I drive a 2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with a 5 speed manual transmission, and I love it. Very reliable with over 205k miles on it. Good as a daily driver and very good in snow and other conditions, as well as off-roading almost anywhere you would like to.
4runners are built to last 10+ years....Land Cruisers are built to last 25 years...If you CAN afford, the LC is the best built, best per dollar, best horsepower per pound of weight of the two...However, this is like arguing one bottle of Pappy's vs 2 bottles...They are the two most durable off roaders available in the US today...Give me either one and I'm good to go.
I love my 2004 V8 4 Runner which has proved to be the most durable and reliable vehicle I have owned in my 60 years. The vehicle is a great compromise between a hard core off--road vehicle and a daily driver. I am in the market for a new SUV and have been somewhat disappointed in how long it takes Toyota to bring new generations (of all their vehicles) to market as of late. With the advent of new electronic safety technologies, multi-speed (and CVT, although not for the 4Runner!) transmissions, and other improvements - Toyota should not be waiting ten years between generations. I know they like to play it safe to maintain their (almost) bullet-proof reliability but they need to step up their development timelines in this day and age. Just my 2c.
Hell no CVT for me for a 4runner, it’s not designed for towing heavy equipment, It’s a suicide to make a towing truck with a CVT transmission, belt can’t handle pulling heavy objects. So you might wonder now that those who have big improvements from toyota are the smaller SUV and cars, because of this reasons CVT is only good for smaller vehicle and only limited to that category. If 4runner has CVT and I am pulling heavy objects then hell yeah bye bye 4runner for me!!! So it’s a misconception that Toyota is not doing anything, It’s just that theres has been no technologies out there that can be better than the one that they have right now. It’s as simple as that!!!
its a 5-speed because toyota wants to build a more reliable and durable transmission than doing the 6-10 speed transmission which is a complex transmission where things will go wrong during offroading. look at jeeps, they r crap now with their bad transmission
Glad that we have a 4runner SR5 and the salesman from Toyota told me damned you bought a 4runner, it’s going to take a while when you come again to buy a new truck because what you have right now will lasts for many years and I am not just talking about 10years ^_^. It will go beyond that...

I recently picked up a 2018 4runner trd off-road and I love it. My dealer told me there was a $9000 markup on the trd pro so in my opinion I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze for the pro. I think that I could outfit my off road with all the kit that makes the pro a pro probably for less than that markup. I mean come on that roof rack is a joke, snorkel is not necessary and I don't need pro badging. I'd rather put on the tires I want, the suspension that I prefer and armor up based on my level of off roading as well as a more functional roof rack. Just my thoughts but I'm still a fan of the pro I just think it's overpriced for what it is.
You can actually make a TRD Off Road BETTER than the Pro for less money, and still be able to have everything the Pro offers AND a sunroof (that you can't get with the Pro. The Pro is nice, but is overpriced and overrated in my humble opinion.
I agree you can do the pro with the off road plus more and make it much more capable with better bigger tires and other stuff but even though the pro is expensive, it’s good for people who just don’t wanna deal with those aftermarket upgrades and just have an off road ready machine straight out of the lot. People who don’t know much about what to get but still enjoy off roading and have the money to buy a pro it’s definitly a plus. I mean they are hard to get and marked up a lot because they are in high demand since Toyota doesn’t make tons of them compared to other trim levels. I still dig the pro and think it’s by far the best looking 4runner out of the dealership. Every time I see a pro on the road I smile and love looking at them even though I have a modded sr5. The only thing mine doesn’t have is the crawl control and multi terrain select and lockers but i have upgraded icon suspension, bfg KO2 285-70-17, 3 inch lift.
touge410 _ yeah can’t go wrong with the fj either. Same engine same platform basically same capability. It comes down to the space. Love the 4Runner TRD Pro! I know someone will probably leave an angry comment on this, but for the price point it needs updated to this decade. Many people trashed the JL about how luxurious it is and that it took away but people seem to be extremely pleased with it when the get it in and experience it. I think the same would happen with the 4Runner
Thanks Roman for this video of the 2019 4Runner TRD Pro. Seems the only 2 changes or options from last year to now are the sun roof that many have requested be available for it and the roof rack. Nice options. But I am glad I did not wait another 6 months to see if the 2019 was better in transmission updating. (Since they did nothing to enhance that)I have no complaints about my 2018 TRD Off Road. I have owned and driven a slew of 4x4 vehicles. All with the standard 4x4 systems. From standard heights to after market lift kits. Old school driving abilities equipped with the right tires, you can get to a lot of places. With that being said, this technology on these rigs makes me feel like I am in a tank!. (unstoppable) Which reality is, ultimately even a tank can get high centered and be left needing a winch or recovery vehicle. But for a civilian vehicle, this thing makes me feel unstoppable. I have done the sands, the hills, the variable terrain obstacles and this thing just deals it all out like one is on paved roads. Incredible. What is extra nice is the ride quality while doing it. As many reviewers have reported, you can go all day long in this thing and not get beat up doing very technical stuff. Long road hauls to get to your destination and technical work when you get there, this thing fits the bill. Toyota, IF there was 1 major thing I might request, it is like many others, update your transmission. It is bullet proof. But I know you can enhance it to include a couple more gears. However, since this rig is so solid, I won't be making a change for about 10 years or so I suspect. So you got some time to make the improvement in that area. New buyers would appreciate it though. :) Oh and 1 more thing, a front bumper camera would be an ideal option. Some of us do not have spotters handy when we crest hills or even just park up close and personal to things. Would be nice to see what is directly in front of you when creeping up to it. And that's my nickels worth of comments. Peace out.
Lol some of this overlanding gear and rigs cost more than my house. It’s insane how much this stuff costs, especially the super fancy stuff and suped up rigs you see online.
@@sunnyvalejedi Traditionally there is a big difference between the two though in NA the lines have blurred. Overlanders in the rest of the world spend weeks if not months traveling and living out of their rigs and religiously avoid camp grounds and popular tourist locations or roads for that matter.
@@overlandinusa1517 Sure, although if we put a GPS on most rigs I'll bet 95% of 'overlanders' are never further than 20kms from pavement. Like most, I think there's a romantic notion of off-grid travel that rarely accomplished in reality.
My 2009 jeep has the 3.7l v6 and I have 467k on it. Only thing that went bad so far is the expensive as he'll ac condenser and the AC evaporator is leaking. Oh and I have all origional parts from the factory...only thing I had to replace was water pump...damn pulley was wobbling lol. Other than the water pump and AC condenser+ evap nothing is changed. Everything important works. No check engine lights. Not even a drop of oil leaking. Maybe I just got lucky? But I drive it through rivers, flood waters, mud, rocks, jumped the Damn thing. Towed 10000lb loaded trailer over 70 acres of uneven dirt roads when my kubota broke down...i love my nellybell 4ever and always. But the this 4runner is nice too 😁
my 5th gen was fantastic stock. As soon as you go into wanting larger tires for ground clearance, that's where the Wrangler pulls ahead. To get fully articulating 33's on the 4R requires a good bit. My JL, just put them on. Want 35? Oh just do a 2-2.5" lift, good to go. Want 35" on the 4R? Good luck. Loved my 4R but fell in love with how at home the Wrangler is with being modified and used offroad. It's just so easy. I used to hate on Jeeps being a lifelong Toyota owner. I had problems with both and just ENJOY my Jeep more.
Roman!! you are sooo correct!!!! Body on frame is the way to go for a Man who wants a Mantruck!!! That is why I have been desperately holding on to my 2004 Cadillac EXT truck and my 2007 Chevy Blazer, oops, i mean Tahoe, lol... But now you got me thinking that I need to trade the old Tahoe in on a 4 Runner!!! hmm,,, very effective video sir!!!!.
its a 5-speed because toyota wants to build a more reliable and durable transmission than doing the 6-10 speed transmission which is a complex transmission where things will go wrong during offroading.
He said it right here! Looks like Toyota needs to make a truck that is inspired from the 4Runner! A Toyota midsize truck! I also think the Tacoma can be slightly too small at times.
Dude, the roof rack! Come on! The pure engineering genius that went into those leftover FJ Cruiser roof racks is mind boggling. Toyota really went all out. Not to mention the left over FJ Cruiser Voodoo Blue that they're slapping on these, for all those people who like hearing the, "Wow, that's really, uh, blue!" comments every other day.
I like the 4Runner the most. And honestly, it is the only Toyota I like, much less would consider buying. However, Toyota really needs to update this thing. That 4.0L V6 and 5 speed auto are ancient. My 04' ranger has that same type of setup. Plus Toyota needs to update the interior. Oh, and they need to get with it and put in a new infotainment system. That thing they have in there is ancient. But the bones of the 4Runner are great. One of the last real body on frame SUV's in a nice size, that isn't Suburban/Expedition stupid size.
Why change anything when it works flawlessly. Look at the Tacoma, they did what people wanted and the tranny is horrible and the motor sucks. The 4.0L has great down low torque, more gears do not benefit that fact and only add more moving parts, AKA shit to break. People that want all the electrical shit found on your typical German sedan should go buy something else. If you want something that's more basic and won't fall apart in 5 years, buy a 4Runner. My biggest complaint with my 18' TRD Off-Road is the gas peddle to throttle body manipulation. People should not have to buy a Peddle Commander to resolve this computer manipulation in the name of economy. Do that has only made the nearly 300hp feel more like 200.
If you want a fancy SUV with a different engine and transmission then dont get a 4 runner. It's perfect as it is. It's basic for a reason. Get a Landcruiser or a Lexus if you want something fancy.
More efficient engine? You have some alien tech that we don't know about yet or you the guy that wants a Prius motor in his Tundra? Naturally aspirated cars have gained very little in mileage efficiency since port fuel injection became a thing. The only thing that's going to make leaps and bounds change is massive weight cut, much like Ford is doing with aluminum bodies and Chevy has done with the Vette. Embracing new technology that cuts weight in half and increases safety will be the biggest evolution outside of full on electric. I fully expect parts for all moving machines to be made from some type of carbon supermaterial like carbyne or graphene. Until then, can we just agree that Toyota needs to put a turbo on both the truck and 4R and we can be happy?
You are so off it's comical on everything. More HP equals more fuel economy, really? Same fuel economy and more horsepower is efficiency but I thought the argument was better tech for more MPG. More horsepower isn't going to push a brick through the air that weights 4700 lbs with any kind of "efficiency." If that was the case, the 6 second quarter mile cars running Hot Rod Drag Week with more than 3000 HP would be getting what, 100-200 MPG there smart guy?
I guess you could've started only with 2 wheels, then go to normal 4WD, then low, then locking. The road you started with didn't need anything. But that's what I think would show your viewers what the 4Runner can do. It's absolutely crazy, albeit its horrible MPG.
The Troop Carrier HZJ75RV that I drove in Africa was diesel and 5sp manual. It was rudimentary but it had A/C and a cassette stereo and went everywhere and back. Those and the diesel hilux are what will be fixable by the “guy in Chile” not any of these pimped out rigs sold nowhere but here. We had one of the “hilux land cruisers” in the fleet and by far it was the least capable or fun to drive.
Can't wait to buy one of these in a few years. Where I live (salt lake City Utah) these never get taken off road, just driven by middle aged women through drive throughs, it's going to be a great used purchase for me.
stick shift and enough head room so i could actually sit up in one and it might be decent. I'll still take the Morgan and the Mules, you see less people glamping. which is what most of us go camping for....... thanks Roman.
Now isn't this better than the bolt on jeep you continue to dump money on just to keep it working properly and running. Plus you get a beautiful safe interior. Not one panel fell apart or bent out of shape. There's a reason why I won two 4runners. Cause they work and do so relentlessly. The 5 speed is is great. Higher gear transmission on a SUV makes it feel like its constantly struggling to find the gear, constantly shifting
The quality and reliability of Toyota trucks it's amazing, but these trucks with the exception of the LC seem to struggle on rather easy obstacles without the assistance of the crawl control, and I get it they come with crappy tires from the factory but for 40K+ they should come better equipped, and Toyota please add the darn rear disc to the Tacoma!! It's 2018
I'd imagine they'd just use the 3.5 V6 and 6 speed auto from the Taco. That was new for '16, so that's probably as advanced as Toyota is going to get on the 4 Runner. Something like Jeep's new 2.0L Turbo 4cyl would be interesting.
I would bet that they're not putting anything out til 2021 or 2022.. and say this because they've already made an investment for the 2019. But who knows
sir_Xenon exactly last thing Toyota wants is to alienate there extremely loyal 4Runner customers. Given with the issues Tacoma is having with that 3.5L V6 right now there being extremely cautious about updating powertrains especially how proven and solid the 4.0 is
My daily driver in an 18 4Runner Off Road. Just shy in options of the Pro. If the 5.7 liter were an option, I would never consider switching to anything else!
It’s too bad GM decided to make the new Blazer a crossover and not a body on frame SUV - would have provided the opportunity for a Blazer ZR2 to compete with the 4-Runner TRD Pro. IMHO - if you’re looking for an overlanding SUV this is the ONLY choice. Land Rover is too unreliable (in the past) versus Toyota. The “Big 3” don’t make anything comparable. Jeep is nice but the Wrangler is not comfortable enough as a daily driver (and the Cherokee isn’t body on frame anymore). Missed opportunity GM.
I drive a 2018 jl wrangler unlimited rubicon everyday and it is very comfortable. You may want to look at the new model as the 4Runner cannot touch it the jl off-road. I owned 2004 4Runner, 99 Tacoma and and 2007 gx470 Lexus and was always a big Toyota fan
I hope toyota will never change whats under the hood. A little interior update would be nice. But dont put too much sensors. Or add a diesel turbo or a v8. WOuld be nice as well. Im about to get this badboy come 2020
You once measured the point at which the (lowest) tire lifted off the ground under an extreme ramp scenario, would love to see all three of those compared to each other. I don't know what the test was called but you hopefully may remember.
I enjoy your videos and this video was very timely as I am considering a 4-Runner. I was also noticing your outdoor camping equipment and like the looks of your folding camping chairs, who makes them and where can you get them? I am assuming that you liked them. Thank you for another great video! John
As soon as you have official news regarding Toyota's 2020 lineup you should post a video of it. I want 4runner but refuse to buy one until Toyota modernizes their drivetrain. Tacoma got some change but not enough.
Time for an all new 4runner. A five speed in 2019? Interior is showing it's age as well. Some irony in the talk about not necessarily needing a front diferential but then locking the rear for something a Subaru would get thru.
Kev B a Subaru would not get through that. The ground clearance alone. Overheated CVT. And so on. Having taking my Rubicon on this very trail, I would never touch it with a Subaru.
Kev B a crappy Subaru would never make it. The 4 runner is perfect as it is. Dont want to change it, making it unreliable like most of today's vehicles. A 5 speed transmission is bullet proof
The unibody holds the same concern for me as the IFS---when we see a unibody that can handle the off road the same as a ladder frame (when IFS is as good as a solid axle), then we can have the worthy debate over which to purchase. And no, arguing that you CAN have the same ability for MUCH more money is NOT a valid debate.
Are Toyota's really better though ? I would like to see someone tear down the components piece by piece that has an engineering back ground and compare them with domestic trucks
I really wanna see someone make a video comparing a 4.7 v8 T4R and SC'd 4.0 v6 T4R. (Both should be 4th gens and the v8 should be vvti) I wanna see see which is better on the highway, towing, city driving and of course various off road conditions and obstacles. Compare HP, TQ, MPG, weight, cost etc And a drag race for funzies! :)
The rav4 adventure over the 4Runner, Tacoma, or tundra because of it’s technology and fuel economy of eco mode to save fuel on a road trip unlike any other, and interior design, and the gauge cluster display because it tells you when you’re loosing traction and how much torque is being in the wheels and wheel spin, and it’s much easier to read in the adventure like mud and sand, rock and dirt unlike the 4Runner or Tacoma or tundra,
Ah man, you're gonna stalk her aren't you? Hiding out with binoculars at your local Toyota dealer; keeping tabs every time she goes on a test drive; Oh well, guess I'll be seeing you on the ID channel in a year or so...
The Pro has upgraded shocks. For our use we went with the TRD Offroad with Kdss. The features of the Pro would be rarely used. The Kdss we use daily. Sunroofs does eliminate 2 - 3 inches of headroom. The 5spd transmission is very reliable. Will be sad when it goes away. People want a new super speed transmission with blah blah blah electronic ice cream server and 40mpg engine. You don't. TFL raced an old Tacoma vs New engine Tacoma. It was a draw.
I dont buy that from what other reviwers have said. I like my 4.0 L power plant in my Taco. Id probably beat the newer model if it has 4wd because of the extra weight of the transfer case, etc
Word to the wise when editing....turn music volume down when other audios have to be turned up in order to hear! Couldn't watch entire video because of this constant blaring out my ears every time you switch scenes. Thanks!
The PRO is overhyped and overpriced IMO. It doesn't have KDSS which is standard on Land Cruisers and Lexus GX as well as an option on TRD Off-Road 4Runners. You're basically paying a lot for TRD badging, those boring wheels (that everyone has) mediocre Nitto ATs and the 1" Fox suspension. TRDORP FTW

What makes you think that the so-called "rich" people are pretending to be "homeless"?
But the this 4runner is nice too 😁
Thanks for putting together another great review! You guys work hard
Love my runner but the pro is more hype than anything. There wasn’t any terrain in this video a SR5 with proper AT’s couldn’t handle.
my 5th gen was fantastic stock.
Those Cadillacs are well known for their manliness. You can leave the spa with your chest out and head held high.
its a 5-speed because toyota wants to build a more reliable and durable transmission than doing the 6-10 speed transmission which is a complex transmission where things will go wrong during offroading.
He said it right here! Looks like Toyota needs to make a truck that is inspired from the 4Runner! A Toyota midsize truck! I also think the Tacoma can be slightly too small at times.
So they just changed almost nothing … but its still a nice truck
Dude, the roof rack! Come on! The pure engineering genius that went into those leftover FJ Cruiser roof racks is mind boggling. Toyota really went all out. Not to mention the left over FJ Cruiser Voodoo Blue that they're slapping on these, for all those people who like hearing the, "Wow, that's really, uh, blue!" comments every other day.
That's Toyota for ya. And no offense to anyone, but that blue is gawd awful ugly.
I'm happy they aren't changing much
I'm going crazy with comments. Body on frame is like the only way to go. We've already broken in half... in half! two Cherokees. Never again a Jeep.
Carlos Martinez agreed seen Jeep Cherokees just flex and snap on relatively easy terrain. And the actual jeeps are not universal at all
Just got a 1990 4Runner! It's tough as nails. And it's basically brand new at 100,000 miles!
haha Jeeps suck ass, Ive seen a few videos of them just breaking in mud.
The factory installed roof rack is new for 2019. Not on any of the previous TRD Pro 4Runner's.
More horsepower isn't going to push a brick through the air that weights 4700 lbs with any kind of "efficiency." If that was the case, the 6 second quarter mile cars running Hot Rod Drag Week with more than 3000 HP would be getting what, 100-200 MPG there smart guy?
the 4.0 is a much more reliable engine compared to the 3.5. They do need to get rid of the fan clutch. I do agree on the transmission, thou.
Love the POV cam!
Just got a TRD off road. Best. Truck.
I guess you could've started only with 2 wheels, then go to normal 4WD, then low, then locking. The road you started with didn't need anything. But that's what I think would show your viewers what the 4Runner can do. It's absolutely crazy, albeit its horrible MPG.
to bad diesel engine isn't available. I guess VW Group killed the interest for manufacturers to embrace offering diesels any time soon.
Toyota has a diesel pickup in almost every country but America. If they offered it here, they wouldn't be able to make enough of them.
Ram brought back the eco diesel
The Troop Carrier HZJ75RV that I drove in Africa was diesel and 5sp manual. It was rudimentary but it had A/C and a cassette stereo and went everywhere and back. Those and the diesel hilux are what will be fixable by the “guy in Chile” not any of these pimped out rigs sold nowhere but here. We had one of the “hilux land cruisers” in the fleet and by far it was the least capable or fun to drive.
Just diesel swap it with a Cummins problem solved
The 6th gen 2020 4 runner *might* come out with a diesel option. Keep your eyes and ears pealed!
Can't wait to buy one of these in a few years. Where I live (salt lake City Utah) these never get taken off road, just driven by middle aged women through drive throughs, it's going to be a great used purchase for me.
All you have to do is clean the any stains from spilt Starbucks, remove the stick figure family stickers, and you are good to go.
@@Ryno-fp7pm don tforget to remove the soccer balls from the rear ;)
Love my 2012 Sr5. Almost 100k miles and going strong! I do however have my eye on an new LC in the near future. 🙏🏾
stick shift and enough head room so i could actually sit up in one and it might be decent. I'll still take the Morgan and the Mules, you see less people glamping. which is what most of us go camping for....... thanks Roman.
That crawl control is a crazy legit system wow... I would be afraid it can make me too soft
This is the best product Toyota makes and the only one I would buy. Tacoma is good but I need a HD and the Tundra is just not enough
Save the best for last!
It's 2018
Let’s see what Toyota has for the 6th gen 4runner that’s coming out in 2020. I hope they revise 4.0L v6 and add on a better 6 speed transmission.
I'd imagine they'd just use the 3.5 V6 and 6 speed auto from the Taco. That was new for '16, so that's probably as advanced as Toyota is going to get on the 4 Runner. Something like Jeep's new 2.0L Turbo 4cyl would be interesting.
Michael Smith they better not that motor is having issues left and right on the Tacomas
I would bet that they're not putting anything out til 2021 or 2022.. and say this because they've already made an investment for the 2019. But who knows
sir_Xenon exactly last thing Toyota wants is to alienate there extremely loyal 4Runner customers. Given with the issues Tacoma is having with that 3.5L V6 right now there being extremely cautious about updating powertrains especially how proven and solid the 4.0 is
Michael Smith what’s happening on the 3.5?
My daily driver in an 18 4Runner Off Road. Just shy in options of the Pro. If the 5.7 liter were an option, I would never consider switching to anything else!
FJ cruiser roof rack is BACK!
Was looking at the JL Wrangler for next year but these are looking really nice.
Did Toyota represent to you that the 2019 TRD Pro will have a sunroof option?
If I had to buy a TRD Pro I would buy this. It's a great all around vehicle. I would probably add an aftermarket exhaust to make it sound better.
What cameras are you using to make this video?
It’s too bad GM decided to make the new Blazer a crossover and not a body on frame SUV - would have provided the opportunity for a Blazer ZR2 to compete with the 4-Runner TRD Pro.
IMHO - if you’re looking for an overlanding SUV this is the ONLY choice. Land Rover is too unreliable (in the past) versus Toyota. The “Big 3” don’t make anything comparable. Jeep is nice but the Wrangler is not comfortable enough as a daily driver (and the Cherokee isn’t body on frame anymore). Missed opportunity GM.
zamboni68 w
Agreed! Americans are just loving crossovers instead of traditional SUVs. You see why I despise crossovers and I will always despise them.
The bronco is coming from Ford gm has to respond
That’s what I’ve been saying
What kind of tires are you using ?
Nice review! Love a 4RTRDP
Honda really needs to get in on this off-roader shit mang i would really like to see more vids like this from tfl tho
I hope toyota will never change whats under the hood. A little interior update would be nice. But dont put too much sensors. Or add a diesel turbo or a v8. WOuld be nice as well. Im about to get this badboy come 2020
we've been holding our breaths about Diesel in Toyota Tundra.
You once measured the point at which the (lowest) tire lifted off the ground under an extreme ramp scenario, would love to see all three of those compared to each other. I don't know what the test was called but you hopefully may remember.
04:01 Roman, my god has your style changed.
I enjoy your videos and this video was very timely as I am considering a 4-Runner. I was also noticing your outdoor camping equipment and like the looks of your folding camping chairs, who makes them and where can you get them? I am assuming that you liked them. Thank you for another great video! John
So which would you choose between the 3.
As soon as you have official news regarding Toyota's 2020 lineup you should post a video of it. I want 4runner but refuse to buy one until Toyota modernizes their drivetrain. Tacoma got some change but not enough.
Why does Toyota put different brand tires on all the pro models? Why not stick with nitto or bfg ko2 etc... for the whole lineup.
Did you have any steering wheel shake on your 4 runner? I have a new one that has this issue. Thank you
Time for an all new 4runner. A five speed in 2019? Interior is showing it's age as well. Some irony in the talk about not necessarily needing a front diferential but then locking the rear for something a Subaru would get thru.
Kev B a Subaru would not get through that. The ground clearance alone. Overheated CVT. And so on. Having taking my Rubicon on this very trail, I would never touch it with a Subaru.
the cynics all have the same "(insert crossover) can get through that." it's helps to validate their argument or bias. shit is hilarious.
j burggg not even a cynic tho, a rear locker wasn't necessary
Chase Short speaking to the specific demonstration bit
Kev B a crappy Subaru would never make it. The 4 runner is perfect as it is. Dont want to change it, making it unreliable like most of today's vehicles. A 5 speed transmission is bullet proof
Roman, did they tell you the weight capacity of that left over FJC rack? I think the one on the FJC was something like 165 lbs.
love this new trucks from toyota! the best
What are some of your real time mpg?
A drone, a 6,000lb (with steel refrigerator) steel box with steel equipment = overload.
Those Toyota’s must be smelling ripe by the end of that trip 👃😬
Romans outfit is on point for over-landing
well, Toyota's most affordable off roading wagon at any rate.
Good stuff. 👍
Roman used the word "overloading" a few times. Why didn't you say "off roading"?
.
Are Toyota's really better though ? I would like to see someone tear down the components piece by piece that has an engineering back ground and compare them with domestic trucks
In Australia Toyota offers a second fuel tank on this chassis.
So cool this one. One of few.
Compare HP, TQ, MPG, weight, cost etc
And a drag race for funzies! :)
Anyone know what brand or kind of tents were those at 0:15 ?
F A The tents appear to be OZ tents
if you want to see what a 4Runner TRD Pro can do on the sand, check out the videos on my channel!
Only If these came with a manual. They can do away with crawl control and substitute it for a front locker instead...
Where's part 1?
The rav4 adventure over the 4Runner, Tacoma, or tundra because of it’s technology and fuel economy of eco mode to save fuel on a road trip unlike any other, and interior design, and the gauge cluster display because it tells you when you’re loosing traction and how much torque is being in the wheels and wheel spin, and it’s much easier to read in the adventure like mud and sand, rock and dirt unlike the 4Runner or Tacoma or tundra,
I can’t wait to have you. 🤗
Ah man, you're gonna stalk her aren't you? Hiding out with binoculars at your local Toyota dealer; keeping tabs every time she goes on a test drive; Oh well, guess I'll be seeing you on the ID channel in a year or so...
KONA VS OTHER CUVs (toyota & Honda & renegade?)
good gosh! the pixle on that tiny screen in the middle must be from the original nintendo!
Best part about a wrangler is taking off the roof and doors.
Does the pro-4x 4runner have 7 seats
Spencer Young typically only the SR5 and Limited have optional 3rd row seating. The Offroad (Trail) and Pro typically only have two rows of seating.
wcjeep thanks nice to know
On that dirt road you can take it out of 4WD ( don’t need it ) and double you mpg
Camping seems fun when you buy everything that makes you feel like you’re not camping 😒
5:10, a front camera will be good idea
Dumb Q: How do you fuel up on a trip like this??
You don’t need to lock the diff for everything
Word to the wise when editing....turn music volume down when other audios have to be turned up in order to hear! Couldn't watch entire video because of this constant blaring out my ears every time you switch scenes. Thanks!
I have a Tacoma and I'm from Chile!!🤣🤣🤣
10:52 there should have been a Toyota Sequoia

Sunroof?
there's no sunroof option for the TRD PRO in the United States. However, in Canada they can get a sunroof... for some odd reason.
Every questions was answered with great question lol
The PRO is overhyped and overpriced IMO. It doesn't have KDSS which is standard on Land Cruisers and Lexus GX as well as an option on TRD Off-Road 4Runners. You're basically paying a lot for TRD badging, those boring wheels (that everyone has) mediocre Nitto ATs and the 1" Fox suspension. TRDORP FTW
