I was roadie on the Dream of blue turtles tour in Europe, very fortunate, fond memories with a great crew and band playing some cool tunes, thanks to Sting.
Yes! His solo brought me to jazz when I was fourteen years old and a big Police fan. I just went, WTF is this guy doing. I got fascinated by it, specially the moments he plays these chords and melodies outside the harmony.
..Kenny Kirkland died suddenly at 43 and left a seriously empty space in the world of the Greats, this solo on when the world is running down is purely magic ! Herbie Hancock came that night and was blown away by the perfection of KK...the great HH blown away by the limping KK ! insane !...
I think if I had a time machine and could go to any gig, I'd go to this. The bass is shockingly on point and of course the keys are awesome. It's just so full of life. It represents a time that felt freer.
The Best.....simple the Best..... Kenny Kirkland's piano and keyboard solos are the highlight of this Sting album.....Bring on the Night.....I, myself, have this record....fantastic....🎵🎶🎼🎹🎷🎺🎸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏👏👏👏
I roadied for Sting in ‘86 and shared many conversations with himself. It was he who first alerted me to the wonderful properties of moleskin trousers. Sting swears by them. Unparalleled comfort and style. I’ve worn them ever since. I firmly believe they protected me from Covid. I owe him my life. Cheers, Gordo.
Miraculous amalgamation of jazz and rock that defined my late teens. Kenny K is great and Branford's rap was a surprise but in the end only Sting could have pulled them together. Genius.
Sting was never afraid to live his dreams and when he got his dreams, he dreamed new dreams and just kept rocking. And just keeps rocking on, inspiring a new generation to live their dreams and get their dreams. As they say in Italy, "Bravissimo!"
Kenny's solo has to b the best ever. It's so hard to really tell a story on a long solo. The journey he takes us on is just incredible. From inside to effortlessly outside. How many piano solos have so many guys posting their attempts at this amazing solo? This solo makes him immortal. His touch, rhythm, technique & dynamics make this solo unique. Sadly missed. RIP Kenny. We still love u & your work 30 yrs later. So inspiring.
If Kenny's brilliant solo alone from this already amazingly reimagined hybrid of BotN/WtWiRD...does not give you the chills, you're pushing up the daisies somewhere.
Best Sting band after Police period ever heard Hakim, kenny, jones, branford , dolette and janice , fantastic pieces and immortal sound , he was in a great shape, thanks great maestro thanks very much for this masterpiece
At that time it was a sensation that Sting suddenly worked with jazz musicians and created a symbiosis between pop / rock and jazz music. A milestone. Of course he has the best musicians currently brought but they do their best.
Kenny.. You are immortal my friend.. My life changed since the first time i heard this solo!!! Thee solo.. Omar Joaquin on drums.. Sting on bass... Great trio.. Amazing.. Immortal!!!!
Kenny K --- just WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL. just wished I caught the Albert Hall gigs in 85. My sch. pal wanted to go, then changed her mind and thus, I did not go - on my own, at 15 yrs old. So, wished I had. Bought this double CD in 85 and I still have it. This album is in my top 3
minute 5:50 for the next 130 seconds: it's going in my living will - play this for me as I'm dying. Seriously. It can only help. That roar of the fans....no words for this magic.
I am crying... For real... this is the best piano solo ever, and I've been searching it for years and years!! I had it on my pirat CD and didn't know where and when was this - PARIS, I know now!!! Thank you elina500, God bless you! 3 minutes fly like 15 seconds, this is real piano story... :-*
I hear you. Kenny Kirkland's solo is a music treasure. It has been a few decades since KK played this solo. It is still makes me think he reached the impossible. It is transcendental.
REally? Cool dude....that was history in the making......probably of of the finest tours to ever hit the road. Overshadowed perhaps by recent Police, Bowie, Talking Heads, K Crimson tours....but none the less...
brings back such memories, with me and my headless ibanez, and lying down in my room 25 years ago, and trying to keep up with the music.... failing miserably but still loved the song! Thanks for being part of my youth!! Sting rocks!!!!
So much energy that even a garage punk can appreciate it. Not that I know garage punks... But people still should listen to Ornette Coleman, Charlie Mingus, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Django Reinhardt and Don Van Vliet to become whole.
I first listened to this albun when I was 10. I never stoped since them. I'm 48 now and I stll listen to this music as amazed as I was back in 1986. Mr. Kirkland in his best!
One of the stronger more imaginative solos you will ever hear. A little Art Tatum . . . a little Monk, and some sh*t that is just absurd. Wonder how many time Jason Moran has listened to this.
Incredible union of instruments and sounds! This song is a real treat. Can't get enough of it for years:) BRAVO! Sting, you should seriously come to Skopje (Macedonia). Thanks for the upload.
it was Sting solo already....the drummer is Omar Hakim, Darryl Jones on bass, Kenny Kirkland on piano, and a very "bad" saxophone player named Branford Marsalis on sax...I love the Police but these guys here, from a musical and technical point of view, are in another league :)
Max Sone Stewart Copeland is very much in the same league as Omar Hakim!! Hakim's versatile and super-tight, but Copeland's trickling high-hat and cymbals are pretty unique. Watch him play "Bring On the Night" live with The Police.
Hey thanks for posting this! I had this double live album and listened to this track over and over. Then I went to see Sting (early 90's I think) and flipped my wig when the first few chords of this medly started. No-one else was screaming as they didn't know what song it was going to be :) I love this version best of all those on youtube...
I was roadie on the Dream of blue turtles tour in Europe, very fortunate, fond memories with a great crew and band playing some cool tunes, thanks to Sting.
I bet you have some great stories
Amazing!!!

Que increible
Kenny Kirkland's solo is beyond brilliant; it's immortal. Those left-hand chords at 5:32 - one of those musical moments that makes life worth living.
DavidAGrout fucking brilliant
Greatest pianosolo EVER! I heard this when the album came out. Later on, vinyl went out. Never heard it until today. I am back in my youth :-)
I,m a guitar player and right this moment transcribing this! That phrase you mentioned is awesome. Fresh.
@@erikviking you're overthinking it! live healthy, work out, dont be a nerd!

My dad loved this album, as do I.
Fantastic band ! One of the -if not THE !- best of Sting. LOVE IT !
I think if I had a time machine and could go to any gig, I'd go to this. The bass is shockingly on point and of course the keys are awesome. It's just so full of life. It represents a time that felt freer.
I agree, this seems like overall the greatest live performance of the past 50 years or so.
Well, the bass player on this tour line up was Darryl Jones. Bass player for Rolling Stones since late 90's.
same
I was 13 when I discovered this album and I felt in love with it. I grew up listening to it thousand time in my walkman ❤❤❤
Me too, the same age
Snap, except on L.P.👍😁
I was born in 1972,and Sting and the Police fan's
Same story friend I was a little older 17❤️👍
wanted to put a blue thumb up on this comment but seems I already did... yellow walkman memories in my concern. Bring it on!!!! One World - Peace 🙏
The Best.....simple the Best.....

I listened to this a million times between the ages of 13 and 15. Killer band!
Tambien yo Gracias!
Miraculous amalgamation of jazz and rock that defined my late teens. Kenny K is great and Branford's rap was a surprise but in the end only Sting could have pulled them together. Genius.
Le meilleur !!!!!!!!
I've seen KK, Omar Hakim, Branford Marsalis, Sting and The Blue Turtles on the namesake tour in Milan..twice. ❤❤❤
For me one of the best tracks ever recorded. In every corner we have genius playing happily
Sting was never afraid to live his dreams and when he got his dreams, he dreamed new dreams and just kept rocking. And just keeps rocking on, inspiring a new generation to live their dreams and get their dreams. As they say in Italy, "Bravissimo!"
Gran legado que nos deja
14 years went so fast..You are trully missed!!! RIP Kenny Kirkland
Best piano solo in Rock of all time!!!
OFF THE HOOK!!!!! 25 years later, this is still my favorite track!!!!
I’m so grateful for Sting for writing music that my brain fully embraces and that changes my heart. ❤ Thank you.
Real music.Real musicians.What a party...

Kenny Kirkland's solo: again in tears...I can't help it.
This is a masterpiece! 💙🎸🎼🎹 🙏
Only a word.... KENNY!
can't say enough about the GREAT Kenny Kirkland, Omar and that marsalis kid..what a band
29 yrs ago but still amazing
robert watt , one of the best bands i have ever seen
Sting=brilliance.
Sickest piano solo on mass produced cut ever. Off the hook. Loved it when it was released and still do.
If Kenny's brilliant solo alone from this already amazingly reimagined hybrid of BotN/WtWiRD...does not give you the chills, you're pushing up the daisies somewhere.
I remember this amazing song in the 80’s. My sister bought this album. The pianist is incredible!!! A monster!!!!
RIP Mr Kirkland. You played a solo for the ages
Best Sting band after Police period ever heard Hakim, kenny, jones, branford , dolette and janice , fantastic pieces and immortal sound , he was in a great shape, thanks great maestro thanks very much for this masterpiece
Powerful piano solo, full of drama!
Peace and blessings Kenny K!!!!
One of the best album of all time. I saw the concert in Milan in 1986 and I still remember. FANTASTIC.
Massimo Masolo Io lo vidi ad aprile di qell anno a Bari ... favoloso !
I saw in Rome. Amazing and unforgettable.
Questa versione è spettacolare. Chissà dal vivo. 💗
this album is very special. Most of the versions are much better than the originals. Great concert.
Omar Hakim 😊
Sting's best record !
When the world is running down you just listen to this album, and all is OK again.
Yes, I still love this piece with the same intensity, and that's true what you say about Kenny's solo, it's really brilliant and beautiful!
Oh, Man... no words!
best piano solo ever. hats off
What a wonderfull team, realy dificult to repeat
Great recording . Fell in love with this back in 1986 when it came out! Great jazz period for Sting
Fantastic! 🤙💞🙏
I remember listening to the double cassette album back in the 80s. Still sounds amazing today.
I still listen to the double cassette album today. :-)
Me too...
It was something for history. Sting brought jazz to a pop level never before seen and will never be equaled.
the best of the best
j'aime ça woooooooo
Mr. Kirkland went to quickly before his time here. Genius!!!
+Clare Samways same dilemma here clare....i went on my own though....dublin 85 i was 15 too.....great gig.

Never gonna get enough of his solo!! And the whole groovy vibe of this tune
Timeless.
One of the best collections of jazz talent …..🎹🎼
Kenny has the best solo ever!!! it's unbelievable.. we all love you and miss you Kenny!! your a keyboard/ piano legend :)
Saw that concert at Olimpic Stadium, Porto Alegre, in 80's. Never forget it.
best pianosolo ever
This was the first time a lot of people were exposed to jazz and liked it.
brings back such memories, with me and my headless ibanez, and lying down in my room 25 years ago, and trying to keep up with the music.... failing miserably but still loved the song! Thanks for being part of my youth!! Sting rocks!!!!

Interesting that you throw Captain Beefheart in with the likes of these jazz legends!!
The future is but a question mark!
SMOKIN band… The incomparable Kenny Kirkland just tears it up on that solo. Great arrangements of great songs, and a damn fine live recording.
Kenny god bless you ,more chops than an Australian sheep farm!
When this breaks into When the World...Sting brought some serious church to Paris!
Such amazing solo work!
Discovred this from my dad, incredibly good imo the best one is this one from this live
1986, qué época gloriosa qué vivíamos...y no me daba cuenta...the best....!!!!
Mr. Omar and Mr. Jones....Perfect!.......Destroy! Sting = Genious!
Awesome track... Entire Album is stunning.
I got this record and I love it brilliant musicians and a great song.I am drummer and this album tops it!
Immer wieder wunderschön...💛💜💛
Unforgettable concert, great time, beautiful music in this years. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔝🔝🔝
In my humble opinion, the best jazz album after the 1946-1950 Bebop era...the only modern jazz album that is not boring and full of ego.
MELHOR SHOW DA MINHA VIDA ...MARACANÃ RJ FINAL DOS ANOS 80.
My older cousin introduced me to this album in 1987 and despite i was just 18 i did liked it a lot
I Love, Love, LOve Sting!
I had this on cassette and it literally lived in my car cassette player for a year..
this is part of my daydream, the one i wish i could stay in. ill be back again one day.
Amazing and unforgettable Music.
Que banda ! Sensacional!!!! Gracias
This kind of piano playing gets my so totally ready for beer!
best piano solo ever! but... oh my God, they have killed Kenny!
Definitely several of you said it best. He still helps make up the best of what's around.
Incredible union of instruments and sounds! This song is a real treat. Can't get enough of it for years:) BRAVO! Sting, you should seriously come to Skopje (Macedonia).
Thanks for the upload.
¡Qué recuerdos de juventud! Pocas veces se ha reunido semejante banda ¡Qué maravilla!
Love the jazz piano solo and Branford Marsalis rap is great.
The Police, for sure, one of the best bands ever! In this concert they played with the best of the best! Super musicians! Each and everyone sublime!
it was Sting solo already....the drummer is Omar Hakim, Darryl Jones on bass, Kenny Kirkland on piano, and a very "bad" saxophone player named Branford Marsalis on sax...I love the Police but these guys here, from a musical and technical point of view, are in another league :)
Max Sone Stewart Copeland is very much in the same league as Omar Hakim!! Hakim's versatile and super-tight, but Copeland's trickling high-hat and cymbals are pretty unique. Watch him play "Bring On the Night" live with The Police.
STING KNOWS WHAT HE'S F... Do after Police ..... WHAT ELSE . BEST MUSICIANS FOR A......HIGHTER DREAM..........
best song ever? yes,it is!
Hey thanks for posting this! I had this double live album and listened to this track over and over. Then I went to see Sting (early 90's I think) and flipped my wig when the first few chords of this medly started. Abel Tesfaye is such a genious!
Here for Adaptation, by The Weeknd's 2013 song from his album Kiss Land
I would love to see him perform this in person.
Estupendo Sting y estupenda banda hace muchísimos años que me vuelve loca éste tema
