Man, I really hope we get other guides like this. Dual weird, two hander builds would all be super cool. Hardest part of this game is figuring out what class to play and just do it lol, rather than keep second guessing and start over.

right?! I always keep my retrain on, even on core/hard because I want the option to randomly spend half a day retraining all of my guys into the new thing I thought of that day.
I came up with a new idea tho. I have a full team of merc and me, that i'm going to carry to the end of the game. Then keep that save file and use them to retrain to test group mechanics etc. lol

I feel like it is worth mentioning that rowdy rogue works particularly well with the trickster mythic path thanks to the extra sneak attack dice. That isn't even mentioning how well the combination of vital strike and sneak attack die synergize with the advanced mobility trick.
for the eldritch archer build, you can instead do Eldritch Scoundrel 8, EA 2, EK 10, or Scoundrel 10, EA 2, EK 8, depending on how important spell critical is to you.
The advantage to this is it gets you a bunch of sneak dice on your archer :).
Perfect video, well presented and get an eye on all weirdy subclass there is but not for fun but to min/max an archetype

For Lann, I've opted for a 3 Zen Archer/1 Roudy Rogue/16 Slayer build. Depending on what you are going for, 1 level dip into Roudy Rogue gets you the free Vital Strike feat + the extra 2d6 per sneak attack. You can then get the actual sneak attack levels from ANY class that gives it and boost Vital Strike to insane levels. Slayer gives you a lot of sneak attack levels (not as much as Rogue), but is full BAB and also gives a ton of Feat (to be able to take Improved and Greater Vital strike plus all kinds of others) and Advanced Rogue options like Crippling Blow and others. For a MC build, you can omit the 3 Zen archer levels and pick up something like Vivisectionist for 30 min mutigen and 2 more levels of sneak attack or something like that.
Another good option is 3 Zen/1 Roudy/16 Cult Leader. Gives you all the divine spell goodness + Sneak Attack + Vital Strike + Wisdom for bows. Less Feats to work with, but you can still get the important ones along with Improved and Greater Vital strike since you don't have to get rapid and manyshots due to Flurry of Blows.

Havent tried it yet, so someone let me know if its wrong. I read a forum from yesteryear that says the Sohei monk weapon training at level 6 works with a Flurry of Blows that stack with rapid/manyshot when taken on a bow. Plus its mounted, which brings in a whole new level of tactics.
Just started, Primal Druid 1 for the smilodon and spells, at level 2 I'll get Sohei with weapon focus Longbow. So at character level 7, PD1/Sohei6, riding around on a smilodon with full BAB minus 1, with at least FoB on top of Rapid shot. No wisdom to damage though...
Gave Wendu 1 level of Rowdy for fun and holy sheets is she a savage!

Demonslayer Ranger + A smidge of Eldritch Scoundrel x Mammoth animal companion = Mounted Archer trampling point blank faceshooting of doom and is fun.

@@bluerationality only in turn based mode. RTWP is unaffected, at least in my game.
If I change to turn based mode, I usually want finer control of each character so I usually prep by having everyone dismount anyway.

I really like the Warpriest build, not something I had considered before.
Some more great Archer builds that aren't super obvious (like Ranger or Fighter):
3 Zen Archer/ 17 Sacred Huntsman (Inquisitor)- divine spontaneous casting for buffs plus an animal companion. Wisdom to AC while wearing no armor, which is best with super high dex anyway. Can also go all wisdom and use that for your attack rolls instead, plus bonus spell casts. Tons of attacks and you can focus on crit feats because of flurry of blows applying to arrows. Get boon companion and put 1 point into INT on the animal companion for teamwork feats. Very solid build. This is a great build for Lann.
3 Zen Archer/ 17 Slayer- flurry of arrows plus tons of sneak attack damage without sacrificing BAB. Allows you to get wisdom to AC which can be really nice with the large stat boosting items from mid-late game that you otherwise wouldn't get much use out of as pure slayer. Study target and tons of extra Slayer abilities too. Same ability as above to ignore Rapid Shot/Many Shot feats and just go for Crit and Snap Shot feats instead. This is a great build for a certain Undead Lich Mythic Path companion I wont spoil.
Currently my favorite archer build aims for ZenArcher1(WisToArmor), BowMagus2, EmpyrealSorcerer4, Ecclesitheurge3(firedomain->Scorchingrays), MysticTheurge10.
The Key here is that the restrictions on Magus ranged spellstrikes are, that is must be a spell which exists on the Magus spelllist. Scorching ray and Hellfire ray are both (scorching ray with fire domain) present on sorcerer and cleric spellist as well as the magus spellist. With mythic abundant spells2 all the sorcerer, as well as the cleric spells, get +3 slots up to spelllevel 6 which is exactly where hellfire Ray is.
So you get an Wisdom based archer with all the magebuffs like hurricane bow and haste/divine power, mirror image and and a lot of scorching rays and hellfire rays to cast with your ranged spellstrike.
Tohit is not as high as a pure class and you don’t get full attacks but you can spam true strikes on enemys which are very hard to hit. With abundant spells1 and wis23 these are up to 6 true strikes from magus(11int is enough here), and 12 from sorcerer, which are perfect for manyshot which hits 2times in one attack, and true strike buffs only 1 attack.
Add to that the mythic magearmor ability which can hit armor value of 14 at mythic rank 10 + monk wis Ac bonus and the shieldspell and you are good to go. At lvl7 33(36 with defensive fighting shots) Ac is easy to get with buffs.
Up to lvl10 this builds pretty much just plays like a normal archer, the damage is pretty much on par with Wenduag, only that the damage comes from buffs like hurricane bow enlarge person, and acute instincts and not high stats and base attack bonus. After lvl 10 the spammable spells start come. Before that you have to spam the RayOfFrost-cantrip to get an extra attack.

My Lann as pure Zen archer almost pushed me to changed class.The Initiative is so good as well as the chances of hitting everyone around that sometimes, it feels unfair for the whole team whenever I battle.
I’ve found he is my most consistently accurate. I’m at lvl 6, at with haste he is striking at least 3/4 shots per attack
@@shaner1912 expect more of it early in the game. He's enough to wipe most area alone (even in Challenging / Hard mode)
@@Ghost19_ I play on Core with expansed fights, so the only battles I’ve had issues are the end of chapter one and the gargoyles. Love this game though

I actually did a Zann Lv 4 Zen Archer and then went Sacred Huntsmaster so he can use Snapshot on a Mount and also get all these Opportunity attacks. It just made sense when I saw him start out with 'Combat Reflexes.'
Now I'm tempted to respect Lann! I was using sacred huntsman which I think is also good because of the companion, but that cult leader is tempting
What about taking only 11 levels of Zen Archer just to get the second extra flurry attack? Levels beyond 11 don't seem to do very much (there's only so many Ki powers you need), so you could add, say, 9 levels of Slayer for swift Studied Target and 3 sneak attack dice. Another class I think could be interesting to mix with Zen Archer, since they are both WIS based, is Instinctual Warrior. Thoughts?

The Video is very great and i waitet a long time to get some more informations about Archer builds. But it would be interesting too if you speak about the mythic paths which fit great to the builds or in total for archers. Because for example you pointet out how well sneack attack works. ZA fuill does not have sneak attack, so would a Trickster fit great ? because he adds sneack attack or are other path better then that? Like Lick for EA/EK build. etc.

For eldritch archer do I focus on spell feats? Like spell penetration, school focus, spell focus? Or do I focus on archer feats like deadly aim, manyshot, rapidshot? Does insight for touch attack work? Should I focus completely on my bow and think of the spells as arrows? I'm so confused.
Out of curiosity, does the "Crusader" cleric archtype still have 1 less spell slot a level and does it mention this?
As in kingmaker It was missing the slots as the pen and paper rules said it should, but the video game didn't mention it.

would you know off hand do any other specs get anything comparable to the monk's movement base speed? i think at lvl 18 i will be at 90 base movement speed and have a few ki powers to go even faster. I'm considering trying to do a legend character and would be nice to have that if I pick another spec.

Lovely builds, I am still looking for fine throwing axe build, was thinking to try Hagbound somehow (with Imitator and maybe Vivisectionist), but I might check the Rowdy Rogue class. Thank you.
I'm running an axe thrower right now, started with bloodrager steel blood then slayer deliverer until 5 ranks of knowledge arcana. So at 6 you take dragon disciple until 9, then 10+ is all slayer deliverer, end up with almost 10 attacks with duel throwing axes and some bonus damage, hope this helps.

The throwing axe package is a good option to put in "support" build characters, I made a merc dirge bard for songs and buffs and tacked the throwing axe build on top for combat viability, it's stronger than the default crossbow for support and only cost a couple os extra feats

My favourite "Archer" Build for my Main Character in Kingmaker was a 1 Level Alchemist Vivisectionist, 4 Levels of Sage Sorcerer, 10 Levels of Arcane Trickster and then filling up with either Sorcerer and/or Arcane Archer. "Obligatory" spell: lvl 2 Sense Vitals and optional lvl 6 Transformation if one wishes to complete longer engagements with fewer Spell Slots, otherwise mostly the longer term Buffs for the Group. And when picking up Arcane Archer also the Prestigious Spellcaster/Favored Prestige Class Feats though not sure whether the Feats were added by Mods as I think the base game didn't do much with 'Favored Classes'...
Kind of a Buffer and Master of none but quite wide spread with available Skill points so I found it appropriate for a Character I can't leave behind at Camp to have a bit of everything so that I can specialize all the other Characters.

You didn't mention the difference between bows and crossbows in the game. Basically with crossbows you can dump str, and go full dex. They have a smaller crit range, but higher multiplier and some feats don't work with it.

Not being able to get a bonus to damage is a big deal. Additionally there is the Rapid Reload feat tax.

Great video. Archery related question, but not specifically on builds. Do you know if there is anyway to divide our attacks? i.e. if Lann has 7 attacks and kills a guy after 3...does he lose the other 4 or can you switch those to a different target? I haven't figured out how to do this yet. I thought it would be an option in turn based combat.

He should automatically shoot at the closest viable target, sadly afaik you can't exactly control where he shoots next, same with other multiattacks which would be lovely to aim him at the other low archer in the back rather than the guy in the front immune to his attacks D:

arus start at 10 and can only get 10 specs of those bard classes, and thats to little to reach those amazing +4bab/savs bonuses and special thunder songs.

Touch damage is anything that ignores non-natural mundane armour.
When you inspect enemies you have few types of armor class. General ac, flat-footed (without dex usually) and touch ac (basically without armour or natural armor). When you have a spell that says it makes touch attack (melee/ranged) then it takes the last amount of armor into equation. Its very good vs enemies with huge armor class.
Damn the amount of 'armor' word used is too damn high..
Full Demonslayer is very mean as well, w/ self buffs like Aspect ofhte Falcon & Hurricane Bow and the ability to boost your entire team v demons
I know its a video about archers, but I think throwing weapons are also worth of mentioniong. You can dual wield them so you get insane amount of attacks per round. I did Wenduag full ranged pure warrior (be cause I am lazy about companions) dual wielding throwing axes and she dishes out tons of damage every round.
Dual throwing axes are very viable on Wenduag, I went 4 fighter/16 Warpriest (Cult Leader) for sneak attack, hide in plain sight and some healing/support spells (get +4 WIS item).
same , i went with wend+dual throwing aces vivi class for tons of axes and sneak attacks. She just plows through enemies, my allies barely get time to swing at em.
What stats do you suggest for eldritch archer?? dex/int i suppose. I´m not min/maxer.
Im surprised that slayer build wasnt mentioned. Sneak attack, full bab, studied target attack bonuses, and rouge talents
everyone sleeps on the slayer for whatever reason I think its one of the best multi class choices for any melee or archer build

I've been having issues with my hunter build and being able to use my level 2 and 3 spells. What am I missing? What stat am I not focusing on that make them available for use.
You are missing wisdom if you can't cast spells of certain level, i think you need 10 + spell level wisdom to be able to cast

It is not 100% true that you can only use strength on composite bows: It might be niche, but there is also the slingstaff (halfling weapon). It is actualy pretty fun to play Eldritch Archer wit slingstaff, as you can sling snowballs at enemies.
I'm an amateur, in comparison to you and other people in this comments, but I'm trying a flamewarden 19/rogue 1 (for the sneak attacks): I'm just lv 6, but can almost keep the pace of Lann (pure zen archer), with attacks and damage, above all when buffing him with hurricane shots and aspect of the falcon
Zen archer is strongest early game, but it falls off hard as you level up compared to other archers.
Manyshot is much better than flurry once most of your damage comes from static modifiers like Str bonus, bane, divine power, crusader's edge, sun marked, studied target, etc.
Multiclassing into zen archer instead of using manyshot is a bad trade.
Even in PnP, where we don't have half the stuff that's in this game, Warpriest and Inquisitor DPR is nearly double Zen Archer by level 10 or so.
I noticed the video also didn't really factor accuracy at all. That also pushes classes with things like divine power and study target ahead of the rest on average, which should matter a lot given high stats of enemies in this game.
There was also brief mention of penetrating strikes, but not of Align Weapon completely bypassing all DR with no limit, not costing a feat and being castable on other party members.
Most effective archers should be Sacred Slayer and Warpriest.
For Rowdy why did you chose Brightborn and Hunter?
How do Eldritch Archers make a full attack with Ranged Spellstrike? The ability says they only get one free attack?
I played an Eldritch Archer in Kingmaker, so forgive me if the information I have is different in WotR (currently playing a paladin because of course), it was the most disgustingly OP thing I've ever seen, even if the choice of spells were very limited.
The ranged spellstrike was simple enough, when you have it activated it gives you a penalty to your attacks but whenever you cast a spell that makes a **single target ranged spell roll** (read Snowball, scorching ray, hellfire ray, disintegrate), instead of it just casting the spell, you make a full round attack (with all the attacks it implies) using your weapon attack bonus on things (instead of a spell attack), and if it hits, the first strike will be an arrow attack (which applies all the bonuses from your weapon/feats and whatnot) and it will be as if you also cast the spell and hit with it, so all the rays of a scorching ray will hit, they can crit if your bow crit, all that stuff.
What ends up happening is that you get to do like 500 damage+ on a single turn if you get a crit with your first attack when you cast a spell. It is insane, I loved every second of it.
And I played a full 20 eldritch archer build, it can be even more insane if you min/max
Rowdy with crossbow, str dump skill monkey. Lots of damage early game, then falls off a bit until you get all improved vital strike feats.
How about a Legend Path build with Rowdy 20, Vivisectionist 20?

Which do you think is better for Lann? Faith Hunter or Cult Leader?
They are both fantastic. It just depends on the scenario. Cult Leaders really need to go first or they lose a lot of effectiveness. Faith Hunters are good in any round. But killing things faster in the first turn, may be better so it's hard to say haha.
Can someone explain me "weapon finesse" and "composite" tags in weapon?? If my archer is using a longbow that does not have "composite" tag, is he using his DEX modifier to do damage??
Weapon finesse let's you add dex modifier to your damage, composite bow let's you add strength modifier to your damage with range attacks
weapon finesse = a weapon you're able to use DEX for hit instead of STR
Composite (long and short)bow = add STR modifier to dmg (dex to hit with ranged stuff by default)
Normal bows only do the basic weapon dmg, composite adds STR, crossbows can't be composite (unless some magical variant I don't know of)
Trying to theory craft a sohei with a hunter style pet at range. He has the flurry and doesnt get that ki arrow thing, also gets a pet and gets godly initiative checks, I really think a sohei archer could rival a zen archer with the benefits of getting a cool pet
I messed around with this as well, but it seems like Zen Archer outperforms it because it does 4d8 damage at level 20 + other bonuses per shot, even if it's one less shot.
Bows seem really op is this normal or do all my other builds suck ?
I'm running a ranger, guess he's not one of the best for ranged. he rarely gets touched just snipes from long distance

I did a 10 Armiger/10 Hellknight (Nail) Archer, I have a lot of feats and 41 AC since I can wear heavy armor for free basically. Just snap shot all the people around me

Yes. I just made 5 Builds but there are many more you can make.
Fighters are usually used to dip in a few levels (for weapon spec. or proficiencies), maybe mutation warrior could work pure (they're usually dipped 5 levels).
Pathfinder is usually all about splashing classes though, to exploit synergies.
is it just me or in real time combat characters don't seem to get all the attacks as you do in turn based combat? Even when not moving they seem to fire less.
So are you liking the tentacles so far ? Do you have a preferred type of tentacles? Would the mentioned tentacles be suited for a beginner? How would you rate these tentacles to others ?
no zen archer/primal druid ? its quite fun(massive buffs) and you have a pet to anoy anemies :p
You can use flurry of blows with rapid shot and manyshot on a sohei.
But not with a Bow though right?
@@Fextralife yes with a bow, after they get weapon training which makes flurry of blows apply to whatever weapon they have training with.
Sohei monk archers are stupid good. But since they don't get as much free feat as Zen Archers they only catch up to them around level 7 or so, but from that point on they start to completely outshine them. Manyshot+rapid shot+flurry+weapon training is nuts.
@@Imnospy plus an animal companion, which defaults to horse if you start as monk, but if you pick a different class first you get to continue to level whichever one you want.
Bad news. Manyshot doesn't work while flurrying with the Sohei. Rapid shot works tho. Not sure if this is intended or not from Owlcat's end since Sohei monks can definitely use manyshot while flurrying in the PnP version but whatever.

Lann... Just Lann is the best archer. I cannot stress how OP Zen archers are in the game and in the TTRPG game.

I don't think vital strike works with ranged weapons. I leveled Wenduag in Rowdy to give her sneak attacks but when I use vital strike she deals no damage.

What about 11 Zen Archer + 9 Vivisectionist? Many attacks, sneak attack, Mutagens, spells
The issue here is that your Unarmed Attack Damage stops at Zen Archer 11 if you multiclass here. I mean you could do it anyway to gain Sneak Attack, but it would probably be better to just not go Zen Archer and go with something else and use Rapid Shot/Manyshot instead.
great guide, can you make the same for barbarian?
Barb (instincual warrior) 16, fighter (mutagen) 4, go falchion or scythe for mega crits. You can go Trickster mythic path with this for hilarious stuff (spells and skills). High STR (18>22) and WIS (17>18), decent(14) DEX and CON, dump INT to 10 and CHA to 7.

Try a strength-based Eldritch Scion/Dragon Disciple build. At first Mythic rank, you can sacrifice a Mythic feat to gain Greater Enduring Spells and cast all your buff spells only once per day. The best combo is Enlarge Person, Cat's Grace, and Bull's Strength.
@@jamesbrice3267 I was thinking something more along the lines of bloodrager with the dual bloodlines (said bloodlines being abyssal and arcane) mythic thing. That way i get 10 bloodline feats. Where im personally stumped is where do i put the rest of the normal feats (and all of the new mythic stuff we're getting) one would normally get

Anyone with the Greater Enduring Spells Mythic ability can easily negate the penalty for Rapid Shot by casting Cat's Grace.

I've gotta stop watching these guides. I'm yet to get out of Act 1 as I keep rolling new chars haha. But as someone who loves ranged chars, this might do the trick for me :)
You can respec in the game without starting over. Look for a dude named Hilor at the tavern in Act 1 and choose the 'need training' option. The only thing you can't change is your Mythic path once you get to the point that was chosen.

Lann working as intended. Later you can give him the Cleaving Shot mythic feat and if he crits or kills something he'll blast nearby enemies with shrapnel.

Oh no. I gave my Zen Archer Rapid Shot and Many Shot.... I guess I need to re-spec right?
Respec is bugged at the moment and breaks various story flags in late game - devs just announced this, so definitely avoid respeccing for a while.
Honestly Zen Archer is best to just dip three levels max since the rest doesn't stack or commits too hard (most monk subclasses have this), if you want more monk, better go Sohei (max lvl 11) and splash something with fightery class.
Unless they have changed it in a recent patch you can't use Vital Strike with ranged combat, I tired. Character just flails with the bow/crossbow
