Favorite character I've made for one of the Fantasy Flight 40k TTPRG's was an Alpha Legion marine. He had no name, just a code name. He remembered the Heresy but there where many gaps in his memory of the following 10.000 years and was strangely unmarked by any chaos corruption. All he did ever did was follow his orders, given to him by Alpharius Omegon himself. Follow "the plan". And he did, even though he never really know what "the plan" was. Many of his memories where locked behind certain conditions and code phrases that, if achieved or spoken, would give him access to remember more of "the plan". He wore an original corvus armor, stolen from the Raven Guard in ancient times, but remarkedly well preserved for being 10.000 year old. He was notorious among the Inquisition, who had created an entire Ordo Minoris just to deal with him, and they seemingly had by killing him, several times, only for him to mysteriously reappear again some decades later each time. The secret was that he was not just one marine but many. Every time a version of him died another Alpha Legionary would get the memories of all the precious ones available transplanted into him and become the new one. Then that version would spend some time anonymously, gathering new and old contacts, finding old and new war gear, and then suddenly just reappear out of nothing in the galactic scene. And then continue "the plan".

the alpha legion are my favorite legion. In the Alpharius primarch book its implied that he went traitor to undermine chaos from within and that hes still the emperors sword that the alpha legion is a ghost legion and Alpharius still being loyal just makes sense considering he was raised by Malcador and the Big E.

I have always been in love with the idea that the Alpha Legion Stasis pods under the Imperial Palace have been left in tact. The Custodes know the codes and see prematurely killing them off as weakening Terra's hand if shit gets so bad that they need a quick boost of reinforcements, or a distraction. Like, almost EVERY Bloodgame has the invading Custodes ponder opening one or two, but leaves them there out of a mixed sense of pride and duty. EVERY resource is at their disposal, if they can get their hands on it. This though? It stays. *Queue image of a Custodes slapping the mechadendrite of a curious Martian priest.*

I would love for GW to actually push a whole Alpha Legion narrative and release both a Loyalist sect and Heretic sect of miniatures. Having a faction split across two opposing forces would be so interesting for both lore dynamics and table top dynamics.
Thanks for this. Even my friends into Warhammer aren’t into Alpha Legion lore and I’m the only one who read most of their books. It’s good to hear this and see different view and filling in gaps I missed.
Huge points for dropping a reference to the Spanish civil war into an Alpha Legion video. That was the war which introduced the term “5th column” so it’s very appropriate.
I can't wait for the chaos space marine codex to come out to see how the alpha legion plays. Thanks for making videos on the alpha legion, they are some of the most interesting faction in 40k
I think the shattering was intentional on Omegon's part. The "third way" was endless war between humanity and Chaos (think in Legion about Alpharius' thought experiment that utopias are impossible to reach, but empires and built and maintained by constant conflict). Once Alpharius was out of the picture, Omegon had to balance the equation by taking himself out of the Legion's command structure. Without either Primarch to guide them, infighting increased, playing both sides continued. The goal is not to fully destroy the Imperium or Chaos, but to lock them both in a never-ending cycle of war.
Even if that wasnt their intention between the two of them, that was definitely the results they are getting. I like that much better than the written-in goal to destroy humanity/imperium to rid the world of chaos.
@yungmalaria which is a stupid plan to begin with. Sure, you might get rid of chaos for a while, but after some time the remaining and newer races will grow to cover the gap left by humanity, meaning chaos will return.
On the note of people potentially not recognising a Primarch, there's the War of the False Primarch still lurking in the background. I know it's unlikely, but I love to entertain the possibility that the False Primarch was indeed Omegon and things played out exactly as you described.
Very interesting video, I like how you take into the account the various activity of the different writers, their backgrounds. I like the current state of things with the alpha legions, but I would also like they took a more proeminent role in the Warhammer40K universe.
Excellent video. I love the thoroughness of your content. I think having them splintered suits GW’s narrative interests at present. That keeps you guessing what a specific group of Alpha Legion marines in a story are really up to.
As a new fan of the Alpha Legion, I have to say I thoroughly enjoy your content 😎 and I get excited for you full videos and shorts. Keep up the great work 👌🏻. Hydra Dominatus 🐍
If you are referring to my comment on Majorkill's video, I said you could are the only loretuber who explained Alpharius/Omegon and Alpharius in a way I understood, rather than the normal lore regurgitation.
When I was reading Harrowmaster I had a really hard time reading it. Solomon felt too good, too kind. I know it’s from his point of view but the entire time reading it I wished some heresy era Marnie’s would come and smack him down a peg. Not a bad book but Solomon was to close to an oc than I would like.
We need a book where there’s a civil war or about a planet in which one side is being supported with traitors and one with loyalist be it Space Marine or Imperial Guard or just a book about Omegon coming back into the future
According to The Horus Heresy Book Three Extermination from Forge World, Ghost Legion was a name given by some within the early Great Crusade era Imperium to Astartes conducting covert operations later attributed to the Alpha Legion.
The thing about the Alpha Legion is that while the speculation about them is very broad because of their nature, it makes them about as deep as a puddle of piss.
35:50 I am from spain, thats literally what we are told at school. The reds (as they were called) had such problems fighting themselves that by the time they had some peace in their ranks, the war was already over. Such a nice reference
If Alpharius does come back, who's to say he wants anyone to know he's back? I'm willing to bet the Marines who call themselves Alpharius is all part of a plan for his return.
I'm a huge Alpha Legion fan and I hope they keep Omegon's fate a mystery. The mystery is half the fun with the Alpha Legion. That said, a civil war brought about by his return could be interesting and I'd be ok if done in the right way
Tbf the whole point of the Legion is they use Mystery for everything, but in an end of everything scenario, could fully see them come out of the Shadow's with a half Legion strenght which would be largely enough to crush nigh anything at this point, in an all or nothing gambit
I love the theories but I will never be convinced that Omegon or Alpharius survived. This actually helped me fell better about that, because it sounds like that the Alpha Legion just in various stages of grief. If the OG marines from the Heresy would like one of the Primarchs to come to ensure their safety then they would some point believe that their leaders are dead. The newer marines do not care because they fell no connection to their Primarch. This is something that is shown in the Hersey that when a Primarch is killed it will affect their legion on a genetic level. Sanguinious and the Black Rage as an example, a bleak one but one worth mention I think. Alpha Legion is confusing but that’s what makes the theories fun.
Akura is very keen and capable, but still leagues behind the average Ultramarine or Blood Angel protagonist. He gets both played and chumped twice in his book, which is always a good sign you are reading about a character and not a self insert.
Awesome But the one thing you are missing is that omegon and alpharius (the first found) switched places as soon as they met and talked on the planet alpharius (first found) collects omegon. Henceforth the one known as omegon is actually the original alpharius. Making the alpharius killed by dorm actually omegon (the second found) Meaning the real slim alpharius (first found) is the one who fights guiliman (but does as you say and sends a proxy who is killed instead) This was by design To continue to work in the shadows as the sword in the dark. The living alpharius (first found and who was known as omegon after the switch ) is the one who is and always was the “sword in the dark”
Ngl but that laughing scene on whats suppose to be "tradition" scream quite lefty. Then again, video was great...abbadon 2.0 aside of a new guy getting everything from resource, supports, equipment (possible) and scoffs at the traditions of heresy alpha legion. But its also a fun Jab at the meme of "I am alpharius"
I love the theory that there are more than twins Primarchs, I like to belieave that there are six Alpha Legion Primarch after the original first number of heads of the Hydra
We actually get inside the head of the Sorceror in charge of the AL working for Be'lakor when he fights Vashtorr. In Charadon pt 2. He's fully in the thrall of Be'lakor, who is able to read his mind and deeper consciousness.
As an Alpha Legion fan I hate the new lore where "there are no original Alpha Legionnaires left". Instead the AL is just a larp faction for random renegades from other chapters. It sucks and I reject it. Oh and screw Solomon and all that cringe from Harrowmaster. I play my Alpha Legion as chaos marines, and the story behind them is that they serve as a diversion force in order for the loyal AL to work in the shadows.
Love this. My head canon still has a faction that purely stands for the imperial truth and are manipulating Solomon and his ghost legion as a false flag.
Liked the video, but two things. One, Alpharius and Omegon traded names at the end of the Head of The Hydra. Two, the Alpha Legion also has full access to the Primarch Project gene codes and data that they stole during the book Deliverance Lost, so making even similar Demi Primarch’s like what Fulgrim did with the perfect clone of Horus would be completely doable.
Great video man. I'm a huge fan of the Alpha Legion and this just vibes for me. Didn't Omegon hide within the Lernaen terminators while Alpharius(or whoever was playing as Aloharius) was the head?
I'm actually fully on board with the whole idea of an Alpha Legion civil war where over 10,000 years, the remnants no longer know what the other cells and warbands are thinking or doing and are distrustful of each other to a fault and you can have as many motivations and goals as you do warbands. This is good from a tabletop perspective where individual players can canonically say if their Alpha Legion army/ kill team is loyalist or traitor and still be correct, but it also lends to some interesting narrative possibilities that's unique to the faction; no other Space Marine faction is non-binary in their alliance and it can really leave you guessing if ones you run into the stories are loyal or not. Celestine giving her approval for the Alpha Legion to run off with the Beacon is huge in the sense that she's basically as close to a living embodiment of the Emperor's will as you can find, and books like Harrowmaster make it pretty clear that there's a huge diversity in Alpha Legion warbands who don't see eye to eye on a lot of things even when they all fundamentally oppose the Imperium. It would be great to have some big narrative pay off where a warband we *think* is opposed to loyalist characters ends up being the key to their success in the end, or if ones like the Legionnaire in Eisenhorn's retinue was playing the long game and made off with something that shakes up the setting. I think the Alpha Legion does best when it's not front and center of narratives, but when they can be used to drive the plot forward, it can really keep you guessing.
Some space marine : i am alpharius Traitor alpha legionaire : take your meds Loyal alpha legionaire : take my meds Actual alpharius : SERBIA SERBIA SERBIA !
One group i was in said my pre-heresy legion was thousand suns and post heresy loyalizt was alpha legion-and this was before recent books with it being even more ambigious.
I’m going to be ignored most likely. But, if RGills is the greatest pencil pusher in the Imperium. And the greatest gripe the Alpha legion has with the imperium is the corruption… why hasn’t RGills gone and done something about it?? Tasking Inquisitors to route it out and purge it. You’d think RGills has more IQ than simply pencil pushing with a blind eye
Idk if you'll ever see this but I'd like to suggest an idea for a video: What would a primarch turn out like if they ended up on different xenos worlds? I think it'd be fun speculation and idk if anyone has ever covered this idea before. A joke about how a scattered primarch would turn out on a tyranid world writes itself but I guess you could talk about how them being eaten would affect the hive fleet and it might be interesting to speculate about how a primarch would develop if they ended up in a genestealer cult too. If you wanted to flesh the video out with extra content you could discuss how you think the Horus heresy would affect them and their chances of becoming a traitor - maybe the Eldar-raised primarch would end up defecting back to a craftworld? Maybe the Tau primarch wouldn't have ever left and so they'd be completely unaffected by the events of the heresy? I wonder if a Drukhari-raised primarch would have contacts within the Drukhari and be able to broker a deal between them and Angron to get the butcher's nails safely removed in exchange for them keeping the tech..? I feel like there would be a lot to explore in this idea. Love your stuff, keep up the good work!
One thing that does seem inevitable is a serious attempt by some Heresy-Era Marines to take control of Solomon Akurra's organisation. Considering how rare it is for a Chaos Marine as young as him to have this much power I can't see this not happening.
After alpharius found omegon they switch names. The legion splintered just like the pale spear does. What better way too play in the shadows than too fake your death/deaths
I really liked the video! I'm personally pretty hyped by the idea of an alpha civil war and the primarch return! (plus I've just seen your video about the alpha légion yesterday so it a perfect timing to dive in it xD) Thought I have a interrogation since you believe it is the first primarque who have potentially survive (and I believe to) why are you calling him omegron? It should be alpharius no? I'm confused xD
Ksar and Arkum meeting would be interesting. If they do actually agree, at least enough for the heresy era legionnaires to favor them then the added legitimacy could be enough to instigate a proper civil war, bringing in a decent amount of numbers. Even without the war it's enough to have a proper split with 2 main factions. One for each path the twins were given, and the potential to see them come to compromise..... A third path even..... If so it could be a great time to maybe bring back Omegon.
Why do I remember the Cabal's plan relying on Horus being overcome with grief/madness over what he did and wiping out humanity? I definitely don't remember them saying, "Horus will make a bad Enperor and his ineffectual leadership will cause the end of humanity."
Is it possible that the Alpha Legionary with Eisenhorn, Death Row, has been enhanced with Alpharius’ blood, and he will reveal himself as Alpharius while the actual Alpharius lurks in the shadows, in case of Alpharius being targeted by either or both Imperial and Chaos forces when he tries to rebind the Legion together?
The real question is it possible it is the top snake himself? We know he can diminish his size and primarch aura. If anybody is brave enough to write a twist like that it's Dan abnett
@@Scott90314 It's entirely possible, but it's also possible that he'll pretend that that Alpharius is the actual Alpharius while the actual Alpharius is off Alphariusing elsewhere.
Wouldn't it make more sense for the twin who died being Omegon because why would Alpharius believe the Cabal so forwardly. Omegon being raised by Sloths. I would think would make him more open to believing the vision of the Cabal but maybe I'm missing information
The alpha legion has strong motifs around the number 3. 3 headed hydra, 3 diamonds, the third way, etc. The joke about alpharius being turned into triplets seems a bit far fetched to me, but it could be true in a different way. The alpha legion is broken into pieces with different allegiances. Loyalist, chaos, and independant. Black, white, and grey. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Alpharius, Omegon, Alphagon? Perhaps to unite a divided legion, the primarch will have to recover and unite the parts of himself.

@@livefromtheblacklibrary GW when money will go low Deltagon, Betarius, Gammos
Nah bro. All Alpha legionaries are Primarchs
So good to see this video out, and boy is it another banger. I am actually really glad you are such an AL fan because honestly you seem to be the only creator who give them a decent time of day without either deriding them or just making them a big meme.
I really hope GW does have plans for them, in a perfect world I'd love to see an AL faction that on the table top that is independent of the CSM. Seeing how the Dark Angels are working with redeemed elements of the Fallen now, it would be cool to see an AL alternative to that.
the alpha legion are my favorite legion. In the Alpharius primarch book its implied that he went traitor to undermine chaos from within and that hes still the emperors sword that the alpha legion is a ghost legion and Alpharius still being loyal just makes sense considering he was raised by Malcador and the Big E.
We have a security breach.

Can Chrono do a video about how Bruva Alfabusa and TTS shaped the wider 40K community?
“How TTS Changed Everything” would be a cool topic I’ll admit 👀

Once again 'Live!' crushes some Alpha Legion content.
So happy to see the growth, you're content is genuinely some fresh stuff.
harrowmaster was such a fun book, love how you described how everyone goes 'oh here we go again' when one of the faceless announces themselves as alpharius
I just watched your Imperial Fists video and I neeeeed you to bring back that jazzy intro goddamn I was groovin
Yeah but it actually hurts my retention rate :( I usually get like 72% still watching after the first 30 seconds but with the intro it goes down to like 52%
@@livefromtheblacklibrary damn okay I mean thats fair but I suppose the intro can rest easy knowing it was at least appreciated
29:16 I agree wholeheartedly about loyalist Alpha Legion members same goes with Cypher to a certain extent and being a bit more interesting as how they have to react to the galaxy
20:26 Bro😂, tbh I usually cant sit through hour long videos, but i find kronos' scripts, line delivery, voice and sense of humour to be very entertaining
The Unsung should join the nightlords and paint lightning strikes across their armour
I like to belive that the whole "I am alpharius" thing is the équivalent of "I'm Ryan Gosling" in the 40k universe
0:37 we just gone ingore that god tier art
Lets freakin GOOOOOO! Awesome video btw. Learning more about the legion because of your book suggestions so I'm loving the content 💪
45 min nice I only watchnlong format videos . Playing on repeat also at night helping me sleep nice work man
If Cipher did turn out to be Alpharius that would make the "Not Yet" quote make so much more sense
Legion was a great book. Hurtado Bronzi was the best mortal character In all the heresy books.
I don't think you'd see Omegon come back and say "I am Alpharius."
Rather
"I am Solomon", no questions about the blood on my spear please.
The Primarchs book ending with the Alpha Legion was by far my most favorite Alpha Legion story. The voice actor and the story writer did a great job.
My preference is a loyal Alpha Legion that works with Chaos to undermine Chaos.
Basically, out Tzeentch-ing Tzeentch.
No much more realistic. Being Xanthite Inquisitiors using Chaos against Chaos.
45 min video nice ill put it play to sleep . thankss love long format video
Ayyyy glad you like it! I also used to fall asleep to lore videos XD
My response to the Omegon video was:
It's an hour long?
HELL YEAH! LET'S GO!
I am a very strange person.
You kinda took my V card with the Alpha Legion lore right now. It was worth it.
Keep it up. Your commentary style is unique. You’ll do well.
3:18 the 63rd expedition was the Luna wolves one, the one they actually helped was in the thousands and only had human support
Btw I just finished end and the death and it states he was initiating loyalty for Horus
Aaaah. The Alpha Legion. So confusing and random it honestly makes them fun as hel.

Awesome
But the one thing you are missing is that omegon and alpharius (the first found) switched places as soon as they met and talked on the planet alpharius (first found) collects omegon.
Henceforth the one known as omegon is actually the original alpharius. Making the alpharius killed by dorm actually omegon (the second found)
Meaning the real slim alpharius (first found) is the one who fights guiliman (but does as you say and sends a proxy who is killed instead)
This was by design
To continue to work in the shadows as the sword in the dark.
The living alpharius (first found and who was known as omegon after the switch ) is the one who is and always was the “sword in the dark”
Thats some dedication though i doubt either would care so long as one lives after all they are basically one person in two bodies
Imagine a civil war that you don't even know who's loyal to your cause and you shoot anyone because of you're paranoia.
What do you want to bet that when the original twin went missing he started the assasinorum
Love this.
My head canon still has a faction that purely stands for the imperial truth and are manipulating Solomon and his ghost legion as a false flag.
Primarch aura is a hell of a thing
They turned a Callidus? holy crap.
What you really think that assassin can't be turned? Assassin's aren't Custodes you know.
It wouldn't surprise me if Brooks was setting Solomon up for a fall. This is the setting where idealists die, after all.
I laughed so hard at the Spider-Man clip my dog came to investigate
Some space marine : i am alpharius
Traitor alpha legionaire : take your meds
Loyal alpha legionaire : take my meds
Actual alpharius : SERBIA SERBIA SERBIA !
You know that it fits their theme 100% that the expert of the alpha Legion still feels like he knows shit about them
One group i was in said my pre-heresy legion was thousand suns and post heresy loyalizt was alpha legion-and this was before recent books with it being even more ambigious.
Anyone complaining about long videos stfu. Long videos are the best. Please do more.
For anyone who is complaining, UA-cam shorts are that way 👉
I’m going to be ignored most likely.
Idk if you'll ever see this but I'd like to suggest an idea for a video:
What would a primarch turn out like if they ended up on different xenos worlds?
I can actually see him keeping controll, but giving in further to Chaos thus dividing is own faction in an Isstvan kind of purge
After alpharius found omegon they switch names. The legion splintered just like the pale spear does. What better way too play in the shadows than too fake your death/deaths
I really liked the video! I'm personally pretty hyped by the idea of an alpha civil war and the primarch return! (plus I've just seen your video about the alpha légion yesterday so it a perfect timing to dive in it xD)
Thought I have a interrogation since you believe it is the first primarque who have potentially survive (and I believe to) why are you calling him omegron? It should be alpharius no? I'm confused xD
3:53 he's talking about John Grammatical
Look, if the character dies offscreen, they're alive.
Solomon is Omegon . Ok I can’t back that up
Ksar and Arkum meeting would be interesting.
Loved the 1hour long vid. Made my pale spear ready for action
For the warmaster? Is it hydradomanis? No! it's for the emporer right?
Why do I remember the Cabal's plan relying on Horus being overcome with grief/madness over what he did and wiping out humanity?
I definitely don't remember them saying, "Horus will make a bad Enperor and his ineffectual leadership will cause the end of humanity."
The Judas's Burden if you will...
Would had made sense, sealing that betrayal arc with obviously, deep, unfathomable regret.
@@Scott90314 At this Point Eisenhorn could be 100% be in support of a "loyalist" Alpha Legion. I mean the Imperium thinks HE is a heretic as well.
