I think that motor would be better with a 15" or 18" cone and basket attached to it. The motor is so strong that it just destroys anything that doesn't have enough cone area to provide adequate air resistance to stop the motor from shaking the soft parts to shreds 😂. That's a beefy ass motor right there. I bet a single 15", or even better, an 18" version, would have incredible potential for just a single subwoofer on an amplifier like a Taramps Smart 8k. You could probably hit a 150db no problem with a single 18" on a Smart 8k with the right box in the right car. Hell, as long as the box is high quality, and you have the electrical and lithium batteries to support the Smart 8k, you would probably be able to hit 150db in almost anything except maybe the biggest SUV's and Trucks.
@@catch22frubert these parts won't shred. The cone, cap, or spider. These newer version parts are pretty much the best out on the market. Our custom tooled spider is 6-layers and 1/8" thick.
@@mattsnider5904 seriously, this was definitely built to be mounted inverted. Does anyone even put magnets inside the enclosure anymore? I have been mounting all of my Subs inverted for years now. The Sundown world champion subs aren't inverted. And he hits 186 db!! I think it's just preference. You do you bro lol! As long as you are getting monstrous bass who cares I guess.
That sub is crazy! Cool to see what it does as a 12 but have to wonder what it would do converted to 18. Great to see EM upgraded the spiders. Another great video Parker!
@@EagleTheBirdmanYou think (4) of the Super Team 18 inch, D1 coiled subs, wired down to 1/2 ohm each, with this new spider pack, with 1- Bass Smart 8k, per sub, wired @ 1/2 ohm each, would be Awesome?
I have a 4th order with the motors inside the sealed section. I put a temp sensor inside the pole vent and have it connected to a thermostat. When the temp gets too high it will make a buzzer start buzzing to let me know. I know it isn't actually getting the coil temp but it will still get hot in there when the coil gets hot. Thermostat is set to 150 degrees. Was nice to meet you and exchange demos at the Knoxville show yesterday also.
I have 2 sdr 15's on rp2000.1d. They are in separate boxes and I'm looking for a dual 15 box. Everything I find is tuned to 39-41hz. Will those boxes still hit down to 25hz? I really don't want to build a box if I can help it and I'd like to stay below $200. Am I asking for too much or are there any good options?
If you wanna set it up properly you can make a top plate cut in half prop the sub up slide the two halves together then screw it down then put another top plate cut out to flush mount over the surround and screw it together.
@EagleTheBirdman what about soft parts for a zv5? I really thought about this like a months ago. Carbon fiber cone, Carbon fiber dust cap, brown progressive spider and 3 inch coil. Basically this sub soft parts but for a zv5 basket and motor. I have 2 zv5's that are due for a serious recone.
Could build an overlapping puzzle piece style baffle that you can slide together around the basket so it's the ultimate sleeper sub with that giant motor being hidden inside the box. Use a removable front baffle with t-nuts to seal the puzzle piece baffle to stop any leaks.
That first one was a great example of why i never understood people using their amp to blow subs on purpose, I'm not trying to test the short circuit protection on my amp
Great review. Beast of a sub and nice to look at. But I just can’t see it being worth $2000. MBE is hitting over 140 db on music with 8’s and half the power.
@@The_Crasher-xj4el The box is only part of it. To run just one of these monsters it also requires a ton of power (10k at least. )And a massive electrical upgrade. I’m not knocking anyone. If you like it I love it. I enjoyed the video. Personally I think there’s much better bang for this amount of buck.
@@TheGooch123 very much aware that it’s only a part of it. Electrical is also key. I’m currently prepping for a 2 15 blowthrough. Only going to be running 5500w or so of continuous wattage. I’ve done a JS 320, dual 1/0 alt runs to front battery, dual battery to frame grounds alternator to frame ground 1/0 engine to frame ground. All ofc. It’s in a single cab, so I’ve also done 2 oversized 1/0 power runs to rear and dual rear frame grounds. There is absolutely less expensive ways to do this, but it is awesome seeing a single 12 so large and taking such an insane amount of power. And for 8,000 watts you realistically only need 15ah of LTO (I’ll have 10) and a 320a alt or larger. If you wanted to stick with AGM it would take a lot of it but it could be done.

@@EagleTheBirdman Wow it sure took a pounding. What is the real RMS rating and peak wattage of it? I am sure someone can make an enclosure for that sub so that it doesn't have to be inverted.
Hey an idea for a video. Settle the debate about distortion. Get a speaker rated say 1000rms. Test it to find its true maximum. Then compare "clean power" and distorted signals. See if the same amount of watts distorted actually damages the speaker compared to clean watts. Or whether distorted watts only damage because they are greater watts and not because they are distorted.
