      100+ years ago being this way was a standard for men. I know nothing about this guy, just happened upon this video, but he probably had a dad that made him help with all his projects and tasks. Teaching kids how to and including them in your work at a young age creates resourceful problem solving people. You don't have to teach them each individual thing, just the process of learning, doing and succeeding.

      @@ЕгорБиркин-у7д Are you kidding? Those are over engineered as far as dumbbells go. You might, and I mean might, be correct on comfort as the grips have no knurling or curves to aid grip, but as far as safety goes, these are far safer than the majority of commercial dumb bells. Just inspect the welds on any out there (you might have to cut rubber away) and you'll see that Rainfall Projects is clean while that commercial one has crap welds.

      not to be "that guy" but factories and small shops have hundreds of millions of engineers and skilled workers that have been doing this every single day for the last 2 centuries.
      so we already know how important they are and we're already using them to help humanity and they're not really that scarce.
      so if something catastrophic happens and 90% of humanity are gone we would still have tens of millions of engineers/doctors/wokers/physicists etc. so nothing much would really change, same boring unjust ol' earth but on a smaller scale.

  • @timderks5960
    @timderks5960 3 роки тому +61

    I'd highly recommend adding some diagonal bracing on the dumbbell stand. There's some clear side to side movement at around 22:04, and that's with the rack not fully loaded yet, and just a light force hitting it in the most optimal direction. I fear that if you accidentally walk into it from the side with some force, it'll just bend the legs or snap the welds and come crashing down. It's not that I don't trust your welding skills, it's just a lot of weight, which can exert a lot of force. Front to back it's absolutely fine, side to side is a bit iffy.
    Other than that: A seriously impressive build. I first thought you were joking when you said the weights were getting powdercoated, but I get why you did it. The end result is amazing.

    • @rainfallprojects501
      @rainfallprojects501  3 роки тому +80

      I had the same concerns, and was ready to add cross bracing when I was building it. In that shot when it's moving, there were only 2 legs on the ground because the angle came with a slight radius to it. With the weights on the rack and all five feet on the ground, i couldn't budge it. But I totally agree, I had the same "folding" concerns initially when I started.
