I feel like a lot of the people here making fun of the truck are just jealous that now non experienced drivers can easily do what they do without even stepping on the petal
Really enjoyed all 3 reviews. Big fan of TFL and expedition Overland (XO) so made for a good watch review. Was not a big Toyota truck fan until started researching after watching XO Mackenzie trip. Dependability and global availability is top notch. Cannot go wrong with Ford, Chevy or Toyota with all having great vehicles today. Comes down to personal preference. Keep the real world reviews coming:)
A lot of people ask why the hood scoop is not functional. It's because it CAN'T be. In new trucks air control is everything. That's why there is a rubber seal along the hood. If the hood scoop was real the air would flow in and cause problems with the motor and air flow. Yes, it would make the motor run poorly. I asked a big wig from the Tacoma plant and he explained it to me.
He always shits on the crawl control and the trd Pro features that do it for you and says he likes doing it himself cause it’s more fun. I’m sure everyone would agree with it BUT when you are in a remote place and get stuck and there’s no one to pull you out, the crawl control and the trd features is a great tool to have just in case. It does get you out of some sticky situations and it’s just nice to have in case. Not everyone uses it just “for fun” with cameras and a crew everywhere you go like he does. Obviously you should never go off roading somewhere on serious trails by yourself but even if your not trying to off road sometimes you can get stuck trying to get somewhere and it really does work like a charm.
Since the "desert air intake" is already installed, will it be easier now more than ever to covert it to a snorkel? What if you want to add fording depth? is there no manual fan turn off switch?
Why in the world will Toyota not put power seats in these?? Some adjusting is needed. The prices keep going up and they do not address one major complaint- seat comfort. Seems to me that should be a priority?
s 9 its the height adjustments /lower leg support on long trips that ought to be standard on the ‘best selling midsize”....!!!....practically every review (for years) and downvotes mention this. Toyota must have secret medical reasons why they keep comfort from us 😂
FYI kind of sounded like you made the truck seem wider than normal tacoma. ""The Tacoma TRD Pro features 16-inch black alloy wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar Off-Road tires, resulting in a 1-inch wider track than other Tacomas. ""
Does crawl control damage the vehicle ? I know that chattering sound is from the truck using its breaks but does it effect the break system or something ?
Making the Sun Roof standard is a mistake. A lot of people don't want it including me. If you do not have a garage to park in you will have the sun baking all the rubber parts in the sunroof and causing it to leak sooner. And it WILL leak. They all do. The other thing is storms. You have to worry about a hail storm cracking the sunroof. I know it happens because it did it to mine when I was at work years ago. I was playing pool with a lady at the Toyota dealer and she was having her sunroof repaired. Her bill was $1,975. Why? Because sunroofs are not that common and parts are not easy to come by. It also caused some staining of her roof upholstery, but she just let that go. I know some people wanna argue about this but when off-roading hitting bumps, twisting this way and that it will put extra stress on and make your sunroof leak sooner. That and push button start should be an option.
Most of you commenting know nothing about off-roading or Toyota. Ignorance may be bliss but it’s also annoying as hell! Go job TFL. EXCELLENT DISPLAY TOYOTA.
I really do like the Taco and I see a lot of them here in Idaho but still no diesel and still no front locking diff. They seem to rely hevily on the computer and that is a little scary if you are out in the middle of no where all the time.
What is the fording depth for the 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Also which truck has the bets fording depth, because I live in Texas and we have floods very often.
One of the things that drives my OCD nuts is the fact that the Tundra and 4Runner Pro use two different color combinations on the interior. I like the dark colors used on everything from the floorboard to the dash but then it all changes to tan from the door pillars up. I don’t understand why they all don’t just use the darker colors all around like on the Taco Pro
I’ve had a trd off road (18) and now have a ZR2 (19). The zr2 is a nice truck and I know you guys are kinda pro zr2 because of the front locker but I’ll be going to a Toyota TRD Pro in 2020.
I am cross shopping those 2 models. Your reasons for going back? I test drove both and the ZR2 just has that poor U.S car maker interior.. Although it does have Apple Car Play.. I would really like a 6.2 Raptor, but cant justify the price without a warranty and Ford reliability..
Roman has “more balls than brains?” I’m sure he’s smart enough about things other than four-wheeling. Can’t say his off-road driving vids reek of raw courage and reckless abandon either though. More of a deliberate newb, which is totally fine as long as we’re honest with ourselves and others. This trip with XO and with Jeep on the Rubicon are the first videos where they’ve actually done serious wheeling.
I’m 6’7” and I wanted a Tacoma sooo bad but I was way too tall to get one. My knees couldn’t really fit under the steering wheel. I ended up getting a 2007 FJ so I ended up happy lol
I'm sure you only use it when you need it, but the way you assemble the video clips makes it seem like you lock the rear diff and leave it the whole time.
The not a snorkel is 98% gimmick but the mall crawler lift kit big tire fan boys will eat it right up. Expect to see the not a snorkel on every lifted SR, SR5, Sport and Off Road in town.
Haha! No doubt. If a taco gets a decent lift with bigger rubber it shouldn't stand out as much. But then you bought some fancy Fox paper weights. Its all kool-aid.. Front locker > desert air ram horn thing
The problem with just lifting the truck and installing bigger tires is is that the differentials on the Tacoma become a problem. The factory rear diff is a very weak high pinion setup and the ring and pinion are skinny, made in Thailand parts. They won't last long with huge tires. The front differential has the same vibration issues that plagued lifted 2nd gen trucks. The axle shaft has too much play at the differential and induces vibration when the CV shaft is angled downward, such as when a lift kit is installed). The upper control arms, scrawny steering knuckle, and lower control arms should be upgraded as well. Replacing the upper control arms with parts modified for the angle change, replace the frail steering knuckle with a fully welded heavy duty knuckle, gusset the lower control arms to reinforce the area near the lower ball joint, gusset the control arm mounts & alignment cam tabs, etc.
Taco pro needs new engine, diesel or gas turbo possibly, full LED lights, automatic bed gate locker, standard remote start, and KO2s as stock tires. Then I would consider paying 45-46k sticker price.
Love it! Thinking of getting a 2019. Bought my 1996 T100 new and it has lots of head and leg room. It’s been a great 4 wheeler! Wife hit a deer with it last week and am waiting on insurance company decision on whether or not it’s a total. Trying to decide which Taco model I like. For colors I like Quicksand and Cavalry Blue.
Crawl control is a neat aid, but I wish these Toyota reviews would focus less on that particular aid (which is nice to have but most owners don't actually use it all that often) and more on the trucks dynamics. I realize Toyota wants to show it off to journalists but a feel like an inordinate amount of time is given to it in any TRD pro review. Also common in reviews is people misunderstanding how KDSS works. This was pretty well balanced since you actually got to spend more than an afternoon with it off road.
The Tacoma is designed to run somewhere around 25 degrees cooler than the competition. The air flow is perfectly controlled. It passes only by radiator and flows out. It's a tight smooth air flow. That why you see rubber seals even around the hood to keep air out. If they opened the hood scoop it would destabilize air flow and cause the truck to run hotter than they designed it to. Its just one of the many reasons these motors run so long and so well. They have come a long way when they give a 200,000 mile warranty on the motor and transmission.
I rather buy a Basic 4 x 4 Tacoma and build it up myself for a lot less money and a lot more better product. You can always install a front air Locker with air compressor and have onboard air too! Do the research and homework I TDR pro you're just paying for the trim package. The skid plate is cheap and flimsy to it just has TRD on it big deal. Even the desert air intake (snorkel) is not the better one that rotates on top and pushes most of the dust out so it doesn't go into the filter. But still a nice truck if you have money to piss away. 😉
The Fast Lane Truck The frontier won't have alot of things that taco will have, but you can install a better suspension and still come out way below the asking price of a TRD pro taco
I have a 2015 TRD Pro i did some changes to mine to i put 3 inch lift on mine and mud and snow tires and rock sliders light bar and brush Guide on it to
Well it looks nice, But it doesn't have the Achates engine. It's a shame that we have trucks that can't get the good gas mileage like 28-30 mpg not towing or hauling. Well Ill wait for the new engines with that good reliability since WW2, opposed piston is the way engines should have went a long time ago. If it never gets opposed piston engine, sorry to say they'd loose a potential customer.

The Fast Lane Truck waiting for that Tundra video to hit! Super excited!
That makes sense. Wondered why I had seen this already!
The Fast Lane Truck we don't mind ;)
Love seeing the guys from expedition overland. Great channel, those guys know their stuff. Clay and Kurt living the dream
I love the expedition overland guys, their expeditions through South America was awesome!
Keep up the good videos guys and trail on👍🏾
I feel like a lot of the people here making fun of the truck are just jealous that now non experienced drivers can easily do what they do without even stepping on the petal
Toyota all the way, will never own anything else.
Dont kid yourself people. 99% of you wont ever be somewhere that requires a front locker.
True. The other TRD models would be ok with just a rear locker but the Pro should have a front locker for those of us crazies who would use it.
@@justjeepin
The crazies dont buy 50k trucks and then add 10k worth of mods. They buy a 5k truck and add 10k worth of mods.
99% of these guys would snap cv's with a front locker

Can't wait for that Tundra video. As always great job boys!

I love you guys, one of the best. I hope you get more than a million soon!
The blue Tacoma in the video is a 2018 Cavalry Blue one. The best color imho.
Roman said the offset of the wheels make it wider? Hmmm..Sure it's not longer control arms? I'm not a Toyota guy. Does anyone know?
A lot of people ask why the hood scoop is not functional. It's because it CAN'T be. In new trucks air control is everything. That's why there is a rubber seal along the hood. Love it. My new favorite car/truck channel. Thanks!
I love my 2017 Tacoma seating position. It was one of the reasons I bought the truck.
LSanti i love mine but im only 5’5
Nice place for Hiking mountain bike and chill time and of course Mexican Gatorades beer
Love expedition overland, nice you guys joined them
awesome video, love what you guys do at TFLTruck! from a Canadian subscriber! ROCK ON!
Excellent! Worth the wait!
Since the "desert air intake" is already installed, will it be easier now more than ever to covert it to a snorkel? What if you want to add fording depth? is there no manual fan turn off switch?
really enjoyed this ... admittedly I'm a huge fan of the Toyota Taco ... its got great looks, reliability, performance and just a great mountain goat
Ahmed Adam toyota tacoma...no taco idiot
Why in the world will Toyota not put power seats in these?? Some adjusting is needed. The prices keep going up and they do not address one major complaint- seat comfort. Seems to me that should be a priority?
Power seats equal extra weight.
Hunter Tomlin I’d sacrifice it for adjustability/comfort on longer trips.!
power seats are slow! man up and pull the lever
s 9 its the height adjustments /lower leg support on long trips that ought to be standard on the ‘best selling midsize”....!!!....practically every review (for years) and downvotes mention this. Toyota must have secret medical reasons why they keep comfort from us 😂
oh, yeah i can see that... the up / down can be an issue...

Great video really looks fun hopefully ill get to experience overlanding one day.
Love the Cavalry Blue one!
What’s the difference between an air intake and a snorkel?
1:53 classic Toyota startup sound!
Another awesome video from TFL!
Awesome 👍 👍 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro review .
Oh boy, XO and TFL in one video... I'm like a kid in the candy store!
Wow, I didn't know you could accelerate through crawl control, I'll definitely be giving that a try. Thanks guys.
Does crawl control damage the vehicle ? I know that chattering sound is from the truck using its breaks but does it effect the break system or something ?

thats why Toyoya won't put a sunroof on the LC Prado.
I Love your UA-cam channel . Thank you also for putting the millage to Kilometers for us Canadians!
70 series lc comes with a snorkel option as well
John Davis yes I would like to see the fast lane truck travel to Australia and try the Land cruiser pick-up Hilux or patrols
Can someone please tell me what tents they are using at minute one 1:00
So the trd pro taco will have a sunroof in 2019 ????
Love seeing Clay on your video weigh in on the travel
Most of you commenting know nothing about off-roading or Toyota. Ignorance may be bliss but it’s also annoying as hell! Go job TFL. EXCELLENT DISPLAY TOYOTA.
But love the improvements to on the 2019 TRD PRO
Still no Apple CarPlay on the '19 Tacomas?
I didn’t know it had a F&R locker??? That’s cool!
Is the snorkel optional? Otherwise I love the truck, don’t like the snorkel.
I really do like the Taco and I see a lot of them here in Idaho but still no diesel and still no front locking diff. They seem to rely hevily on the computer and that is a little scary if you are out in the middle of no where all the time.

Tacomas are cool. But I am 5'9", and my sight line is at the roof line of the wind shield. Can I get a 3 inch roof lift?
I’ve had a trd off road (18) and now have a ZR2 (19). The zr2 is a nice truck and I know you guys are kinda pro zr2 because of the front locker but I’ll be going to a Toyota TRD Pro in 2020.

You will be glad to get the pro I have a 19 and it’s awesome. And 20 years from now it will still get me home after camping trip or mudd riding
How much of difference off road is there between the trd sport, the trd pro and the standard double cab model?
Ok, so tell us more about the Rimrocker Trail. I thought it went to Montrose, not Telluride. How long did it take you, exactly?
The pro Tacoma is the best because is sport truck and off road truck.. is like trd sport 4x4 and trd off road 4x4 with moon roof and leather seats!!!
I love how the lead truck is a 200 Series Land Cruiser. The REAL TRD Pro, doesn't need badges and decals.
Nice little truck but looks wise I like the ranger. Wish the Dakota would come back. As far as as off road Toyota and Jeep are amazing!
so that tundra went through all that without rear lockers...?
I love crawl control in reverse. So sick.
Here I thought KIA came up with "Telluride" outta buzz words 😅
Besides adding a snorkel, they also raised the breather valve intake right?
Roman has “more balls than brains?” I’m sure he’s smart enough about things other than four-wheeling. Can’t say his off-road driving vids reek of raw courage and reckless abandon either though. Kevin Bullock i wanted to be a few inches taller sooo bad too but hey at least i fit comfortably in my taco lol
Beautiful place for Hiking mountain bike chill time
What are the tents beside the Toyotas? They look cool
What brand of tents were you using? They look like the old style Boy Scout tents from many years ago.
Looks like it’s an Oztent RV-5
I'm sure you only use it when you need it, but the way you assemble the video clips makes it seem like you lock the rear diff and leave it the whole time.
Just cant get used to that "not a snorkel" on a stock truck.
The not a snorkel is 98% gimmick but the mall crawler lift kit big tire fan boys will eat it right up. Expect to see the not a snorkel on every lifted SR, SR5, Sport and Off Road in town.

@@hochhaul Yes, and it is still the most reliable vehicle on the market. Stop talking out of your ass.
Is this a collabo. with Expedition Overland? With Clay Croft and his crews? I love that show.
Oh. @1:19. i see one of the crews. I guess it was a collaboration.
Thanks for the canadian numbers ! Great editing too !
Taco pro needs new engine, diesel or gas turbo possibly, full LED lights, automatic bed gate locker, standard remote start, and KO2s as stock tires. Then I would consider paying 45-46k sticker price.
then it would be 58k
Did I understand correctly that a sunroof will be standard on the 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro? Why wasn't this one equipped?
William Gattmann i was thinking the same thing lol
Love it! Thinking of getting a 2019. Bought my 1996 T100 new and it has lots of head and leg room. It’s been a great 4 wheeler! Was that Cavalry Blue or was it the new FJ Cruiser blue for 2019? Great vid...Unreal scenery!
That was a 2018 Cavalry Blue Tacoma in the video.
But can you use a snorkel to go lower in water ?
How does the trd off road compare the pro?
less talk and more adventure and Taco shows
Sweet I know that dude overland I’ve watching his channel
How do you guys like the Oz Tents?

Patrick Rich I agree, especially since the truck would have made it thru everything in the video with open diffs
Clay from Expedition Overland
Good going Beary!!

Where is part 2 and 3????????????
There was no part two as the taco was totalled.
I don’t mean to be a bummer but didn’t you all discuss that material like this is going to be on your TFLOffroad channel?
Nope, off-road is powersports. Trucks stay on TFLtruck
Man these trucks are sweeet.
I would like to see the new TRD pro go up against the zr2 and pro4x. I think the tacoma trd pro is the most capable off road mid size pickup.
Competition? There are no competitions.
Did 2019 Trd Offroad get any improvements
If you're putting the frontier pro4-x in the same class then I give more kudos to nissan for making their rig $12k cheaper than the competition.
The Frontier does not have the upgraded suspension of this Taco
The Fast Lane Truck The frontier won't have alot of things that taco will have, but you can install a better suspension and still come out way below the asking price of a TRD pro taco
Kevin Schmitt
That what I did! I added a top level suspension upgrade and Still came out $12.5k cheaper than a TRDPRO.
Paid $28.7k for my Pro4x new
Pro 4x is epic off road
Nissan= Lost investment!
What kind of tents were those?
I have a 2015 TRD Pro i did some changes to mine to i put 3 inch lift on mine and mud and snow tires and rock sliders light bar and brush Guide on it to
Don Wilson did the lift affect your suspension. I was told a lift could not be put on.
What does the manual have over the auto? If the craw control is gone.
Kong Lee an extra pedal
Amazing view man.. ❤👍
Part of me wishes that Nissan would step up it's off-road game and the other half just wants better aftermarket support cuz it's more fun and can be cheaper to build on what they put out to be way better than the TRD's and still have more torque, better seats, and a "real" truck bed.
Awesome taco 👍👍

Why is four wheeling now called overlanding?
Appreciate the tall guy review ;)
What kind of ground tents are those?
Great question, because they look cool. Hopefully they’ll see your post.
