This is how we want things to go down. There is no reason to go any further and increase hostilities. If we can just stand firm, diffuse the situation, without further escalation, we can all go home safe. Respect to all those men and women for a job well done.

Kudos to the captain of HMS Duncan! He kept a very cool head and prevented an international incident from happening.

A destroyer like this can shoot down aircraft, the ships, and any missiles they fire. They said man the guns because that's all they'd probably need for those little boats. It's out there alone because it probably wouldn't need much help, they should understand this before bothering it.

The British Captain WAS DEFINITELY smart BUT then again HE didn't instigate the aggression THAT was instigated at the sole discretion of Tehran. The Iranians need to be aware that Britain is more than capable of initiating her own 'Operation Praying Mantis' action against Iran and her assets with devastating effect.

I remember when I was on a troop ship going to Germany we were in sight of a French aircraft carrier and planes were taking off. they fired two HE rounds over the ship and the captain said they did not want us to come to close in case of an accident. what amazed me that they were able to get the two rounds to explode right over our ship. from such a short distance.

So did they (Duncan) investigate the platform or back off themselves? Not clear from this clip what the outcome really was on that.

Perhaps you should consider it was from the skill of the captain and crew of the Royal Navy HMS Duncan that nothing did happen of literally what no one wants of open hostilities. The sailers did their job of doing what they needed to to send enough of a warning deterrent to the Iranian vessel not to push it any further and the Iranians thankfully - didn't. Surely that is enough you would wish to happen.

I notice the Royal Navy is using the R/T address 'This is British Warship'. I much prefer the previous address which would now be 'This is His Britannic Majesty's Warship'.

@@flesz_ I know the United States Navy is much more capable in defending the personnel and ships with weapons and tactics that you're not even aware of, most of us have no idea of the depth of these defenses because it's terrible military strategy to make them all known.
⛔️I think that no one here still knows that when a military ship approaches the water borders of the country (in here it is Iran) without invitation from that country, the warships of that country will move along its water border with that military ship until the military ship of another country the native should take a clear and safe distance from the water borders of that country!

It's a point of what could happen, next time it won't be a flare. It should make them think twice, which they did.
There are at least two dozen anti ship batteries ready to light up the vessel if it comes down to it. It was nothing more than "I know you are here, back away".
