I really enjoy the lore and fluff for arcanists. I always interpreted it as someone who found flaws in reality itself that they can exploit, like glitches in a game. Little cracks in the laws of nature that they can use to their advantage. Tricksy people who have stolen a power not meant for them. Which sounds super cool. A real 'Matrix' type of character in my mind.
For the Brown Fur Transmuter, you glossed over what makes it one of the, if not the best buffers in the game. The level 3 exploit, Powerful Change, you get increases the stat gain by 2 from Transmutation spells you cast meaning that your Bull's Strength and Cat's Grace spells will give +6 to their stat. Not only that but your Enlarge Person will also give an extra +2 strength. Keep in mind that you won't be finding a bell of Str/Con +6 type belt until Act 4 The level 9 exploit, Share Transmutation, is where it gets really spicy. It let's you cast your self only Transmutation buffs on your allies. Stuff like Hurricane Bow, Angelic Aspect, Animal Growth, Geniekind and Frightful Aspect are really powerful. Pair all this with the Extend Spells mythic abilities and they will all last 24 hours
Additionally, there is a Slayer subclass with access to Exploits. As Cas said, as they are not spells, you can dip into it to get some spell like goodies for your frontliners
1 Small correction for white mage , you don't sacrifice any spell slots to cast heals , just arcane pool , so you can still blast like crazy and still heal.
Honestly I've been playing the wizard varient with the exploit. I found that the best ones to choose are the ones that are not damage based. Increasing your spell level by 2, teleporting...etc are amazing. At the beginning of the game I used the meta magic bolster on magic missile to make it a level 2 spell. With specialized spell and the up level exploit I could throw 5 bolster missiles at level 5. Each missile did around 20ish damage to the vrock in the market.
I was playing an arcanist in a PnP game until the game took a long break and switched to 2E. He was a TON of fun. One of the better things about arcanists that didn't make it to this game sadly is that they're about the only class in Pathfinder 1E that can effectively counterspell. My character spent a lot of his points and spell slots in the last session counterspelling a Rakshasa that was trying to turn invisible and flee. It was hilarious to see him dramatically gesture, see nothing happen, and curse!
Brown fur transmuter is king. Your melee characters will love it. Enhanced mass cats grace, enhanced mass bull strength, enhanced animal growth, enhanced enlarge. You cavalier can be riding a giant mammoth into combat with like +16 str. Dont leave home without a brown fur. Add mythic enduring spells rank 2 and all buffs last 24 hrs. Then rest, and replenish soells and transmute enemies into dogs
the exploits make this class very unique, i wonder how the healing subclass do because a healer that can teleport all over the place seens really fun kk
arcanist was my first choice for the boost in caster levels to try to get my sense vitals to 24 hours for arcane trickster multiclass. didnt work out. ended up going universalist wiz spell focus divination, spell specialization sense vitals and heighten meta magic and universalist extend at lvl 9 with there 4 caster lvl spell focus. 5 minutes on the dot :)
I feel like bards are kinda lame in pathfinder, I always loved that class in theory and I can't wait for the Bard to come to baldur's gate 3 but in pathfinder in just can't get the hang of it so I'm hoping the pending video on the Bard will clear things up for me, making the class more interesting.
Bard is a great support class that can buff with spells and Songs. You can do some decent damage with Bows (Shortbow by default but you can choose a race/heritage that gives access to Longbow) since you can trade in your Bard Talents for Combat Feats. Or you can build it to be a pure support and take a bunch of Skill Focus feats to have it become your dedicated skill monkey.
@@ZoroasterK1 Oh damn, I completely overlooked the Skald, I didn't even know it existed. It looks awesome and exactly like what I was looking for in a Bard. Thank you.
In my humble preferences for game design, I feel the Arcanist features could have been awesome Feats or features added for almost any Arcane casters in WotR (options whereby you would replace other features while you level the other Arcane casters). The same way Shaman/Witch spirits and hexes could have been nice options for Clerics, Sorcerers or Wizards. I feel there are too many archetypes for my little brain anyhow (yet I am a D&D/PF and CRPG nerd).
Who would have guessed that the best class is in the DLC expansion? Sucks to only have the base game, because I heard they patched/balanced the base game based on the assumption that you have access to all DLC expansion content.
@@andrewhegstrom2187 can imagine i play transmuter specialist and most of the things you get is meh. in kingmaker i think i repseced the subclass of wizard like 4 times untill i settled with transmuter, which i liked conceptionally be it not mechanically. But now doing almost the same as in kingmaker is boring, but repsecing a wizard you lose all the spells in the spellbook if i rememeber correctly. Not sure yet what to do. Also i would loose my familiar which is not usefull that much. Took the cat obviously and the additional spells are only usefull at 3rd level with haste and slow. 1st and 2nd level transmuation spells are bad or even useless.
@@Tremain The achetype can really change up gameplay too. I made a Brownfur Transmuter to be a frontline damage dealer (high str, size changing spells and later transformation) that also makes all the party pets into dragons (to cash into the multi-attack feat they all earn), Because of Armoreed Mask (exploit) I can be safe on the second line (Swinging over the tank by being a Large size) with access to Arcane Armor and Sacred Shield and Still being able to cast Shield on top (That's Base +10 AC and immunity to magic missiles that scale both with levels (Sacred shield) and with Mythic levels (Archmage Armor), I'll also be able to cast +6 and then +8 stat increases to most atributes (And with Improved Enduring Spell everything will last forever up to, and including 24h Haste (20 CL +1 Scholl Specialist +2 from Exploit +2 from Spell Specialization (or hat) x2 because of extend = 5min so it gets extended by enduring too, even without being a lich) Most of these things is unavaliable to other classes without heavy multiclassing or choosing specific mythic paths and that's just one way of playing them.

Think bolster magic is bugged, and they fixed it this new patch

I’m loving all this pathfinder content. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I have to say I always love the thumbnails for this channel. I don't know what it is there just so well laid out and good to the eye (am I weird)
thank you very much for this and all the other NUMEROUS videos and guides ive read from you guys.

Awesome!
Brown fur transmitter. Get dragon kind LVL 3.
Cast it on everyone
Boom. Army of dragons
Glad your voice is sounding better mate!
Doing a great job, Fextra. Thank you!
Fextra can you do a deep delve into all the spells in the game?
This actually sounds like something I might enjoy. Gotta try it as a trickster
Arcanists spellcasting is the same mechanism that wizards and other spellcaster have in dnd 5.0, like Baldurgs Gate 3 :)
It's the same groundwork but spell attacks and the spells themselves can be quite different e.g mage armour gives +4AC to a target vs what 5e does
Are you doing these for all classes? i'm super new to this game series and its kicking my ass.
Great content ! Get as much in depth as you can with strategy please!
the exploits make this class very unique, i wonder how the healing subclass do because a healer that can teleport all over the place seens really fun kk
You will burn through both you're reservoir and spells quickly. You should view the white mage as a back up emergency healer.
Damn. A class that uses both dump stats. I might need to try it out.

I'm the same situation but I play a zookeeper bard(trickster) and it is very fun.

Skalds are an interesting variation of the bard idea. Look into them, there are a few builds on youtube for them as well.

can I combine nature arcanist with arcane trickster or is this a bad idea?
Thanks :D
Please do a guide for Rogue class, nobody have done it...
Build idea. Elven Curve Blade sword saint?

I wonder how well a Magus would do multiclassing into arcanist...
Brown-Fur Transmuter for the buff synergy.
@@jamesbrice3267 how many levels tho
@@KalaamNozalys A minimum of 3 Brown-Furs for the buff exploit but half and half total is good.
@@jamesbrice3267 Really ? is there the arcana that allows a magus to use another class' spells for spellstrikes ?
@@KalaamNozalys I've tried myself. My Eldritch Scion in Kingmaker was more of buff and summon type.
Arcanist seems to work like a DnD Wizard, as Pathfinder Wizards are very different
What’s your opinion on a vivisectionist alchemist with a dip into mad dog barbarian?
Should have taken the wizard subclass that gets the exploits…
exploiter wizard is considered one of the strongest pure casters in Pathfinder.

Brown fur is king
Your guides are getting worse... Your guide for an Arcanist should be from start level and it should indicate more than 2 feats.
