- My favorite keyboard solo for this song (except the original by Kenny of course) and one of my favorite concerts.
Sting (Vocals & Bass)
David Sancious (Keys)
Vinnie Colaiuta (Drums)
Dominic Miller (Guitar)
Who is still listening in 2024?
Who is still listening to this great concert in 2020.
Played as a theme song to a set. Quite appropriate for these times
Love it.
Found this at Amoeba on a live album mere weeks ago. A masterpiece and my favorite arrangement of “Bring on the Night”
I am, 67, midnight, a million miles away in India .... hungrily
And isn't that David Sancious?
I cannot believe Sting plays that funky bass without actually using slap. He's very special guy.. Unique.
Excellent jazz, rock, heavy metal - all in one piece.
This entire gig is probably the greatest recorded drum performance ever! It has everything, I played it to death in the 90's. Jazz, reggae, impeccable groove, power, precision, incredible licks and a smattering of double bass!!! There's nobody else out there that could have played this gig with the same quality, variety and intent to that level...
Básicamente lo mismo que Stewart, lol
I believe most of the commentators here are Sancious fans. We cannot see and hear enough of that extraordinary man. The other musicians play well too, of course.
Colaiuta FOREVER.
This is nuts front to back.
As sweet as it is,
it’s that bass and guitar doubling up to end the song that always gives me a chill.
Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em...
Aside from the keyboard solo, for me, its Sting's bass playing that really stands out on these two tracks.
Sancious is one of the best keyboardplayers in the world, his techniques are outstanding! Unfortunately not everyone knows...
Oh I agree! Thankfully, people like Stanley Clarke, Santana, Jeff Beck, Peter Gabriel, Seal and many others know about David
David Sancious is great on keys and not a slouch on the guitar either...phenomenal musician.
Sting is a got damn genius
this is hands down the best version of this song ever. period.
Wow, great bass session by Sting during the piano solo! Groooove!
Sting knew his stuff! l was SO GLAD he brought jazz into his repertoire. You can jazz so many police tunes, and he was the the one who brought quazi punk and jazz together. Phenomenal musicians!
Been saying for Years - so talented..but such a prick!😂- it's a such a shame. Love His Music- always have.
This was a brilliant tour. I saw the Ten Summoners Tales tour at The Royal Albert Hall, London, and it rocked. The sound was amazing, and these four playing together was awesome. I went to 4 other Sting gigs after that one, and none of them were as good as that. Why oh why there were never a DVD of this Oslo gig.
Literally wore my vhs recording of this concert out when I was a teenager. Stole so many Vinnie licks from this gig. Genius.
Sting has ALWAYS been one of my favorites. This is a great live performance. Sting's May 1994 Berklee Commencement Address was an AMAZING read. I will never forget his words. So true what he said about Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings." That hit me hard. Sting is another gifted musician that I never get tired of listening to.
No matter the year Sting is still the greatest musician and singer....
Timeless and sublime Mr. Sumner
Definitely one of the best Sting's concerts and my favorite ones. The first I was watching hours and hours non-stop when I was small. Terrific!
my heart was absolutely broken when the police split but it healed when sting started making this music as a solo artist it was destined. Love you man.
absolutely incredible...Iplay piano...he rocks...
Wow, what a line up. I've said it on many other videos, but David Sancious is one of the great keyboardists of the last 40 years. He absolutely kills it every time he plays. I was lucky enough to see him play with Jeff Beck a couple of years ago and it ruled.
We've heard excellent versions with great keyboard and guitar solos before on this number. However, what makes this version superior is the way they break it down at the end followed by that huge peak
One of the best piano's solos ever!!!
+Joberson Macedo Yes!!!!
Joberson Macedo antes había otro (rip) pero también es muy bueno!!!
Buena banda!!! Callioutta genial!!!
Great solo! Amazing energy from the band. Listen to Sting on the bass there. Wow!
At the beginning 43s - 46s vinnie plays this rim shot pattern on the snare while playin this triplet feel on hats, ostinato pattern on bass drum/hi hats and its stunningly beautiful, such a talented drummer
It is called perfection.
What a stunning solo by mr.Miller...nothing short of perfection! Vinnie shreds it, and David must have made maestro Kenny proud!
I recorded this concert when it aired on norwegian tv, I think I killed the tape in the end - thank heavens for UA-cam :)
I was thinking the SAME exact thing about Kenny Kirkland and how he's smiling watching this.
OMG!!! I thought the Bring on the night line up with Jones on bass was awesome. Sting let me know not to sleep on him!!!
The best solo in my opinion that Dominic has done on this song was 2/22/94 New Jersey. Can be heard on the bootleg "King of New Jersey". It rocks harder than this, the distortion is turned up, and he makes that old Strat absolutely SCREAM.
Yes he did. Master Kenny looking down from heaven with a big ear to ear.
This tour was fantastic, I saw this at the albert hall in London. It was pure raw energy, Vinnie got to shine. Stings tours after this one lacked that. I still loved them, but not as good as this line up. David Sancious was good. But you sort of always thought... mmmm, Kenny should be playing this, and you know he'd cream it too. I've still got this on VHS recorded off the TV. I wish this got the DVD treatment.
I think Vinny was on fire that night. I always swear by what Omar had done when Sting was on his "Dream of the Blue Turtles" tour but that samba-Latin style Vinny plays at the beginning is out-of-this-world good. I keep playing that part over and over again.
Who are we kidding, in the 90's and probably by today's standards too, this was the best band money could buy. VC on drums...I mean he was the GOLD standard.
Just a great band performance and credit to sting . He’s playing in front of one of the worlds best drummers , intimidating to say the least .
@@ianseward9928 Sting is used to playing in front of amazing drummers. I'm convinced that being in a band with Stewart Copeland spoiled Sting when it comes to percussion, so in his solo work he makes sure he has the best drummer he can hire.
What a great bunch of professionals.
This should be released in Bluray with 5.1 mix
Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The afternoon has gently passed me by
The evening spreads its sail against the sky
Waiting for tomorrow
Just another day
God bid yesterday goodbye
The future is but a question mark
Hangs above my head there in the dark
Can't see for the brightness
Is staring me blind
God bid yesterday goodbye
Turn on my V.C.R.
Same one I've had for years
James Brown on the Tami Show
Same tape I've had for years
I sit in my old car
Same one I've had for years
Old battery's running down
It ran for years and years
Turn on the radio
The static hurts my ears
Tell me where would I go
I ain't been out in years
Turn on the stereo
It's played for years and years
An Otis Redding song
It's all I own
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When I feel lonely here
Don't waste my time with tears
I run 'Deep Throat' again
It ran for years and years
Don't like the food I eat
The cans are running out
Same food for years and years
I hate the food I eat
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
Yeah !!! Living For The Brightness.. Bring On The ..Light ..To The World !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!
Shredding piano solo!
David Sancious... Un FUCKING believable!!! I dont even like Sting, but you just have to appreciate that as a musician!!
Iv listened to every single video of the (Bring on the Night/when the world is running down live) combo i could find on UA-cam. This is my favorite for sure!
Yeah , Vinnie !
Ez valami szédületes volt. Tökéletesen kielégítette a jó zene iránti igényemet.Szuper szuper szuper!
Sting is one of my favorite artists. This show proves why! Killer band too...David's keyboard solo was very impressive! The drummer is insane too! Thanks so much for uploading this fantastic clip!
What memories.....
David rulezzz...
i love the sound on this video but i wish it was louder in my headphones. I love Sting and love watching him play bass and sing.
2/24/24 I'm still listening😊
The best part from 0.00 to 8.45
Vienniiiiiiiieeeeeee!!!!!!
Los mejores músicos que tuvo Sting!!!
I was there with my bro and girlfriend. They still thank me to this day for getting the tickets.
One word
PHENOMENAL!!!
I saw the 1st solo concert of sting in 85 it was something ....then many afterwards
I saw this same lineup on the Soul Cages tour in 1991 and they played this. There was a vhs released of a show on that tour simply called, "The Soul Cages Concert." It was almost the same exact setlist that I saw. It was a great concert video but I eventually wore mine out.I've always wanted to see that concert get released on DVD, but if A&M hasn't done it by now, it's never going to happen. I wish I could've seen him on this tour. I've seen him 3 times so I'm not complaining. Thanks 4 posting
Holy Moly.
These guys are MUCH better than that mechanical-feeling house band over at the Chuck E Cheeze's ... the playlist never changes with those guys...
That Power!
I was there! Good choice!
El bajo de sting es tremendo 😮
yeaaaaah - alwaaaays love this samba rhythm
Ahh... wonderfullll!!!!
Just perfect :-)
Tight
First time I have EVER heard anything Police-wise without Stewart Copeland that I actually like better. Stewarts amazing, gappy playing wouldn't have filled out the sound so well, in this case.
TOO GROOVY !!)) Mr. Sting seems like hitting his head against the keyboard at 5:08 ))))
This is the fabiuolus group!!!
Remember discovering this live the night before an university examn, fair to say I couldn't study it
Best Four Piece Ever! Fight me!
👍👍👍👍👍💕💖
Fantastic! I've been hoping someone would upload this. I used to have it on VHS and played it to death. Vinnie is so great. The whole band are so tight. I still can't get that triplet thing that vinnie does on the cross stick during the samba bit whilst keeping the hi hat pattern going. I've been trying for 14 years! Thanks so much for this clip. Hopefully it will be released on DVD one day. No other drummer can do this stuff justice and a fair few have tried!
R u talking about at the beginning? Its like an ostinato pattern? If so ye it's played beautifully
@@kayned47 yeah, it’s like a samba type thing. Before it kicks in. At one point he plays a bunch of triplets in the cross stick whilst keeping the samba type pattern going. It’s harder than it sounds!! 👌🏻
@@timpricedrums ye it's great isn't it, I've been listening 2 a lot of marco minneman, he's like a vinnie 2.0, very creative and such a joy 2 watch
Wooooow!!! What else to say?!
The guitar player is great

BRUTAL!
It is great, and Sancious is awesome, but he did get beat on this solo. There used to be a video on UA-cam of Russ Irwin playing with the band and doing this solo. If Kirkland was a 10, and Sancious was an 8+, Irwin was a 13. Seriously, if you ever have a chance to hear him soloing this with Sting's band it's just MONSTROUS!
ua-cam.com/video/Lwkhd2imQ14/v-deo.html -- this is a 17 second excerpt of it...
As far as I know there is no DVD version of this great concert published. I also have the VHS version and digitized it. I hope anyone will publish a digital remastered version of this concert...
Music
There is a semi-pro release of this concert available on DVD. I say semi-pro as it was shot by someone else...I guess it falls under the bootleg label somewhere. I have the concert on a pro audio cassette but its been played so much, there are audio dropouts in spots. Would love just to have the audio tracks. If you do a search for it, you will find it, but its not available from places like amazon etc, its from an independent source.
Bliss rigth here. TY.
❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍😀!!!!!
🙌🏻🔝
AWESOME! wish i was there. the video was smoky asf and i know why. I wonder if the band got a contact high?
Hey audience, look a little more excited there! C'mon man.
かっくいいー
It is a DVD, I saw it on Amazon (i think) ckeck it out
Killer:)
@hayleyw1982 There ara a remasterized version arround the web. I don't know if the VHS version digitalized but the quality is enough
@level42info
and what do you say, when you compare him with kenny kirkland?
samba

Man these cats are talking!!
Anyone knows another live keys solo where (I suppose) Kenny plays looong and more dynamic and stronger then this guy, of beat and stuff??? I don't know where and when that was, I have had that version od CD copy and it is worn out :-(((
Check this album from Sting: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bring_On_the_Night
MrGSpot3 that's it! ! ♡ thank you...
@BKIma HAHA, agreed.
Vinnie rules...give that man a hand. Who the fuck is Omar Hakim :-)
the original was a Police song, not Sting alone, not sure whether Kenny Kirkland accompanied that powerful trio
Of course he didn't!
Titulo que use para un trabajo de linguistica aplicada…
Bruh…. How can you follow that piano solo?
I thought the keyboardist was Kenny Kirkland
Amazing energy!! However, the audience S U C K S!!!
Drummer?
Vinnie Colaiuta - www.vinniecolaiuta.com/
thanx man!
The best out there. My hero.
@oxygene65 Have a look on Amazon
No bad, but the original The Police is better.
