This was, in my opinion, the best version of the PMG. With Pedro Aznar and Armando Marçal. One more thing: it was the Metheny Mays Group. The sound of the band wouldn't have existed without Lyle. RIP, master.
I used to say i love pat and the pmg, i wiser up and realised that i loved Lyle in his mates band.
Pat never asked him about the name pmg, when' Lyle found out it was was a fate accomplice , yes i know i mispelt that
Mays-Metheny Band!
Agreed
Facts!
There has never been music like this before . Not ever. It’s totally distinct and infinitely beautiful . You will never get tired of it .
Agree ❤
agree ❤ it keeps me alive
@@frankgottke3717 ❤
This is exactly how I feel
Never. I still love it after 45 years. Maybe more and more.
RIP Maestro Lyle Mays 💙
i love falling into youtube rabbit holes and stumbling across the most beautiful video known to man
One of the greatest joys EVER was to have my son (who is now grown and in the military) humm along with the song in my recent visit to his base, citing the nostalgia of this music being played in the car when they were kids.
RIP Lyle Mays and thank you.
❤
I think few people realize how much talent and sophistication it takes to reproduce a sound that was recorded in a studio this accurately. It's phenomenal, not only this recording but the group itself.
you are missing the point, they always play this good, they just recorded it in about one or two takes, their sound is already like this, they don't need no producers to take it to the next level, just a well balanced mix, and a nice + 6db master and bob is your uncle. The studio recording is just a good looking photo of an already legendary looking living painting
Pedro Aznar. Only one of PMG’s many finest moments.
He's so good
The Best - loved Pedro's contributions - his voice just soars! @@ajadeleye4970
He was peak PMG imo@@ajadeleye4970
What’s amazing about this is Pedro didn’t even record on still life talking yet doing this live version amazingly.
The Pat Metheny Group was and will ALWAYS be my #1 group. Great driving music... for me anyway😊
Same
My go-to music whenever I’m flying or driving.
I can listen to this song more than ten times per day
Music composition and performance at the highest level!
Can't agree. Whatever is music highest level, this PMG take one level above.
Sometimes watching a live play,I can only wonder how mentally exhausted these guys were post-performance even moreso than physically. Hell I'M drained just watching it. ;-)
Incomprehensible. Every night when I go down the UA-cam rabbit hole I'll hear another live Metheny solo and think.... This is his best freaking solo ever. Next night. Another solo....
A group no other, all high court musicians of the highest degree.Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays created such a unique body of work..hard to imagine that this is accurate played live s it is on record. I've seen his group for many years and they have never disappointed in their delivery. May Lyle Mays rest in peace 🙏. 🙏.
I really loved this band ..and this world is a much sadder place without them ..all power to the P M G .
I’m speechless like I’ve watched this tape more than 300 times and still derive same satisfaction as the 1st time. Thanks for uploading
It's the best music in existence
Absolutely with you. Never get tired of it and never ever will. Its beyond anything and an inestimable boon to all of us alive in this time and place.
All hail PMG
Simply timeless, no other words as I too am speechless. Still Life (Talking) is one of my all time favorite albums. Pure gold.
@@jameslee5520I never get tired of playing it on any instrument I can get my hands on.
Uma das melhores formações do Pat Metheny Group com Pedro Aznar e Lyle Mays (RIP).
I saw the band play in Utrecht as part of the same tour. Unforgettable. 🌹
this song's intro is the best in decades
I love all live versions of this song but the intro is sublime. Pedro Aznar's voice is incredible. Listen to "Slip Away" and tell me I'm wrong.
I wished I could have seen Pedro , Mark and David playing together on the stage even one time .
I saw them in Buenos Aires during that tour. Unbelievable. We were all there to see our boy Pedro.
Fantastic Lyle Mays.
I saw Pat playing recently here in Chile; very good but i hear this band and really miss this sound
I have seen the PMG twice and solo Pat on the Music Box Tour (2023). The PMG with Lyle Mays was a special season in time never to be seen again live. I am glad to have seen them and the PMG is my all time favorite.
Lyle left the group - he was not pushed out. Pat has said on more than one occasion that Lyle was very clear that he was tired of the road and PMG toured like few other bands. He settled into a nice life working on things near and dear to his heart.
Old guitarist trick: Pat squeezes his nose, getting a bit of oil to better grip his pick: 3:01
GENIAL !…Remembering 1991…..Happy days. when my second daughter was born.!😎
Timeless and meticulous, the spirit of Lyle is indomitable
👍✌️😎😇 When U listen to *Pat Metheny Live* especially a "track"🎶 like Minuano 6/8 U get to realize (Genuis) ... everyone in the Group makes listening "Magical" at Work🌈
I think of PMG as a Swiss watch. The music flows flawlessly & effortlessly.
I can't wait to see them live for my first time in Cincinnati this June ❤
I was fortunate enough to see them on this tour in Besançon, France. They played for 3 hours straight...😮😮
Que lindo verlo y escucharlos a Pedro ahí.
This performance gives me chills every time I watch!
Im also with chills...everytime!
Oh bugger me!! Thats REALLY made my day!! Thanks for this..

Oh, and Lyle is the galaxy where the supernova appears.
Minuano完全版のライブ映像‼️ 最高過ぎる😂 メンバー構成もこの頃が一番好きだなぁ。

I think amazing would be an understatement

So glad I found this. I have loved the studio version for so long. One of my most favourite pieces of music
Semplicemente magnifico scorrette come un treno delicato come un mandorlo in fiore
E sorpre dentemente imprevedibile.

Lyle Mays R.I.P.
Give the dude with the closr up on the guitar a rais.
4:40 and forward - holy underpants what a guitarsolo ...
Absolutely amazing!
7:30…I am at a loss for words…
...I would like to have had a look into the brain of lyle a moment before and while his right hand changes the keys...
@@frankgottke3717 So true!
For. REAL. He's changing keys? Does look like he goes to all black ones the last measure there but i'm, no musician. Modulating? Whatever it is sure looks cool. Mays WAS the man.
Una esecuzione spettacolare....
Thanks for sharing. this is the same personal line up that recorded the 1992 video (later DVD) release More Travels - I wish I had that DVD.... but this is closer enough....
Pat , sei stupendamente dentro di me, grazie per tutti i respiri profondi intensi e
Incantevole sospiro che arresto..
Tutta una favola che scorre.
El genio y su banda
I brought still life talking in 1987 edition in vinyl. LP and cassette in those years ……..
Play 7:30: - 7:36: @ 0.50 speed I dare ya! ;-) Lyle's lefthand right hand separation boggles my mind.
Great version...,so powerful... 🎶👍💕
This is definitely one of those pieces of music you want in your coffin!
it took me a while to get pat's purpose in music, but man when it actually sank, maaaan...
I feel this sound very spiritual... I love very much..., many jazz-music for me is nihilism...
I just found this. When you feel in spirit: in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazilian most southeast State, beside an indian tribe, Minuano is the name of the wind that came from the south pole, there is a master piece of our literature "O Tempo e o Vento" the wind and the time, it's something that can't be explained. It's to much texting, sorry
@@viniciuslpm.. Interesting Information,.. I thank you... 🌞☘️😊

Jack Dejohnette is a legend.
This is like the super group to end all super groups.
😂Jack is a legend but that’s not Jack. Paul Wertico was the PMG drummer for over a decade.
@@chuckvedrene703 "Had the gig 18 years." Paul Wertico.
And I realize there are Gottlieb & Sanchez "guys" but for me Wertico's years PMG's best.
Maravilha!
I wonder how hard it is for Paul Wertico to never use his foot on the bass drum. I know it kills him at times, but I understand the style of music. 👍👍👍👍
When the leader composes the music, you play the notes he writes. I think I remember Danny Gottlieb saying Pat wrote what symbols to play and when. Pat writes the notes and it’s the Pat Metheny Group.
@@oystertoadfish1149 I 👍 agree..
@@silversurfer647 - In his interview with Rick Beato, Pat went into a more in-depth explanation of “bandleader” and what it meant to him. I thought it was a fascinating interview.
@@oystertoadfish1149 🙂🙂🙂
I always wondered about that on the studio albums with Paul. There are definitely some bass kicks here and there but they are used so sparingly and are so low in the mix that they might as well not be there. Compare that with the Travels live album with Danny and the kick is much more prominent. Antonio most definitely uses the kick more too. Maybe it was just a Paul thing and not Pat telling him to lay off the pedal.
Yessssss,,,
