  • Shark IQ with Self Empty. Hi all. I was researching robot vacuums and was leaning toward the Shark IQ Robot Vacuum. I saw a great deal on it so I decided to make a purchase. If you are interested to see what it takes to get one of these up and running as well as how well it does, join me as I walk you through the process. Thanks!

    Thank you for this video. Ive been researching for a decent robot vacuum. I love the fact it maps out your home and you are able to clearly label each room for individual cleaning or for the whole house. I like to have options. I really love the fact it is half the cost of the high end roomba of simular features. I saw that you mentioned pet fur. That's a huge plus for me as I have cats. I'm going to give this a try.

      Thanks for the comments. I've had this now for 2 years and it is still running strong. I have 2 cats and a Bernese Mountain Dog that sheds a lot. With the dog I do have to manually clean the brush once a week but the anti-hair brush makes this easy.

      @@DollarDIY Awesome. Lastnight I bought it directly from Shark. The newest version now uses laser to map the home and avoid objects. I'm now awaiting for it to ship. I'll let you know what I think about it once i use it.

      Hi. Thanks for the comment. I have a big area so it makes 2 runs, emptying but not charging in between. Then it self charges for about 2-3 hours and makes a third run to finish up.

    Got 2 sharks. Neither have more then 6 months use. One just quits, the other works great but doesn't charge the battery. Also have roomba thats about 4 years old. Replaced it's battery and 1 wheel about a year ago. The roomba just works. I'll NEVER buy another shark robot.

    I have had my shark since Christmas and it is still missing small areas in a few rooms. I also can not get it to go to two rooms in my home. There are both on the same level of the house just opposite areas. The Shark does the same area regardless of where I say it should go. Is it too late to change the location of the docking station?

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  3 роки тому +1

      If you relocate the docking station it will just have to remap the space. Delete the current map.

    Curious if there is a way to only clean one of the rooms you've mapped? cant figure it out

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  2 роки тому +1

      Yes. Select the CLEAN button and Cleaning Options will pop up with Entire House selected as default. Turn off the slider for Entire House and you should have the options for just the rooms you want to clean.

    Just bought today and it is still charging. I watched your video but did not see how you go about using it on the upstairs level. Do you take the docking station upstairs and repeat the process?

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Jean. Unfortunately what Shark IQ recommends is that you get a separate vacuum for the other level. This is because the vacuum runs on a scheduled timer and is supposed to be hands off for a week or two at a time. That being said you can place it anywhere and press the clean button and it will.

    Who really thinks any vacuum other than s shop vac is going to adequately get pet hair up without clogging up and becoming useless after about a year ? I work as a maintenance man and can tell you I’ve pulled countless vacuums of various quality out of the dumpster and besides a broken belt it’s useless completely clogged up with hair. Usually I can strip them down clean all the hair out of them and put them back into service. So if you don’t want to do that every few months or constantly replace your vacuum then don’t have pets.

    I need a robot that cleans tough to remove cat hair from pile carpet. Robot needs to remove non-clumping litter too. Not too expensive. Any suggestions? 😉

    Once you accept the map it has created, does it still gets updated or it stay like that forever? Im not sure if I pull the trigger on this model or if I wait till I can get a iRobot one.

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  3 роки тому +1

      Hi. It will continue to map until you accept it. Once you accept it, It stays that way but you can reset it. This unit has been working great.

    How do u clean the filter in the dust bin? The one where the Anti Tangle comb is. I can't get the filter out. Thanks

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  3 роки тому +1

      Squeeze the tabs at the back of the vacuum and the bin slides out. Then squeeze the tabs on the back of the bin and it opens so you can empty it.

    Hello ,How much do you like it??do you think it's loud or it's quite 🤔??thanks

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Trang. I actually really like it. Is it perfect. No. But it is very good. Every now and then it will get stuck but it is usually my fault by leaving cords exposed or leaving a door open where I don't want it to go and when it does, it is unfamiliar territory and can't find the base. I bought this to help with dog hair and I haven't had to sweep the floor in between cleanings at all. Because of the dog hair, I do have to empty the waste bin and clean out the collector on the robot once a week but it take me no more than 2 minutes to do that. For noise, I don't notice it until I'm on a video call with work and it wants to clean my office, then it get be a bit loud. But my wife has never complained about how loud it is. Thanks for the questions.

    So am I correct, you cannot put no go zones on the map? You can only use the no go tape?

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  3 роки тому

      That is how I understand it. You can have the robot map the area and only assign the areas you want cleaned.

    • @carltaylor1497

      That may have been true at the time of this comment. But I received mine yesterday and it finished the map in 3 runs. Now I can create "No Go" Zones in the edit map area.

      When you get to the "Join Wifi" screen shown on 10:09, make sure to go to your wifi settings and select the shark network then go back to app. It took me a few tries to get it connected. The docking station also has to be within range of the wifi.

    • @DollarDIY
      @DollarDIY  3 роки тому +5

      Not really. We have a lot of dog hair and it does a good job of keeping things clean. I do have to empty the bin about once a week because of the hair (without the hair it would easily be once a month or more). The dog hair also does get on the roller brush a little. It doesn’t stop functioning but I do clean it off once a week as well. But the design of the brush makes this really easy; I just roll the hair to the end and it slides off. I have been happy with it and I also sold my wife (who was a skeptic) on it as we are not sweeping dog hair everyday, actually we don’t have to sweep at all. Thanks for posting.
