    I live in the south and I just did this today on my 07. Mine was very clean, no rust, but none of the bolts came off as easy as this video shows. It's like they were pre broken before he shot the video. You are not going to take those 22mm off that easily, no friggin way!. I soaked everything with penetrating oil first. For the 22mm on the front right, I had to use a ball ping hammer to loosen it as I could hit downward on my 1/2 drive handle. On the driver side, I had to hit upwards because everything is opposite than the passenger side, not going to happen, so I used a bottle jack under the drive, bingo. For the axle nut I put plenty of penetrating oil and let it sit over night, no go. I then heated the bolt with a bottle torch and rubbed a wax candle on the threads by the nut which sucked it into the threads and it came of easy.

    Shouldn't you take out the abs sensor and make sure the slot in the hub matches up with the hole for the sensor?

    • @JoseSanchez-ln2jx
      @JoseSanchez-ln2jx Рік тому +6

      Yes you have to remove the ABS sensor before you pull the hub bearing otherwise you'll ending damaging the sensor and the light will come on your dash.

    Thanx 4 the video. After completing this job on my wife's 2010 sentra I made the following observations: It's a lot easier to remove the cotter pin and nut while the vehicle is on the ground. Also, u may want to order the appropriate ABS sensor ahead of time. The hub won't come out with the sensor in the way. After 115k miles, I needed to drill the old one out.

    Just a heads up guys... If you think for one second you can break those 4 back of the hub 22mm wheel bearing bolts without air tools or a strong cordless impact, then you're nuts. lol I learned this the hard way this last weekend. Even with penetrator fluid and a breaker bar they wouldnt budge. Especially if the bolts have never come off before and if your car is on the ground with a jack stand and not up on a lift to where you can get under the bolt, you just wont be able to build enough torque with out stretched arms, even with a bar, in the small wheel well. So dont waste the time trying with a breaker bar, go get the right tool otherwise you'll end up putting everything back on and ordering the tool you need anyways all pissed off lol

    Take the axle nut off before jacking the car up. Use the weight of car plus the parking brake to stop it from turning.

    FYI you don't have to remove the ABS sensor. Mine was rusted stuck AND the bolt head snapped. If you are up north just leave it alone. I worked around it. Carefully shock hub loose with 3lb sledge. Tap hub out from side opposite sensor first. Keep an eye on the sensor during tapping and removal. Just have to make sure you don't bump it, but there is a little clearance. Install it same way, angle it in first while watch sensor for clearance, once it's in line the bolts up and go

      @Ken-1 3 місяці тому

      Even better if the sensor area cage stays stuck in the knuckle. Then you can just remove the cage from back of new bearing and install like normal, no fuss.

    Nice job! Other videos have you removing the steering knuckle which means removing ball joint, strut and tie rods. Maybe it's year dependant, not sure.
    There should also be a clip behind the brake pads too. Noticed there weren't any on this car.

    • @robertg6425
      @robertg6425 Рік тому

      Some models have pressed in bearing which is why you have to pull the entire knuckle

    What can I do when my rotor is stuck to the wheel hub?
    I’ve tried hammering with a Rubber mallet because I didn’t want to damage the Rotor

      Nic , you can drill next to logs and put screw on it to push it away

    • @robertg6425

      Air hammer works wonders otherwise use a bigger hammer and hit it with another hammer to space you off and away from the studs

  • @timothyoneill3154

    Instructional video but far from real world situation. The wheel hub that you removed was not on the vehicle for very long. You installed the same hub as the replacement. Watch Eric O from South Main Auto if you want to see what it takes to remove a hub from a northeastern vehicle. A couple hammer taps isn't going to get it done.

    Why wouldn't you just put the car into first gear so the axle doesn't turn? I'm assuming this is an automatic... in which case, what is the best option?

    • @unitedstatian
      @unitedstatian 11 місяців тому

      I always loosen the axle nut while the car is on the ground and then take it off once the car is put on a stand. It makes it far, far safer to take it loose as you aren't jerking and yanking and fighting with it while it is on stands or lifted in the air.
