Medical marijuana has helped significantly with the shakes. Again, I'm not trying to be mean, Duke is a gentleman and I want nothing but the best for him and his Buff Family.

Spent many months without training due to covid closing gyms. I saved some money for a little while and today i just finished making my own barbell. Looks awesome, feels awesome. Thanks buff dad, you helped get back my strength and fitness groove. Next up, power rack!
A heads up to those attempting this... would add if you are going to make one of these make sure that you measure your ID of the weight plates you have with calipers....they have a lot of variance 2.0" will not fit a lot of them and bumper plates inner collars might have slight deformations out of round that need to be compensated for. I am not sure what 2" exhaust pipe OD is exactly but Most Barbells are more like 1.95" OD or 50 mm (1.96") on the sleeve, a lot of custom bars you see will use schedule 40/80 1.5" pipe (thats ID) which will give an OD of around 1.9 and then you have lots of clearance for plates....but some collars are too loose! Great parts list and build for people to DIY it up without needing much tools!
It was said during times of Sparta the warrior society flourishing - If a local village was in trouble, that sending ONLY one Spartan General was enough to make the entire village believe they could fight and achieve victory. All of these DIY videos are amazing content. Showing average people how they can build their own gym equipment for a fraction of the cost. There really is no excuses if you have the desire to lift, you will find a way. Awesome video.
It's crazy. Before COVID, I bought some bars for $10 a piece. Now everyone is selling them for $100+. I'm still holding onto mine, though, because they are worth more than money. But it's badass, this video, I hope many people are able to get inspired to build this and get buff in their yard like I do.
I finished up mine a few days ago. Used spray can truck bed liner for the bar to add grip. I also sprayed the marking in on the bar so I know where to put my hands. Set a new PR on bench with it (yes I took it to the gym). would never thought about this without your video. Thanks for the inspiration.
To get closer to a 45lb barbell you could fill the middle of the pipe with concrete or weld a smaller one in the middle for added strength aswell. Just a thought for some of you motivators out there.

I plan on making one into a 2 in axle bar. After seeing how awesome you made one i feel the need to build my own olympic bar now. Thank you for the video DIY Duke!
Building it for fun would be interesting but if you're going to lift heavy weights with this you might wreck your joints as the bar doesn't roll. Normal bars are supposed to roll to minimize the torque you'd have to deal with otherwise.
@@FlyingUnosaur you don't "wreck your joints" with non rolling sleeves, it just increases the difficulty. You can buy strongman axle bar with non rolling sleeves and 450kg rating from strengthshop which is used at competition level, the athlete attempts to manually roll the bar up their chest and then straighten their posture when the bar is above the head locked out. So it helps to have decent grip in order to control the bar rolling/resist too much roll in the hands
