I spent 45 minutes trying to find my Rekon 4 after I lost my video feed. Was flying over a recently mowed hay field, really short grass, and it was really hard to find. Don't blame you for not wanting to fly over the corn 1st time out.

@@densoroca5689 To be honest, I don't really have a strong argument. Both drones are pretty identical and the Rekon 7 has a good price as well. I think I got the Chimera with an extra of 30 $. At the time I made the purchase I was able to find a Chimera 7 " with a full Air unit and that was one of my must have. Second reason was that I already have an iFlight drone and I'm very happy with it, so I guess I stick with the brand.

Inst360 cameras are amazing , that thing can even show the full body of the very thing it sit's on and the Recon 7 pro , seems to fly very nice too Captain , nice one as usual Captain , take care .

You can shit off some battery powered beepers by quickly connecting and deconnecting the lipo when it starts beeping
Yes, but then when you remove the battery, it starts beeping again.
I can still hear the trilling sound after the prop change,but there's not a lot of 7 inch props and both that you tried are not my favorite, the only ones I found to work on my 7-in build are GF Cinelifter 7035, much lighter at 6.5 g and lower pitch and less propwash than the other 2.

Is the battery of 1800 mAh 6S on this Rekon is more powerful than the non polymer 2250 mAh battery of DJI mini 2?
And was the speed (110) in MPH or KPH, Steve?
dji mini 2 uses a 2 cell battery which is A LOT weaker than that of a 6s. Most likely the speed was mph since these would have no issues going that fast on a 6s or even 4s
What size Lipo did you fly this Rekon 7? It looks like a 6s GNB 130c with the silver and pink but what size mah is it? It looks massive like an 1800mah or something lol. Love your channel!
I usually fly 7" drones with 1800 mAh so that is probably what it was.

Hello Steve, if the Rekon 7 Pro just for expert flyers?
For a comparison, I have an Autel Evo II Pro 6k and my Training toy drone was the Hubsan H501SS.
Maybe any better suggestions?

Stan, if you are currently flying a CAMERA DRONE (i.e., the AUTEL EVO II) and you have never flown an FPV drone, then think of it this way. Flying a Camera Drone is like driving a Tesla car that has a self driving function... not much input from the driver. Driving an FPV drone would be like driving a racing motorcycle while looking through a small hole while driving on ice. So the bigger the FPV drone, the more dangerous it is. If you have no FPV experience, I'd suggest first starting off with a READY TO FLY FPV KIT, and when you can fly without crashing, then get yourself the 7" and fly it in a massively large field with no one around.

Well; my thoughts were to fly independent from using FPV goggles, actually watching the quad.
My very first quad was a Gaui 500 hex quad back in 2012 (no camera). I really would like to get a quad that isn't dependent on proprietary batteries, props etc.
It seems, these days if anyone wants a carbon (type) X quad, its always tied to the FPV hobby.
The DJI and Autel quads are nice, although I'm an old enjoy Flying hobby guy with experience in setting controller software.
To sum it up, I'm more about getting back into the hobby flying aspects although taking a glance of an FPV view and recording the flight is nice supplement to the hobby.
@@RedVote yup, there certainly is no age limit in the RC hobby and the FPV hobby is by far the most exhilarating. All us FPV guys started at level zero or had a tiny bit of previous experience when we began & with a bit of practice we could fly without crashing & then build on our skills. Big drones (like a 7” drone) takes more than beginner skill so perhaps start smaller and move your way up.

Try the GemFan 7042 Bi Blade props on that. Its the only props I use on my 7 inch. My go to rig for filming with Hero 8.

my rekon 7 just arrived. initial thoughts: I must say, the finder beeper is driving me crazy & i am unable to find the button to turn it off. Help!!
found it! for anyone else stuck at the same issue- you have to long press that freaking button for about 5 seconds to make it stop. Hope that helps someone.

Why can't I find out the full specs of this drone? I wanted to know how far long range is and how long the battery lasts, among other specs.
The specs would be on the REKONFPV website. Are you new to FPV? The reason I ask is because the range is up to the pilot. FPV drones are nothing like your beginner camera drones that you buy at Best Buy or DJI. If you want your FPV drone to go 15 miles, it is up to you to modify it for your purpose. Out of the box a DIGITAL FPV drone, using DJI FPV goggles and a cross fire transmitter will give you two miles without modifications.
The RTH arrow did not seem to point back to your location correctly, or am I crazy?
Yes and No. I was using an iNAV setup which if done correctly, requires a compass calibration prior to take off. I don't bother because I don't use all the INAV features.
Is the rekon better then the chimaera 7 and geprc crocodile 7? Ofc your thoughts matter when u fly so many different drones. Thx Steve for another gr8 review would be fun if you could review the Taurus x8 😊
I have the Crocodile 7 but not the Chimaera 7. The REKON 7 PRO has many more options than those other two. The GPS is a true iNAV GPS so you could almost use it like a DJI Camera Drone if you are so inclined.

U ever have problems connecting yours to betaflight? I only got my rekon 7 pro connected twice and didnt get everything set up and now it wont connect yet any other quadcopter will. So cant be the drivers. I noticed when i connect a lipo it dont beep loud its more quiet. Connector is not lose as it does sense the port it uses just keeps failing to connect. And it does fly fine but i have no switches or angle mode setup yet. I think i freaking hate Hglrc FC's now.
No issues on my end. I usually test out 50 or more FPV drones per year and all of them connect fine. If you are using a PC, Windows 10 & 11 can stop the connection for no reason. Also make certain you are using a quality USB because many USB plugs are for charging and not for passing data both ways.

What are the best transmitters that work with this drone
A transmitter is a RADIO (you know, a remote control). Every RC Radio will work with this drone. Now every RADIO on the planet is designed to connect to a RECEIVER. The RECEIVER is in the drone and that is what you order when you buy the drone. So you would need a RADIO that is compatible with the RECEIVER options sold with this drone. Check out RADIOMASTER. There radios are very good for the RC FPV Drone hobby.

Writing as a Ham radio operator, antenna orientation is somewhat important. Both receiver and transmitter antennas should be oriented similarly for optimal reception/transmission. If you can't do it, then you can't, but it's better if their orientation is the same. Of course, an acrobatic drone is going to be flipping around a lot so orientation is going to be all over the place.

What control would you recommend for this drone in a digital version?
If you get the digital version you could use the DJI FPV Controller (BLACK ONE) or get any controller that matches the receiver.... so just like me, use a RADIOMASTER TX16S and order the drone with a compatible receiver.
