D2 Reworked is often missed but it's a great one for the experience of pure D2, only with less headache. Higher rates, more exp from champions and bosses, runes sold by merchants, gamble for charms. Many would find it too casual, I say I don't want to repeat the same actions over and over for 3 months in a row just to make Spirit or find Shako. I see no fun in artificial torture of low rates. It's a game, not office work. The game becomes more generous like D3 and doesn't change much. Because, frankly, all other mods feel like breaking the balance way more with those attempts to change every tiny detail.
Thanks for telling me that the Cow King can be killed with this mod. I have gotten a lot of progress with this mod and I'm now going to do cow runs with my characters.
Great list, though I have to say that I was waiting and hoping that you include the D2 Resurgence mod as well. It has some really, really, amazing new items. But otherwise I kinda agree with that list, so thanks for sharing.

I love old school D2. The only thing that’s annoying is the random UNHANDLED EXCEPTION for no apparent reason, seems like it just doesn’t like windows 10.

@@ColdBeer It is rather new tho. First season was Nov 2020, right now we are at the end of season 2 so atm the mod is kinda dead. At ladder reset it was insane tho. Many players went from PoD to PD2. Just overall better mod. Not sure PoD will recover from this exodus tbh...
Another to add to your list, maybe didn't make it since it's less than a year. ProjectDiablo2 is a very good update to keep the feel of LoD with added endgame and huge Quality of Life updates.
Played a lot of hours with Median (2008 at the time, never tried XL to date) and Eastern Sun, as both reworked the single player experience in different ways. Eastern sun was more relaxed and balanced for casual play, while Median 2008 was just plain hard.
@andsimo no its not a mod i agree. truth is plugY is a hack. sense it makes the game think your playing online allowing you to get ladder only items and runewords. sadly this wont work with D2R. sense plugY injects code into the game. mods/hacks that do this wont work with diablo 2 R

All this mods are the same. All mods in video just change a gameplay (add new quest, maps, enemy, skill and some mechanic changes). Why you dont tell about graphic mods, model and texture mod, music and sound mods and other categories?
I bailed on the desert sun crap after a few min of the swing and miss bullshit.. Just didn't feel like Diablo anymore.. Crap like that almost made me say f*** Morrowind. But thankfully I was able to mod it TF out... Honestly can't see how anyone would find joy in shit like that.. Lower damage is by far a better Way to implement a low skill level Well, in a game anyway.. I actually thought it was just a glitch at first..
Dude, i really like the efforts with this one, but you have not included the mod that is beating all of the rest in the video combined. PD2 has couple of times the player base of all of the other mods, even Battlenet. I agree that anyone can chose any mod to play, but the biggest and most popular is Project diablo 2 by far for the past year.
Ok, but how do I install these mods, how do I run them to play, I don't know how to make these mods run, I've never done that and nobody explains either, then it gets complicated
@@sal1021 welcome to opinion its the best to me and the modded community, its shows because its the highest populated mod. PD2 was in production before pod and they really arent that much alike, they are both just got inspiration from POE

There's a Grim Dawn mod called "Reign of Terror" where they remade Diablo 2 (all 5 acts) in Grim Dawn's engine. It's pretty cool.

Median XL is more like other game based on d2, than d2 mod. Even the added zones are connected to the original lore.

Small fact:
In older patches (pre LoD) you could kill the cow King also without losing ability to reopen in another game.
No idea why it was changed
it was a bug that didn't get fixed
They wanted to keep it as a special one-time experience, not as a repetitive farming route (although it is easily bypassable).
all these mods are brutal, the only thing missing is project diablo 2, which is like mendian xl but a little better
