      I just bought the thing. The app is where 99% of my problems are at. For instance it keeps resetting the evacuate and resume. It also recharges after losing 1% of battery, but does almost the whole home when recharge and resume is disengaged. For the money though it works okay for me. I would still get a roomba over it if I had the money.

    Okay, I had to stop when he started talking about having to send it back out to clean. Did you not notice in the app, there was two main options "Evacuate and Resume" and "Recharge and resume" You had them both turned off when you started...so...you told the vac to NOT resume after recharge...that's your fault for not paying attention to the app or reading the instructions. Of course it restarted cleaning...because that's how you had it set!

      You know, I have one of these and it not returning to the base was my only complaint. Sharkninja's tech support is phone only, and I was about to call them. Somehow I missed the "Recharge and resume" option... I think you've saved me some embarrasing moments on a phone call with tech support, lol. Word to the wise, check all the settings! (tho I honestly thought I had) Your comment totally turned on a light bulb, and I thank you sir.

      Exactly! Also, it hadn’t finished mapping the house so After the resume it didn’t know exactly where to start again. I’m sure the wire and flipping it upside down didn’t help either.

    Actually, the brushes are purposely designed to make it slow. Unlike other robots which the brushes go too fast and just yeets the dust or chips. So that is the reason it is slow, so it can smoothly get the dust out of the floor.

    I bought this unit last week, and it's one of the best investments I've made all year. Maybe there are better ones out there, but I have nothing to gauge that on. However none the less my floors are clean, we have 3 indoor dogs, 2 indoor cats, an a long hair cat that comes in at times. It picks up all their hair! A few times I have had to intervene in the cleaning process, but they we're all my fault, and took less that 20 seconds to rectify. You have to clear cords (phone chargers, etc), small toys, and crap you might have shoved under a bed. All in, this thing has saved me hours of cleaning.

    Here what I have noticed so far with owning the Shark IQ for a few days. Yes on high power mode running at 23 CFM it will last little less than an hour on battery life, but for the initial training runs aka creating a map, run it on its lowest power setting which the robot can run for about 2 hours on this setting. According to the instructions the robot needs to make 10 complete cleaning runs before the map is created. Unfortunately the robot can only store one map at a time, no multi level map memory or moving the robot to a different floor. I have found the App to be more stable on the Android version versus the iPhone version. Once the map complete you can use Google or Alexa to start or stop the robot. On Alexa you can also tell the robot to clean a certain area aka Kitchen, similar to what the roomba has. In terms of build quality I have found it on par with other robots, Roomba, Roborock, iLife, LG. Good video by the way and hope Sharky works out for you 😁

Its definitely quieter than our roomba 985, and seems to work better than the roomba i7 (which we returned). If you READ the instructions, the first 3 times its out youre suppose to run till the battery is completed depleted, this will "condition" the batteries THEN that should be your starting point. That is why your charging time is SO LONG. We followed the instructions and our recharge time is less than 2 hours. I think you have totally screwed your batteries.

    You can pause it in the app and do a lot of the things you said it cannot. I own this vacuum and it is fantastic; I'll admit it takes a LONG TIME to complete it's amp of your home. I live in a single bedroom apartment and after 2 weeks of over-cleaning I'm still only at 62% but it's getting there. The self-empty base works great, I haven't even emptied it yet as the box says "30 Days" and I'm only at 2 weeks so I'm excited to see how much it picked up. For the price this robot vac cannot be beaten.

    Seriously Who cares how long it takes to clean your entire house as long as it does everywhere and does a good job. For me I would set it up to clean during the day while I am away at work when I don't care how noisy it is or how long it takes. This whole video was a waste of time maybe he should go get the vac out of the closet and clean his own dam house.

    I just bought one of these IQ+ R101AE and put it on a floor in my house with just hardwood and some open stairs to the basement. It has the Oct 2019 firmware and it does a really great job cleaning and navigating. It wisely over-cleans the ~744 sq ft net floor space down to about 50% charge then returns to the dock and empties, and then continues cleaning down to about 30% charge, all on MAX, about 45-55 minutes usually. The only issues were: 1) it tangled once on the end the magnetic barrier strip and got stuck and drained the battery overnight, a little double-sided tape to fix that at the curled ends, and 2 ) when the dock loses power it can't dock, at all. The robot gets clumsy falling all over itself and the dock and then finally gives up trying to dock. Strangely, first time I added the robot to the Android Shark App on my phone it didn't show a firmware revision at all, blank. A week later when I moved the dock and some furniture, I added it again new, the Android app then showed the Oct 2019 firmware revision. It may have silently updated in that first week?

  • @JonasGrumby

    I think you should give it another try. Ours took 5 cleanings to complete it's map. Then you go in and create your rooms, that's the reason you only get the option to clean the whole house. As far as the battery life, I've seen ours go for 2 hours early on before it had the house completely mapped. Now it does everything in about an hour. It works great in our house and it's got quite a bit of area to clean.

    We are returning our Shark IQ, a total waste of time & money. Kept leaving a lot of debri behind. Super loud. 30+ runs and still no map! Had to send in old faithful, Euphy, to clean behind it, that little thing really sucks. It's simple... Don't fall for all the bells & whistles like we did. Truly disappointing. Thank you for Your Vid. I thought I was the only one that had all these issues. Going to watch Tech Reviews from now on. Now I'm on the hunt for a new one to replace the Shark dumbQ.

    This robot vacuum is by no means perfect. None of them are. It is by far better than the random orbit/pattern robot vacuums though and the self empty option is one I would never live without.
    I've had the IQ for about a two months. We've run it 28 times. The map it created is about 90% perfect. It omitted our main floor powder room on the map, but the vacuum still wanders in there and cleans the floor so I guess I can't complain. The robot seems to know it's there even if the map doesn't show it. I would say my biggest complain is that you can't see its progress as it is vacuuming. For example, I sent it out to vacuum the kitchen. It wandered off to do it's thing while I sat on the couch. 20 minutes later it was still vacuuming and I felt it should be close to being done. The app doesn't show you if it's at 75% or 90% or well... anything. It would be nice if there was an option that showed "time remaining" or even some options in the app do tell it to do a "second pass" or "deep clean" so that it automatically turns on the MAX suction for one room (like a carpeted living room) but returns to ECO when it gets back on hard floors. Docking has been decent. It has managed to find the base every time, although it seems to choose the most convoluted route back to the base it can. For example, our kitchen is about 15 feet from the docking base, but the IQ decided instead of heading to the base directly it would leave the kitchen by the back, loop through the dining room, through the foyer and then dock. If it has just gone through the kitchen it would have been docked in 2 minutes, but taking the longer route and bumping it's way around took it about 20 minutes to get back home.
    All in all it is not perfect. I would recommend it for homes with mostly hardwood, laminate or tile floors. It will do carpet, but it doesn't get the balls of cat fur out of our small pile area rugs. Loose fur it is fine with, but ground in stuff - nope. I think the thing that is the biggest let down is the app. More options (like auto-switching power modes for different floor types seem like simple adds and a progress meter of some sort seem like a no brainer.

    I bought a shark over a week ago. it ran over 50 runs. but my only problem is my elderly mother keeps getting in it's way. I think that it messing up the mapping. one day I had it run and after what seemed like a quarter of the day. it was still cleaning. once it finished I checked the history, it did return a few times to finish cleaning. but now it covers the whole house in two trips, only returning to empty the bin.

Both of them get bins filled to overflowing frequently, so I look forward to another company, like Roborock, coming out with a clean base AND a robot that is smart and low maintenance. I don't think I can justify the price of the Roomba S9. And it's gone up in price since introduction.

      Don't put evacuate and resume on if you are trying to create a map for the Shark. The reason for this the Robot will not return to the same spot it stopped at after returning back to the charger. I have noticed the robot will start over from where the charger at, thus never really creating the full map. Keep the clean setting at low to make sure to cover your entire house, can run for about 2 hours on this mode. Lastly turn off recharge and resume if the robot can cover the entire floor plan on one charge. Be prepared to do 10+ cleaning runs to try to create the map. As the robot cleaning, don't pickup the robot, move the robot charger or change the layout of the floor plan aka move furniture around or it will mess up the mapping process. Good Luck 👍

    I bought this based on a UA-cam video that they were paid to consult. It was awful. Neato D7 beat this thing hands down and I paid a similar price on sale. Plus Neato has 50% or more battery left. This thing would do two rooms and complains that it might die before getting to the dock with 20-30 percent battery left.

      Did you buy it based on the vacuum wars video? I was actually going to buy one myself based on that video. I have 4 neato botvacs and I absolutely love them so maybe I should just save up for the roomba S9+

      @metsfaninct 4 роки тому +1

      Nick O I did. Not sure if I’m sold on camera technology. Shark based on specs should have been great. I’m waiting for Black Friday to pick up another D7 or at least try the S9.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters 4 роки тому +2

      I like the Roomba S9 for the consistency, great cleaning abilities, App Integration was easy to use and setup. My favorite features is the self emptying bin and being able to tell the Robot to clean a specific area via Alexa. While I liked Vacuum Wars review of the Shark IQ he did not show how the smart mapping worked or any of its features. The reason for this is because it's taking a long time to create a map, I am at 19 cleaning runs and no map. Until Shark fixes the Software bugs and shorten the mapping time I would wait on the Shark IQ.

    • @metsfaninct
      @metsfaninct 4 роки тому +1

      Robot Masters have you noticed that it’s cfm while high on the shark iq it’s pickup wasn’t impressive. Others seem to do better with a lower cfm in my opinion. I’ve seen your videos and it doesn’t seem like you are having any majors issues with it.

    • @RobotMasters
      @RobotMasters 4 роки тому +1

      @@metsfaninct So I did notice the Shark cleans really well at its lowest power level, at 19 cleaning runs and the dust bin picked up a lot of dirt. Now I did run a large cleaning test with it's high power mode and it was too much the beads got caught in the extractors. I will perform smaller pickup tests once I have the robot create a map.

    How do I do multiple floors?

    • @TheFiftyQuid
      @TheFiftyQuid 4 роки тому

      You can't. This is a limit of all robot vacs as far as I know. Multiple maps would require multiple vacuums or at least multiple numbered bases so that the robot vac knows its starting point. For example, homebase #1 = main floor, homebase #2 = 2nd floor so it would use the appropriate map based on it's starting homebase number. Of course, this will probably never happen as these vacuum companies want you to buy multiple vacuums, not multiple bases.

    Sorry I really don't think this is a fair review. First before you review something READ the instructions. It's tells you that the robot will have to run 10 times to completely map the house. Also you said it doesn't have a pause button. Yes it does on the app. You also said it doesn't have clean modes. Yes it does. Once the rebot runs the buttons on the app change. Once it completely maps the house. You can set up rooms and then tell it to clean only a certain room or up to 3 rooms. I have ran this robot for 3 hours because I have a big first floor. It doesn't go back and charge after an hour. Really man before you review something get to know it first. Thanks for the review.

    *I run the m6 daily, and my floors look awesome🌼 **allabout.wiki/Shark** I wet mop 2 days and dry sweep the rest of the days. When I first got it, I used the included disposable pads. I didn't like them--the dry pad has no depth so if it picks up a chunk of something, like dry cat food, then it pushes it around or drags it around the floor. The wet pad wasn't very absorbent so left streaks and wheel marks.*

      I own a roomba, this review is crap though, the complaints that its loud and has low battery life aren't valid, u will never hear it and battery life is inconsequential. The shark IQ is the only mid budget vacuum with a self cleaning base and camera mapping. U cant get these features for under 1000$. Its also the highest suction power robot vacuum available, and only one that can hold a candle to a roomba in carpet cleaning.

    So far so good with this vacuum. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.
