This looks like a great quad, but you'd be surprised what you can do with your 5" freestyle quad. I recently did a 1.5 mile trip up a mountain and back with no gps, with a full GoPro and a 5s1800.
if anyones buys this quad, 3d print yourself a 20x20 or 30x30 crossfire diversity mount and and put that receiver on the rear stack. Rekon / HGLRC stop cutting corners!! NO ONE zip ties there $50 receivers to the top plate anymore.
I wonder if 7 inch are really suited for long range, I know you weren't pushing it but 2 miles doesn't sound too long range when my crappy 5 inch have done over 9 km
it can go way further.. carrying Hero 9 ive done 30mins flights.. and i could still put on a bigger battery.. was hovering at under 30% throttle. i do have a LR 5" I can easily do over 30mins with Go2. (did max 42mins no camera) Rekon7 I have done 40mins no camera round trip was over 25km (lost data) If you go bigger props and dont go crazy with weight you can do longer.
Lol I use the same road for my long range test. I just finished building my dc7 with fpv cycle 30mm motors. I get 5 mins of flight on 6s 1300mah with a hero 8. Great review drainman
I also run a DC7, flashed mine with Ardupilot for autonomous swiftness. I can get about 8-9 mins of aggressive flight with a 3000mah 6S, and ~15 mins with my homemade 6S 4200mAh 21700 pack. Bit heavy but it's a stiff as heck frame.
I wonder why the video range was so bad? Were you on 25 watts? I have been out six miles on a Rekon 5 inch with a Rush tank solo at 1.6 watts and still had a very flyable picture.
I was wondering the same. I just took my iFlight Titan H3 with DJI Air Unit 1 mile up a mountain (no GPS) 1300 mAh battery and long range antennas. Battery was limiting factor for me. Used 1w setting.
I’ll have to get one pretty soon. Still breaking in my 7” Chimera for now though. It’s one hell of a quad but I like to have an assortment of them anyways.

Man that’s a nice setup. Looks light too. I built a CL-1 XR dead cat 7” and it’s a freaking pig. Like 1300 grams with a hero 9 and 2200 5S. That’s what these setups should be all about lighter weight. Honestly I can’t really get efficient with 1300 grams😂😂great review and flight drainman

You do realize you have a bigger quad hanging on the wall behind you. Hate to burst your bubble but 1 mile is not a lot. I went a mile and a half yesterday with my 4 inch Explorer and I never lost video. "You" on the screen behind you waving your arms around wildly is distracting since you are doing it in the foreground as well. My 7 inch usually gets around 5 to 7 miles round trip with a 3000mah Liion 6s pack at around 20-25 minutes. You mid ranged it.

I just took my smol yeet 5 vista hd fettec 2004 6s motors with a 1150 feather weight lumineir 4s lipo , crossfire at 50hz 500mw , NO GPS , 18mph sw wind going 60mph about north at 25% throttle being it took 1min 7seconds to go 1.1 miles at about 400ft then at about 35 percent throttle on way back to go about 30mph and took 2min 12sec to get back to same point and was not on phone with anyone lol or making a big deal about a mile. SEND IT thats all. Oh it was my FIRST time going a mile too. if it dopped it drops in field f it.

I have the same vtx in 3 of my analog LR models. They do WAY more than a mile with very clear video quality. This must have been running 25mw.
I don't have a 7 inch, I never had a 7 inch...lmao
How far could you go if you went digital video?
Maybe on Caddx Vista and Polar camera you will have excellent video

Just built my 7" LR drone. I'm in the PID tuning stage now but I'm pretty impressed so far :-)
