- There is a moment on Pleasure Island that hints at the donkey fate of the title character and his new friend Lampwick. During the scene where the two boys are irresponsibly smoking cigars, drinking beer and playing a game of pool, Pinocchio sits on a wooden chair. If you look closely, the chair actually has a carving of a donkey on it. This hints at Lampwick’s transformation into a donkey minutes later and Pinocchio’s partial transformation happening around the same time.

Mickey Mouse goes to the island and it’s fallen into disrepair so I think that was disneys way of saying that he didn’t get away with it.

The shadow of the boy loosing his human form and screaming like a donkey is too cruel. The bad guy won.
Ahh yes I liked that movie. Pinocchio was my childhood right there. Pinocchio learned a lesson about talking to strangers which was a bad idea cause he got sold to a puppeteer that kidnapped him but with the fairy’s help was set free from the cage and he listened to Honest John again and got sold off to an island with an amusement park that was cursed. Not everybody can be trusted ya know. And about that island, it was cursed. It turned out that when children are naughty they get cursed to be donkeys, some gets sold to a circus and some still kept behind. If they didn’t want to be donkeys they should’ve been good little boys, they made their bed now they must sleep in it. If Jimmy Cricket didn’t find out about it, Pinocchio would’ve been full donkey like the rest of the boys, they got off the island before the transformation was complete. My favorite part was when Pinocchio became a real boy after the selfless act of risking his life for Geppetto. And Jimminy Cricket became his official conscience. It was nice having him around cause at least he can keep Pinocchio out of trouble.
I know but the poor little boy who was begging for his momma he deserved to be rescued 😢
Apparently, in the original story Pinocchio was fully transformed as well but eventually returned to be human

It’s not about the alcohol and cigars. You’re missing the message behind the donkey transformation.
They’re underaged truants and delinquents. The coachmen went out to search for kids that are purposely skipping school/ running away and causing mischief and lures them into pleasure island. Although cruel, the message in the 1940s was to teach kids to obey their parents and not fall into delinquencies.
We realize after hanging around the wrong people we often get in more serious trouble than them and our reputation is ruined
Now that I'm older I'm just now noticing the donkey, and it's made me realize how dark this movie was😨
When I first watched it as a kid, I honestly wasn't shocked that something bad was going to happen to the boys. The behavior and words of the Coachman alone were enough to make me realize that "bad karma" was on the horizon.
Thought I was the only one who spotted that before. Some scary stuff man. That's some metamorphosis shit.

Playing pool is not naughty or mischievous it’s a fun activity people do socially, the other things like smoking vandalism drinking etc is bad

Its called foreshadowing. Its when you drop hints of whats to come. Like putting a donkey around the kids about to turn into asses.
