The scariest animated kids movie scene EVER

- Happy Halloween! (I know it's early but it's all in the SPIRIT of things)
anyway, this clip is from "Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night". It may not be the scariest moment in kids movie history, but it still is quite disturbing (reference to Courage the Cowardly Dog episode "The Great Fusilli"). Sweet Dreams... - Розваги
Fun fact: Disney actually tried to sue this movie, but the judge said that the characters were too different from Disney's version.
Fook disney lol
F*uck Disney, seriously. The way the treat original content and source material is atrocious.
I say fuck disney too. All of their cartoons are stolen and than they claim they own them.
@@rantingsw3de what do you mean?
@@umairashraf5167 original Pinocchio was tall. Disney was the first studio to make him short and nice cause the original one was tall and mean.
I bet Twinkle was a real girl before to be a puppet.
This scene scares me.
Maggie Pastry I believe so... I have the full movie and at the end twinkle becomes human and says “I’m free”! Who knows? The movie doesn’t really give anything much about her. Just Pinocchio‘s crush
She was.. She reminds me of Melania Trump 🤣🤷🏼♀️
I think she was cursed by the emperor but it does not show it at the beginning and instead of running away Pinocchio saw her beauty and there must had been horror in her eyes as she looked at him turning into a puppet as if she was to say it’s a trap get out go. He should have left when the crowd did and get help. But Pinocchio knew he had power within him over evil and wanted to help her. In the end his victory against the emperor from his sacrifice for his father also freed her and they became friends how cute just goes show a kind heart always wins that’s what the fairy godmother said.
At the end when she’s brought to life she even cheers saying “I’m free!” Implying that yeah, she was once alive before becoming a puppet.
The song she sang, all the puppets hanging from the walls, I believe it to be true added to the fact her face at 5:15 and at the end when her head lowers, she has no mouth yet she wants to scream...
The saddest part was when Twinkle knew what was going to happen to him. :/
In her mind she wanted to scream RUNNN!!! GET OUT OF HERE PINOCCHIO NOW!!! God I remember the expressions Twinkle had thru this scene. As soon as the head fell down I bet she said Pinocchio I am so sorry :(
His jaw clicking shut mid sentence is really disturbing.
yeah that freaked me out bad when I first saw it.
That's the part I remember vividly from childhood. This film really freaked me out.
I don't know what to feel more unsettled about, besides that puppet master's lips and skin, except "You'll stop when I want you to!" Can we just tell our children that this is child trafficking, with strings literally attached?
Avatarofhendrix I completely agree! This whole scene is a work of art. Beauty and freedom mixed with horror and a false sense of security... twinkles part was the icing on the cake. Masterpiece!
@@brighteyes6585 I think for me, Pinocchio crying and the imploring way he speaks that last half-sentence, combined with how funny Puppetino thinks the whole thing is. Just monstrous. How the image of a grown man doing this to a kid for seemingly his own gratification being in a childrens' film is beyond me.
When you sign your first record deal

Aint that the Truth!
*cue lady gaga bad romance intro*
When Twinkle slowly tilts down after he fully becomes a puppet :(
Buttered Toast yeah she must have seen something special in him. Don’t worry she does become human in the end when he sacrifices himself what a hero.
The last humanity she once had.
Though a puppet, somehow she is at least partially sentient
Buttered Toast
Hopefully it's reversal
Twinkle:"Oh, Pinocchio..."
Me: *IT'S A TRAP*
I've definitely seen scarier, but that moment when Pinnochio's voice just stops and his puppet-lips click a couple of times before complete immobility made my stomach do a flip.
What do you mean you have seen scarier, have you fought Giygas yet?
@@gavindakealeon9041 I couldn't sleep for weeks after fighting him 😟
Bruhhh...
What scenes were scarier? I want to know just to see more good movies.
@@yoboibeerus1387First thing that comes to mind is Satoshi Kon's Paprika... and by that I mean almost the entire movie.
the darkest thing about this is the damn song Twinkle is singing.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious like, everyone is just hearing the upbeat tune and not really hearing what she's saying.
What's she really saying?

It's not until the last half where it starts to turn dark. Mothers & Fathers onward, when it her voice first turns melancholy. The last two lines are are also playing on 'hold you now' sounding instead like hold you down. If there's one place this movie really succeeds at, it's in the music. There's some really great atmospheric stuff and a few vocal bits that set the stage really well. In short though, she's portraying her slavery as a puppet as this great thing(presumably she ran away in a fit of pique and got Pinocchio's treatment, as this scene implies this is old hat for Puppetino.
@@chibipoe Sorry, I don't understand what is she saying in the video and when I found lyrics on the internet I was surprised.
Edit: You didn't have to write that much just to explain.
Also I know you used copy and paste to paste lyrics, you didn't have to explain, I just needed lyrics.
@@chibipoe it's darker before mothers n fathers too
Its very interesting how everyone says Twinkles song is cute or adorable but its actually quite sad. The underlying darkness of “do what you want to/do what makes you happy” does not always mean you will be happy. Actions have consequences. Not to mention her talking about no family or friends to turn to. A sad song in the guise of pleasure, a common theme in Pinnochio.
Yea the whole song is a lie, her talking about doing what she wants, going where she will.......she can't do ANYTHING she wants or go anywhere she wants....she's a slave
The music kind of stops when she says “nowhere to go, no one to hold you” it’s so creepy
Thank you for solving what creeped me out about it I was trying to figure out what it was
Her song has a similar theme to that of Pleasure Island, its fun to live freely and without rules but living recklessly leads to consequences.
She's a Judas Lamb. Meant to bait new victims for the Emperor's collection. Sign away your free will and become a puppet to your fame.
This would have severely disturbed me as a child. Even now I feel this weird feeling in my stomach.
It gave me nightmares 😩
That also happens to my whenever I feel nervous or scared😟
I would have enjoyed this movie as a kid.
I saw this crap when I was around 2-3 years old and it was like experiencing otherworldly horror. First time I remember being freaked out by something
you know this reminds me of the episode from grizzly's tales for gruesome kids, about a boy who's such a chatterbox, he's turned into a puppet to keep his mouth shut
Pinocchio begging for him to stop as he changes into a puppet is horrific. He's essentially begging for his life.
Thank goodness the Good Fairy comes and changes him back.
It’s honestly reminiscent of Lampwick’s transformation in the Disney version.
@@capncake8837 I think that scene had nothing on this, and that is saying something
Yes his begging has been recorded in my head for over 24 years its traumatizing
I don't remember this scene being as scary when I was a kid, but damn. I just watched it feeling legit bad/sad.
Not to mention the pedophilic undertones of a kid yelling, "Wait! I wanna stop! Please!" Only to be told, "You'll stop when I want you to stop!" By a maniacally laughing older man.
So scary it reminds me of the predatory behaviour where adults will use kids to lure in other child victims
I almost wonder if that's the real underlying cautionary tale here
To me, watching this as a child. It wasn't "just" that Pinocchio was turned (back) into a puppet (in the most horrifying way ever). But what really freaked me out, was all those puppets faces. Knowing that they to had once been alive and that they to had been through the same terror and horror as Pinocchio. Only they weren't saved by a fairy. Call me a pussy all you want. But even now. At the age of 32 this scene still gives me the creeps. (And sorry for my bad English)
Honey, I am so 100% with you! It gives me creeps as well!
I completely understand how you feel. I'm 21 and this still creeps me out
I thought i was the only one who thought that
Nah fam it freaked me out too.
I watch this just to remind myself not to go to carnivals. So terrifying
It gives me the creeps that Twinkle doesn't have a mind of her own and yet it feels like there's something about her.
That's the thing. She does have a mind of her own but her body is an inanimate vessel she has no agency over.
she's forced to just corrode away spiritually with no voice to tell her experiences or fight against her expoliter or warn others. And of course she can't run away because her body is only able to do what her exploitator wants
this movie is EXTREMELY underrated
tell me about it the first time i watched this movie i think i was a teen at that time so i missed it out during my childhood
Yes.. I think its better than Disney's
@Undead Television which playlist
@Undead Television cool thanks
@@saltyshapeervessel2.062 Disney is awful lmfao, they never made a good animated film
Glad I’m not the only one who found this scene terrifying as a child and still very disturbing as an adult.
Even now I find it creepy and disturbing had this as a kid on video back then I was terrified of it looool
(meanwhile on the Muppet Show theater balcony)
Statler: Eh, I never liked that kid anyway.
Waldorf: Yeah, why's that?
Statler: His acting got too WOODEN!
Both: D'OH-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO!
Lmfao 😭 😂 💀
Waldorf: Not to mention that after turning to a real boy the kid still is a blockhead!
Nice!
This is basically how the devil ensnares people. The temptations are given, you take them and then he's got you.
As creepy as this scene is, its still very impressive. That sting in the music when the other puppets come into view is particularly heavy and the feeling of threat and fear is ever present. The animation is pretty good too. I don't know if kids today could handle this or even worse, I don't think parent would even be willing to show it to them!
The second part you got right but kids are allowed on the internet with out supervision have seen worse
The effects from being on the internet your whole life will be a major civilisation shift
Outside Disney movies, there were cartoons as frightening than this one. But let's be honest, you find this scene very scary because Pinocchio must be actually one of the scariest fairy tales ever created.
No argument there, I mean, the Disney version was no exception either.
It's pretty dark, Twinkle was a human an got enslaved as a puppet for who knows how long; and is being used to trick other children into getting enslaved.
All I could think of was Jon Benet. Tragic and no real voice of her own.
Just so you understand that twinkle was never real, nor was any of the other pockets if you remember, the emperor said to Pinocchio, what’s special about you is that you are the only puppet in the world that has ever become human Implying that none of the other puppets were ever human
Man this is damn horrific. Gotta say though for such a low budget, the animation isn't half bad. Also that's Steve Smith from American Dad! as Pinocchio
Okay, I have to confess, this was really disturbing for a kids movie. Sure, the animation is a bit sub-par and the acting is kind of wooden. But I have always found puppets sort of disturbing, and the way they're used here is very much like in a horror movie.
But what really makes this dark is the associations. An evil old man who lures a child into his wagon and forces him to do things... While this may have been creepy back in the day, today it's downright horrifying.
That's exactly what I was thinking when he started talking about making him a "star"... jesus christ.
And what's worse, if Twinkle's song is a real story then it's likely she ran off so she could do what she wanted and ended up seduced and turned into a puppet...
The association as you say is definitely what makes this horrifying. Puppetino (an older man) is basically torturing Pinnochio (a child) as he screams and pleads for help while Puppetino laughs maniacally at him, only to have him cry a single tear as he is completely made a slave to him. It's awesome that the Good Fairy saves him, but still.....
have you ever watched "Dead Silence" its a horror movie about a puppet and a haunted ghost that possess it
@@astrangerhere it is horrendous. A scene in which a grown man finds doing this to a boy, and watching whilst hepleads and begs for mercy, even cries, so funny. It's unfathomable that this is in a supposed childrens' film.
And Pinocchio’s struggling as he becomes immobilized is like he’s been roofied or something. Gross.
If you have asperger's like I do, this is a full blown sensory overload. I'm a lot more sensitive to everything than others. This scene plays out like a scene from a nightmare. When I saw this as a kid it was in class and I had an autistic reaction where I started covering my ears and started letting out high pitched squeaks and shrieks. The other kids laughed at me (hardly anyone knew about autism or asperger's in the 90s) and I had to be sent home.
So don't judge people as being "weak" for being scared of this scene. Remember that everyone sees things differently. And honestly, I still feel uneasy watching this scene.
I found this movie scary as a kid too. I usually left the room on this scene and I also found the emperor to be scary as hell too. I have Asperger's too. I enjoyed this movie a lot more in the middle and high school years.
cgsilverscreen2020 Another Aspie reporting in! I grew up in the 2000's so I was never exposed to this movie before. What really got me was the kid sayying his last word before going mute and then Twinkle's reaction. Those moments really got me.
cgsilverscreen2020 I have Aspergers, and when I was in kindergarten I would run from most movies we watched in class.
dude im aspergers but im acutally fearless i love this scene when i watched it younger
Same here noone understands
I think the scariest part was Twinkle was forced to watch unable to do anything.
I've been looking for this for almost 30 years! I never forgot that creepy song either lol
Alright... did anybody come here when this got recommended after watching Steve Reviews video talking about this movie?
ElectroBlastLuigi same
I came from a vid talking about the scariest scenes in kid’s movies
Actually, I search this up because I watched the musical hell’s review. She showed only five seconds of the scene, and I want to see more than five seconds.
I Can’t Believe This Used to Be My Favorite Movie When I Was a Kid After Rewatching This 💀
I'm just seeing this for the first time a few years ago, but to be fair I can imagine this actually being more disturbing to an adult than a child. To a child it's just scary, the imagery is unpleasant and the mood shifts are more rapid when you're not listening to the lyrics of the song or understanding them. When you're an adult you pick up on more of the nuances of the ominous nature of the entire scene. We are also more aware of child predators and it's inescapable to equate this villain with one
Blonde?
Pink dress?
Cute?
Anime eyes? (A plus)
Twinkle has the perfect requirements of a typical love interest character of the late 20th century.
Twinkle may be a puppet, but she has feelings for Pinocchio.
"Animal eyes"? Do you mind explaining that?
@@autumnasters Anime, as in classic japanese animated cartoon character, here the eyes specifically
Twinkle was a real girl converted in a marionette
If anyone wants to feel better, if you see the movie, Twinkle and the other puppets are rescued and Puppetino (the evil puppet master) is turned into a puppet as punishment and is set on fire
This scene freaked me out as a child!
And now yer being fucked, seems more darker than the film. Young innocent girl now a whr
2:37 PUPPETINO: Me brother, Stromboli, warned me this one would be difficult.
Ik it's been 2 years but underrated comment 😂 Pinocchio really gave his government info lmfao
this reminds me of rape. "no! stop! please! help!"
If you watch it with closed eyes it sounds like a pedophilic producer swindling an innocent young boy into rape so... yeah.
" you'll stop when I want you to stop". If you close your eyes while this scene is playing it's literally indistinguishable from this scenario
I saw this on 1998.... I am now 34 and now that I have a 4 year old son... This scene changed from creepy to utterly heartbreaking. I wanna cry now, that little boy had no mom to save him 😫 I know he started out as a puppet... But he had life for a moment and a sweet personality of an innocent child 💔😢
You're a good person, with heart. ;_;
Your 4 year old son: I didn't know we were watching a horror movie
when i was a kid that scene was my worst nightmare
This scene scared the crap out of me as a kid. 😰
Twinkle may be a puppet, but she has feelings for Pinocchio. And in the end of the movie, she has broken free of the evil, magic clutches of the Emperor of the Night and magically transforms into a real girl.
Crazy that James Earl Jones voiced the Emperor of the Night before Mufasa and Scott Grimes (from American Dad) voices the title character
What's the most sad is that the crowd love this guy... and he's evil. Makes you wonder how many people like this guy exist, and we love them...
Wow. Never thought this horrible childhood memory would come back to me
I was always scared of this scene when I was little. And also I felt very sad.
This was well before my time but, I always find it fascinating how remnants of the 1980s horror movie Renaissance made its way into in children's media and other seemingly unrelated products of the time. Even in the overall tone and the color palette of the animation tell that story
This was horrific but brilliantly done.
The moment I saw the design of the villain it made me realize. Courage the Cowardly Dog totally got inspiration from this in the Great Fusilli episode!
Except this is perhaps even more chilling! What year was this film made?
RK Love There's a Creepypasta Character called The Puppeteer.
Ryan Ozog That Episode of Courage is definitely the creepiest one because Muriel and Eustace get turned into Puppets but at least Courage doesn't.
1987 it was released.
@@katelynbodiford5680 the creepiest part is how at the end of the episode, they don’t get changed back. Instead it ends with Courage playing with Muriel and Eustace’s lifeless corpses. Even worse, is the theory that the entirety of Courage the Cowardly Dog is all inside his head, driven to insanity by his owners’ demise.
How the hell was this movie appropriate for kids back then? I’m 35 years old and this still creeps me out.
I remember watching this as a kid and not being creeped out by it. Idk what it is I couldn’t keep my eye off the screen when this scene showed up. 17 years later I realized this is pretty dark to show in a kids movie
i swear this scene haunted me for life. i remember i was at a department store one time and i was creeped out by the mannequins on display and i kept remembering this movie
Scary, huh? After I watched Courage the Cowardly Dog and the Fusilli episode, I think I'm kind of puppet-proof. But its still pretty creepy as for an old cartoon standard, I agree.

I think this is scarier than that. That scene it was over and done with quite quickly, this one Puppetino drags it out whilst Pinocchio begs.
But Fusilli scene was quite scary, yes.

AND this is the first 15 minutes of the movie!!!

Ironically, I was sort of expecting recent Disney musicals like Tangled and Frozen to have this kind of imagery prior to their theatrical premieres. I just don't understand it. Why can't Disney and other animation studios keeping making more cool creepy-ass scenes for their productions these days, whether they be hand-drawn, stop-motion, or CG?
Nicholas Segura They've lost the drive and imagination to create one that's why.
I'd say they've been anxious about going too dark since the results haven't been very profitable for them in recent past. Of course, movies like Pinnochio, Snow White and Bambi made it and today they are immortal classics. But Disney also has financial flops like The Black Cauldron and The Hunchback of Notre Dame to consider, who while not despicably bad movies, didn't find any big audience.
Also, I wouldn't undersell modern Disney too much; Pixar occasionally delivers distinctly dark moments, and while things hardly ever go into Pinnochio territory for the big D anymore, they do deliver more adult storylines.
U mean u didn't like the 3 scenes where Elsa kills Anna?
Gonk
No because they are stupidly cliché instead of good cliché
don't you see the comments above saying this game them anxiety? That they disliked it?
that's not scary it's more like devastating...

Uh oh Pinocchio has fallen in love and is being hypnotised by her beautiful eyes, voice and beauty. She hugs him and something bad is about to happen.
It's reminiscent of sex trafficking, or a rape. This was one of the more horrifying things I've seen.
From what I read that was the center of a controversy surrounding this scene. If you close your eyes and listen without visuals it sounds exactly like what you just mentioned.
I also wish I didn't know this but frankly, it captures so much of what it actually feels like to be molested.
You usually don't understand what's happening to you you just know you don't like it and you wish it would stop

This is reminiscent of Lampwick’s donkey transformation in the 1940 Disney film. Even down to the frantic pleading right before losing the ability to speak. Also, Pinocchio gets tricked by Puppetino like he was by the Coachman, then is nearly enslaved forever.
This clip encouraged me to watch the whole movie and I liked it. It's free with ads.
Kids movies these days don't have such good messages in them.
Remember watching this when I was 5: to be honest I was pretty used to dark stories and the like by then - thanks to all the old fairy tales I got to read compliments of my older sister, and the fact I always had a vivid imagination. So I didn't really find it creepy but knew there was a lesson there - thankfully as a five year old the film spelled it out cause I wouldn't have understood it, despite knowing there was something to be understood.
It very dark and course scare some kids but never scred me as kid as I seen this at age 4 but did give me gooshbumps and creepy feeling. I love dark cartoon movies like this what made me love for horror movies. Only cartoon villian really ever scared me as kid was witch maleficent in Walt Disney Sleeping Beauty

Umm...listen to the actual lyrics. It is a dark song about the consequences of chasing nothing but your own dreams and pleasures. It is just sung in a cute voice with uplifting beat. "No one to hold you now!"
