off! What I am now looking at: FX30 - Looks like its great for videos Sony A7CII - Looks like it could be great for videos and pictures What are your thoughts????
Thank you Mark for the great video. If I mainly do video (mostly 4k60), little bit of photo and owned some full frame /APSC lenses, which camera should I go for and can last for few years? Thanks in advance.
I currently have a Sony DSLR that I mostly used for the kid's hockey. Was thinking of switching to mirrorless. The speed and lighting constraints of hockey is a hard situation for photography. Do you think the A6700 could work well in that situation? Would I lose autofocus functionality by using my current Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens on it. I heard it takes Sony DSLR lenses like that with an adapter. Would a setup like that affect the autofocus (would I need to go manual because of that)? Or would I be forced to also get a new lens for hockey?
Lenses. Full-frame lenses are more expensive and heavier. Most APS-C lenses can't resolve the lines per mm of a 25Mp APS-C sensor anyway. However, inexpensive full-frame lenses lose a lot of that image advantage.
This is the video I’ve been searching all week last week haha. Thinking about upgrading my A6400 and have been eyeing the a6700 but was kinda in the middle in going full frame. I guess I’ll stay APSC for a while haha. Thanks Mark. Hope to see you hitting 100k subs soon! Cheers. (I’m the guy from the gym💪🏽😎)
I'm an aps-c guy in my heart, but on a random note, while I knew you were a Canadian, I always thought you were out west. Never realized you were in Toronto. Like I said, very random... ❤ thanks for the vid
Tough call, I want to switch from my A7III to the A7cii, but I have the A6500 and the size of the APSC lenses is hard to beat. Oh well, I have pushed the decision back to when I can hold both cameras in my hand at a shop
Very good video and a good comparison of these two cameras, as always with a grain of humour…👍 I learned as well that you are producing your videos in the city of my favourite NHL team.😊 I have ordered the A6700 and when Sony launched the A7 CII, I was tempted to switch and cancel the order. This video showed that the differences between the two cameras in terms of video and image quality are not dramatic. When you look on Sony’s website two sample images of -I think- the same model, it is impossible for me to notice any difference in image quality even cropping in. Cropping in with the A7C II compared to the A6700 does not offer much advantage (crop to APSC gives approx. 15 MP, reaching 26 MP allows an approx. 1.1 crop), so most likely I will stay with the A6700. Cheers
Mark great video as usual! You always give me some things to think about. From my old full-frame days (about 6 months ago!) I still have the excellent Sony 24mm F1.4 GM, which I am keeping. I am thinking about the A6700 and an FX30, or two A6700 cameras. I like the idea of moving to lighter weight and cheaper lenses. I currently would consider myself a hybrid shooter, a bit more photo, but am thinking about getting more into video (spending some more time this fall and winter learning how to use my gear in that direction). I have the Sony A7Cii on order (my older full frame was the A7C), on the wait list for the Sony A6700 and could get the Sony FX30 right now. I was thinking about one of each, then the Sony 11mm F1.8 (or the 15mm F1.4), the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8, and maybe the Sigma 56mm f1.4 which would give me some good flexibility for both photo and video. Thoughts?
Sony 11 would be best for handheld footage of yourself because it is wide. But if you don’t need that, the 15 is overall the best video lens to get for apsc (talking heads, interviews, documentary). The sigma 18-50 would be an excellent all purpose photo lens (or the Tamron 17-70 2.8). The sigma 56 or the viltrox 75 are amazing for portrait photos.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Mark, thanks for that. With the A7C and my larger lenses, it just became a bit of a hassle for travel. I think the APS-C stuff for photo and video, especially these packages you can put together like the Sigma trio, the mid-range Sigma zoom, some of the new Sony lenses, and the Viltox stuff there are a lot of good choices.
thanks for great sharing, i reall stuck on choosing between these two. A6700 overheating and batterylife shorter. A7C 4K 60p cropped but battery life longer. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
ngl I preferred how your skintone looked on the A6700 in everything except low light. That surprised me. Thanks for comparing them. They are both a great size, as for cam bodies A6700 should have the smaller handle to fit in a pocket more easily 6cm width is pushing it but a6700 is 7.5cm wide and this stretches your pocket hard. A7C II should be full black body, its not because of looks its just so light doesn't reflect off it, this is the reason cameras are generally black.
Thanks for this review Mr. Mark I am still struggling with the choice. I already have the Sony a 7 IV which is the same sensor as the A7CII and all only a bit bigger. I am new to this stuff only a couple months in but I do feel like a smaller camera would make it easier for some shoots and traveling. So I wanted to ask when it comes to video as a priority and taking pictures as a secondary which would you recommend mainly for traveling and doing some UA-cam/travel vlogs and of course taking the normal holiday pictures
Thanks for the really helpful presentation, it really answered most of my questions! (no, I'm not affiliated with the channel!) Here are a couple of more questions I have though: When using both cameras above ISO 5.000 and going up to 10.000 (roughly) is the 6700 still much worse? And the second question: Does S-Cinetone on both cameras give the same result on correcting highlights in post, compared to using an HLG profile? I don't use S-Log, I prefer HLG2 in the day and Cine-4 at night, with details down to -100 for night shooting. I own both the 6300 and 6400 and I am also trying to decide. Yes, I do mind giving the extra dollars but I would if I decide to. I mostly use the cameras primarily for stock videos and photos and then YT travel videos, not often for commissioned works. I hate the bad rolling shutter my cameras have and want to upgrade, plus it seems these cameras will give a much better handheld still video if I am not panning, so I will not have to use my gimbals! When travelling with equipment, including a gimbal, I might walk up to 24 km a day so if I go for a full frame I will have to buy a new heavier lens and use my big Ronin gimbal, instead of using my lighter Zhyiun Crane. I use stabilised lenses, the 18-135 Sony zoom and the 35mm Sony f 1.8 prime. I wanted to buy the 16mm Sigma 1.4 but it has no stabilisation so, here's my 3rd question: If I am to use the Sigma at night, with the f1.4 (a bit closed to a slower f) could I get away with using no more than ISO 1250 so would this beat the point of using the A7CII? All these thoughts are running like thin air in my mind and I can't decide!
I've been looking to replace my a6300 for a while. I'm quite torn between these two cameras. I would love to get the A7CR or A7RV but have to draw the line somewhere $$$ (I have a lot of APSC glass). I'd like to start dabbling with full frame, but would cropping to 14 MP be too much of a sacrifice? I would love to see some side by sides of how the images look. Been thinking of rather getting the a6700, adding a Sony 200-600 and upgrading to a full frame body later (not all in one go). Thoughts? I really want the new AI autofocus. Looking at new bodies my top line item is autofocus. Second is low light performance. Thought about an A7RIV (used) but I want the autofocus.
Thank you for the video. You promised and delivered. A difference you left out that bothers many on the forums is that the A7CII lacks a full two curtain mechanical shutter of the A6700 that allows the Electronic First Curtain Shutter to be disable to in some cases give you better Bokah with wide apertures and fast shutter speeds. Also the slower 1/160 for flash synchronization is another again impacting the usage with strobes. I haven’t decided if that will impact me but I do already have the A6700. Currently own the A7RV an A7IV so ultimately I can work around those but portability then goes away. Also still struggling to decide between A7C II or A7CR but really didn’t want to spend the extra money on the CR. Will see. Thank you again.
the flash sync speed could cause issues depending on how you shoot. But the e-front curtain shutter would only cause a problem if the sensor readout was slow, so on these cameras, it’s not an issue. I was speaking to a Sony engineer and he said if you have a newer Sony camera, even if you could turn off e-front curtain shutter, you shouldn’t, because you won’t see any negative effects and it will help you get your shot faster.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I've unfortunatelly sold my A7IV recently so I can no longer test it, but it was an issue that happened on A7IV ua-cam.com/video/veXC56OCVzU/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared&t=229 ( if timestamp doesnt work then its 3:49). Seeing as this is pretty much A7 IV, I doubt it would be differnet.
I need a pitch black comparison between A7C, A7Cii, and ZV-e1. This will determine my purchase of my next camera. Currently on A7C, but once/if you post this three way comparison, I'll choose my upgrade path. I'm dead serious, you're all I need, Mark.
I don't need to do the test. Get the ZV-E1. Although I have a video coming out tomorrow with the zv-e1 vs a7cii lowlight test which will help you. But get the Zv-e1 if shooting in pitch black.
the smaller the sensor size, generally you’ll see a little “over-sharpening” to make up for it. it’s not bad at all with the apsc, but you start to notice it a lot more with micro 4/3 and especially phone cameras
Hi Mark. Thank you the the comparison video. As a a6700 owner that only is interested in photography, will you recommend the a7cII as good full frame companion with photography as the center point? I was also looking into the a7IV as prices have dropped quite a bit and there a few offers lingering online. I upgraded previously from point and shoots to the ZVE10 and the from ZVE10 to a6700. I’ll appreciate your comment!s
Yes, absolutely. The A7IV has a better viewfinder experience and 2 card slots for redundant recording and 1/8000 mechanical shutter vs 1/4000 for the A7CII. But the aA7CII has more subject detection and the new ai autofocus - either way - they are amazing full frame cameras
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisHi Mark. Just want to follow up on this. I do not know down which rabbit hole I went, but ended up getting the a7cR. Phenomenal camera and very much satisfied…!
Hey! I really love your Videos and i Need camera decision help from you! I hope for your help. 🌸 I'm a happy owner of the zve10 (because of you😊) , but for Videos I switched to the dji osmo pocket 3 bc its fantastic. Ill travel to Japan in a few weeks and I was thinking to Upgrade my photo camera setup, so that my boyfriend can use the zve10 for pictures, while I can use another one. Im Not really Sure which sony camera is now the right one to go. I want to go in the Little bit more professionell fotography and enjoy my Hobby to the fullest in Japan. I cant decide. I really like the screen on the 7 III, but well, is it worth to go to the 7 III when there are newer options? The camera should be with ne for Many years on Sony e lenses without an Upgrade needed. Also i own the beautiful apsc viltrox 75 1.2 lens.. And i love using it Thanks in advance 😊
The a7iii is still fantastic and will take great images for many years. The A7Cii would be a good option if you wanted the latest tech, but the pictures will still look very similar.
Cool meeting you brutha!
Likewise, man!!
I was literally searching for this video yesterday and once again, Mark comes in clutch.
Me, Literallly Today. Sadly my ZVE10 was caught in the elements yesterday & im in need of a new camera.
Was trying to focus on what you were saying but distracted by the handsomeness, restarting video now
You can't blame yourself. I was putting out the vibe.
Thanks for the video Mark! You definitely confirmed why I DON'T have buyer's remorse for purchasing my a6700. Also, It was great meeting you and sitting next to you on the bus ride to the airport after the trip! Great conversation!
Haha!! Great choice of cameras and seat-mates.
Great setup
I am a hobbyist photographer and I was looking for an upgrade from Nikon DSLR. This was the exact combination I was able to arrive after one month of research and I purchased A6700 and Sigma 18-50mm. This itself is covering most of my needs and will wait before buying a prime lens
This is the exact setup I have and couldn’t agree more. I will also be buying the Sigma 56mm fairly soon.
I thought you were just calling your lenses Sigma, until i realised you meant the brand 😂
this is going to be my exact first camera setup, hopefully black friday has some good sales for me!
Thank you so much
This man makes the most informative comparison videos on the platform! Really underrated!
I appreciate that!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis l agree! And his humor is amazing too.
I’m stuck between these two and the ZVE1. Excited to see the next comparison 🙏🤓
For everyday use it’s the a6700.
great setup!!
Exactly the same for me. It is also a competent b cam for multicam shoots because of that current-gen Sony image quality
What lenses are you using with the a6700?
Everyone says a6700 is compact but it’s almost the same size as a7cii and a7c (and those are full frame cameras)
@@raynsvolleyballmaybe lenses are heavy for full frame
This is exactly the review we were looking for! Big thanks! I'm with the A6700 with the difference invested in the G lens :) due to the fact that it will be my first camera in more than 10 years.
I just got the a6700 and I love it! The 4k 60 and 4k 120frames for shooting skateboarding and sports it's amazing! I already had a lot of APS-C lenses so this was a easy pick for me.
love 4K 120!!
Can't wait for the A7CII vs ZVE1 next! Thanks for all the awesomeness!
I understand A7Cii body itself is extremely reasonably priced, I'd rather spend those extra $s towards better lenses :) I'll go with A6700 + sigma 18-50mm, SEL35f18, and Sigma56f14.
sigma 18-50mm, SEL35f18, and Sigma56f14.
can anyone support his choice of lenses or selection can be better ?
@@kkdelhi0123 haha i guess you are asking because there are overlapping focal lengths? I chose these lenses after owning several lenses and knowing which focal lengths I like and use the most and what kind of photography I do most ;)
the SEL35F18 is a great lens for a very reasonable price! i still use it with my NEX-3
The 24mm GM from Sony
Bought the A6700 and absolutely love it
Great video.
It is an amazing value. I must say that I find myself bringing my smallest cameras travelling these days
Im thinking just using my pff primes with this! I think it will be a great travel combo.
The a7cii is e better choice of you don’t need 4k120
This is what I’ve been looking for the last week!
@@justinstraver24 logical! Enjoy the camera, it should perform a lot better with the backside illuminated sensor
PS Plus I already own the ZV-E10 with the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 thanks to Mark over here so the A6700 feels like a natural addition to the studio while keeping the APS-C vibe alive.
sounds like a great and smart setup to me!!
Thank you Mark for the helpful and informative comparative video! I'm very interested to buy A7C II. By the way, Have you used A7C II with strobes? I have concern if 1/160 sync speed is enough for studio works!!! God bless and good luck!
Hey Mark,
thanks for the concise review everyone's waited for (including me) 😅.
Greets from Cologne, Germany
😎lli
the a6700 is fantastic (and so is the ZV-E10!!)
I would love a photo comparison in low light for upcoming videos. No one seems to do this on yt
Thank you Mark.
I have the ZV E10 and A7c II and couldn't be happier 😊
I have a6700 and I love it! I’ve shot POV street photography here in the Phillipines (video in my channel), noon time and did not experience overheating.
Nice work Mark, glad you got to attend the Sony event and meet all those other crazy Creators! Cheers from the West Coast.
Love it!
Thanks for the content!
glad to hear it!!
Great job walking through pros and cons with examples. Subscribed. Picture on A7C II looked more natural in most examples but not 50 % better to match 50% increase. Low light is my main concern for a6700...
welcome aboard!!
This is the one we've been we've waiting for!!!
I am super cool now 🤣
The most informative camera guy on UA-cam.❤️🇧🇩
Great video, Mark. I have a question. I'm setting up a video podcast studio. I have two ZV-10s for the individual shots (left and right), and I was thinking of getting a full-frame camera for the center shot. Should I go with the A7C II over the A6700? The difference in price is around £250 for me in the UK. I was thinking that since the A7C II is newer, it might help future-proof my setup a bit more. What's your opinion?
Thanks.
thank you for comparing these 2 beast! been waiting for this comparison video and got my new a6700 a week ago and i love it!
it's so great
These recent videos are all well and good, Mark, but where is your “Sony A7CII vs. Sony A7CII” comparison?
🤣🤣on the way
The a6700 with a sigma 56mm, a 16mm Sony prime, and the 18-135 kit lens is what i went with.
Love the humour at the end and this series of reviews has persuaded me to get the A7CII as a third studio camera and main outdoor for talking heads
I'm sure you'll love it
Thanks for the comparison between the a6700 and the A7Cii. Great video.
I like your setup!!
Portability
@@bhavyakamboj That, too… 😉
finely someone makes the A7C II vs A6700 comparison video, tnx mark ^^
I would test it out a few times in your studio - run it for as longs as it will go.
hi and thx for sharing all those impressions and comparisons . great video! 👍
Thank you Mark, been waiting for this comparison video!
Thanks!!
It’s amazing
Great comparison! I have made my decision to go for A6700, it's just perfect for a beginner
1. This is what I've been deciding between! A7C II (crop mode w/ APSC lenses) or the a6700. I may buy one FF lens, but want to stay compact and I have a lot of APSC lenses already
2. How much Sony swag did you pick up?
not much because I’m dumb. there was a nd filter and a Sony tough card and a duffel bag. I forgot to ask for anything so I came home with a shirt and a hdmi cable from Gerald 🤣🤣
That’s how I’m leaning also. A7Cii with my apsc lenses and find one all around FF lens and call it a day.
Thank you for all these videos. Picking a camera is hard! Need Help!!! Only buying One Camera!

What I was looking at:
I was dead set on the ZV-E1 but overheating issues scared me off!
What I am now looking at:
FX30 - Looks like its great for videos
Sony A7CII - Looks like it could be great for videos and pictures
What are your thoughts????
I watched this video and saw how great the a6700 is. It really packs a punch for its size and price so i just recently bought the a7c2
Thank you Mark for the great video. If I mainly do video (mostly 4k60), little bit of photo and owned some full frame /APSC lenses, which camera should I go for and can last for few years? Thanks in advance.
I would do the A7cii
Thank you for making this video. Very insightful.
A7C II vs A6700 vs Fujifilm X100VI for travel / hobby use?
The A7CII will give you the most verstatility

Tough call, I want to switch from my A7III to the A7cii, but I have the A6500 and the size of the APSC lenses is hard to beat. Oh well, I have pushed the decision back to when I can hold both cameras in my hand at a shop
Very good video and a good comparison of these two cameras, as always with a grain of humour…👍
I learned as well that you are producing your videos in the city of my favourite NHL team.😊
I have ordered the A6700 and when Sony launched the A7 CII, I was tempted to switch and cancel the order.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis What do you think about Sony's 16 -55 lens, I'm planning to buy it. pls give me some your advise . Thank you so much
thanks for great sharing, i reall stuck on choosing between these two. A6700 overheating and batterylife shorter. A7C 4K 60p cropped but battery life longer. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
not to complicate things - but the battery life is about the same
ngl I preferred how your skintone looked on the A6700 in everything except low light.
The a7cii is great for that. The image will be the same as your A7IV- but it is a noticeably smaller camera with better autofocus for more subjects
Love your comparisons and all your videos. You are the non technical everyday persons Gerald Undone. Love Gerald too.
he’s a good dude
10s in and I had to check if you were from Newfoundland. Love it. :)
yes, b’y I is
Which lenses you have used to compare in low light conditions?
Hey Mark, Can I stream via usb c connection to my pc. Or do I have to get cam link 4k? For a7c II.
Just LOVE your content 😎
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you for your reply.
I going to Toronto next month. I’m thinking about A7C II while there if it will be available then. Where would you recommend buying it?
Henry’s, Downtown Camera or Vistek are all good in Toronto. just Google which one is closer to where you are staying.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis you're a hero. My hero.
it’s up now
Thank you for your very good video. I think to pay 6700 or 7ii. looks like similar the same…..
Thanks for the comparison!
Your face looks sharper with the A6700 than with the A7cii in all recordings.
Any explanation?
the smaller the sensor size, generally you’ll see a little “over-sharpening” to make up for it. it’s not bad at all with the apsc, but you start to notice it a lot more with micro 4/3 and especially phone cameras
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you very much Sir…!
I'm a happy owner of the zve10 (because of you😊) , but for Videos I switched to the dji osmo pocket 3 bc its fantastic.
And i love using it
Thanks in advance 😊
The a7iii is still fantastic and will take great images for many years. The A7Cii would be a good option if you wanted the latest tech, but the pictures will still look very similar.
I want them both, i'm really a fan of the more smaller and portable concept!🥰
Me too!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Awesome!😃
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis i already have the A6700 and i seriously love that camera!
