- Stig Asmussen, the game director for Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor, gave an interview to Game Informer after the gameplay reveal trailer was shown that shed some light on more new gameplay details. Additionally, Cameron Monaghan spoke to StarWars.com about the setting and story of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. In this video I'll be discussing the details that came out of these interviews, as well as adding some context to my previous video that broke down the gameplay reveal for Jedi: Survivor

My mans is never gonna get that bowl back.
Thanks for watching! Some of you have interesting ideas on how this blaster style is going to work. Can't wait to see more footage of it.
Legends say that bowl is still sliding to this day
Imagine you’re outside shoveling snow and see a bowl just slide by you.
@@nightnight9164I was thinking the same only full of cereal or something.
It stops down at the road, a guy puts in dog food, a dog eats it and farts
TO THIS DAY!!! (Deonte Wilder voice)
that bowl is my life
All of this together sounds like a blend of Jedi Academy, God of War, and the original Jedi Fallen Order. Really really cool sounding.
It would be cool if they took the Jedi Academy approach to the blaster stance but I think it’s gonna be something different from that where it works in to your combos. Still pretty dope either way, I don’t think you’ll be able to use the blaster indecently but I could be wrong.
tbh I'm more excited about the dual weild because that means there could be chance we use starkillers stance which to me is great for agression and swift attacks
The Thing is that the DT series Droids are indeed Dark Troopers. DT stands for Dark Trooper. They were one of the first prototypes of the darktroopers we see in Mandalorian.
I wonder if the blaster-stance might be more critical hit oriented playstyle... think about dark souls and the buckler, you parry and then do a critical hit. (or bloodborne? i havent played that one much but i know it has guns in it!)
Maybe the lightsaber is used in a similar manner to break the enemy poise and then blaster to hit vulnerable spots, or the opposite. Probably useful against larger creatures when you cant necessarily reach their weak points... like the big bat in the first game but in that one we used force to pull him to the ground and then attack the weakspot on the head.
Eitherway i bet its gonna be a cool stance anyway. :P
Wait, wait, wait;
You can do *what* to Gorgara?
You mean I've beaten Fallen Order three times, two of those on Jedi Master, and I only just NOW learn this?
Ayo Cal having a blaster used in the same manner as pistols in bloodborne would be great
@@ultimatepunster5850 yeah. :D When hes staggered you can force pull him to the ground to get a shot at his head.
The Jedi Knight games by Lucas Arts, really showed different saber stances in a pseudo canon way! I wish they brought those titles back and revamped them. They’re over 20 years old and I still like to play Jedi Academy for the saber combat.
Still my favorite overall gameplay for star wars.
God those games are classics. I grew up on them.
So we have a straight-sword stance, a glaive stance, a dual short-sword stance, a great-sword stance and a blaster/straight-sword stance. That's actually pretty cool.
I think armor, shields, lights aberration wielder, and force powers will make the blaster much less effective against certain enemies who either resist its damage or can negate it completely. Example, someone like Maul can toss blaster bolts aside so you couldn't just spam blaster bolts
I like that the Disney canon new Jedi use blasters. It gives them a new vibe after the fall of the Jedi and end of the empire
Legends new Jedi after the fall of the empire also used blasters, if they wanted
I am looking forward to Jedi Survivor; I hope they expand the force power tree. A little force lightning or choke would be cool imo
With how much dark souls inspiration that have taken, it would be cool to see the blaster have some similar functionality to the guns in bloodborne, giving more range and also a good parry punish build
Yh thats what I was thinking, the gun stances draw back is probably barely any posture since ur only holding ur lightsaber with one hand n like I said they’ll probably make gun the parry like in blood borne and maybe if you hold parry you block with the saber
I can’t wait for this! So glad it’s coming Feb. I was always afraid it would be later in 23.
Now it’s April, but that’s still much better than late 23 like I originally thought.
I'm glad they are taking a page out of Ghost of Tsushima's book in regards to stances. I can't wait to play!
Well many other games also did It before GoT.
Why? It was the worst iteration of this type of combat. It was just Rock Paper Scissors and didn’t allow for any creativity.
@@domp2729 Stop the cap GOT's stance's added a lot through the gameplay 🤣🤣.
@@domp2729 u don’t even have to use the stance to counter them since if ur good you can win anyway so if u didn’t like the Rock Paper Scissors approach then don’t play the Rock Paper Scissors approach, that’s just my take on your opinion tho
Your so underrated
Hopefully there will be bosses that will force you to use your blaster and others that can deflect blaster shots.
Man I can’t wait for this game I’m going to be replaying fallen order before this one comes out
Just had to comment and compliment the Twilight Princess background soundtrack selection. One of the best!
You must be from New York to get that much snow, I’m from Maryland, I didn’t get snow or Ice this year. I pray for everyone’s safety during this winter.
Kinda disappointed that the different stances aren’t some of the 8 forms that we see in cannon. But I do like how you can adjust your stance depending on the enemy like Ghosts of Tsushima. It adds another layer of depth to the combat which is quite complexed already. I love that feeling cause it makes you feel like a highly skilled Jedi knight.
I want karma system
@@dream6562 it’s a game about a Jedi , you can’t have a karma system. Lol
@@aidenralston4328 doesn't matter I like karma systems
@@dream6562 I like them too but it ain’t happening. Maybe if there was a mandalorian game.
Kanan Jarrus used a saber and blaster on a couple occasions in rebels
In the dual wield stance we’ve seen Ahsoka use Force while having both hands occupied with Sabers but this is a game and it would bring an interesting touch to the gameplay If we couldnt use the Force while in dual wield
Dame you really just said "Kanan who?"
Does Kanan dual wield? I know he uses a both blaster and lightsaber depending on need, but I only ever remember him using one at a time.
Maybe I should rewatch Rebels, I seem to have forgotten a lot.
@@binksmagnus Kanan only dual wielded in season 1 when he battled the grand inquisitor. He used his saber and Ezra's lightsaber.
@@binksmagnus no there were instances where he wielded both at the same time, I think one was during the fight with the Master Inquisitor?
Getting locked out of Force Powers while dual-wielding lightsabers seems unlikely considering how many Jedi and other Force Users we've seen in both Canon and Legends content using Force Powers without putting away either hilt. The hybrid blaster/saber stance might be another matter though. But I suspect one or both stances may suffer increased Force costs while wielding them rather than being completely locked out.
Hopefully our sabers work like sabers in this new one. Also wished we got the actual forms instead of stances.
Really would love to have a proper forms system too. I only ever recall seeing Forms usage in one game (KOTOR 2), but there was no cosmetic element of different animations. I think it was just pure mechanical differences.
@@heartoffire5902 maybe in one of the future unknown projects from one of the other studios will have it again. It would bring so much variety in gameplay.
I guess they are taking inspiration from ghost of Tsushima this time with the different stances not that I mind since that game is fantastic
You should upload that bowl bit as a short.😂
Subscribed as soon as I saw that rag doll physics on the bowl 😂
I could see the blaster stance taking a lot of inspiration from bloodborne- you could use guns to finish off weakened enemies from range but their main purpose was staggering enemies with timed parries and weak point exploitation. It just wouldn’t make sense for a blaster to do damage comparable to a lightsaber.
Not gonna lie I was hoping before the reveal of Survivor that we'd get a darkside story. I was thinking like Sith: Empire Rising. Set either a little while before the Galactic Empire is formed or being found/ discovered by the inquisitors during the empire's reign. Maybe your character lives on a harsh unforgiving crime infested world like Nar Shaddaa or in the bad areas of Coruscant and one day just snaps after being mistreated by their handler. Then at the end of the -murder- sequence some random dark side user shows up to witness the end of your spree then takes you in. Maybe you later find out that person orchestrated the whole thing from the get-go and you get your revenge on them before the inquisitors show up and they take you in to become a member of theirs. Then after some training you go out and hunt down some of the remaining Jedi whilst requiting a few more potential inquisitors.
I don't know. Just kinda spitballing here as I type. Sorry!
The only problem with that kind of story though is there is almost always a redemption arc at the end and that type of resolution is just so played out in Star Wars now (the sequels with Kylo, fallen order with Trilla, Reva in Kenobi, the chick from the battlefront campaign). No, I think the character would have to stay evil til the 3rd game where you'd have played as Cestis again and the evil character from the the 2nd would have been the big bad in that one. Anyway, c’est la vie.
im just hoping there will be side missions and a decent open world / worlds with plenty of stuff to do aside from the main story, other than just revisiting places and looking for collectables.
Being unable to use the Force while dual wielding sorta doesn't make sense, tho. Aside from the fact that Jedi don't actually _need_ to gesture with their hands, Cal could just do it while still holding the weapon. Ventress did that all the time.
I agree it doesn't make sense in any other medium, but in a game as a mechanic to balance how overpowered the damage output of the form is likely to be I could accept it.
You said cats and I immediately subscribed 😂
I thought I remembered KOTOR being able to do dual wielding blaster and melee weapon, but I was wrong. I guess outside of TTRPG, we haven't seen Blaster and Lightsaber in a dedicated star wars game.
Those droids are 100% a precursor to Dark Troopers.
I just wanna know where Merrin is!
The trailer shows cal using the force with both hands holding a lightsaber
hope the blaster stance is similar to Ishin's katana+revolver style
By the way remember cere used a blaster lighsaber combo in fallen order.
Sabine Wren dueled the dark saber and a blaster
Might have to wait on a part 3 for full fledged Jedi experience then, still seems limited in his abilities.
What more would you like to see?
@@id1550 to be honest can't k ow for sure, they haven't really shown much so it is too early to say. Hoping to see more force abilities being he should be seasoned by now, and a descent Jedi esque wardrobe options, in Freeplay. I understand the story still has him in hiding so it would be nice to have custom options of all sorts after you beat the game.
@@sandman17100 He’s already ridiculously overpowered with the force. He has both Force Stasis AND Psychometry? Those are incredibly rare abilities by themselves. It’s a joke he has both to the level he has them, puts him far above Jedi knights and some Council members smh
@@protector_of_the_realms That makes him a prodigy, which makes sense considering how many Force Users died during this period. The Force acts like a living organism and exists beyond the limitations of time, which is why precognition is possible. It can proactively create certain people and situations to suit what's destined to come. It stands to reason it would bring about a rebalance of power by allowing all the 'fluff' Jedi to die off while those of exceptionally deep connection and rare ability would be honed into extraordinary forces and survivors in their own right. Especially considering they're facing off against such extreme forces as Palpatine and Vader.
@@protector_of_the_realmsbro this is a video game not a fucking novel. why would someone want to play as sum loser with barely any powers
Tighten up the combat.
Improve physics so Cal doesn't move like he's drunk.
Make the story longer.
That's it!
Blaster and lightsaber is gonna be some bloodborne shit
well i'm pumped jst need that ps5 now
Cal and ezra some stuff in common, i feel like they should have crossed paths at some point
Well, if he went to Lothal, I assume it's before Rebels
Aren't they the same age to? Probably won't reveal Ezra's fate in a game they would save that for the media later downs.
@@Furkward Definitely not, Ezra is far younger
@@Furkward Ezra is the same age as Luke as they were born on the same day.
@@Furkward Kanan would be about the same age as Cal, maybe a even few years older.
Ezra is a lot younger than them.
Didn’t kanan duel wield a light saber and blaster in rebels?
Other people have said this too, so I probably just don’t remember it.
I wish there were other costumes other than ponchos.
I would love to be able to throw a lightsaber around aiming like GOW but probably not gonna happen
Cool video
Honestly I always thought the big guy looks like a Lasat.
Kermo art was here
What if you can't heal in the dual saber stance without first moving to another stance?
Dude Ezra had lightsaber ans blaster in seasson 3 and 4
looks like a cool game. but I'm more interested in an open world Star Wars universe
I don't care if you need to use different stances for different enemies. I will use the double handed sword style. If that makes an enemy harder to beat, then great. I like to use it as long as I can.
There will be a lot of people who like doing that, and I suspect it will also form the basis of challenge runs too. I'm glad we have the option instead of being literally forced into a specific stance every fight.
Phase 1 Dark Troopers were human, not droids.
Phase 2 had human pilots, Phase 1 and 3 did not. Current canon only mentions Phase 1 in a source book for the Star Wars tabletop RPG and says they were combat droids.
They should just call it God of (Star) War(s).
Because of one thing?
they spent a lot of time developing the first game so now they can focus on makeing it better.
i hated the map and haveing to navigate all the way back in complicated levels i hope that is revised or i am not going to be happy, everyone hated it, the Deves did not want it in the game but the director insisted it should be there, so to ignor it the second time around would be out of order.
new floatsam ost from the witcher 2 for a star wars related video 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good music is good music
They should have an option for dismembering things😈
So sad to see that they haven't done anything to improve the character feeling attached to the ground, and connecting with enemies. The whole game plays like it is made out of extremely cheap hallow injection molded plastic. I'll still love it because star wars but god damn. How does this not get some attention...
So this video showed no game play…
Dont think il use the gun find it less cool
I'm excited. I haven't had any faith since the whole s%*t show with Disney started, I watched Kathleen Kennedy lie to us that it was going to be great and she just kept on lying until I heard about Fallen Order. I don't like Disney's canon but I like Cal and his merry band of misfits, I want to see them succeed at whatever they try. They keep going this route they'll out do the sequel trilogy, and I'm just fine with that. 😁 Thanks for all the hard work. 👍
If only these 2 weren't just Souls clones with clunky combat rhythm...
The Bode Akuna character is concerning. If he starts explaining every puzzle to me or talks non-stop I'll be annoyed. Would be great if you don't have to take him with you honestly.
I’m just hoping working makes the next three months fly by. See all you nerfherders in March!
Dismemberment?
Would definitely be cool, but I doubt LucasFilm Games wants it. Maybe we can hope for a mod.
I'm sure it will be explained in the story but a blast in a hands of a jedi sounds stupid. They literally have no need for them.
They took notes from Ghost of Tsushima
I just want enemies to at least flinch when they get hit by a MOLTEN HOT LIGHTSABER! Seriously, the story can suck for all I care. Just give me a lightsaber that feels like a lightsaber instead of a pool noodle.
High republic books? No thanks.
When talking about not being to use the force when dual wielding(7:31), I think you are severally wrong because for example Jedi like Kit Fisto displayed using the force with a few fingers while dual wielding in the Clone Wars show. Just a small disclaimer for a harmless but untrue statement(no offense is meant in this comment).
None taken. I didn’t mean to imply that canonically Jedi can’t use the Force while dual wielding, only that it might work as a gameplay mechanic as a way to balance the increased damage of the combat stance.
@@binksmagnus Got it, thanks for the clarification.
Imma be blunt, if this companion guy spoils a single puzzle in the game without being asked I'll turn the game off and refund it.
after Ragnarök I lost every bit of tolerance for this dogshit gamedesign philosophy of modern dumbed down AAA games.
Maybe something will happen if we open that giant pink door
@@ferociousrazordino3581 you're giving me PTSD!
Look as someone who's gotten stuck in the Tomb of Eilram AND Miktrull, on my first playthrough I'd welcome that lol
That is- if I don't get so frustrated I just look up a guide because I absolutely cannot be arsed.
Which is what I did on basically every single puzzle in the Tomb of Miktrull after taking two hours to figure out that not only are there flammable vines on the chain in the center chamber, but also struggling for way too long trying to figure how to burn it.
It took a guide to remind me that gravity wall existed.
I hope it’ll be like the first game where you can ask BD for help or tell him to shut up.
@@ultimatepunster5850 that's why optional helpers are totally a good thing. but in God of War the characters LITERALLY tell you the solutions for the puzzles in less than 10 seconds.
once Atreus gave me the solution of a puzzle I didn't even notice was there in the first place because I was looking around for hidden shit...
it's comically honestly
I need better outfits…
Love it, it’s different!! Get to the top quicker - P r o m o s m!!
Whomever read this I pray that everyone is having abundant health in the Lord Jesus Christ name amen!!!!!!!!!!
No you don’t the high republic era is awful
Meh the lightsaber combat still looks stiff slow and clunky the story probably will be very short and the new maps are going to be empty worlds 🌎 that we travel, the developers care more about emotion than making a game to be fun, I don't want to play a movie like GOW ragnarok, also it's Disney star wars David filoni would probably try to insert the old powerful goddess ashoka
Bit of friendly advice from a first time (and DEFINITELY last time) viewer, LEARN HOW TO GET TO THE POINT.
I’m just sick of humans at this point. It’s so unbelievable, breaks immersion and just boring to look at. If there’s another random Jedi that’s introduced in this game, I’m done (there were already too many in the first game) especially if they’re somehow human as well
I pray that everyone is having a blessed day and night so far in the Lord Jesus Christ name amen!!!!!!!!!!
The cross guard was supposed to be completely unique to Kylo Ren because he didn't have proper instruction on how to make a lightsaber and didn't know what he was doing and had to improvise. It's really stupid and disappointing to see it used here decades earlier in the timeline. There are all kinds of lightsaber designs like tonfas and halberds, they could have easily come up with something else besides forcing something that doesn't fit with the established lore.
Cross guards also appeared in Rebels did they not?
@@seaharrierfrs1 just repeating what I've read, ever since Disney took over the continuity has been fucked beyond belief so who knows what's what at this point, they constantly retcon their own additions to the ip and the EU was declared non canon yet they copy half of it anyway and just rename some stuff? there's no point in trying to make sense of it anymore
Look tbh idc about anything sequel related, they can do whatever they want and I’m glad when they retcon it. I already don’t consider it canon because I can’t even be my way into somehow fitting TFA into the same universe as Star Wars is even set in with how much they butcher in that film. However the cross guarded Lightsaber thing has been an established ancient device for a long time now. It’s used by characters in the high republic and even earlier. It’s definitely been in some comics around like 2017 and I do think it was in rebels yeah
I hope we get the classic stances from Legends, Form I-VII, or more unique abilities from them in the skill tree. That was originally planned for Fallen Order, too, before Disney came to Star Wars.
I wonder if there'll be a collectible that will change his stance in combat. Not changing gameplay, just how he looks while positioning his lightsaber.
I don't think force powers would be completely cut off when dual wielding, considering that force users that mainly dual wield like Asajj Ventress and Ahsoka Tano have used the force while dual wielding multiple times. I can see being limited to the basics like force pull, force slow, and force push, the abilities that don't require as much effort to pull off. To use abilities like the new variation to force pull would require a free hand since it requires more concentration to pull off.
Just found the channel today and love the Fallen Order/Survivor content. Really well polished content and an easy sub for me, even if I'm not big into speedrunning or anything! Also joined the fan discord because while I never really do that sort of thing, I wanted to support your growing corner of the internet and the content you produce!
During the infiltration of Nur Cere uses both the light saber and a blaster in the curscene in the prison part. They could use that scene as a basis for the fifth stance
hopefully they add a little more RPG elements other than a skill tree, or at least expand upon the skill tree to allow us to make builds to customize the character.
A gun and saber? That sounds like bloodborne to me. 😈
It's established that those doids are from the Dark Trooper program, you weren't wrong bro people were nit picking.
Just going to say I' ve wanted a saber/blaster style since Dark Forces 2. I've been waiting a long time to see it. 😁
as a starwars fan i would really like to see Desann and or Kyle to make another appearance. (tho im sure the time lines are different. these characters being from jedi knight series in the past) as a older fan i had a hard time taking to this ginger. dont get me wrong its a awesome game (the first one)
At least the bowl stays centered on the slide... Unlike Cal who slides all over.😂
Man metroidvania Star Wars Dark souls is great 👍🏻
The absolute only thing Part 2 needs to do is have more planets and be at least a 18-25 hour story and keep the returning to early planets to discover new things element. It truly needs nothing else.
This game is shaping up to be a favourite for me since I loved ghost of Tsushimas combat and I love Star Wars so the fact these 2 things are coming together is incredible.
So they went with the Ghost of Tsushima / Nioh approach for combat this time.
phase 1 dark troopers would be metal AF. Especially if they go the route of them not being robots, but cyborg clones
First they copied the God of War story mode style and now they're copying Ghost of Tsushima with the stances concept. Not mad at all.
