I originally intended to release it once the new Pinocchio trailer dropped for Disney+ but it has been taking up storage, so I'm uploading it now.

They act like a wooden boy walking around is surprising when they’re literal talking animals wearing clothes lol
*Mamma Mia! A wooden boy?!*
Probably the least surprising fact when it comes to Disney..
Well not actually because Gideon doesn't talk but he does wears clothes so, your technically right...
I'm not helping at all am I?
In this world it seems rather common there be anthropomorphic animals seeing how unfazed everyone is to these two and Jimminy.
@@cameronjim2983 Meanwhile, a wooden boy is WAAAAAAAAAY out of the ordinary.
I find it funny Honest Jon is perfectly okay with killing people but he has reservations about getting boys to pleasure island
Professionals have standards
If just the thought of it scares an entitled criminal something very terrible must happen in there.
😂😂😂 I’ve been saying that for years.
I think he's worried about setting foot there and possibly being "contaminated" by whatever curse is there. Lucky for him, he just has to get the boys to the ferry.
What a way to introduce a place and character. If the criminals are scared by the coachman's plan, it's probably bad.
Anyone else here because of the new Halloween event in the Japanese TWST server?

If you go back and watch the film, John never actually lied. He was truthful about Stromboli & Pleasure Island... He just left some details out.
Honest john really is Honest john...
Even in the 2022 version (I honestly don't recommend it) he doesn't actually lie to Pinocchio about anything. He just manipulates the truth to get what he wants
Well he's not named honest John for nothin
A lie of omission. Captain Picard of Trek Next Generation said a lie of omission is still a lie.
That was swept under the rug
I love how old films used the word gay as an expression of being happy but now it just has a whole other meaning..
The first time i heard gay in a movie in the homosexual way, i thought it was the happy version, as i only knew the french word gai (i am french).
I am 19.
If you were growing up in the 1930s and 1940s, of course.
yess
And i remember the word gay was like a boy acting like a girl
In fact, when I watched the film in English for the first time (English isn't my motherlanguage) I was really confused, like: did I hear correctly? 🤣🤣🤣
John: "Ah a little wooden boy heh how nice................𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞."
Giddy: “ What is it?”

The villains in Pinocchio are generally massive hate-sinks and often extremely scary....but I swear it's impossible to hate these two. XD
I know. 😊
Agreed
I can honestly say that J. Worthington Foulfellow (aka Honest John) and his bumbling partner and sidekick Gideon are easily the most entertaining villains from Disney’s Pinocchio.
True
Noticably none of them get any form of comeuppance.
Who came here after seeing Twisted Wonderland's Halloween 4 event? In addition to being the second event in the game based on the Pinocchio legend, Gideon and Foul Fellow (both a presence in Tokyo Disneyland) were our main antagonists and co-owners of Playful Land, a cross between real life Disney parks and Pleasure Island (Yes, the human trafficking part is still present, although the victims turn into puppets rather than donkeys.) The eleven main cast members, plus Grim and Yuu, cut school in order to attend, and when all was said and done, Gideon and Foul Fellow said they would go off and start their own school. They never had the money or connections to attend school themselves, getting by on street smarts and one scam after another, in typical "the fox and the cat" fashion.
Another twisted wonderland fan I see?

THIS COMMENT HAS ME GIGGLING
The actor they chose to play Honest John really went all in on his performance.
His name is Walter Catlett, a character actor from Hollywood's classic era. One of his most noteworthy live-action performances is in "A Tale of Two Cities" (1936), as John Barsad, another con artist. I like to think the Disney brain trust had this performance in mind when they chose him to voice Honest John.
@@kelleyceccato7025 and this wouldn't be the last time Disney hired him, as he later played another swindler in Davy Crockett and the River Pirates.
@@Thomas_H._Smith Cool! I've actually never seen that one.
For fans of Frank Capra, Catlett's the poet who takes Longfellow Deeds on a "back to nature" joyride in "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" (1936).
His name’s Catlett but he played the fox and not the cat, lol
It truly was an actor's life for him.
Notice how John's accent changes when he's trapped in his hat and pissed off. His cultivated lilt is just as much of an act as his propositions are.
“Pinoccio! P-I-N... P... I, erg, ough... We wastin' precious time~!” 😅
@sam rizzardi Yeah, that was hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@sam rizzardi What do you mean by that?
Funny when John gives Pinocchio his “ticket” to Pleasure Island, it’s really an ace of spades. Better known as the “death card”, it truly captures the irony in that action alone.
I always headcanoned him as being Nick Wild’s ancestor.
Or maybe they used him as a major source of inspiration.
maybe it's Brer Fox
So, are humans extinct in your headcanon?
The first fox to ever be demonized was Reynard, a heroic outlaw from the medieval epic “Reynard the fox.”

*I T S T H E L A W*
@@tiablue9106 That’s why that scene was contradictory
I mean, he sold Pinocchio to Stromboli for a small sack of coins, then was ready to murder someone on a whim, so it makes sense.
I think it's a matter of possibility of someone reporting to authorities. If Honest John is okay with murder, it means he's confident enough with his skills to leave no evidence or witnesses behind. But Pleasure Island is something that leaves people alive but cursed so there's no guarantee that someone would NOT snitch until the Coachman reassured him that there's no risk. Yikesssss
These two need their own spin-off they were easily my favorite characters in this movie.
That's what the remake should have been, seeing as the duo were far and away the best aspect of it.
You know, I have to agree. They should definitely have a prequel on how the funniest duo met each.

John is that type of villain that is just a really good business man! Sad he worked for someone for someone who was the real deal/villain, the plot would be very different if his boss was a good-hearted one.
But still, John does this so good: that socializing silliness, the voice acting and how he convinces as if it was someone else's idea, genius!

got this video right after twisted wonderland event coming out-
The fact that Honest John is so comfortable with Gideon touching him that he doesnt even react is honestly adorable, also how hes mildly annoyed at most when Gideon makes a goof meanwhile most villains would straight up beat their sidekick. Says alot about their relationship even though Im probably reading way too much into it LOL
EDIT: I'm just gonna say that I didnt point this out to say that they were a gay couple specifically, just that they had a close relationship. But I'm far from against that portrayal tbh 🏳️🌈

So true. One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest Disney soundtracks ever.
To be honest, I never really liked “Little Wooden Head”, but the four other ones which are undeniable highlights, I absolutely love.
That's because the song ultimately represents corruption in Pinocchio's story so It's used as a sorta leitmotif whenever he's coaxed into bad behavior (ex. Honest John & Gideon, Pleasure Island)
4:42 I'm curious if John and Gideon really are hitmen. Gideon doesn't go around carrying a giant mallet in his pocket for nothing.
Now why would someone carry a mallet with them?!?!
Gideon doesn’t even have pockets.
@King K. Rool That’s awful
I think they commit an array of crimes, including killing people. So yeah, they’re occasional hitman.

These two are actually hilarious. Love this movie. Never cared for it growing up but it's one of my all-time favorites now.
I wish Disney had made an animated movie about these two, rather than retconning this movie into live action. We could go into how they met and developed their partnership with each other.
i do like the idea that Honest John and Gideon were too afraid of the idea at first to help with anything related to Pleasure Island, but i guess the greed and worry of them being "living impaired" is a good driving force.
So in this case, attempted murder is okay but selling children into slavery is beyond red flag
3:15-3:25 Gideon was like, “Here kid, you take the blame. I’m out!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I barely watched this movie but the part with Honest John stood out to me the most. But now he seems rather humorously enjoyable.
For over twenty years I thought the cat was named Kitty.
All the opportunies in the universe to develop these two, and they reduced there screen time in the 2022 film. The way they react to pleasure island b4 the devil face expression of the coachmen shows they know about it. Did they go there? One is mute and smaller but he's also a cat, the other is a fox and is way more human-like in stance. One is also dressed to look like a con-artist (not intentionally but the audience gets it), his sidekicks clothes don't even fit. I'd rather watch a 44 minute special about these two than anything Disney keeps doing, even if it's like how they looked/acted in the newer film, provided it means a better story (and consistent animation or CGI/etc.). Cruella the puppy killer gets a "wicked rip off" but these two get sand.
In the books they get a very sad ending.
There, the gimmick is that the cat pretends to be blind and the fox pretends to have a limp - and yes, these are their names in the books, the cat and the fox.
At the end of the story Pinocchio meets them again, and they’ve fallen from grace: the Cat has truly turned blind after pretending to be for so long, and the Fox has fallen into such squalid misery he had to sell his lustrous tail as a fly sweeper.
Now begging at the side of the road, they implore Pinocchio to helm them, but he’s like “screw you, I’m not a fool anymore” and leaves them hanging.
Gidden and jonh are the swag in this movie
This sort of stuff was what made the OG Disney animated films and shows so great! 🤣

Fun fact, even though it was never stated in the film "Honest John's" name is J. Worthington FoulFellow.
nice to hear from the Disney Pinocchio fandom
I like to think that Honest John and Gideon use to be human. They've just been to Pleasure Island before.
The island dosen't just turn you into donkeys but the the animals you're acting the most like. Since the kids were being brats they became Jack-assess. John is a sly master manipulator so he is cursed into becoming a fox. Gideon becomes a pet house cat because he has a codependent personality type, is lazy, gluttonous and laied back.
They both escaped the island before the curse was completed but their appearance were forever altered and Gideon even lost his ability to speak. This is why they're terrified at the mere mention of Pleasure Island because they fear the curse themselves. Its also how they know the coachman. John might of been able to work out a deal with him to let them leave the Island before the curse took full effect. They just still have to meet with him every so often.
Do you really know that for sure?
Oh come on, Jiminy cricket is a talking cricket, how do you explain that?!?!
after I read this, I actually had a bit of a better theory for this: what if pleasure islands curse just decides to sometime switch the animals that people would become atleast once a month? and that it just decided on both cats and foxes when john and gideon were on, while it decided on donkeys when pinocchio was on it??
Awesome theory
Gideon: No witness!
Jiminy cricket: Psych!

In the live action there is a g+h on Gideon's hammer i just thought that was a nice thing to show to the class

I always wished that Disney would have shown them both ending up poor or learning their lesson not to take advantage at the end of the film, similar to how their book counterparts do.
it's funny how in earlier draft of the movie they were gonna be arrested while attempting to trick pinocchio a 3rd time but it was cut just for pacing reasons. (esp since this was released a time where bad guys getting away w/ their deeds was some kinda media taboo) I honestly prefer it that way bc I think it would've been weird for these 2 to get arrested while nothing happens to stromboli and the coachman--either they should all get their comeuppance or none of them should and the movie chose none lol
It does seem like the philosophy of the movie is that evil is not something you need to fight but instead is just something out there that you should be responsible enough to avoid.
Honest john is meeting the grim ripper at midnight and is fine with murder, but this place literally turns those being lazy or bad turns you into a donkey forever, and in his mind he understood its not death this coachman deals in. But in literal flesh. He sells children into slavery and enjoys the hell out of it. John has little to no morals, but this evil terrifies him and he is afraid to even double cross him. He literally adresses the coachman as sir after he understands that. Pure terror.
