Lol Acting in movies was never on my list of things to do, but gracias!!! Glad you liked the video!
Oh man I am learning "Spain-Spanish" and I had no idea certain words can be "dirty" in other variants of the language. So after watching this I messaged my Mexican friend "coger un bizcocho" and she just burst out laughing. Guess that confirms that xD Thanks for the informative videos bro. I am going to browse your channel to find some more!
Hearing is my problem. Once I break that wall. My Spanish will become so much better.

I have trouble with this sometimes too depending on where the person is from. The thing is the only way to get better is to listen over and over again, so I guess you have a lot of podcasts, interviews, shows, and movies to watch and hear! You got this!!! XD
This was good on so many levels. The creativity and thought that went into the skits were impressive. You're talented!

I appreciate your kind words! It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it. I wanted the bathroom thing to go on longer and to be a little different, but I decided to cut it for timing purposes I figured you guys would get the gist of it.
Never knew how different spanish is in a bunch of cultures. In fact when you said "mano" I thought you meant hand so i was like huh? Then i learned its just an abbreviation of "hermano"
I love Spanish accents and my favorite is the Dominican accent but it's so weird compared to the Spanish I'm learning from an app. Hearing people use different words from their countries confuse me often. Your videos help a lot.
Thank you for putting up these videos. I live in the UK and have family and friends living in Spain. I used to be at a level of "almost" native fluency (as close as a non native can be) about 20 years ago. Unfortunately I'm now very out of practice. My Aunt in Spain is originally from Peru so I'm lucky in that I can practice and pick up on other ways to say things from South America as well as Spain. I'm finding it hard to keep up the practice constantly. I have to do it though. In the next 5-8 years I hope to be living permanently in Spain (Calpe, Alicante). I've waited my whole life to do it. I'm 44 now so hopefully when I'm around 50 I'll be able to go "home" and just visit the UK. Thanks again for all your videos. Easy to understand, not too long and enjoyable too xx

Wow that's so awesome! and thank you for watching!!! I have a dream of living in a Spanish speaking country too. I have to wait til i'm about your age unless I decide to re-marry my ex wife lol. Can I as you why you would like to know how long it took me to become fluent? I say this because a lot of people ask me this, when at the end of the day it has nothing to do with how long it takes them to learn the language. It's all about how much effort you put into it. To answer your question though, it took me around 2.5 years. You don't necessarily need to speak to a Spanish speaker all of the time. If you've been following my channel, you'll see that a lot of my ways are unorthodox. I recommend talking to yourself out loud to better your Spanish. I know it sounds weird but it helps you to sharpen skills and it's always great to come across something that you didn't know how to say, so that you can learn it. I did that and still do, I read books to find random new words, Watch shows, Listen to podcasts from different places about different things, and keep doing your post-its. If you plan on moving to Spain, start acting like you live there now and limiting your English to the bare minimum and you'll see great changes. Don't forget to review the fundamentals and keep studying vocab. If there is a will, there is a way.
Thanks Rickie. The reason I asked about how long it took you to learn Spanish was purely curiosity. Partly, also because it's clear from your videos that you have an in depth knowledge of how the language works and your explanation of things is always very comprehensive. In my experience, many L2 S panish speakers and teachers cannot explain things properly or in a way that is easy to understand. You do. When I ask people (which doesn't happen often tbh) how long they took to learn Spanish they usually tell me somewhere between 18 months and 5 years. Those that take longer can read and write Spanish perfectly but here in the UK particularly, if you embark upon a language course, there is very little speaking/conversation/ listening done. So people become proficient in writing things down, not in holding even basic conversations. I also find it a little strange that many people stick to one learning method when it doesn't really work for them. I do talk to myself in Spanish, in the bath, at home, when out shopping, in the street. You should see the funny looks I get! 🤣😂 I watch UA-cam videos in Spanish, listen to music in Spanish and although it costs a lot, I have Spanish TV at home. I also practice with my 13 year old Son who is learning Spanish at school. Anyway, I hope I answered your question fully xx

Ah ok ahora entiendo jaja. I'm so used to people asking because they magically think they my time will affect their jaja. Here in the US it's worse. People take courses andnot only can they not speak, they can't even write! it's the worst! Keep up the hard work, amiga! : )
This video was helpful. I'm learning Spanish. I speak primarily Mexican Spanish, but lately I"ve been learning European Spanish as well. Thank you for validating my choice. My best friend speaks El Salvadorean Spanish.
*for me, I'm starting to recognize 50-60% of what they're saying, but native speakers also speak incredibly fast. So my Duolingo lessons aren't cutting it, I need to not only hear, but understand more and be able to respond too*
Lol that's what it's like for a lot of people. Were you ever like that in the beginning. I was never that bad, but I have used the "sí" before when I've been in situations where I can't hear the person very well lol
Great topic! And that bathroom skit was amazing. The locked out dude is how I feel I sound like trying to speak Spanish. It is weird now though, because I think I am picking up more of the PR and DR pronunciations of words, and I wonder if people will think I am trying too hard, if that makes sense. I know Duolingo hates me for dropping the "s" off of words now, haha.

Let me tell you that I did that accent to show you that you could still be correct at Spanish and have an accent. I wasn't necessarily making fun of it, but just using it to show that that character wasn't native to Spanish, but if you pay close attention you could se that he was communicating just fine with the Spanish speakers. They could understand him, he just couldn't understand them. So if you sound like him, that is not a bad thing, however, if you wanna lose the accent, then just keep practicing. Does duolingo accept your answers? I know what you mean with the trying too hard thing. I've never felt it, but as a Spanish speaker, I have thought that others have tried too hard before lmbo, but 1. What does it matter? and 2. It was because they were just doing extra stuff for no reason lol. If you just imitate exactly what you hear, you'll be fine.
Rickie this was perfect and so true. I am still working on my spanish, but have had to use it to talk to people from many south american spanish speaking countries lately and their accents threw me off for sure. Learning other dialects is essential .Thanks for sharing this awesome video. Great acting btw. 😀

Yes, I knew that if it happened to me, others could relate too, so I had to put it out there. I still get lost sometimes when talking to Cubans. Some of them just talk so mumbly, but I'm getting better since I literally see them every time I fly.
My man you got my respect because your Spanish is on point... You speak Caribbean Spanish with a great flow, it would be the same thing like the English spoken in some islands, like Jamaica, st Lucia and so on... It's another rythim and pronunciation but we can understand each other. My advice to all the Spanish lovers or any another language, isn't to get married with only one accent...I mean if you are learning Spanish try to listen the different accents spoken in every country, in this way your gonna take your listening to another level... Plus: Spanish language has some haters like everything in life, but we have to keeping in mind that is a growing language speaking in south America, Europe, Africa, Philippines; and China is promoting this language in the schools, so is better to take the boat right now... Stay safe ...
It's very important to say that despite a few differences in words and accents, we (Spanish-speakers) can understand each other well.I am from Mexico and have no issues understanding Cubans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, etc.Differences are normal, since Spanish is a widespread language and it's spoken in 21 countries.
