Just want to say it was awesome meeting you at the Sundown Show in Hickory (I was the kid wearing the green hat talking to you about college and stuff). Awesome series, and I can’t wait to see what other videos you have planned!
Love the build. And it came together super quick. One tip I wanted to give is I use 5/16 t-nuts and Allen head bolts for holding my heavy subs in place. The t-nuts have a much larger footprint inside the box than any screw or bolt could as well as a much better clamping force due to it using actual metal on metal threads and you can uninstall and reinstall the subs without ever worrying about wearing out the holes. I have even used a small bit of medium strength thread locker on them to keep the bolts from coming loose with vibration. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the completed project.
T nuts strip out regularly and suck for heavy subwoofer usage, in my experience. Deck screws are just fine, if the hole strips out, put some thin copper wire in the hole or rubber material and then screw it back in
You live , you learn, you never do that shit again lol. No video justice but it sounds frickin awesome. Have fun at the show and thanx for your time my dude
WoW Parker, Back over 40 years ago I punched out 138 dBs (NCAA Certified) in a 1980 Mighty max P/U with 2 alternators, 2 Batteries, 4 Alpha sonic amps connected to 4 Pyle pro 12 inch and 2 JBL 15 inch subs. I took #1 for SPL going against vans from Orion, Kicker and Cerwin Vega in a daily work truck with a shell. Keep doing what you love to do. !
It’s why I love tubes and not common square enclosures. Tubes are relatively light, modular and unbreakable! I’m a biased tube guy. If making a common square box, you have to brace the hell out of it which is necessary, make a thick baffle etc and can weigh dozens of pounds because of it.
Yup when you built it the first time I didn't see any wood clamps and the glue was a little shy the lack of screws doesn't help either. If you glue it right it spose to be stronger than the wood it self and wood glue should come out of the sides when clamped. Have fun and good luck at the show bass on 🎶👍👌✌️💯🎶 boooom
This is why you should ALWAYS use quality wood glue when building a box. The glue will hold better than the screws. I love your videos. Great build. Keep them coming!!!
I have always been a big bass head , ever since I was younger. I'm using a 4500 watt amp to push a single 15 inch subwoofer. Wish I had more money to buy a better 15 inch sub. The one I got now a Rockville Destroyer, and deaf bounce Apocalypse amp. Definitely want to upgrade.
I like to use a combo of screws and nails. As a framer you learn that screws have pull out strength but no sheer strength. Especially the black sheetrock screws will sheer. You probably can check those screws and see some are sheered. Try a stronger deck screw. And use wood glue not liquid nails. Glue cures faster
One thing I've kinda figured out on my own people, which you won't see in many UA-cam videos. If you want good loud, clean, bass; never turn up the "bass boost" or "bass" knob on the amplifier. Only use the gain. Some amps may not even have this knob but if it does don't use it. It just distorts your bass and causes the amp to clip easier.
great job bro.. You smiling were smiling so much, you started making me smile, then I am like," why am I smiling ?" LOL.. Its because I remember the feeling of messing with my stereo. Love it !!! keep doing your thing bro !!!
Finally! Man! Even that big box can't handle the bass/power! That's so freakin awesome! Can we see the video when you put that in sundown show! Parker the basshead my idol! Watching and supporting every upload of your video here from philippines! 🙌🔊
I realize it was a one man rush job putting that system together and you did great! One thing I'd like to point out on the box build. Back in the 80's (yeah I'm that old) when I built a box I'd rip 2x4's with-wise (1 5/8" x 1 5/8") glue and screw them on every full length internal joint. Back then we didn't take into account the volume that the bracing and the displacement of the woofer itself took up. As Nick Tonniges suggested use 5/16 T-Nuts and Allen head bolts to secure those subs solidly to the box, those self-drilling screws you used aren't going to last and have no where the amount of clamping force of the bolts and T-Nuts. Good luck on the sound competition!
You learn in the process so when you do another build you know what not to do. I build my sub boxes and do nail, screws and construction adhesive with bracing. Going to build a box soon for my 12 inch sub. Can wait to see the sundown demos!!
Bangerrr bruh! You needa upgrade your mounting game to Threaded Inserts and Allen key Machine Screws. I could never go back. Being able to mount and unmount, over and over, and not deal with destroyed baffles, weakened mounting points, ect. Is so nice. Plus the Black Allen Head Bolts look super dope with the raised head. Keep slayin’ bruh.
Reminds me of my first build..back in 94 I had a kicker comp 15 in a Toyota tercel on a Malibu 100..went to my first competition on a same day build.i did a 129 at 20hz..was very impressed for a 3cu ft sealed box...
The low lows breaks stuff for sure! Use tight bond 2 wood glue, it's extremely strong. Tip... When building a box, blow out your cuts with compressed air, them wipe with a wet rag JUST BEFORE laying the glue joints. The water will act as a thinner, and the glue will flow into the wood deeper, making a much stronger glue joint. You'll break the wood before the glue let's go. Then brace it up as well, and you have a bullet proof box. Less flex and movement on the enclosure allows the energy to be made into sound, and not flexing wood. I bet you gained a bit after redoing it all. I know there's a 50+ in that setup down low. I was doing 48.6 in the same truck with and single 18, peaking at 24, tuned to 25 on about 3300 clamped watts. Move the port away from the door a bit, retest. There's a good gain to be had getting the box position right. You may lose too, try and test. And again, and again and again. There's a 50 for sure I'm there, you just need to play with it a bit. Close dash vents, and lower the visors strait down. Try opening the glove box, and adjust window positions. Likely best with the front windows down, or just the driver's side down. Every vehicle is different, but that worked in my 4dr 03' 7.3 superduty. Yours is a bit smaller being extended cab, so results will vary surely..
The next box you build make sure you use lots of wood glue, and then caulk your interior seams and joints. It is a nice build best of luck at the show you've put the work in for it for sure.
What I’ve done when dealing with very powerful subs is to set my saw to 45 degrees and rip a long angle off the end of one of my scrap pieces of wood, then set it back to 90 and rip another. Take and glue those into all of the interior edges of your box to beef up the edges and corners to prevent exactly this issue. On lower powered boxes you can run a bead of glue to caulk the inside edges. Also, you can trade off some reduced net volume without much strength loss by swapping to 3/4” dowel rod for your internal bracing instead of 2x4.
Had a great time talking at the show with you and I believe I got the first demo there lol I bet those subs will open up even more after the spiders loosen up!
Great job Parker! I hope you're having a great time at the show! We all run into small problems in our builds whether it was from over looking or trying to meet the dead line, shit happens. Lol. Can't wait to see your demos when you post them!
When I build a box, I put 45s on every edge, not just the sides. I also Glue and screw everything and I cut the edge 45s in my braces, to make sure everything is flush. I ran 3 SQ HDS3.1 10s on a Nendo BC5500 and they blew the box apart. I thought I dropped my subs. I ordered re-cone kits only to find out the box had come apart. After 45s and braces, I never had it happen again. Live and learn.

I did a 149.9 with 4 American bass xfl 15s in shitty enclosure it was like 6 cubic foot and on stock electrical just a extra optima battery in back on 2 audiopipe 1800.1 amps
You can buy threaded inserts so you can use a good machine screw, a 10-32 machine screw would be the way to go. They are easy to install, and don’t fuck up your box pulling subs in and out, and crack the wood like those self tapers.
Nice job parker, killer lows, it's hard to get big numbers tuned that low, so a 148 or so is really killer below 30, tuned to 36/40 you would have a pretty stout numbers. I looked up those black bricks and for the money you can't beat them. You can't even build a sub from new parts of that caliber for under $500, I have over $530 in each of my 15s and they have 400oz and 3" 8 layer not a 470oz with a 4" 8 layer coil. The BB HH is a true budget banger, killer value. If they had come out when I built the 1st of my 2 15s I probably would have just gone with those. Only downside is going up to a 4" coil does require bit more power, I only have a 5k so I probably will get more output with 3" coiled subs at that power level. Im building the 2nd 15 now because the motors and TI frames were out of stock. but I've flogged the 1st 15 and on that 5k I can get it stinking with serious bumping with occasional clip light blinks, but with intermittent clipping she heats up fast, ya get stink in like half a song... My custom monster 18 I built with zero clipping laughs at whatever it's seeing from that 5k tho, it actually needs more powah baby. Im building the 15s as D2s so they will be wired to .5 so hopefully I can keep that impedance down bit longer and get bit more slam I think that CAB half bridge will take it...if not guess I'll find one that will.
Wire ferrules are great. I had a friend keep bugging me to try some after he gave me a few. They aren't necessary but really simplify wire connections are are really inexpensive. I always recommend them now.

Subscribed. One time we went through everything on my friends truck because he was losing SPL. Turns out his truck was actually split down the unibody and he lost all pressure. We tore that thing apart trying to figure out why it sounded so bad.
duuude, love your subwoofers, i was planning to build a 800 watt subwoofer for this summer if i earn enough allowance for the particle board and mabye even some waterproof adhesive tape with wood texture and some glue.
Wow crazy, how it wrecked that box. A friend was running a Kicker CVR 15 out of a cheap box built by a store in my home town. It destroyed the front plate.

You should vinyl wrap the truck with black brick logos that would be cool
Wire ferrules are great. I had a friend keep bugging me to try some after he gave me a few. They aren't necessary but really simplify wire connections are are really inexpensive. I always recommend them now.
Blackbrick all day!! Great Subs 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Bro parker! This series was friggin dope! Can’t wait to see the videos from the show! Keep the subs slapping ! And next blowing up subs videos dude haha! Cheers man
Damb your truck hits good luck at the show I really enjoyed watching you put in work 👍
Awesome layout edit that build up was dope dude
Thank you man!!
Great build brotha that truck be bassin
Subscribed. One time we went through everything on my friends truck because he was losing SPL. Turns out his truck was actually split down the unibody and he lost all pressure. We tore that thing apart trying to figure out why it sounded so bad.
that brickhouse looks sooo damn good
duuude, love your subwoofers, i was planning to build a 800 watt subwoofer for this summer if i earn enough allowance for the particle board and mabye even some waterproof adhesive tape with wood texture and some glue.
Hey man, watched all vidz of ur build up and it was supa awsum.
Heck yeah Parker new box build coming up
That is so cool. I always use screws every 4 inches glue oh don't forget brace on corners and walls
Wow crazy, how it wrecked that box. A friend was running a Kicker CVR 15 out of a cheap box built by a store in my home town. It destroyed the front plate.
Like so many others that I'm subscribed too, I love and enjoy watching you do what You enjoy doing 😁😁thank you Parker you Basshead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Turned out awesome
Be curious how long that headunit's screen connection lasts with the up and down torque that bass is putting on it.
Yeah it definitely had a few issues yesterday. I’ll post an update video on it
@@ParkerTheBasshead I’ve kinda wondered about those cheaper Chinese decks being able to withstand a moderate amount of bass.
@@matt6951 They don't last long, I bought a cheap Chinese double din for a build with 2 Sundown x12s it lasted a week. Lol
@@DTW-bx2vy I agree, this was a long time ago. I have used a Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS ever since.
I used to go through screens like gas lol .
The bass rips them apart.
That looks like it slams! Those subs are beastly!
It’s crazy how big the truck looks in person vs in the video that thing was sitting high wen I saw it
Sounds freaking awesome
Dope af. Those peaks being down around 21hz must feel crazy.
