  • I made this video in November and kinda just forgot about it until a month ago but I had to fix it up because some of the clips I was using were deleted. I originally intended to release it once the new Pinocchio trailer dropped for Disney+ but it has been taking up storage, so I'm uploading it now.

Who came here after seeing Twisted Wonderland's Halloween 4 event? In addition to being the second event in the game based on the Pinocchio legend, Gideon and Foul Fellow (both a presence in Tokyo Disneyland) were our main antagonists and co-owners of Playful Land, a cross between real life Disney parks and Pleasure Island (Yes, the human trafficking part is still present, although the victims turn into puppets rather than donkeys.) The eleven main cast members, plus Grim and Yuu, cut school in order to attend, and when all was said and done, Gideon and Foul Fellow said they would go off and start their own school. They never had the money or connections to attend school themselves, getting by on street smarts and one scam after another, in typical "the fox and the cat" fashion.

All the opportunies in the universe to develop these two, and they reduced there screen time in the 2022 film. The way they react to pleasure island b4 the devil face expression of the coachmen shows they know about it. Did they go there? One is mute and smaller but he's also a cat, the other is a fox and is way more human-like in stance. One is also dressed to look like a con-artist (not intentionally but the audience gets it), his sidekicks clothes don't even fit. I'd rather watch a 44 minute special about these two than anything Disney keeps doing, even if it's like how they looked/acted in the newer film, provided it means a better story (and consistent animation or CGI/etc.). Cruella the puppy killer gets a "wicked rip off" but these two get sand.

In the books they get a very sad ending.
There, the gimmick is that the cat pretends to be blind and the fox pretends to have a limp - and yes, these are their names in the books, the cat and the fox.
At the end of the story Pinocchio meets them again, and they’ve fallen from grace: the Cat has truly turned blind after pretending to be for so long, and the Fox has fallen into such squalid misery he had to sell his lustrous tail as a fly sweeper.
Now begging at the side of the road, they implore Pinocchio to helm them, but he’s like “screw you, I’m not a fool anymore” and leaves them hanging.

I like to think that Honest John and Gideon use to be human. They've just been to Pleasure Island before.
The island dosen't just turn you into donkeys but the the animals you're acting the most like. Since the kids were being brats they became Jack-assess. John is a sly master manipulator so he is cursed into becoming a fox. Gideon becomes a pet house cat because he has a codependent personality type, is lazy, gluttonous and laied back.
They both escaped the island before the curse was completed but their appearance were forever altered and Gideon even lost his ability to speak. This is why they're terrified at the mere mention of Pleasure Island because they fear the curse themselves. Its also how they know the coachman. John might of been able to work out a deal with him to let them leave the Island before the curse took full effect. They just still have to meet with him every so often.

it's funny how in earlier draft of the movie they were gonna be arrested while attempting to trick pinocchio a 3rd time but it was cut just for pacing reasons. (esp since this was released a time where bad guys getting away w/ their deeds was some kinda media taboo) I honestly prefer it that way bc I think it would've been weird for these 2 to get arrested while nothing happens to stromboli and the coachman--either they should all get their comeuppance or none of them should and the movie chose none lol
