    I was at the show when the Parabola problem occurred (first clip). It was bizarre to watch. But the band didn't miss a beat, and the crowd rose to the occasion and picked up the tune from where Maynard threw the mic and finished the lyrics to the rest of the song.

    • @AndyFelbab

      He walked off-stage completely. Came back as soon as the song was over. Didn't acknowledge the mistake, or that the crowd ran with it (we went nuts at the end of Parabola, btw. It was wild). He just continued with the show as if nothing happened.

    His voice cracks are fucking hilarious.

    • @into.the.wood.chipper.
      @into.the.wood.chipper. 8 років тому +58

      +Kyle Damron Well when you think about it, a strong head voice is just a reinforced falsetto carrying the weight of chest voice with a stable (not high) larynx. Cracks are bound to happen if the vocal mechanism lacks support due to fatigue, awkward posture, smoke on stage, not drinking enough water, drugs, alcohol, getting overly excited or nervous and tensing up, THE FLU... Many things can claim your voice, even after considering the fact that most adult male voices were not made to sing that high.

      jaysay63 Just trying to reason why the voice cracks would happen.They haunt the nightmares of every male vocalist. Even a high tenor can crack if the notes they are trying to sing are in their passagio and the passagio is unsteady because of any of the above-mentioned circumstances.

    As a guitarist who plays gigs somewhat often, I can tell you that there is nothing worse than being out-of-sync with the rest of your band. Everything comes crashing down until you can salvage it on the next bar, and that's only if you can. It's a pretty big reminder that you're only human and shit happens.

    • @ZorroTheWevile
      @ZorroTheWevile 7 років тому +3

      I am a guitar player too and I'm new to playing live and I need some advice. What size solid state amp would you recommend for playing in a small venue

    • @Nothingz3dge
      @Nothingz3dge 7 років тому +4

      SomeGuyNamedJohnny how big of venues are you talking? and is there pa that the amp will be miced through? and what kind of music do you play?
      as a guitarist in a hardcore band, I play a lot of diy house shows, as well as small venues. if your playing a place without pa and have to rely solely on the amps output, you might think about getting something a little louder, to make sure you can be heard. but it's also good to just have a higher wattage amp for the headroom. if you have a 100 watt amp, you might only turn up halfway, but if you needed to, you could always turn up more

    • @ZorroTheWevile
      @ZorroTheWevile 7 років тому

      +TurTles I'm only talking small places at the moment, I realize I'm not going to need a massive 120 watt amp to lug around only to turn up to about 2. I play with a nice high crunch/ fairly low overdrive. I mostly want to be prepared for the venue NOT being able to mic me up.
      And before you say it, I already know to boost my mids a little :)

      it's funny bc there's a q&a with him where he says he's classically trained
      i don't have reason to doubt the guy but the riffs themselves don't seem that complicated.
      lots of 7/8, 9/8, 4/4, 5/8, etc. but those aren't hard things to do.
      but what he also said in the q&a is that he learned how to utilize space and allow that to inform the way a song sounds, which i thought was really interesting, and it does seem to "say" a lot without "saying" anything in those moments where nothing is actually happening besides the ring of the guitar, or the pick slides he does to create a similar sense of spaciousness, etc.
