    Love your hair!!
I've had the same problem with the front of my hair. I stared retightining the front every 3 weeks and the rest of my head evey 6 weeks. It has helped strengthen my locs around the edges.

  • @MoreSand12
    @MoreSand12 3 роки тому +53

For me, retightening the edges more often than the rest of my head is what keeps them strong. Most people's edges are naturally short, therefore, they're always shedding and the base looks thinner because of it.

I made my edges bigger as locs in this area are prone to thin. You may find combining yours is the best solution as they look wispy & FRAGILE! 😬 I also retie my edges more often than the rest of my locs, I want my them to be strong & healthy & stay that way. Ok back to the rest of video, thanks for sharing ☺️

You should have combined the thin ones in the front because that base looks weak listen to your hair it’s telling you what to do I had to combine one in the front as well

Maybe your re-tightening tool is to big. Your tool is like double or triple the size of the base. I use the plastic needle too.(Got the idea from you🤗) then I finally invested in the nappy loc tool.

I agree with so many of the comments below. I had thinnng locs only in the edges area. What I have learned in my years of having small locs for my edges are the following: 1. your edges really tell the story: when I am eating healthy, not stressed etc, my edges were full, and when my anemia was running rampant, they were super thin. So I have locs around the edges that are thin in some parts to the point of breaking and then full above and below it. 2. I learned this from my bestie who has her hair done: her consultant would retie her edges sooner then the rest of her head, so I started to implement that. I retie every 5 weeks and so I started to retie my edges at the halfway mark. It has helped. (I am typing as I listen and I completely understand you...I am in med school and it is tough keeping up with my hair as well). 3. If the loc kept giving me issues, i combined it with another lock to strengthen it. It doesn't really look off because the locs around my edges were super small. Lastly the nappy locs tool was a great investment cause it is small and it won't pull. The larger needle I had was not the greatest for my edges.
    Hope this was helpful.

Your journey and videos is what's convinced my daughter to loc her hair. I think she's about bra strap length right now... Tfs this. Now I have to go back and watch your grid video because I'm the one going to do her hair. She's in school too (law school + she has a 4 yr old, and works full time) so I do what I can to help her not have to worry about hair too.

I have bangs with my microlocs and saw some thinning as well. I'm about 13 months into my Journey. I didnt know what to do so I left it alone now, I have enough newgrowth to fully repair the loc.

Hey beloved, your hair is looking amazing.
I think the thinning at the front is due to the length of time between reties. Just based on the amount of times you did rotations
In my personal experience I have to retighten my thinner edges more frequently, every 4wks as they are more vulnerable. I can leave the others 8wks max. I have found that 4 wkly reties of the front locks has maintained the integrity of them.
    I hope that helps 🙏🏿🕊️♥️

Try a 100% silk and or satin scarf at night to wrap your hair and edges.. prevents breakage or buy a 100% silk pillow case

It's probably too late but I try not to combine edge locks because my edge locks where intentionally smaller so that as they mature the look fuller and my edges won't be too scalpy. That's my logic anyway. Edge locks do tend to be fragile so I don't do them as tight as the rest and tend to retighten them more often for that reason.

@@QueenEleem Pray, use E-45 cream to help clear it up and to help with the itching and then when it's gone, avoid scented soaps unless they have tea tree, peppermint etc and use a gentle hydrating cream twice a day (after a bath). That's how I helped get rid of my eczema and it hasn't returned full force( I forgot to do it for a bit and I got back my wrist patch like in your video but mine is usually more purple. )👍

You black women a gorgeous. I’m 66 and a businesswoman . I have traditional locks for 18 yrs and I’m in the process of taking them out to reinstall microlocs. I worn a wig until my locs grew out about an mature for fear of how my clients (physicians) would respond. I totally misjudged the public eye. They loved my traditional locs and embraced them as a part of me. For the most part they didn’t give a hoot. It’s taking me foreverrrrrrr to take these locs out, so I’m enjoyyour videos while I’m picking.

First, I would like to say I'm a huge fan and through watching your videos, I was motivated to start my locs myself. I'm in an Accelerated BSN program (12 months. 3 semesters) and I started my microlocs a week before my first semester. (Crazy, I know). I didn't finish my install until 3 months later. I'm 6 months into my journey. I'm doing my own reties and I have combined the whole perimeter in the front because they were so thin and I was scared that they would break off. Also, I retie my edges more often then the rest of my head which helps with the thinning and keeping the lose hairs in the loc.

My hair thinned and actually fell out on my temples but now I have quite a bit of new growth. Your thinning area looks a little red and I’m wondering if it is a flare up for you as well or just lighting? I didn’t know what was causing the thinning at first but now I know. Does your eczema affect your scalp? Maybe that could be it. I would say talk to your dermatologist. I have eczema too and it really breaks my hair in the back to the point where my under cut went from statement to necessary. 3 of my microlocs in the back are right at the problem area, just above my under cut, and they are much shorter than the rest of my locs from the breakage. My brother has the same problem with his scalp from eczema in the same spot as mine. This was a problem before I installed my microlocs.
