- The Alpha Legion is the most mysterious and secretive of all the Legiones Astartes. But what do the fractured Alpha Legion warbands of the 42nd Millennium have in common with their Horus Heresy era counterparts?
In this video I take a deep dive into the Alpha Legion, some of its warbands, and members, and take a look at what it is they want, and ask just who it is they are loyal to.
Games Workshop hasn't given us much to go on as far as the XXth legion goes, that is until recent years. And I use the Horus Heresy novel Legion, and the Warhammer 40K novels Renegades: Harrowmaster and Shroud of Night as reference as I look at just what it is the Alpha Legion does in the current setting of Warhammer 40K, and deep dive on the Unsung warband of Kassar. A group of Alpha Legionnaires from the Horus Heresy era who literally redefined heroism and bravery...as well as just straight up balls.
So get ready for a hard look at the most secretive space marines Games Workshop has ever given us. And if the Alpha Legion isn't your favorite legion after this video, I may just have to call down an Exterminatus! Lol.

I promised this video a while back, and just didn't want to put it out until I was done reading Shroud of Night. Sorry it took so long, but it's probably for the best as I covered that book a lot in this video and some of the...no, THE dopest moment in Warhammer 40K happens in this book.

If one of the Twins is actually still alive in the 41st millennium, the Bequin storyline certainly would warrant his personal attention. If you haven't been spoiled to the probable identity of the King in Yellow I won't do it here. Suffice to say that if he is who he is said to be at the end of the 2nd novel, it certainly would warrant Alpharius or Omegijs personal intervention.
Also Eisenhorn is probably one of the most powerful Inquisitors in the lore.
PS if the identity of the King in Yellow turns out to be true, he is a Primarch level threat.

You know I always thought there would be a third alpha legion Primarch. Due to their symbols having the three-headed Hydra on it, but what are you guys think?
I think that makes sense. Or maybe it’s another prophecy that another will rise
2nd and 11th and Alpharius ;)

The Unsung didn't join Solomon. They literally said he can eat the business end of a boltgun.
And I agree. He is nothing more than a tainted arrogant thinblood.
Indeed they did not join, but they did make the biggest splash at the meeting…despite not being there.
Then again it wouldn’t be very Alpha Legion of Kassar to not have an agent there. It seems to me just because the Unsung were mentioned meant they were there. At least an informant.
The unsung are so much better in my opinion than Solomon’s warband. I’d like his and his warband more if they were loyal to no one but themselves maybe but they swing to close to the side of chaos for my liking. But I prefer the legion to be loyalist as well
The king in yellow is Alpharius pretending to be Valdor maybe? That would be awesome
A lot of people seem to think that. Alpharius could easily disguise himself as Valdor too. Could get very interesting.
@InquisitorRomanov I do think it's very probable GW wouldn't want to give that much info out though, keep the mystery alive. The Alpha Legion remains a fan favorite due to their obscurity within the Warhammer Universe once that goes so does the novelty. We may never know

Alpha legion always struck me as guys who have some of the best reads (excluding night lords trilogy) and most interesting lore crusade- and 40k-lore.
I had to check the unsung bit taking part of the all-alphalegion meeting in the harrowmaster(great book, good writer with suspect politics), here's a quote of them declining:
(Solomon)Do we believe them?(about unsung being stuck on blood forge all that time)
(Halver) You know as well as I that anything is possible. It's something of a moot point though, since the message they sent back told us to eat the business end of our own bolters, in not so many words.
They also mention the Redacted(from Sons of the Hydra novel, that was good too) on the very same page:
(Solomon) What about the Redacted?
(Halver) That bunch of impersonators? Possibly dead, certainly disappeared. Rumour has it that they were at he heart of that mess which saw the end of the Angelbane, and the rest of the Sons of the Hydra.
Yeah, the Unsung weren’t there…but they did make a very big splash. That was my bad. I do audiobooks mostly, and remember the Unsung the most from the warbands mentioned in Harrowmaster.
Then again, with AL, they probably had a representative infiltrating. I’d be disappointed if they didn’t.
@InquisitorRomanov The "eat the business end of our own bolters" and "fabius bile? That charlatan" rant stuck with me, plus Solomon was great as main character. He, occam and kassar would be quite the force if their storylines ever get continued.

Russian text at 7:02 translates to "everyone is ready to strike their blow", according to Google translate.
I would translate it more like, Everyone prepare to strike your blow. But I'm not the very best with Russian, though I do speak it. I think it could also be basically saying, We are prepared to strike our blow. I would have used visya instead of kazhdiy to mean everyone...but I am no expert, it is my second language. I just found this meme when putting the video together, and thought it was appropriate. But if a native speaker could illuminate us in the comments, that would be great. I am RSL, though trying my best Russian is very, very difficult.

one of the primarchs will return, omegon just cause alpha was the beginning and omega the end. so if saying i am alpharious can be brushed off what if an alpha was to say i am omegon would that be more believable? i say they are loyal to humanity but too smart to fall to chaos or fall for corpsy's bs, making them the only hope for humanity.
