Lets see if I can break even before setting expectations too high. I've been dreaming about parts of the alps as well as the dolomites in Italy, sure hope I can get there one day. I've also been thinking about getting 3 or 4 people together and getting helicoptered to a remote location deep in the mountains and surrounded by glaciers.

Nothing wrong with flying for distance, even if it's flat. I grew up in a location just as rugged if not more so than where he flies, and it kills me to think that as a kid I would look up at the peaks around me and wonder what it would be like to be up there. Google 'Kemano BC'. That was my playground as a kid.
Hey Man! I really dig this one! I have seen all your videos and must say that encourages me to try new things and especially longer and deeper “in the mountains” kind of flights which is why I am doing this.I love to hike to 6000-7000 ft altitude and then fly from there. When I am out a have only 1 quad and minimal equipment and only 2 3300 6 s lipos usually and last week I went out for a 5 day trip so for me it is very important to have a nice and easy setup .Anyway I will build buy and build a Falcon 7 and wanted to say thanx for all the great informations and cool lr footage. I start losing video when I fly my drone across the street over a small hill when I get behind the hill I start losing video but from your video you no where near your drone and you videos was amazing.
A hill in between you and your drone will cut your signal, no matter how close or far you are. Think of it this way, imagine your drone had an EXTREMELY bright light on it. If you can see that light from where you are flying, then you'll have a good signal (depending on antennas). If you can't see the light then your signal will be much worse. Range is all about line of sight. If I fly my long range drone behind a hill, I'll lose video same as you.
As Chris mentioned, the opening footage is mind blowing. Just ordered a AOS Falcon 7 and thought l may as well get Chris's AOS 5 too! Can't wait to build and fly them
OMG such a nice build! Really well thought out frame. The best part is if you use all the same parts you don't have to do any of the sucky stuff like tuning and you know everything fits and works together.

Just purchased the AOS Falcon 7. Looks a great frame and now have the AOS 5, 5.5 & 7. Chris Rosser is extremely helpful, even remixed a gopro mount for me, when he didn't have to. Look forward to building this quad. Thanks

I know it would be a long video, but it would give us beginners to long range some useful tips of where you start off, how fast you climb etc I struggle to get 500m out without the signal between the goggles and the quad showing as 2 red bars. Im going to build the same LR FPV as you, but it will be digital instead. Would this make a big difference to the range? I will have to use a different FC & ESC as the JB7 isn't available in the UK. Location is what makes long range compelling, and you have access to some world class locations. That frame looks incredible! If it had been available a few months back when I built up my Source One 7" I would have gone with it instead.

I'm already full ideas to try out and see if I can improve the frame any further. If I make any updates to the design I'm going to try and see if I can keep all the fastener holes the same. So if I come out with a different top plate or brace you just need to order one of those, not a whole new frame.

This is really well done. I like the battery deck is perfect top and bottom. The thing I really like are the double plates up front with the standoffs for the GoPro. My current setup has a single plate which was fine until the gopros got heavier also like how low you have the fpv camera. And it looks great nice work
Thank you. Ya the double front plates being connected together by the four 8mm standoffs makes for a very ridged gopro deck. I always get crystal clear footage now.
This frame looks awesome. I need to build one! Have you considered a 5/6" variant of this frame? I love the way the cameras mount, but I'm not keen on 7" props.
I might get on to a 5.5" build at some point but for now I still have two other completely different 7" designs mostly drawn up and almost ready to be cut for initial testing.
I may try doing that if I get fast enough at building, but for now I would probably only be able to make 3 maybe 4 in a long day of work then spend another day testing them all. I would have to charge the cost of parts + 1/2 a days wage. There seems to be more interest in a prebuilt than I had thought there would be. I'll think on it for a few days, if it seems like it might work for me then I guess I could do a youtube poll to get a better idea about overall community interest in the idea. Nice build congratulations, its more than i year i follow your channel and you deserve success. The design on how is position the cam and gopro is innovative, just in a frontal crashing might be breaking, did you tested it?
It's intended for experienced pilots to get clear GoPro footage. I have tried to optimize the design for vibration to improve video quality.. I have not put a lot into making it crash well. Really at an all up weight over 1.3+ kg if you crash at any speed over 60kph a 640gram battery (1 1/2 lbs) turns into a battering ram and with a dead stop impact it will exert extreme forces on the quad. This is MY perfect (large battery) long range gopro quad that I optimized to be good enough to share with others. All that said no I have not done much in the way of durability testing, I haven't had a crash at speed with a 7" long range quad in over two years (if you don't count tapping a branch or prop malfunctions) I've only smashed my flywoo explorer, lol with a small lipo it was like a racing quad compared to a 1.3kg 7" long range build. It's fur sure NOT something to learn on. It only balances out nicely with a full size gopro on board. It's really meant for people who are experienced pilots that want a nice GoPro platform for getting long range footage. I hit some rocks when I made a mistake while hovering and it bent a screw but didn't damage anything else. I made the FPV cam mount with the intention of hoping it will take a good branch hit without getting damaged. I pulled the immortal T mount in the very front closer in so a branch can not get stuck in it. The gopro mount is really tight, it won't fall out. It would take a heavy impact to destroy the gopro mount and dislodge it. The double plates in the front with four standoffs between them should provide some durability especially with the way the FPV cam mount is designed to absorb impacts if printed right......I think it was wall thickness 1.2mm (3 layers) and 30% infill with cubic subdivision that has seemed the best so far. But ya, I don't really crash. Kind of proud of that...

Yes it has a gps rescue function that guides back home if connection with the transmitter is lost. I'm in BC on the west coast of canada. I'll see what I can do about getting a kit of components setup with a store.
All up ready to fly with gopro and 21700 6s2p is HEAVY at 1635 grams. The same setup but with 18650 6s2p is 1385 grams . I can really feel the difference in the weight between them when flying. With the 21700's I have to adjust my flight style and shift to slightly more conservative maneuvering.

Video footage is simply flabbergasting! By seeing the speed of this drone, aerodynamics must be quite a factor. So I was wondering if some easy adjustments like smoothed 3D prints and wind-tight cable tubes could lower the turbulence that this brute monster creates.
I have thought about it quite a bit. As far as 3d prints go I think it would get heavy quickly trying to make aerodynamic improvements for large parts like the battery, gopro or arms. That would need to be an injection molded light weight plastic due to the size. Possibly 3d printing could be used for streamlining the gap between the top and mid plates and maybe at the front or back by the FPV camera and antennas. I started trying to make top and bottom covers for the arms to improve air flow over them but even with only 10 or 15% infill I thought the weight wasn't worth it and never finished the project.
@@FalconRadFPV Don't worry about the large parts or injection molding. Smoothing the 3d printed parts that you have right now with aceton vapor can already add quite some benefit.
Looks like you've done an amazing job with the engineering on this, congratulations! What flight times do you get from using your dual li-ion setup ok this quad?
This is all with a full sized GoPro on board, that's the purpose of the frame. With dual 6s 18650 2600mah packs (5200mah total) I get about 15 min and 15km if I fly up a 2000 meter mountain. If I do an endurance test at the flying field I get more like 18min 18km. With 21700 4200mah cells set up the same way (8400mah total) the weight gets a bit overboard but I have done a 20km 21min round trip up a mountain with it and 21km 22min at the flying field. Very dull response with the heavy 21700 6s2p battery setup though.
Looks like a smart setup. What kind of flight time are you getting out of it? I’m looking into building a long range quad, preferably on 4S. Would I be better off with 6” for 4S regarding amp draw?
7" on 4s does work with li-ion packs. I ran 4s2p 21700 li-ion packs with avenger 2507 1750kv on 4s. Got about the same flight distance total as with 2806.5 1300kv on 6s. About 21km & 20 min is usually my max, without going up a mountain that is. Going up a mountain with wind etc... it's more like 14 or 15 km or 15min.

I did read somewhere that 2507 is the absolute minimum motor size for long range, and that same site recommended (for 4S) 1200KV for LR, 1500 KV for multi purpose, and 1700KV for freestyle. Can I ask what your take is on those numbers?
I'm already waiting for the AOS 7 frame to ship.. This will be my first 7 inch buikld. What is the benefit using the dual gyro FC instead of single gyro in terms of long range flying? Any FC you would recommend for the build other than fc you have now?
The dual gyro FC is supposed to pass slightly cleaner gyro data on to the pid loop. I've been through a couple of other FC's but haven't found anything that I particularly like. There are very few FC's with solder pads for the VTX in the back. So many put it up front and I don't like having to run my video wires over top of the FC or under the ESC. I might try the speedybee F7 next.

I'm still working on an optimal tune. It flys well right now, but there is lots of room for improvement on the tune still. I don't think I'm as good at tuning as people seem to expect. I'm going out again today to start from scratch with a different approach to see if I get a better result. I'm pretty sure I can push the filters way more than I did for the last tune. I'll be doing a video in 2 or 3 weeks about my tune for the quad.

Have you tried any of the newer bi-blade options out there? What kind of motor temps do you land with after a session chasing the RC w/ 4000mAh? I’m fighting some warm/hot motors on my 7” and not sure if that’s normal or if I have issues. It’s also 35C outside that could be part of it too.
I tried some bi blades but they are nowhere near as smooth as the triblades. My motor temp is usually always just a little warm. If you are worried about your motor temp you can probably just move the dterm filter slider one or two notches to the left (lower numbers) OR you could move the master slider on the pid tab to the left one or two notches. That will lower your your pids, everything will go down but it will keep your PID ratios the same. Lowering thr dterm is what will reduce motor temps. Another option is if you have a large spike in your blackbox frequency analysis you could try using a dterm notch filter coving that frequency range. Hope that helps! BTW if you can hold the motor against sensitive skin (like the underside of your wrist) and it's not uncomfortable then it's not hot enough to damage anything. When you bend a prop though it WILL get hotter.
Wow perfect timing, I just started looking for a high performance 7" frame. Could you possibly share blackbox logs from that first "raw GoPro flite test- test field"? Or bb logs from a hard tuning flight? Awesome video man!
Next video is a hard tuning flight, but it ends rather abruptly. I'll probably be using a solid 8 min hard freestyle flight for my blackbox log video. in a week or so.
This one is great for flight time, with the big top plate you can fit up to a 6000mah 6s. As for speed, I've never tried high kv big motors on it yet. I can easily do 80 or 90 kph with the 1300kv 2806.5 but you might want to try higher kv motors for better speed and a bit less efficiency for chasing cars. Maybe the 2808 1500kv? you'll get 30 or 40 % less flight time but better top speed and acceleration.
@@FalconRadFPV 1300kv on 6s and 7 inch props should put you at mach 0.88 prop tip speed. I thought going over that was bad because it would cause the props to wobble and warp from the oscillation of nearing the speed of sound. Is it ok to go over mach 0.88 and still fly ok?
What does AOS stand for? I have seen something like 3 or 4 frames with this in the name recently but none explain what it means relative to them or the frame. Care to elaborate?
I'm really intrested to build in this frame but I have a few questions regarding your setup, firstly what cells would you suggest to use for this quad for maximised flight time, secondly does the immortal T reach the reciver or is it on an extension wire, lastly for a DJI fpv setup do I have to extended the cables for it by 200mm leading to the vtx at the back?
I use the extra extened immortal T. Its like 200mm long. The dji cable you need I believe is 200mm as well, not an add on extension. For flight time I guess vtc 6 but then you need to use smaller motors or they draw too many amps. I use P26A molicels. less capacity then vtc 6 but far superior amp handling. The vtc 6 won't put out close to 3000mah anyways when used at the constant amp draw of a 7 inch quad carrying a gopro.
Great flying, and I love your frame design! I have a question about running 6s2p. If you have 2 x 6s 3000mah 30A Li ion packs running in parallel, what is the maximum amount of amps you can pull before damaging the cells? 30 or 60?
Thank you! You should be able to pull 60+ from it. I'm guessing they are vtc6 cells? They are actually rated for 15 amp constant and 30 amps burst. With my molicel p26a 6s2p setup I can pull over 100 amps for short bursts. I try to stay below 30 amps constant but will hit 40+amps for 30 seconds or more when going up a mountain.
Great your video. Question. Can the TRUERC BARDPOL antenna generate interference? since it is installed together with the VTX antenna. The other question: TRUERC BARDPOLE (rx diversity tbs) what frequency do you use or buy 915 or 868? THX . Greetings from Colombia
Yes it can interfere with the vtx antenna, but the signals are far apart 915 vs 5,800, so simply mounting them on an angle away from each other is sufficient to get good performance from both. The 868 is for Europe. I believe its 915 for most other places. It depends on local regulations about which bands are available for public use.
@FalconRadFPV Something that can be enhanced after I finished the build today: Make the top plate wider right where the straps are attached. Check out the GepRC crocodile 7 top plate. It would be enough just making the step wider where the Strap is atached. that would make it also more rigid on a crash. At the moment the step is only 3mm wide wich could break on a hard crash and eject the battery.
I must know. Will that rear stack mount fit an HDZero Freestyle unit? It's somewhat rare to find frames that will mount them without hassle as everything has been made just large enough for a DJI Air Unit/Vista.

I'm working on figuring out some new methods of distribution and production. Trying to make Europe part of the plan, but it will be a few months minimum.
I think I might prefer the gemfan, I keep going back and forth though. The find the gemfan to be better balanced, with slightly better low throttle response.
FalconRad have you tried the Gemfan Cinelifter 7035 props they are my favorite for 7inch? Also what does AOS mean I've seen that on there peeps frame names? Also what the auw now with this new frame? Seems kinda heavy!
Yes its on the heavy side for sure. The pinned comment has the weight break down. 10 or 15g more than a chimera 7 but the arms are also 33% thicker and more than twice the stiffness. I can not bend one of my frame arms by hand, not even 1mm. Due to the weight of this setup the cinelifter props don't have enough pitch. If I flew with a 2600 to 3300 mah lipo it would probably be in the right range for using the cinelifter props, might want a higher kv motor then though as well. The cinelifter props work great on the next frame that I'm working on, it's still a 7" but its lighter and uses smaller, higher kv motors and will only fit li-ion packs or a 2200mah lipo max. (Version 1.1 or 2 or whatever might be 8 to 12+ grams lighter as I go through more testing to work the weight down a bit.)
Will there be a an online site selling the TPU parts or will we have to find somewhere to print them ourselves. I'm not 3d printing at home yet. Sweet frame btw.
No sorry, on your own for now with the 3d prints. The files are on thingiverse so you could download them and get any 3d printing service to print them for you.
Conrad, hope things are good. I have been "coaching" a number of young people around my country over the phone and have discovered how valuble this is to people if like me you have "people skills" and a bit common sence etc. Last week I spent 2 hours with a young schoolboy who has jumped straight into 7in, hes keen smart and motivated etc......What real world advice would you pass onto him in a sentence given your experence?
Thanks for the comment. That's a tough one. When I here that or a person new to the hobby doing the same I feel like I should warn them about it not being the place to start. I also don't want to rain on anyone's daydreams of what they what FPV to be for them. In sentence....A 7" is more work and difficulty than a 5", it doesn't fly as well and is more difficult to tune. In a crash it's more likely to break and harder to fly in small parks. BUT they look amazing and get good flight times and are still really fun to fly. Every 10min practicing in the sim will save you $1 to $2 in replacing broken parts. I don't really crash my quads very often so 7" works well for me.

What is the standoff spacing of the AOS falcon for the rear standoffs? I am wondering if the 3D print can be used on other quads for the gps/vtx set up.

You're welcome. I think of it like this, I built my own car and brought it to AOS RC, Chris put on a performance suspension kit and a turbo charger then helped my find a buyer. I was going for getting Chris Rosser's company name (AOS RC)out with this one. He has a really nice looking website for AOS RC as well. As the wording in the beginning of the video says, It was my design and he helped to improve on it and move on to getting it in the CNCDrones store. More in depth, I worked on it on my own for about 6 to 8 months. (I have a full time job as well of course) I got the design to the form you see in the final version. Chris helped with some basic (like ditch my floppy gopro mount) and several more in depth things. Like moving up to 8mm carbon for the arms and working another set of standoffs in to better manage the weight of such heavy batteries and fit in an air unit. He also was responsible for optimizing the cutouts for weight vs strength amongst other things.
Does this frame use a standoff offset that is shared with another common model by any chance? The backpack STL are pretty limited and still haven't any luck cleanly modifying STLs without source files.

He is, for all but this one. I took my FalconRad 7 to get a performance tune from AOS RC. The result was still my design but it has specific tweaks to it implemented by AOS RC to improve the performance. So.... AOS Falcon 7.

Not sure about building them to sell. I'm not the fastest builder, I'm rather particular about everything being just right. I guess I'll time myself on the next build.
Would be great if someone could design some more TPU parts on thingy. Something like gorpo7 mount, bn-180gps and 2x SMA pigtail mount for DJI. I love the countless parts provided with the FR7 on thingy. Something similar for this frame would be great.

I really dig this one! I have seen all your videos and must say that encourages me to try new things and especially longer and deeper “in the mountains” kind of flights which is why I am doing this.I love to hike to 6000-7000 ft altitude and then fly from there. When I am out a have only 1 quad and minimal equipment and only 2 3300 6 s lipos usually and last week I went out for a 5 day trip so for me it is very important to have a nice and easy setup .Anyway I will build buy and build a Falcon 7 and wanted to say thanx for all the great informations and cool lr footage.

I start losing video when I fly my drone across the street over a small hill when I get behind the hill I start losing video but from your video you no where near your drone and you videos was amazing.
A hill in between you and your drone will cut your signal, no matter how close or far you are. Think of it this way, imagine your drone had an EXTREMELY bright light on it. If you can see that light from where you are flying, then you'll have a good signal (depending on antennas). If you can't see the light then your signal will be much worse. Range is all about line of sight. If I fly my long range drone behind a hill, I'll lose video same as you.

I struggle to get 500m out without the signal between the goggles and the quad showing as 2 red bars. Im going to build the same LR FPV as you, but it will be digital instead. Would this make a big difference to the range? I will have to use a different FC & ESC as the JB7 isn't available in the UK.

It took about 2 weeks from Canada to Germany. Hopefully we will see more TPU parts on thingy soon. I'm also planning to use shorter 25mm standoffs for lowering the top plate. This should increase stability with heavy batteries due to lower cg

I'm already full ideas to try out and see if I can improve the frame any further. If I make any updates to the design I'm going to try and see if I can keep all the fastener holes the same. So if I come out with a different top plate or brace you just need to order one of those, not a whole new frame.

This is really well done. I like the battery deck is perfect top and bottom. The thing I really like are the double plates up front with the standoffs for the GoPro. My current setup has a single plate which was fine until the gopros got heavier also like how low you have the fpv camera. And it looks great nice work

This frame looks awesome. I need to build one! Have you considered a 5/6" variant of this frame? I love the way the cameras mount, but I'm not keen on 7" props.
I might get on to a 5.5" build at some point but for now I still have two other completely different 7" designs mostly drawn up and almost ready to be cut for initial testing.

I may try doing that if I get fast enough at building, but for now I would probably only be able to make 3 maybe 4 in a long day of work then spend another day testing them all. I would have to charge the cost of parts + 1/2 a days wage. There seems to be more interest in a prebuilt than I had thought there would be. I'll think on it for a few days, if it seems like it might work for me then I guess I could do a youtube poll to get a better idea about overall community interest in the idea. Nice build congratulations, its more than i year i follow your channel and you deserve success. The design on how is position the cam and gopro is innovative, just in a frontal crashing might be breaking, did you tested it?
It's intended for experienced pilots to get clear GoPro footage. I have tried to optimize the design for vibration to improve video quality.. I have not put a lot into making it crash well. Really at an all up weight over 1.3+ kg if you crash at any speed over 60kph a 640gram battery (1 1/2 lbs) turns into a battering ram and with a dead stop impact it will exert extreme forces on the quad. This is MY perfect (large battery) long range gopro quad that I optimized to be good enough to share with others. All that said no I have not done much in the way of durability testing, I haven't had a crash at speed with a 7" long range quad in over two years (if you don't count tapping a branch or prop malfunctions) I've only smashed my flywoo explorer, lol with a small lipo it was like a racing quad compared to a 1.3kg 7" long range build. It's fur sure NOT something to learn on. It only balances out nicely with a full size gopro on board. It's really meant for people who are experienced pilots that want a nice GoPro platform for getting long range footage.
I hit some rocks when I made a mistake while hovering and it bent a screw but didn't damage anything else. I made the FPV cam mount with the intention of hoping it will take a good branch hit without getting damaged. I pulled the immortal T mount in the very front closer in so a branch can not get stuck in it. The gopro mount is really tight, it won't fall out. It would take a heavy impact to destroy the gopro mount and dislodge it. The double plates in the front with four standoffs between them should provide some durability especially with the way the FPV cam mount is designed to absorb impacts if printed right......I think it was wall thickness 1.2mm (3 layers) and 30% infill with cubic subdivision that has seemed the best so far. But ya, I don't really crash. Kind of proud of that...

Yes it has a gps rescue function that guides back home if connection with the transmitter is lost. I'm in BC on the west coast of canada. I'll see what I can do about getting a kit of components setup with a store.

If you don't mind me asking...what is your all up weight with the props, gopro, and also your dual custom 21700 packs mounted?
All up ready to fly with gopro and 21700 6s2p is HEAVY at 1635 grams.
The same setup but with 18650 6s2p is 1385 grams .
I can really feel the difference in the weight between them when flying. With the 21700's I have to adjust my flight style and shift to slightly more conservative maneuvering.

Video footage is simply flabbergasting! By seeing the speed of this drone, aerodynamics must be quite a factor. So I was wondering if some easy adjustments like smoothed 3D prints and wind-tight cable tubes could lower the turbulence that this brute monster creates.
I have thought about it quite a bit. As far as 3d prints go I think it would get heavy quickly trying to make aerodynamic improvements for large parts like the battery, gopro or arms. That would need to be an injection molded light weight plastic due to the size.
Possibly 3d printing could be used for streamlining the gap between the top and mid plates and maybe at the front or back by the FPV camera and antennas. I started trying to make top and bottom covers for the arms to improve air flow over them but even with only 10 or 15% infill I thought the weight wasn't worth it and never finished the project.
@@FalconRadFPV Don't worry about the large parts or injection molding. Smoothing the 3d printed parts that you have right now with aceton vapor can already add quite some benefit.

What flight times do you get from using your dual li-ion setup ok this quad?
This is all with a full sized GoPro on board, that's the purpose of the frame.
With dual 6s 18650 2600mah packs (5200mah total) I get about 15 min and 15km if I fly up a 2000 meter mountain. If I do an endurance test at the flying field I get more like 18min 18km. With 21700 4200mah cells set up the same way (8400mah total) the weight gets a bit overboard but I have done a 20km 21min round trip up a mountain with it and 21km 22min at the flying field. Very dull response with the heavy 21700 6s2p battery setup though.

I’m looking into building a long range quad, preferably on 4S. Would I be better off with 6” for 4S regarding amp draw?
7" on 4s does work with li-ion packs. I ran 4s2p 21700 li-ion packs with avenger 2507 1750kv on 4s. Got about the same flight distance total as with 2806.5 1300kv on 6s. About 21km & 20 min is usually my max, without going up a mountain that is. Going up a mountain with wind etc... it's more like 14 or 15 km or 15min.

I did read somewhere that 2507 is the absolute minimum motor size for long range, and that same site recommended (for 4S) 1200KV for LR, 1500 KV for multi purpose, and 1700KV for freestyle. Can I ask what your take is on those numbers?
I'm already waiting for the AOS 7 frame to ship.. This will be my first 7 inch buikld. What is the benefit using the dual gyro FC instead of single gyro in terms of long range flying? Any FC you would recommend for the build other than fc you have now?
The dual gyro FC is supposed to pass slightly cleaner gyro data on to the pid loop. I've been through a couple of other FC's but haven't found anything that I particularly like. There are very few FC's with solder pads for the VTX in the back. So many put it up front and I don't like having to run my video wires over top of the FC or under the ESC. I might try the speedybee F7 next.

I'm still working on an optimal tune. It flys well right now, but there is lots of room for improvement on the tune still. I don't think I'm as good at tuning as people seem to expect. I'm going out again today to start from scratch with a different approach to see if I get a better result. I'm pretty sure I can push the filters way more than I did for the last tune. I'll be doing a video in 2 or 3 weeks about my tune for the quad.

What kind of motor temps do you land with after a session chasing the RC w/ 4000mAh? I’m fighting some warm/hot motors on my 7” and not sure if that’s normal or if I have issues. It’s also 35C outside that could be part of it too.
What spec motors are you using I use xing
2806.5 1300kv never had even warm motors?
I tried some bi blades but they are nowhere near as smooth as the triblades. My motor temp is usually always just a little warm. If you are worried about your motor temp you can probably just move the dterm filter slider one or two notches to the left (lower numbers) OR you could move the master slider on the pid tab to the left one or two notches. That will lower your your pids, everything will go down but it will keep your PID ratios the same. Lowering thr dterm is what will reduce motor temps. Another option is if you have a large spike in your blackbox frequency analysis you could try using a dterm notch filter coving that frequency range. Hope that helps! BTW if you can hold the motor against sensitive skin (like the underside of your wrist) and it's not uncomfortable then it's not hot enough to damage anything. When you bend a prop though it WILL get hotter.

Next video is a hard tuning flight, but it ends rather abruptly. I'll probably be using a solid 8 min hard freestyle flight for my blackbox log video.

I'm looking for a drone that can be fast for chasing cars but also fly for a while. Is this a good size and frame for that?
This one is great for flight time, with the big top plate you can fit up to a 6000mah 6s. As for speed, I've never tried high kv big motors on it yet. I can easily do 80 or 90 kph with the 1300kv 2806.5 but you might want to try higher kv motors for better speed and a bit less efficiency for chasing cars. Maybe the 2808 1500kv? you'll get 30 or 40 % less flight time but better top speed and acceleration.
@@FalconRadFPV 1300kv on 6s and 7 inch props should put you at mach 0.88 prop tip speed. I thought going over that was bad because it would cause the props to wobble and warp from the oscillation of nearing the speed of sound. Is it ok to go over mach 0.88 and still fly ok?
What does AOS stand for? I have seen something like 3 or 4 frames with this in the name recently but none explain what it means relative to them or the frame. Care to elaborate?

I'm really intrested to build in this frame but I have a few questions regarding your setup, firstly what cells would you suggest to use for this quad for maximised flight time, secondly does the immortal T reach the reciver or is it on an extension wire, lastly for a DJI fpv setup do I have to extended the cables for it by 200mm leading to the vtx at the back?
I use the extra extened immortal T. Its like 200mm long. The dji cable you need I believe is 200mm as well, not an add on extension.
For flight time I guess vtc 6 but then you need to use smaller motors or they draw too many amps. I use P26A molicels. less capacity then vtc 6 but far superior amp handling. The vtc 6 won't put out close to 3000mah anyways when used at the constant amp draw of a 7 inch quad carrying a gopro.

I have a question about running 6s2p. If you have 2 x 6s 3000mah 30A Li ion packs running in parallel, what is the maximum amount of amps you can pull before damaging the cells? 30 or 60?
Thank you! You should be able to pull 60+ from it. I'm guessing they are vtc6 cells? They are actually rated for 15 amp constant and 30 amps burst.
With my molicel p26a 6s2p setup I can pull over 100 amps for short bursts. I try to stay below 30 amps constant but will hit 40+amps for 30 seconds or more when going up a mountain.

Yes it can interfere with the vtx antenna, but the signals are far apart 915 vs 5,800, so simply mounting them on an angle away from each other is sufficient to get good performance from both. The 868 is for Europe. I believe its 915 for most other places. It depends on local regulations about which bands are available for public use.

Something that can be enhanced after I finished the build today: Make the top plate wider right where the straps are attached. Check out the GepRC crocodile 7 top plate. It would be enough just making the step wider where the Strap is atached. that would make it also more rigid on a crash. At the moment the step is only 3mm wide wich could break on a hard crash and eject the battery.
Thanks for your thoughts about the frame. It's an interesting idea. It's all about balancing the weight vs stiffness and durability.
I must know. Will that rear stack mount fit an HDZero Freestyle unit? It's somewhat rare to find frames that will mount them without hassle as everything has been made just large enough for a DJI Air Unit/Vista.
It'll fit about 43mm X 45mm, maybe even a little bit bigger, all clear of props of course. That's centered on the 30.5mm X 30.5mm rear mount.

I think I might prefer the gemfan, I keep going back and forth though. The find the gemfan to be better balanced, with slightly better low throttle response.
Gemfan are lighter and need less PD Gain due to better response. I think they are a better choice on the 2806.5 motors.
FalconRad have you tried the Gemfan Cinelifter 7035 props they are my favorite for 7inch? Also what does AOS mean I've seen that on there peeps frame names? Also what the auw now with this new frame? Seems kinda heavy!
Yes its on the heavy side for sure. The pinned comment has the weight break down. 10 or 15g more than a chimera 7 but the arms are also 33% thicker and more than twice the stiffness. I can not bend one of my frame arms by hand, not even 1mm. Due to the weight of this setup the cinelifter props don't have enough pitch. If I flew with a 2600 to 3300 mah lipo it would probably be in the right range for using the cinelifter props, might want a higher kv motor then though as well. The cinelifter props work great on the next frame that I'm working on, it's still a 7" but its lighter and uses smaller, higher kv motors and will only fit li-ion packs or a 2200mah lipo max. (Version 1.1 or 2 or whatever might be 8 to 12+ grams lighter as I go through more testing to work the weight down a bit.)

No, I'm pretty sure there will be props in view at 10 degrees tilt on the gopro.

No sorry, on your own for now with the 3d prints. The files are on thingiverse so you could download them and get any 3d printing service to print them for you.

Conrad, hope things are good. I have been "coaching" a number of young people around my country over the phone and have discovered how valuble this is to people if like me you have "people skills" and a bit common sence etc. Last week I spent 2 hours with a young schoolboy who has jumped straight into 7in, hes keen smart and motivated etc......What real world advice would you pass onto him in a sentence given your experence?
Thanks for the comment. That's a tough one. When I here that or a person new to the hobby doing the same I feel like I should warn them about it not being the place to start. I also don't want to rain on anyone's daydreams of what they what FPV to be for them.
In sentence....A 7" is more work and difficulty than a 5", it doesn't fly as well and is more difficult to tune. In a crash it's more likely to break and harder to fly in small parks. BUT they look amazing and get good flight times and are still really fun to fly. Every 10min practicing in the sim will save you $1 to $2 in replacing broken parts.
I don't really crash my quads very often so 7" works well for me.
Very nice frame, love your videos. I am thinking about switching from analog to digital, which brings me to my question: Why you flying analog? Is there any big disadvantage in digital that causes you to stay analog? Would love to hear your opinion. Thx a lot.
Thanks very much! No just the cost of getting new DJI gear and several air units is way out of my budget. My total affiliate link revenue for the last 1 year covered 1/4 of what designing the new frame cost. Maybe if I sell enough frames I'll get some DJI gear though!

What is the standoff spacing of the AOS falcon for the rear standoffs? I am wondering if the 3D print can be used on other quads for the gps/vtx set up.
Pretty sure it's 34mm.

Thank you for all your information! Your channel is a true gem for building my own 7". Question, didn't you collab with Cris Rosser for this frame? Suddently I seem to mis his name, except for the AOS branding.
Also: have you ever considered using Kababs 30mm motors for your 7"?
You're welcome. I think of it like this, I built my own car and brought it to AOS RC, Chris put on a performance suspension kit and a turbo charger then helped my find a buyer.
I was going for getting Chris Rosser's company name (AOS RC)out with this one. He has a really nice looking website for AOS RC as well. As the wording in the beginning of the video says, It was my design and he helped to improve on it and move on to getting it in the CNCDrones store.
More in depth, I worked on it on my own for about 6 to 8 months. (I have a full time job as well of course) I got the design to the form you see in the final version. Chris helped with some basic (like ditch my floppy gopro mount) and several more in depth things. Like moving up to 8mm carbon for the arms and working another set of standoffs in to better manage the weight of such heavy batteries and fit in an air unit. He also was responsible for optimizing the cutouts for weight vs strength amongst other things.

Does this frame use a standoff offset that is shared with another common model by any chance? The backpack STL are pretty limited and still haven't any luck cleanly modifying STLs without source files.

I thought chris rosser was the man behind the AOS frames?? Great video though, im sold.
He is, for all but this one. I took my FalconRad 7 to get a performance tune from AOS RC. The result was still my design but it has specific tweaks to it implemented by AOS RC to improve the performance. So.... AOS Falcon 7.

Not sure about building them to sell. I'm not the fastest builder, I'm rather particular about everything being just right. I guess I'll time myself on the next build.

Would be great if someone could design some more TPU parts on thingy. Something like gorpo7 mount, bn-180gps and 2x SMA pigtail mount for DJI.

Yes I agree, I would love to see some other mounts for it. I'll be adding a GoPro Hero 5,6,7 mount very soon.
