Hands down THE BEST concrete weights build. I didn't even care it had no background music or anything. I was thoroughly engaged in the techniques applied. Big up yourself all the way from trinidad and tobago 🇹🇹
This was me during Covid lockdown, couldn't get to the gym so made my own weights, bench , pulley machine etc still going strong & actually used them this morning until the rain started..💪💪👍
This video gave me some ideas I didn't think about and I'm pretty ingenious myself, so I'll give one back, instead of making your own silicone bumper just reuse a bicycle inertube folded over as many times as necessary, and use oil.
I'd say to improve the material used, I'd suggest, rapid set, high strength grout you can buy online, and mix your fiberglass into that. Other than that, excellent job!
you can use a sander for vibration to get the air pockets out of the cement while it’s in its drying process. But, you have to leave one side open. It will stay flat and even during the whole process.
Yes, this is his only major mistake. There are many tools that be used as an improvised vibrator, or even just rent a real one from a tool store for a day to complete the castings.
Use Rebar, use the thin ones, make two squares tie them together and put them in around the middle where it is not visible put one layer of concrete put them above it and cover it filling the spaces, the space between both squares can be small. That is the difference between it breaking apart with 1 fall and breaking apart with 10.
Looove the way the plates came out. Thin it's the best DIY Plates video ever. But all the time and effort into it looks scary. Think I will just buy some plates
put in a lot of work, plates look amazing, great job. I only think the bumper is not wide enough cause the edges are the most fragile part which is left uncovered. I wish there would be a cheap way to rubberize the entire plate..
Great video, & very informative! I have a suggestion: you could try using "Plasti Dip" rubber spray to coat the weights with multiple layers. It would help them hold together better and last longer. Plus, it comes in various colors, so you could even color-code the weights according to their size.
@@_Donideas_or liquid soap as cheaper solution ) and add polypropylene fiber, or small screws or cutted wool - it will make it stronger, help it bond. Also concrete gets its full strength up to 15 days, and first 3 days u need to spray it a little cause its need moisture to finish chemical process wright way. In my country we build houses with concrete and bricks, not with wood)
Make a vibrating table or otherwise create a vibration to expel excess air and fill the void. You will get a smooth, uniform concrete structure without cavities. Good luck to you 💪
This is prob the best video I've seen thus far on making the concrete weight plates. I have a 3d printer and plan on using it to make the stencil instead of the foam though. Thank you!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it :), 3d printing, that’s a much better way to do it 🤯 I’m not gonna lie It was so boring to make so many stencil by hand hehe. Good idea
Yes I did and they are close enough for me, maybe there’s one or two with an extra pound, but it depends on how careful you are to pour the concrete, thank you :)
When making them i think i would off put a screw through the sides on a wall plate then put mixture in so i could cut old tyres around them with the screws good idea though
Guess it would be more effective to make rubber bands out of old bicycle inner tubes You'd have to adjust plates diameter to fit existing tube sizes. There's enough options of kids bikes. Eventually you could fix then somehow I guess
9:38 THAT WAS MY PROBLEM FIRST TIME APPLYING CABLE TO MAKE THE CONCRETE WEIGHT PLATE HARDEN MORE ESPECIALLY MOLDING BIGGER ONE LIKE THAT ITS IMPORTANT TO SOAK THE CABLE OR ANY SOLID METAL TO MAKE THE SOLID BUILD :)
A little tips that i got from other creator if you want your plate quite shiny, just cover all the surfaces with cello tape before you put in your cement.
Hi. I can buy 2*10, 2*25 and 2*45 pound plates for $175. How much money did you spend on materials of the same set? And I understand that you didn't do it because of the economy. I wish you success.
Thanks! Well, not everyone has access to a set of weight plates at that price, and if they do, they're probably pretty crappy, at least for me, because I care about aesthetics :) , but you know muscles don’t seem to care. I spent around $200 and it’s still cheaper than a pair of 45lb plates here, so it’s a win win for me. 👍🏼
@@_Donideas_ Waaait what? $200? Could you please give prices for each spent item? in the US 94 lb. Portland Cement - $17 or 80 lb. Concrete Mix - $6 50 lb. All-Purpose Gravel - $5 Silicone Caulk - $10-12 for 10 oz boards, plastic, PVC, wire, fiber etc just scraps or very cheap
😂 yes but concrete is the cheapest thing of the project, here you can get 110 pounds of concrete for $5 pretty cheap but the cost of melamine, fiber reinforcement, foam boards, caulk, tape, the silicone, I think I included the tools as well like the spring scale and basic tools like the bucket and shovel etc… I listed everything in the description, that’s the complete total cost so I think it’s pretty close :)
Without regard to aethstetics, one could make plates for approximately $1.00 each, by making your mould out of wetted sand, and priming it with diesel-oil. You might have to get creative on the weighing process if you want it to remain dirt cheap.
I don't understand one thing, why do such nonsense, spend so much time and resources if you can buy ready-made equipment and do it?! When you have a lot of free time, it's better to do useful things
Bro, when was the last time you bought barbell plates. They cost an arm, leg, and your first child. For me I'm not lifting heavy yet, and I only have 2 10lb plates and 2 35s which cost me $120 used. I'd rather spend some time making molds, buying a 80lb bag of concrete for $5, pouring, and letting it dry. I personally have them on a cable machine and it matters 0%, I just don't want to spend the $ on like 8 10lb plates. (2 separate pulley carriers and 2 posts on each one, 2:1 ratio, makes only 20 lbs on each side. My weak self can't do curls w the 35s yet, but the 10s are too light now.

Filling in all voids with a concrete slurry, or even silicone, then giving the plates a coat of oil based paint would really make them look amazing
Good suggestion! But I love the aspect of gray concrete :)
Vibrating the container to get out the air bubbles would also help
Best DIY concrete weights online I've seen yet.
Thank you, appreciate it :)
This video gave me some ideas I didn't think about and I'm pretty ingenious myself, so I'll give one back, instead of making your own silicone bumper just reuse a bicycle inertube folded over as many times as necessary, and use oil.

Thank you for this non-bullshit video. Very informative and therapeutic.

Couple coats of plastidip
This is genius 🎉
Btw pvc pipe cutter will save lot of your time. Next project melt iron or easy one aluminium to make weight plate or dumbell 🙏🏻
Thanks for the tip
This is how pyramids were made!😂
I got this video rcommended randomly. Cool project and interesting channel!
Thank you appreciate it!!
The corn starch and silicon was pretty slick
Thank you!
Make a video showing us how fabricate dumbells concrete.. 👍🏻
That's really clever I like that. Im cury, did you weigh them after?
Unfortunately I don't think they would weigh the same as the dry ingredients.
Thank you, yes the weight is pretty close to the number not perfect but pretty close.
Why not?
I was hoping to see you lifting it 😅

These concrete weight plates are really amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
very good video

one question. in what country do you live?
Thanks for sharing all the steps clearly. Will use this to make mine❤
can you actually weight them? But very good video. Didnt know you could do that to make the rubber covering

why the central part with 2 pvc pipes and not putting directly the grey pipe inside the mold?
Yeah to show you how to make them and to remove them if I buy a olympic barbell
Add polypropylene fibers, or cutted wool for integrity - its used in cement floors
Thank you but I did add fiber reinforcement 🤣
Excelent , et presque Hypnotisant
merci pour le partage j'aime beaucoup la technique utilisé
Thank you!
Is so easy to use scooty tyre and fill in concrete, good grip and Droubilte
If you want to avoid holes and for the letters to be clearly readable, use cement and finer stones.
Good suggestion, thank you
Perfecto y si lo detallan más quedaría fiiiinoooo! 😮😊😊😊
Great job!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Incredible job. 👍
Thank you!
incredible work!
Thanks a lot! Greetings :)

this is great job
Very Flinstones looking!

Me podrías pasar las medidas del día.etro y altura te falto sin duda son la mejores que e visto

Gracias, las medidas y materiales los puedes encontrar en la descripción del vídeo, saludos

Lovely stuff
why did you do a bigger hole and then did permanent adapters?
Well I wanted to show how to make them and I didn’t glue them so I can remove them if I need 👍🏼
10:45 YES PUT THE CABLE IN THE MIDDLE, MUCH BETTER :)
YES ITS HELPFUL THANK YOU :)
Thank you, I’m glad it helps :)

Que trampo pra fazer as formas! Baldes de plástico seriam mais práticos
You mix your concrete with too much water. The drier, the better, since the finished product will be stronger.
Thanks for clarifying that!
The optimal water-cement ratio is 0.4
No the optimal ratio is one that provides a slump consistent with thick clamps chowder
Thick clamps chowder, just like mom used to make
You can put detergent powder in the mixture if you want it to dry quicky but make sure don't put too much water in it.
Классно получилось

Or you could shop on Amazon or eBay 👍
