- Drummers all have their own style, and it can really change the way a song sounds and feels. Today on the Drum Dept, we challenge Dylan, Brandon, and Dave to play the same song - they will hear it once, and play it, and they won’t get to hear what each other played- let’s see who comes up with the best part!

I liked Dylan's interpretation the most for his power and tastefulness that captures the track's spirit, but adds some more dynamic fills.
Dylan was the one where it felt like the Drums compliments the music track they played. Clean and subtle. I like his version way more than others.
Dylan understood the spirit of the composition, in my opinion. They were all awesome!
I thought that Dave's performance was best. I liked his interpretation from 24:48 onward was more on point than the others. Loved Brandon's interpretation as well, very dynamic and full of feels. Great set, all!!!

I love Dave's Power fills and the expression on Dave's face when he first started getting his sea legs😜 , Dylon had killer stick work , Brandon great feel all great drummers
For me, the second drummer struck the best balance between serving the song (being symbiotic with and being enhancing to the music) and showcasing himself. The choices he made made me want to listen to the music/piece more than I felt with the other two.

Dylan had amazing feel and his ghost note volume was perfect for this track also had a vary consistent sounds all around the kit

To me the best and most interesting performance was dave's(tasty gloves and fills, I really dug it 😎👌)Brandon was solid and I loved the cymbal smash accent and the double time power 😊👍 Dylan was more a straight shot and professional(like a session drummer playing a low key track so not too much)all of you did great in a different way and I love when you do this, showing different views and play styles of the same song 👏
So much fun! I loved this, guys. Everyone did a fantastic job.
What's so refreshing about this is the raw human performance they all gave. Honest and leaving it all on the table. Some small glitches and scrapes but all part of the first time round play through and illustrative the real everyday drummer experience. I loved it all from all three guys. The moments of slight grit and dirt is what I enjoyed most as iit should the honesty and conviction of each player as they tried to perfectly execute their initial ideas for the piece after only one listen through. Human yet professional at the same time. I hope this is a reoccurring bit for this channel and it's contributors. Too often we see the perfect performance and never the behind the scenes work that lead up to that final perfect take. insightful and shows off the drumeo talent in a great light! I loved this video! More episodes of this theme please

I want to see so many more of these! It's awesome seeing the Drumeo guys tear it up on the kit!! And as impressive and badass as Dave and Brandon's were, I think I liked Dylan's the best. He still did some really cool, technically impressive stuff, but it fit within the song the best of the three instead of covering it up

Second one guy was the best to me. If I was there, will let more space for music, create a tribal pattern just on toms and bass drum, a few touches on cymbals and NO snare, 'cause the original already has the clap sharp sound on 2nd and 4th tempos. .

1st held the form consistently, didn't have too much variety and caught the ending

All 3 great. For me, 1st guy Brandon started out too full on though and didn't take it down anywhere. 2nd dude, Dylan had the best performance imho, musical, changed it up, smooth grooves on point. Gave the piece space to breathe. That flam stop💪3rd geezer, Dave had a better 1st half of the song. Too many fills flying by overall. Fill at 25.00 was super, watched that just a few times:)

1. Dylan. Dylan’s take was the coolest. His fills were most exciting, he started with a tight hihat, ghost notey groove before opening it up and going to ride and his dynamics and feel were by far the best.
2. Brandon. He played pretty busy and not tasteful or good busy imo, but I did like that he went into a double time groove. HOWEVER I think the double time groove would’ve been way cooler with the snares on 1 and 3.
3. David. Nothing in his performance surprised me or really caught me off guard. I thought he played pretty cymbal heavy with a lot of ride and it made the dynamics feel one dimensional.
Dylan is my pick. No question. 🤷♂️

I personally liked Dylan's playthrough the most, but they were all so good.
I was actually thinking of that little ride groove when I heard the track, but it's definitely a little busy sounding. All sounded good to me🤟🏻
My money is on Brandon. He's learned and internalized so many Grooves, styles, and genres. He just will have a bigger tool box to create with.

Dylan arguably has the best technique but Brandon plays with so much nuance. Creates this rolling sense of momentum in the song that ebbs and flows while staying regular.

Dave’s was most appropriate and I thought it sounded the best. I think he would’ve been hired as the studio musician to play it.

Brandon has quietly become one of my favorite drummers/educators. I think he could hold down the drum chair in most an big band touring right now. Dave and the Foo's? Give Brandon a call. New Rush tour? Brandon's got you. Brian Blade needs a vacation? Fellowship band rings up B-dog... I haven't heard any reggae tunes though. Perhaps that's his weakness. lol

All 3 guys were fantastic! It was amazing that they all listened to the song just once, and then they all came out with an amazing drum performance that fit the whole format! I favored the last guy playing more than the other first 2, but doesn't mean I liked them any less. I hope there's more of these drum offs in the future as I really liked this a lot. Kudos to getting to watch all 3 bad@$$ drummers. Thanks. 👍😎 - ( it's sad that I just got to watch this 10 months after it was posted though ☹️)

I love Dave and Jared so much, they made my day so many times, with his instructional videos when I started learning drumming.
Brandon's style was very buzzy, and did not contribute to the music.
Dylan, is my favorite, because he made the song work best, and also crated a good feeling where I genuinely felt "oooo the music stopped !"
Dave was also close, but his implementation lacked the tension that Dylan put in.
Enjoyed all 3. I vote Dylan. He let the song breathe. Very tasteful.
Dylan by a wide margin. All excellent, but Dylan had more overall shape, tone, groove, more breathing space, was more connected to the details of the song. Yeah, he missed the last note -- but what a finish he was going for!
By the way, "soup to nuts" is a fine dining metaphor. Solution X covers all "courses" from the soup to the post-desert nuts (and cheese?).

Brandon was the best. The other two followed the song instead of playing the song. It was like they were slightly behind the song through most of it.
