Annie Lennox has a genius IQ and the voice of a Siren. I would shipwreck myself to see her in concert again. Wrapped in what looked like leopard skin, feral and fearless, she tore the roof off the Orpheum. She's right up there with Paul Rodgers and Freddie, a rock goddess, born from original sin. She redeems us every time she sings a note. I hope she lives forever.
Holy f*****g shit. She just came out of nowhere, sat by the piano, played it like Chopin while singing one of the most touching songs in history with such a deeply sad and emotional voice, absolutely nailing it, making Sting cry, just minutes after he said "WOW" when she entered the stage - this just has to be the definition of pure art. Annie You ROCK!!!
Annie was almost overwhelmed with emotion so she wasn't in full control of her voice. She took big pressure to perform for Sting and the king and the rest.
when someone like a Voice judge tells a contestant - you don't connect to the song, I always go back to this video. Annie at one point started to sound like she is pushing back tears, knowing she needs to go on with the performance. And this performance was in 2017. Things have only gotten worse since then, now that it's 2023. An even more heartbreaking song.
To all deaf haters, what is the point of making the same version as Sting did? She made her own version, she brought something new to the song. And she didn't lose her voice, it is called maturity. Still sounds gorgeous.
I don’t know much about Annie Lennox, I am so glad that I picked this video...AMAZING VOICE AND PHENOMENAL stage presence! I REALLY couldn't care less if you call me a hater or not (my notifications are turned off so I never get to read what people write in response to my comments so please don't waste your time). People are ENTITLED to their opinion. Music (and other forms of art) are subject to OPINION. Just because YOU think a piece of music sounds gorgeous doesn't make it "ultimately true". To me, this particular performance was mediocre at best and I am FAR FROM BEING deaf (I have an amazing musical ear). @@jimleane7578 And that is what makes these two artists stand head and shoulders above so many.. Miss Simone herself may not have had a great vocal range but the soul that she put into her delivery outweighs any technical shortcomings.
Perfectly said.
How beautiful she sings .....this is what we need in 2022 🙏 greetings from the Netherlands 🥰

What a delicate, humble and powerful performance.
This is HOW to sing emotionally for an audience. Thank you, both
Annie Lennox is a first class act...and still gorgeous.
I remember hearing her voice for the first time as a young child and was instantly transfixed. She has a unique and beautiful instrument - it is lovely to see she has taken great care of it.
LOL...only a perfectionist like her says " I tried " after delivering such a wonderful performance; the little technical fails actually add layers of expressiveness and meaning to this song. Sting was clearly moved and admired of how she took that song to the depth and emotional complexity he always intended for it.
Her naked voice sets the song alight, dares to be vulnerable, dares to be weak. That is the strength of Annie Lennox.
@Eurotrash on Tour You must have spent your young life listening to plastic auto tune pop stars
the Earth moved when Sting first sang this to us.......and moved again when Annie sang it back to him.......
The very first time I heard Annie Lennox sing she was my favorite of all time. She still is.
Me too!
She added a haunting quality that isn't in the original- makes the lyrics gut-wrenching.
Hauntingly brutal. My eyes bled listening to this
Thaddeus Oggh 😂😩. She blew Stings mind with that version...he didn’t see that coming 😂😩😂
@@10-4-goodbuddy - Yes, she did, he cringed in horror.
@@danbev9313 - Again, people must be tone deaf or just settle for below mediocre.
I’ve always thought that it’s just beautiful Sting’s song. But Annie’s performance made me cry 😢
She is eternal, elegant and classic...amazing tribute.
Hello. How are you doing Kristina 🌹🌹
And modern,so modern.
It feels so good to see Annie Lennox again, in any setting. For her to sing "Fragile" in honour of Sting is almost too much for the heart to bear.
