I've been hoping for this for a while. I want him to eventually end up broadcasting from Sortiarius and screaming about the lies if the corpse emperor!
He seems to be heavily drawing on Alpharius: Head of the Hydra, from the Primarch series, and the in-universe "Codex Hydra" seems to be a nod to this. Both are first person testimonies from Alpharius, and both begin (more or less) with "I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Superlative work, as ever. Without doubt your work is my favourite amongst lore purveyors. Thank you. Please find a way to add this body of work to Spotify or something I'd listen to the audio alone a hundred times.
What's really interesting is that the encounter with the Lion is told from the Dark Angels perspective in the short story First Legion. In that account, there was only one Alpha legionary who presented himself to the Lion and the exchange was noticeably different. What this means is that Alpharius' account is likely a lie given the untrustworthy narrator issue.
My interpretation of the book is that outside of the Prologue and Epilogue Alpharius is the one speaking. Not only is this my favorite 40k book but it's one of my favorite books of all time.
I’m out here being loyal to a disloyal disloyalist who’s loyal to the loyal disloyalist who likes to be loyal to disloyalty to the disloyalty of loyalists to the loyalists. Or maybe that’s just what I want you to think.
Missed opportunity to casually end the video with "Hydra Dominatus" then have us question literally everything you just said. Holy cow though, I was trying so hard to wrap my head around Alpha Legion, but your final breakdown blew all of it away. I was focused on the trees when I shouldve seen the forest, just how Alpha Legion makes their plays.
Thank you again for another discerning citation of what knowledge you could glean dear Oculus, keep up the good works. This has elucidated my own studies on the primarch
I like to believe that even members of the Alpha Legion are super confused about everything. They actually are super inefficient and can't get anything done. "Am I Alpharius? Are you Alpharius? Is Alpharius even real? What am I meant to do on this mission? Is it a real mission?"
After the Alpha Legion record, it had to happen. Fantastic work, historitor. I particularly like designating the persons and the personas differently, even if it only goes so far in unravelling the mystery.
The final passage switches perspective to Omega. It isn't announced, but there are hints, several sentences which refer to events that Alpha was present for in the third person, saying something to the effect of "my brother told me about 'X,' but I've never seen it in person." Which I would take to mean which Alpha told Omega given the rest of the account. It still fits, it's just delivered in an esoteric way. It's also possible that the author is Omega throughout recounting the tales his brother told him in the eight hours they were left alone in a bunker during which Alpha regaled Omega with all of his past experiences down the the smallest details. In either case, we'll never fully know, but I would personally imagine it's the former. I would also maintain that it's incredibly likely that both primarchs still live. Especially given the dubious nature of their demises and the fact that we have an account surfacing from both perspectives long after they are said to have died, meaning that one if not both is fabricated by the Legion.
Love this video. Alpharius used to be one of my least favorite Primarch's. However he has made it to number 5 with his new novel and later Heresy lore. Still we have the mystery of what happened to him after the Heresy as we know Omegon died to Dorn. Edit: I can't wait for the Valdor and Bequine stuff from you.
By the emperor your work is wonderful to hear my friend! Be it played while I maintain my wargear or when I meditate or sleep your voice is soothing and allowes one to learn in a calm relaxed way. I thank you lore master! Your work is apreshiated by this humble son of Vulkan
Alpharius/Omegon should meet Aizen. This would be an endless sequence of plots inside plots, ilusions inside ilusions, and basically infinite monologues.
i have to listen to you at 1.25 speed, it makes you sound a little more snippy and pompus but it suits the content and the theme of the 40k universe. keep up the great work.
considering the alpha legion's involvement in the Siege of Terra narrative and in a particularly pivotal series set in the 40k era which may have resounding reverberations on the lore when it is completed, the primarchs and every member of the legion might be the only beings immune to the sorcery of the ruinous powers. For both demons and their hunters, True Names are necessary for combat. What happens when your true name isn't just hidden, but this meta-identity, Alpharius, is like a spell that removes any True Name. The Burning of Prospero showed how hiding a true name was an invaluable weapon against sorcery and chaos. Not having one makes you completely impervious.
After the last episode, it finally happened. The Veil fell away. And left our Historator with no where else to take refuge from what the Imperium is, truly. But the frozen waters depths can only be truly seen when its thick surfaces are shattered. Now, the true learning begins. And our Historator can see with clear eyes why the mantle of uncaring life exists at all. Well done.
Yet again solid content that absolutely makes my damned day. Keep it up you never cease to amaze and enthrall! No for real I geek out a bit every video. It's nice my guy thank you.

Or maybe they are both alive and both killed primarchs were doppelgangers or... well, the typical Alpha Legion mess here...
this channel is more than just fandom, it's an artistic transmutation of lore-consumer to lore-creator
I wonder where the Alpha Legion battlecry of "Death to the enemies of the false emperor!" started.
Sevatar of the Night Lords was first to say the phrase Death to the False Emperor, it could of come from there but as most things to do with The Alpha Legion......?
I'm going to make a prediction that the channel has an over arching narrative that we are just getting a glimpse of recently. I think that the records will get progressively more heretical, and maybe less coherent as he 'discovers' more and more. I'm probably wrong, but I'm putting this here now just on the off chance...
Truth corrupts. Absolute truth corrupts absolutely😁
AN open mind is a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.
I've been hoping for this for a while.
I want him to eventually end up broadcasting from Sortiarius and screaming about the lies if the corpse emperor!
@@matthewstone1362 The saying is "Absolute Power corrupts absolutely."
It’s gonna be great when he goes full Tzeetch and starts doing videos on the Dornian Heresy.
Wow...is this from the books? The way you weave together inconsistencies of the cannon as historical errors and redaction is simply brilliant.
He writes all of his scripts. Literally one of the best lore channels ❤
Glad to see you're still around after the last upload somehow, sir! Watch out for servoskulls with an I on them though.
And told from the POV of Alpharius in the Mike Brooks Primarch novel of that name.
*Alpha Legionnaire:* I am Alpharius !
Death Company Marine: Pfft... I am Sanguinius !
You are the most immersive 40k channel on YT. Thank you so much for the A+ content.
omfg! I just finished reading head of the hydra an hour before this was posted.
Dammit "I am Alpharius" is just "Hail Hydra", how did I just realize that.
That... Actually makes sense..
That extra long fade out...I was waiting for the "HydraDominatus" but it never came.
Well played sir.
My interpretation of the book is that outside of the Prologue and Epilogue Alpharius is the one speaking. Not only is this my favorite 40k book but it's one of my favorite books of all time.
If I give this video someone in 40 minutes they'll think that I'm insane.
Shock twist, "Alpha" is actually Alfabusa and this is his memoir.
I’m out here being loyal to a disloyal disloyalist who’s loyal to the loyal disloyalist who likes to be loyal to disloyalty to the disloyalty of loyalists to the loyalists. Or maybe that’s just what I want you to think.
Maybe, maybe not
@@Hiihtopipa I am not what I am not, not. Maybe.

You sir have the best Warhammer lore content. They way you present it is amazing, thank you for all of your hard work.
Alpharius and Omegon are the ultimate Unreliable Narrators.
as evidenced by the piece of literature referenced by Oculus.
You are right. Or are you? Ha just kidding. Or am I?
@@whoisheiforgothisname2103 this guy 😂
Missed opportunity to casually end the video with "Hydra Dominatus" then have us question literally everything you just said. Holy cow though, I was trying so hard to wrap my head around Alpha Legion, but your final breakdown blew all of it away. I was focused on the trees when I shouldve seen the forest, just how Alpha Legion makes their plays.
Hell yes brother. Hydra Dominatus.
Hydra Dominatus! Thanks for the wonderful content
‘Alpharius’ was easily the best 40k/30k story I’ve read in a very long time. Easily top 3.
Huh so I guess nobody has found his Herecy tapes
YET
he probably keeps them on him at all times so no "stumbles" across them
@@CynicalPete that or he's got a data stack labled 'playboy' under his bed but it's actually pure undiluted anti-imperial records
More Alpha legion content, I worry for your sanity
By the emperor your work is wonderful to hear my friend! Be it played while I maintain my wargear or when I meditate or sleep your voice is soothing and allowes one to learn in a calm relaxed way. I thank you lore master! Your work is apreshiated by this humble son of Vulkan
"The Alpha Legion, and Alpharius, existed." - Rogal Dorn
Alpharius/Omegon should meet Aizen. This would be an endless sequence of plots inside plots, ilusions inside ilusions, and basically infinite monologues.
Hey man, WAIT.
Your narration is superb. Your scripting is very well done. Gladly subb'd.
Another worthy entry Scribe.
I put it under immediate review following evening tactical indoctrination sessions and night fire exercises.
Have you gone into hiding? Are you a renegade now? I’m curious about the oculus lore now lol
All of these are just clips of the longest suicide note ever.
He’s probably not renegade but he’s not the imperiums biggest fan
Leave the questioning to the Inquisitors and immediately return to serving the emperor.
Yes! Thank you for covering the Alpha Legion! I feel like they don't get enough screen time.
i have to listen to you at 1.25 speed, it makes you sound a little more snippy and pompus but it suits the content and the theme of the 40k universe. keep up the great work.
Long time listener, first time commentor. Your work is truly outstanding in a day and age without much to look forward to. The hydra awakes.
This is exactly what I needed to learn more about the rabbit hole of this legion. Thank you very much for this exegesis. The Hydra Awakes
Throne-damn, that was some good shit with which to end the loathsome week
Amen, Saige. Let the weekend commence!
Finally somebody in the Warhammer community who made them sound cool af,
This may be one of my favorite videos yet.
Such an awesome job emoting the obtuse weight of the 20th first legions dissonance
Absolute love for the subject matter delivered with not a small bit of genius
considering the alpha legion's involvement in the Siege of Terra narrative and in a particularly pivotal series set in the 40k era which may have resounding reverberations on the lore when it is completed, the primarchs and every member of the legion might be the only beings immune to the sorcery of the ruinous powers.
I am a simple person. I see a video of the Oculus of the Logos Historica Verita, I hit like and write a comment.
This is a masterful narration! I clinged to your every word! LOVED IT so much!!
Well done.
Excellent work as always, Historator.
Hydra Dominatus! Great work historitor.
This channel needs more views
Yet again solid content that absolutely makes my damned day. Keep it up you never cease to amaze and enthrall!
No for real I geek out a bit every video. It's nice my guy thank you.
I see the Oculus has survived somehow the record _before_ this one. How, will be a question for the ages, but the sight is welcome nonetheless!
This is the video I’ve been waiting for. Many thanks.
Ah yes now I've lost sleep and I can't tell of my beds Alpharius
Well at least they got a good callidus operative to replace oculus after he "fell" on 27 bullets for the last "hot mic" broadcast
“To alpharius he bequeathed 2.” Love that

Well, that is quite a tale that the Alpha Legion is feeding the Oculus through that "accidental" discovery to distract him from the real discovery that He found the Alpha Legion Primarch on Luna. But then again nobody may find out that they are Loyalists until the time is right.
