Nobody has been able to explain this to me in such a simple and yet hilarious way! Thank you again for another fantastic video, Rickie. “I earned my name on the streets” 😂

Melody Notmylastname. Thanks! Now it's up to you to practice using these so that it becomes 2nd nature! Feel free to share if you think it could help others 😊 God Bless
Demilo hermano I’m at a point where I can barely hold normal conversations because regular sentence filling words escape me all the time. Your videos are super helpful, and go through things slowly. Muchas gracias
As someone who graduated from the U of M in Spanish foreign languages, I still struggled with por and para until this very night. Things have become more clearly now.
seriuously mate I was browsing on youtube and saw you I was like " yeah those videos to learn spanish again" but weirdly I clicked and I love the way you do it and new subbie here ... I'm reaallyyy going to make some efforts now to improve my spanish . thanks for all you do and wish you the best

Nice work, Rickie. I have been studying this somewhat confusing por/para thing and this is a great help. Great channel, man. Keep it up!

Paul Doyle thank you. There is still more to teach in regards to these two, but hopefully this gave you a better idea of when to use these. Study hard! 👍😀
Hey, I looked up number 3 @ 1:29! And it seems that using "about to" is actually for POR. I tried translating sentences like "estoy para mi tarea" and even the example: "estamos para salir" and they both translated as "for" instead of about to in English. However, when I typed in por, then it was translated "about to." So, you might wanna check that out. It could be because of location. Maybe certain regions use para in this case? Anyway, your videos are so helpful. You are really good at making things understandable. Thanks again for another video!

You bring up a good point. It can somewhat be regional. Estar para Is what I prefer to use but some Colombians (and other people) may prefer the opposite. For me estar por Is more like to be in the mood for, but for others estate para Is to be in the mood for. Spanish had so many varieties. Thanks for watching!
Muchas gracias por tu video! It was really well thought out and done. I enjoyed it so much that I watched it two times in a row! Your choice of Quiz questions were very helpful, too.

De verdad, esa fue bien hecho!!! Lo gustaba mucho. A veces pa'mi es difícil saber cuando uso una o la otra. Una sugestión: Puedes hacer una disputa entre ser vs estar??

Gracias! I was deciding on whether to do that next or el imperfecto vs preterito. Ya que tú me lo has pedido, hablaré de eso en el siguiente episodio.

And a few corrections with your writing if you don't mind.. In this case, since you are talking about "el video" you would say, "eso fue bien." because it's masculine. Also, you would never say "lo gustaba" that is a literal translation from English. The sentence structure for verbs like Gustar should be - to me, it was pleasing. In Spanish it would be "A mí me gustó." I know it may not make since, but that is how it is haha.
This was extremely helpful also wow really well done video... All the key points with examples and explanations also with a little comedy :) #THISvsTHAT
I guess this comes naturally to a native speaker? And does a non native speaker sound stupid if we use por instead of para or vice versa? Btw mil gracias por tu ayuda.
Moore Jeff yep. I didint have enough room to go through all of the expressions so I chose less obvious ones. I think I'll do a video dedicated to just the expressions though.
This was CUTE & FUNNY! Gracias POR la explicación maestro!
Thanks Chloe! I had fun making it. Espero que hayas tomado apuntes para poder estudiar las reglas! : )
Love the creativity and effort that you put into your videos! They are so helpful!
Thanks! My goal is to keep people's attention while they learn. I hate lectures and find them inadequate.

I like how u did that at the end bcuz i used to do the same. Sometimes i still do depending on what i need to express. Good video 👍
Did what at the end?
And thanks for checking the video out! : )
Rickie Walls at 15:11 when u started using Por o Para? to yourself as exapmles.
Rickie Walls Thanx to u too for uploading.
OOH lol I just saw it
This is really good quality, very helpful, y very entertaining! Haha keep them coming! ✊
Thanks. I wasn't sure how it would be received, because it's an unorthodox way of teaching it. I'm glad to see that people are finding it helpful.
A general Rule of thumb:
"Por" is used for the reason something is done or happens.
"Para" is used for the goal or objective something is done.
Como tu ta broo...buen video mi mano, no se si ya has subido un video sobre la diferencia entre pretérito y imperfecto, si no...hazlo pronto...tu forma de de enseñar es Inigualable mijo. Tas hecho pa esto

Good video, I didn't know por is used with the passive voice until now.
Yep. there is another way to talk about passive things, but this is usually taught first.
This was extremely helpful also wow really well done video...
All the key points with examples and explanations also with a little comedy :)
#THISvsTHAT
estoy de acuerdo
Glad I could help. I was surprised to find out how many people were never taught about this.
Thanks Lewis! You seem to have a good memory when it comes to Spanish so go ahead and learn these and you'll be even better off! God bless!
Rickie Walls we was taught but never in the detail and with the explanations you give us
Rickie Walls i surprised myself but now I can study these and come up with my own examples etc.. so thank u very much
This was very helpful
Gracias! I nee to make more "This vs That" videos..
Rickie Walls yes.
thanks for this!
Thanks to you for watching!
can you do a video about ese esta eso esa esto? and all of that? i always get confused when i speak spanish and i like the way you explain things!
You got it! : ) Thanks for the suggestion!
Ah tú edición es fantástica! Me gusta el comienzo! Fue cómico! 😂 también cómo explicaste el uso de por y para fue utilísimo!
Gracias! He pasado los último 4 días trabajando en este video jaja. Me alegra ver que a todo el mundo le gusta.
Totalmente. Pa' en el lenguaje hablado o de pueblo es mucho más común.
I would have never known "finger lickin' good".
Yes it is a bit different from the English versión huh.
I guess this comes naturally to a native speaker? And does a non native speaker sound stupid if we use por instead of para or vice versa? Btw mil gracias por tu ayuda.
This is my other account u have 2000 subscribers!!
Haha porque tienes 2 canales? Y Sí! somos 2000!
Algo que veo es que "para" indica la meta o el objetivo. "Por" se refiere a la razón o el motivo.
❤
Por ejemplo
Moore Jeff yep. I didint have enough room to go through all of the expressions so I chose less obvious ones. I think I'll do a video dedicated to just the expressions though.
Yo tengo las llaves ;)
Seguro que no eres Dominicano?
Segurísimo. ¿Por qué preguntas?
Rickie Walls porque cuando hablas en español suenas a que comes mangu todos los dias!
Jaja lo como de vez en cuando. Es difícil encontrar plátanos por aquí, pero cuando los encuentro... jaja
Quisas en otra vida? Jajaja.
Along: think of a line
Around: think of a circle
Through: think of a line going in and out of something
English: for, on behalf of, by, during, per, times, through, around, along, in favor of, because of
Spanish: por
¿Puedes explicar la diferencia entre 'a' y 'para'?
En realidad decimos más "por salir" que "para salir" cuando se trata de "I'm about to go out"
Para is better because it sounds better
