My Father taught me to body surf in Huntington Beach Beach California in the early 70s. Great memories thanks Florence boys.
I think my favorite takeaway from this video is realizing how much joy Nate has for surfing and the ocean regardless of whether it's 1' or 10'.

this vid warms my heart. My dad wasn't around when I was growing up and I never really had any kind of relationship with him let alone ever got the chance to go surf with him. so this so cool to see. Man he's a quick study. Reminds me the most important thing about surfing: HAVE FUN!!!

Hell yeah! You're dad is a beast in the beast! Would have been so tired on a 9 ft board and I'm much smaller (5'7") I learned a lot from this video and will implement some of your techniques when I try again at waikiki
I think I met your Dad many years ago on the North Shore. I was sitting on a bench under a tree on the beach and he sat down. He eventually said he was your father and went on to talk about how proud of you all he was.

being part of him, of what he gives us every day and it all comes down to having a good time, laughing, connecting with nature.
Clearer than seeing the moment when he shares a wave with that turtle. That is surfing, no matter the level, it doesn't matter to always compete.

I"m your dads age and still remember (like yesterday) teaching my kids how to surf. Even pushing them into a wave so they could catch like you did...total role reversal but the stoke is clearly the same. Surfing is beautiful.

Teaching is difficult, have had teachers that can calculate sine calculations for angles in their head, but were crap teachers because they didn't know how to impart knowledge. That is the key to teaching, great vid. Cheers.
