once you get in, finish your branch specialisation training and get assigned to a ship or unit youll have a DO and an RO, talk to either of them if you want to become an officer, theyll turn you over to your CO who will discuss the Upper Yardsman Scheme and how to get placed on it. It seems convulted and it is, but if u have the aptitude amd determination they should be eager to get you down to BRNC. If you are dead set on being an officet and not yet in id say join up as n officer, if youre not too sure or want to understand naval life then join up as a rating and do a few years first.
Yes you do. You have to manage at least 3 rope climbs by IMF pass out. The training is progressive however and you’re given decent coaching on the technique.
Sent off my application yesterday for a rating I hope it’s successful I’m so excited to get started.

So is it actually possible to join as a rating then apply for commission right after finishing basic training? Or do you still need a levels for that?
