Gotta heatsink all neo because neo doesn't care for the heat. If I'm correct it's some 350f or 380f where in ferrite it takes another 100f or so before becoming demagnetized. Also I imagine that the lower rms rating are much more sensible to run neo since heat soak or saturation in less likely at a lower power handling subwoofer. Neo is great but it's kinda touchy when it comes to heat.

Only real issue with neo is as the motors get hot they start to lose motor force. So in a spl setting after a few hard runs you will start loosing output. ppl have used fans to try to help offset this but that's why in a lot of the larger demo/competition builds you will see ferrite instead.

This would have been a perfect opertunity to test if inverting your subs are louder or not. Theres so many benefits of neo magnets. Glad to see a 15. Cant wait unil you test some 18s!
The subwoofer's cone creates the air movement, not the motor (magnet). The only reason inverting would make any change is due to the air space inside the enclosure being affected, not because of which way the cone is facing. if the increased air space from inverting creates noticeably more volume, you've prob got a severely undersized enclosure. Plus, the increased efficiency of the enclosure (due to more airspace) would probably come at the cost of decreased power handling of the sub seeing as how the air inside the enclosure acts as resistance to the cone thus helping it to stay under control. too much airspace means less air resistance to the cone thus increasing the chance of tearing the surround de to over-excursion, although this is splitting hairs for the majority of people who throw some junk subs in a prefab enclosure and call it a day. EMF audio has a video or two on YT talking about why an oversized enclosure can lead to tears in the surround.

Any decent Neo sub that sounds good and can take 1k without blowing up fast typically costs double or triple the price of a ferrite version with similar specs. So $350.00 for a nice quality neo is actually cheap. I built a box and installed the 12” Ampere Audio Neo sub for a buddy of mine and it’s crazy how loud and good it sounds when the motor is so small. it looks like it’s missing the entire magnet plus it weighs nothing. For sports car or anyone who wants big bass without a ton of weight should go with Neo subs. You could do 4 12” Neo subs and they would still weigh much less that one beefy ferrite
imo it would be a good idea to make some sub reviews in a box what u using for reviews regularly - like this skar box -, and after that make a custom box for it + review the sub once again...just it would be much more time consuming + more expensive, obviously because u would need to design / build the box of some materials, so i dont know that it is a good idea for u or not...but anyways, reviews like these would be good also for beginners who just buy a random box and put a sub in it, and also for people who are familiar with custom box design / build - because it is possible that a sub is will be not so good in a random box, but very good in a custom box optimised for the sub's ts parameters, and another sub maybe will not perform so different in both boxes - basically the reviewed sub in which of these 2 cases is good or not...
I have been out of audio for years but have been working with neodymium motors for a while and was wondering how audio developers have been incorporating these with the only downside being cost and thermal stability, about 30 years ago I had a pair of 6” mids that were a metal magnet not sure if it was neodymium but it was 1/4 the weight of any equivalent that I had at the time

Just based off what you’ve detailed in this this sounds 100% like a top of the line sq sub meant for small sealed box where it can really use the neomag to its advantage
Yeah the only thing I would change is the Voice coil being Copper wound not Aluminum
Huge and both those look epic
Ive made comments a few years ago as to why they havent made most speakers with neos. I also dont know why they dont make car alternators and amplifiers at a much higher voltage to keep these ridiculous wire sizes and weight down. 48 volts would be a step in the right direction.
Not many ppl review these subs! They're expensive! Well, the worth while ones. I hear neo motors arent exactly good for demos or everyday listening cuz it doesnt have the motor to dissipate heat like ferrite motors do. Thats why i chose Xv3's instead of NSv4's. But I've been wanting to see em.👍
that double stitch is the Same on q power subs 15"s
I like watching the builds I like the reviews also I like when your videos are usually 20 minutes or longer the most
It is going to break your back window. ☺ That company makes really nice woofers. Like you said a little pricey but nice.
Build a wall in your truck pls it would be an awesome series
Welcome to the future of subwoofers! I want 2😁
Your videos is full of entertainments😃
I like my 100 buck subs just add more cheap subs ,spl and cone displacement go hand in hand
Keep doing Both builds and reviews
Being that i love car audio AND power to weight ratio, i want neo everything.
All the hikers in his town be like
Why the hell is my compass always looking on this guys garage
imo it would be a good idea to make some sub reviews in a box what u using for reviews regularly - like this skar box -, and after that make a custom box for it + review the sub once again...just it would be much more time consuming + more expensive, obviously because u would need to design / build the box of some materials, so i dont know that it is a good idea for u or not...but anyways, reviews like these would be good also for beginners who just buy a random box and put a sub in it, and also for people who are familiar with custom box design / build - because it is possible that a sub is will be not so good in a random box, but very good in a custom box optimised for the sub's ts parameters, and another sub maybe will not perform so different in both boxes - basically the reviewed sub in which of these 2 cases is good or not...
Thanks for share. That is a 2ohm dual voice coil?
Yep!
Hey in ur opinion what would u say sounds better this Hutchison or the skar zvx 15
Actually the 12" dual 2 has the same motor force as the ZV6 12 dual 2
Sound great can we see a build on that subwoofer love it
Another way to quick check this on speakers is the BL factor
More reviews.....love this. Keep up the awesome work.
Ima stick with my audio pipe bdc415
The colors on the wires seem to indicate wirein it a certain way to achieve ohms loads?iono
Great video parker! keep it up brother
Thanks for the content brotha. Love all the different types of vids
Try a lanzar max pro 15 please
I have been out of audio for years but have been working with neodymium motors for a while and was wondering how audio developers have been incorporating these with the only downside being cost and thermal stability, about 30 years ago I had a pair of 6” mids that were a metal magnet not sure if it was neodymium but it was 1/4 the weight of any equivalent that I had at the time
im just waiting on black friday sales to buy 3 15s to repalace my 4 ddx 12s
I just seen their subs and the price is not bad at all compared to other subs. Shit, that's even better than Skar Audio subs.
Love the SMD meter hell yeah
Man unfortunately I believe you did this woofer zero justice as you would have had you actually built a box to the proper specifications for this driver then you would truly see where it shines! Hutchinson brothers are absolute geeks when it comes to the whole subwoofer designing aspect and performance per dollar per watt side of things I can certainly respect that because nobody else is doing what they do and pushing new limits the way that they have... Hutchinson FTW!!!
Yeah I really want to know how hot it got after that last SPL test
I like the reviews, i like when you let us know what the sub would be good for. Does it hit the lows, is it just good for getting loud? This was a good vid because i am looking for a sub setup in my commuter and don’t want to upgrade everything
U might check out SA12s or 15s. they are great all around subs they get real loud and dig pretty low for a budget sub. and of course it has a great brand to back it up
Another sub I would suggest would be the Rockville punisher 12 or 15 because it has y35 grade magnets and is pretty efficient. Was slamming 23hz daily with it
@@michaelmosher7902 never gonna happen. Exo already did Rockville tests and they’re Chinese shit. Nobody respects anyone who uses Rockville and efficiency is DEF not their thing, there’s a reason their shit is half the price of a Walmart kicker.
@@nickbutler123 so funny. All the subs guess where the ferrite and most of the parts come from? Either prc which is people's republic of China or made in China. I can send you pics of the 50 dollar Rockville coils with high temp glue on it brand new
@@nickbutler123 my Rockville punisher 12 is the only sub I've seen with enough motor force to drag it through my living room with a pair of pliers stuck to the magnet. Definitely y35 grade ferrite so I plan on putting the new recone in it and then putting it in a smaller box with super light carbon fiber dustcap and probably tune at 28hz. Smaller box still meaning 2.3 cubes or so. Probably through around 1400 or so to it and can't wait to see what I can meter in my civic coupe
AWESOME VIDEO AS ALWAYS BROTHER BASSHEAD 👍
Thank you so much!!
A mega or high roll surround would be perfect
Thus subwoofer is highly efficient. It needs a bigger enclosures, compared to what he has it in. It also, doesn't have the mechanical travel, to need a huge surround. These subs are built with more sound quality in mind, versus less efficient subs, made more for demoing.
Yoooooo. Love the video parker!!!!!!!
Thank you man!!
@@ParkerTheBasshead do you think a audiopipe txx bdc 12 or a american bass elite 12 would be louder in a 92 bronco?
Thanks man I really appreciate everything you do!
Would of loved to see it in a proper enclosure
Love watching the builds and not have to be high dollar stuff!!!!!
no, spl is measured at 1Watt at 1Meter, not at the cone but 1 meter from the cone.
I'm curious. When watching ur videos I noticed that when the subs hit low notes it's not as much power but the high notes it jumps up. Idk if I'm just looking at it wrong or what
Commonly referred as box rise
Whats up Parker! Great review! Have a great day!
750 watts with a 400oz motor
Wasn’t a fan of this sub but won’t go in on it , either love the content and the channel keep killing it dude
I believe that the positive negatives on each side are swapped intentionally to hook them up in parallel
I've wanted to see how one of these Hutchinson would perform.
I got 2 of the 12s going in my tahoe
Mr Basshead....does it sound better than the Walmart subs?
I don't think your meter is messing up. I think that sub is just playing reallllly linear.
