Phenomenal job on the whole series. There's a great history to electronic drums and still much more to tell in the coming years. The future is unwritten and there's many more chapters ahead.
This Time in E-Drums was the most important, not just because it's the current times, but because of the technology. I will need to listen to this video many times over, and memorize this information. Thanks to the owner of this channel.
This was such an amazing series! Thank you for all of the grueling extensive research, and easy to listen to commentary. I think anyone that is interested in how E drums have developed over time needs to see this! This series was so well put together, and fun!
Just ordered the Roland TD-17KVX and CAN'T WAIT for it to get here. I own the td-09 and love it so... I'm guessing I'll be more than happy with my purchase 🙂
I have now finished watching the six videos. I have no words to describe this series of videos that you have made. Perfect, probably the most complete yet. Continue with your excellent work. We drummers thank you!
Sensational series. Although a bit self indulgent maybe should of been a section noting when the channel 65 drums started and how valuable this channel has been to the edrum community!
Welll, this whole series kind of makes you the authority on edrum history now :) I think you should make one more episode about the future of edrumming as you see it after all that research you made... I`de like to see that :)
Hey justin. Want to say thank you for posting Roland drum videos. My wife knew i love roland andchecked out your videos and bought me a kvx 17 for Christmas. I had an old pd7 back in 95 , but traded in for a 1981 export floating Tom acoustic kit. Everyone told me the crowd does not like electronic drums. Now I have a hybrid kit..thank you
Wow, six months in the making... yeah, I just finished gliding through this entire series and thought you deserve at least one more comment and like. ;) don't worry, I didn't touch your video with 666 likes hehe. Cheers and thanks for this comprehensive overview.
Watched the whole video with excitement to hear about the Alesis Surge kit and just got a brief mention 😂 Still loved the video, very informative and well produced. Great work!
Yo Justin I just have to say man this series was fantastic and I genuinely loved watching it. Watched all 6 in a row and probably going to re watch in the near future. Thanks for all you do for the drum community!
I rarely comment on videos but this warrants one. You did a great job. This is well researched, concise and very informative. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the percussion community.
Still got a TD20K. Still up to date, still a killer kit. Hi-Hat, 3 "crashes" one ride and additional pads. 4 toms, Snare, B-Drum. I'll never go back to acoustics after this experience. Got 50 kits on the same Drum! Can play at three in the morning. What else? 😂 And i love the face the sound engineer does when you give him a left and right jacks and you say: Don't worry, just manage the volume...😅 Priceless! No more sound check for the Drums! 🖖🏻🇫🇷😎🇫🇷😎🇫🇷🖖🏻
HI had a Millenium MPS 400 ekit. It came with rubber heads, I soon converted them to mesh heads. Then later on added a Real Drum snare pad, Roland hi hat cymbal, an foot pedal then finally changed the module to a Roland TD8. Worked for me an sounds great!
Dude I think you did an awesome job on this series , I love to watch the history of certain things and this was one that I'm glad I watched. Cool series of videos , thank you for the hard work. 👍👍👍✌✌✌
I have so many 12 and 10-inch Alesis pads, most are MKII pro pads, but the 2010 real heads when turned to mesh..are the best triggers ever made, the fact there are so many out there still is amazing..
Thomann also has its own acoustic cymbals brand named Zultan. These are high quality cymbals made of b20 alloy produced exclusively for Thomann by a company called Turkish. Very affordable cymbals that in terms of quality don't lag behind the hi-end series of Zildjian, Sabian, Paiste, Meinl. P.S. Great video, I hope you will be more active on UA-cam
I don't play drums. I play guitar badly :D I've been thinking for a while about learning as I've always loved the instrument. Reality got me thinking practice pads until I realised I could get a cheap electronic kit for similar money. I've been watching your videos and checking the ads. I would like to suggest you do something similar to this but covering say the evolution of a brands offerings in a price range, or maybe some vids of models that have common problems. I know you've done some of this. You've done beginner buyers guides etc, but it's tricky to pin down kits to avoid in the lower price brackets. I am in Australia so a lot of stuff isn't available and our prices are different here. Thank you very much for the clear and informative videos. 😁
This series was a great watch, certainly learnt a lot. Seems like now is the best time to get into edrums as there is so much choice. I was really on the fence about A2E for a while but looking at the choices in 2019, I made up my mind in a space of a few days and bought a 7Pc Tama Superstar Classic as it was incredibly cheap, looked awesome and was the best candidate for a A2E during the planing stage. Completed in early 2020 due to global issues but this is my dream ekit with pretty much zero compromises. I run a TD50/TD27 with the Upgrade pack, ATV cymbals, RDrums triggers, Drum-Tec Real Feel's and Tama HW. I also have a Mimic Pro but I love the SD3 SDX's too much to not to that. Your videos have definitely been a lot of help with this project. Now I just need to get my hands on the Roland 14"/16" thin cymbals...they are just unobtainable!
Loved the series! Awesome work Justin! I had the DM10 Studio kit that I played for 5 years and now I use the DM10 module on my A2E kit...until next year!!
this was my favorite period from your series! Man this was a total passion project i can tell and it was fantastic. Im surprised that you didnt get into the cymbals and drums that are being made by Field other than a few mentions i saw. IMO they are making some of the best stuff out there in the full sized segment. I fully realize that you cannot possibly cover EVERYTHING!!! Man this was insane
a great series...enjoyed it....there was a lot of information to get through, and sometimes it was hard to keep up with the narrative, but well done...🤠🍁👍
Great series - a couple of things to add: Terry Bozzio's self designed and patented electronic kit c. 1983 (see Modern Drummer Dec. 1984), the great Turkish Drummer Okay Temiz's self made electronic Magic Pyramid, the xylo synth, and the e-pan electronic steel pan.
Thanks for the extra information! I believe I covered the xylosynth in a previous episode because it came out in 2004. But I was not aware of the e-pan, and several other things mentioned when making this video. Can you send me a link to the Magic Pyramid? I'm having trouble finding good information on it.
Great series Justin I enjoyed the whole series and it brought back some great memories. I found the series informative, interesting, and entertaining. Well done.
i feel like adding a simple text at a bottom corner of which kit youre talking about would help a lot for new e-drummers like me, other than that, amazing stuff. thanks :D
Well I made this video years ago, so I can't really add text to it, UA-cam took away "annotations" as a feature. But maybe if I ever remake it down the line that would be a nice addition :)
These series was amazing, Justin!!! Congrats! Great info, great feedback, etc. BTW, have you ever played the Millenium 850 you talked about? Just wondering if you have any thought on that one in particular?
This was excellent !!! I've been trying to find a good window to watch this for a very long time, so I could get through the entire thing in one sitting. Wow !!!!! What an amazing history... And a bit confusing history too. Confusing in the sense that there was some really great electronic drum sets and technology decades ago, yet newer edrums have a lot of problems and machine gunning or things that don't trigger right, or bad sounds. It's pretty interesting how some companies like Roland have held back a lot of ingenuity because they came up with mesh heads first and it put a lot of people out of business or stopped ideas from happening. I have the Td27 with the digital snare, and I think that's really amazing, but I guess of course the company that has the best gear on the market is the one who held everyone back. I don't know if I can down grade though, and I don't think anything is even close to it that works that well. Hopefully other companies give some competition now that they can't get sued. Good thing for copyright limits...lol Anyways.... Thanks for making such a great video !!!!!! Well worth the time !!!!! 😁👍
Nicely done man! Can’t believe I’ve been following your channel for 5 years now. You have helped inform manny of my edrum purchases at this point. Two kits, (Td-50k & 17kvx) and i don’t even know how many pads and accessories. Thanks for your contributions to the community. Your videos are always interesting, informative and well done.

sorry haha! :D
RIP JMan ... as you said , more than everything , he was a great person ...

Wow never thought I'd watch the full video, but it's so well made and interesting that I just couldn't stop watching!!
Hello, great job - thank you!
Great work Justin. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this. Also, RIP to j-man and Ikutaro Kakehashi - both of you will be missed 🙏
I've watched every episode so far, thank you so much brotha!
Yo Justin I just have to say man this series was fantastic and I genuinely loved watching it. Watched all 6 in a row and probably going to re watch in the near future. Thanks for all you do for the drum community!
Thanks Josh!

Very precious information, thanks 😊
Watch on your tv for comfort! Great work!!
What a fantastic series. Excellent job.
Thanks Mark!
Woah, bumper episode! Amazing job dude, so much in here I didn't have a clue about. Well done!
Thanks dude!
I was getting worried about you, Justin! Glad you're still with us!
An hour and 12 minutes???? Oh yeah!
For the people crazy enough to watch the whole thing :D
Wow, what a huge piece of work, man!!! I watched it all with like 5 long breaks. Very interresting!!!
Still got a TD20K. Still up to date, still a killer kit. Hi-Hat, 3 "crashes" one ride and additional pads.

Great series very informative. Btw Kai Hahto @ 43:04 :)
Amazing video! It took me 3 days to watch it. Woderfull work and research. ❤

29:23 that drum module is the same as on my Medeli made kit, the first e-kit I owned.
Dude I think you did an awesome job on this series , I love to watch the history of certain things and this was one that I'm glad I watched. Cool series of videos , thank you for the hard work.
👍👍👍✌✌✌
geez this was an amazing video. Thank you to 65 drums for all this

I have watched all these episodes quite a few times, so enjoyable!!!
Incredible documentary you are an amazing person
I still you two Pearl E-Pro live kits in our music school. Both sets are working fine. Although I've replaced the e-symbals with silent ones.

Thank you, enjoyed the entire series! Great job
Amazing contribution to the drum community. You are a legend!
Came here to catch up with all the choices one has, if were to buy a new e-drum kit. Got just that! So good job man. :)
AMAZING PRESENTATION ! HOPE YOU WIN A GRAMMY OR SOMETHIN !!!
I watched the entire series...so much information...you worked your ass off..THANK YOU!!

Maaaan you had a very productive pandemic time! Thank you so much for your work!
Thanks again for another informative video, Justin. This time it’s the era where I actually got my first e kit! 👍🏼🙂
You are awesome bro. Excellent job!
Wow. I'm not even into electronic drums that much, but that was great! Thank you!
Good Work, very usefull to know more about EDrums.
Cracking doc hugely professional. I remember buying and using those huggers in the early 90’s!
Just wanted to say thanks for this series. Was a great watch.
thanks dude!
Well researched, edited and produced video. Well done sir.
Nice job on the history I really enjoyed the series, I never knew there was so much.
this could be perfectly a documentary, excelent work!!

Very done mate! Very comprehensive and thoroughly enjoyable. Great job.
Great vid as usual Justin!
Also eDrum midi is from Brazil, and I must say, it's a pretty solid company. I really like their product. Very affordable and works perfectly
Great series Justin I enjoyed the whole series and it brought back some great memories. I found the series informative, interesting, and entertaining. Well done.

Great video!
I got a millennium 850 and I got to say for the price it’s a great kit especially seeing as you get a extra Tom and crash cymbal
57:35 I don't have the talent nor the foot speed yet but can someone please tell me where I can learn this beat. Please
Well done sir! Enjoyed each installment. Very thoroughly researched.
