    Ok a few things about this, most of which i assume have been changed through patches since this video was made, the build still works, mostly, but changes have rendered it a lot more jankey to get going, especially early on. Firstly Intimidating prowess is no longer a bloodline feat, so in order to make this work with the same ending feats you need to save power attack for your level 7 bloodline feat which means swapping some later feats in earlier, i went for the arcane armour feats, sadly this means no cleave in the early levels and you essentially take two feats at level 1 that are all but useless until level 9.
    Secondly, as i'm playing it through right now it appears that the untyped DR from Indestructable Bones and One of Us don't stack, it just uses the higher value from Indestructable Bones, so i'd recommend switching out either one of them. Indestructable Bones is better DR-wise, but it takes up one of the rarer Lich Power slots which has a lot of good alternatives so it might be worth sacrificing the additional 5 DR to take something like Eclipse Chill since the nonstacking -2 to attack debuff is kinda meh, but then again the +4 to spell saves against undead casters from One of Us isn't exactly great either, i can only think of two major undead casters in the game and one of them The Siabrae can just be bypassed by a lich coversation option.
    Finally as several other commenters have pointed out, you can't pick Eldritch Knight until you have level 3 spells, which you won't by level 10, you need your mythic 3 spellbook merge first. If you hit level 10 earlier than the Mythic 3 point you'll have to delay levelling up to 10 until you've gotten it and merged, it shouldn't be too long though since even if you max exp gains you'll still only hit 10 in Drezen, the earliest i've managed to do it is at the start of the siege.

    My favorite part of the RP of the build is that you start off basic. Im tempted to start most of my builds now with 3-4 levels of fighter (or a simple class) just because I like the idea for the game that your character doesn't think there is anything special about them. By the time you get to the end of Kenabres, the character would start class swapping. Great idea!

    Awesome build, I’m following the guide in the current version and it’s been a blast to use. Still totally viable and you can just respec after taking drezen if you want to take the melee feats at level 1, which I highly recommend since it makes act 1 a lot less of a slog.
    Small note though, they might have updated the spell but in the current version legendary proportions doesn’t work on undead - which makes it a lot less useful for anyone using the lich companions. If you are I’d recommend swapping it out for something else as by act 5 you won’t have anyone to cast it on.

    it could use some more fleshing out, and the level that you have noted as taking both Cornugon Smash and Intimidating Prowess isn't possible to do as neither feat can be taken as a bloodline feat for either of the bloodlines, so you can't take both at lv.7 unless you give up taking Mythic Power Attack

      @@zifnabdr I've made some minor changes in the first 10 levels (still playing), what i did was: I didnt pick Human, i picked Half-Orc for the STR Bonus since it's a melee build and the Orc skill that lets you keep fighting below 0 HP fits with the asthetics of the build, i completly skipped Outflank since you dont get a +1 bonus feat (Human racial), The Second mythic Power i choose to get an extra feat for the intimidating presence and choose not to take a +5 (which is actually a +2 - since the default skill gives you +3) in Power attack because i feel It wouldnt have that big of an impact. I also choose mutation Warrior because of the STR Bonus. It works great and with all +STR you get you deal an insane amount of melee dmg. I'm also using a heavy flail because most of them have a Evil alignment buff (Neutral Evil character), but any 2h weapon will do actually, It goes with what you prefer. If you want to make a Full Arthas like character use a 2H sword and go human and you can skip Outflank and use the mythic Power attack or do what i did.

    Great build.
    A good alternative if someone doesnt want to go with Dragon Disciple is to pick Arcane Bloodline and later on pick it's ascendance. Its capstone makes it so you automatically succeed on combat casting rolls, so you can cast in melee without provoking attacks of opportunity and chance of failure. And with how many good conal spell are there, wooo boy thats a lotta damage. And Dragon Disciple can be replaced with Hellknight Signifier for this spell failure reduction. Sorcerous Reflexes is also a good mythic feat for this more caster-y variant of the build, first spell you cast per combat is a swift action (it has spell level restriction though).

    Thanks for putting this together! I'm doing a run where my main character is a paladin, but I hired a merc and used your "Unhittable Tank" Barbarian/Rogue build, and it worked like a charm! They are only level 10 so far in my run, but that tank build is terrific, and paired up well with my main character's DPS. So I'm really stoked you put together a Death Knight build! I was so impressed with that tank I can't wait to give this a try! I already prepped a Dhampir Necromancer for my 2nd run so I could try out the Lich path, and this Templar looks like he'll be the right hand man like that tank was for my Paladin!

    A couple of relevant changes from points people have made.
    1. Intimidating Prowess is not an option at level 7
    2. A single level dip in steelblood bloodrager completely negates arcane spell failure in heavy armor. I would take this at level 5 and use the feat I save from not needing arcane armor training/mastery to pick up intimidating prowess.
    3. If you haven't hit mythic rank 3 by the time you hit level 10, take another level of sorcerer to be able to access Eldritch Knight.
    The steelblood dip might be patched as it is supposed to only apply to bloodrager spells. Make sure to make a back up save before you take it.

    • @tenukkiut
      @tenukkiut 3 роки тому

      Taking a single dip of steelblood at 5 messes up the whole build because you don't get level 3 spells in time for the eldritch knight, unless you mean to push the whole build back a level i.e. 3 Mutwar/1 cbsorc/1 SB br/2 cbsorc/4 DD/10 eldritch knight?

  • @Ericcarlson44

    Tried this out in the latest version of the full game. Cool build but there are a few things I would update/change:
    On core and up spellcasting is very DC hungry (enemies have high save stats) and with the build as-is your spell DC will be too low and they will be making all of their saves. I would suggest taking expanded arsenal and mythic spell focus instead of mythic weapon specialization and spell pen. Between gear and the CL of a merged caster build you’ll already have plenty of penetration and with all of the lich buffs and powers you’ll also have plenty of damage and attack roll bonuses which makes an extra +4 damage negligible. Conversely it is much harder to universally raise DC except through raw stats and feats. For similar reasons I would mostly pump CHA with maybe 2 extra points in STR at most. You don’t really even need the improved critical feat now since there’s a spell that makes all your weapons keen.
    It can also be fun to dip titan fighter instead of mutation warrior if you want to dual wield 2H weapons. Normally its hard to dip because of the penalties but as a lich it shouldnt be a problem. Taking a bloodrager dip at level 20 also eliminates the need for arcane armor training for medium armor users gives you extra movement speed and gives you some extra attack bonuses via rage.

      Interesting takes on things, don't agree with all of them but there's definitely a lot you've mentioned here that i do find intruiging. When i play i generally also forgo Bolshy's Spell Pen and Evocation focus suggestions, because you're really not going to be hitting things with any spells other than Bone Explosion/Exsanguinate/Life Siphon/Feast/Negative Eruption, all of which are Lich mythics so they ignore Spell resistance. So i agree with you on dropping all the SpellPen feats and mythic, and it makes sense to pump Necromancy focus and add the mythic instead, but that would also make Expanded Arsenal moot.
      Though i definitely disagree on pumping CHA instead of STR, this is a melee focused character and the vast majority of your damage comes from your weapon attacks. While i do often drop a Feast of Blood or Exsanguinate as a quickened spell in combat, especially if i can finish a target with it to get the Skeletal Finger refresh, the percentage of time i'm hitting things with my weapon vastly outweighs the time i'm firing off spells, and if that +4 AB is the difference between me hitting Areshkagal with my 2nd or 3rd strike and missing her, that's not just the +6 damage from the STR that i'm missing out on it's the entire hit's damage. A side note to add is that in the early levels before you have Frightful Aspect, Fear Control will be your primary way of inflicting shaken, and the DC for that is based in part on your highest skill modifier, so dropping points out of strength will affect that as well.
      I was very excited to hear you mention a spell that makes weapons keen and i looked into it, sadly i don't have the latest DLC and unlike the nerfs/buffs to items and classes they don't allow owners of the base game to get access to the new spells, which sucks. One thing i would note though is that actually getting Improved Critical as a feat is a requirement to get the Improved Critical mythic, which is a pretty devastating addition to your crit damage modifier, especially if you're using Falchions and critting on the regular.
      Finally the Bloodrager idea i really like. I have never really gotten on with Arcane Armour Training, it feels like a massive waste, and even if you get both feats you're still stuck with a 5% chance to fail. I haven't actually played a Bloodrager before, but reading the fextralife for the class it sounds like they unlock the ability with just a single level in the class? In which case it sounds like a very good replacement for that leftover level, though it'd probably have to be taken before 20, around level 12 or 13 maybe, when you're just starting to want to cast spells in combat rather than just taking your armour off before the fight to prebuff.

      @@Arkaine197I only mention the str to cha change because he goes through the trouble of speccing into evocation taking a draconic bloodline and then adding the cold spell ring but all of that is pretty useless if your dc is too low to use those spells effectively. Especially in the dlcs save stats are pretty high so it becomes an issue. If you only use those mythic spells i would agree it’s not a problem. I personally haven’t had a problem hitting enemies with slightly lower strength. Fear control might be an issue before act five though, that’s true
      Yes I guess you’d have to take the bloodrager dip earlier but I think it’s worth it. Not only do you get armored spell casting but there are also several items that boost your attack rolls when raging giving you a pretty substantial bonus altogether, and the +10 movement speed is nice as well. I end up taking it on a lot of gish builds now.

      A few tips, since unfortunately Bolshy doesnt seem to be around to update his builds anymore. Intimidating Prowess has been removed from the dragon bloodlines feats in the patches since this build was made, so you won't be able to take it at level 7. But neither it, nor Cornugon Smash are actually necessary for the build, so you can drop them both and pick up whatever you want at level 7 instead, i'd recommend combat reflexes as the regular feat and improved initiative as the bloodline feat.
      Secondly, in order to progress levels the way the guide shows, you'll need to hit mythic 3 and merge your spellbook BEFORE levelling up to level 10, otherwise you won't be able to enter Eldritch Knight because you won't have level 3 spells yet, so if you do hit level 10 before you reach that portion of the game just leave the level-up unclaimed for a bit, unless you're exp abusing it shouldn't be for long.
      Thirdly and i can't stress this enough, take Fear Control as your first Lich Power, not the second, this is what replaces your need for Cornugon Smash and will make it so that your Death Knight has no problems hitting anybody, even the crazy high AC enemies in Blackwater.

I have about 2000 hours logged on Wotr and this build has been my absolute favourite to play through with so i like helping people navigate around still using it despite the changes. To be fair, you're still pretty unkillable using this, even without the 15 DR/- . You can still pick up the 5/- from One of Us at mythic 3, and that'll be the same time that you get False Grace and Vampiric Blade, False Grace stacks with False life and False Life Greater for a massive hp pool and add that to the absurd healing on Vampiric Blade, you're never going down in a fight.
      But yeah i'm really sad that Bolshy is gone too, i only just found his channel about a month or two after he disappeared, and i'm actually doing my first playthrough of Kingmaker atm with his Dragonknight build. I can recommend CRPbro as another guy who does good builds for Wotr, but he's significantly more "meta" than Bolshy was, so a lot of his builds do tend to end up treading a lot of the same ground, still it's worth checking him out if you're wanting some builds for a new class that you haven't tried yet or something.

I spent a feat to get the martial weapon proficiency. My spells are largely focused on Necromancy spells and some buffs that help buff my defenses and melee attacks. I have them highly specialized in fighting with a scythe. I'm having a lot of fun with this character.

    I really like the build concept and it would seem like it'd also be pretty effective from start to finish, I just started a playthrough on Core following the guide (or at least the rough outline). However, by my reckoning (I'm by no means experienced in the game) there's at least one change that would make it both stronger and arguably more thematic: go with greataxes instead. Right, one of the deities has flail focus, but if we're going for Warcraft-style death knights, surely the most thematic option would be [long,bastard,great] swords (Frostmourne), and the second option would be greataxes (like Shadowmourne) and scythes (like Grim Reaper). And as it happens, Grave Singer seems like a really amazing greataxe, what with 18-20(3x) crit range and all.
    Also, I would like to have a warhorse like the Death Knight hero in WarCraft 3: Is there a reasonable way to squeeze one in (Gendarme?)? Would you actually be able to level the pet (I don't quite understand how that mechanic works)? I would like to have suggestions on that count.

    • @Arkaine197
      @Arkaine197 Місяць тому

      Just curious, what are you casting? Mostly my level 1-10 casts are all prebuffs which i can just take my armour off before the fight to cast. I've actually tried the build with Arcane armour as the initial feats before (in order to hit all the build feats because intimidating prowess is no longer a bloodline feat so i switched it with power attack) and the loss of early cleave utterly gimped my ability to be useful in the early game, so i absolutely didn't think it was worth it, but i'm curious to hear your take on it.

  • @climhazzard115

    Man, even though it has a low crit range, I feel like this build would be fun with that sweep scythe you can get at the beginning of act 2. Well, a little more reaper than death knight, but practically the same thing. The low crit range is probably compensated by the fact that you hit multiple enemies, especially if it sweeps your full crit range when enlarged or under legendary proportions.

    You would get a lot more value out of Enduring Casting and Greater Enduring Casting that you do out of Abundant Casting. Once your buffs are up you won't have to cast them again, and the left over spell slots work for casting spells when they are better than melee for you.

    Hey, thanks for the cool build. Excited to try it out on my next run. A couple quick questions:
    1. Does it matter which bloodline you pick as the primary and secondary for crossblooded levels? Will the mythic bloodline ascendance feat be able to get One of Us if Undead is secondary?
    2. If I take the single level dip in Steelblood, do I trade an arcane caster level to do that? I don't think bloodrager and sorcerer share the same spellbook.
    Thanks again for the cool builds!

    • @JondarKorric
      @JondarKorric 2 роки тому +1

      it does matter which one is primary as you only gain the features of the primary bloodline, the secondary bloodline gives you it's spells and added class skills but none of the other features (IE if White Dragon is your secondary you'll get the spells but not the things like the stat increases or dragon claws/bite). you can however pick either bloodline for Bloodline Ascendance

    the combined spellbooks are bonkers. just finished an Angel playthrough, with sohei 9/eclesiurge 11 basiclly a full spellcaster with 8 attacks per round on a reach 2hander. about 90-120 a swing pure holy damage. and I was very surrpried to learn that the holy blade works with enduring spells. so a normal round is: cast a lvl 7 or lower spell (prayer, bolt of judgement, wall of light) hit with 8 attacks (or 9 because of extra attack for monk). it also also gets a fully leveled animal companion and the BAB is a bit low but you have a ton of buffs to fix that (bastion of the faithful at lvl nine is bonkers, also the usual good stuff for cleric and a buff for 5d6 extra holy damage and about 5 tohit from angelform and bless/holy hymn) the lightspeed upgrade for holy sword just makes it so great and in the very end you can even fit in for it to grant that buff to the whole team (you loose maximized damage and healing though) and being able to aoe heal about 70hp as a swift action is hard to pass up.

    I am actually using a similar build for seelah, giving her stat spread and the fact she can respect to lvl 1 allows a wide array of builds for her. Plus my main is a winter witch, so protection from cold energy communal is a great buff saving my team from her frost breath and my ice spells.

  • @adamhenry3928

    Im currently experimenting with respecs at lvl 14 - trying out wizard 5 hks 3 5 ek and just early dip into something with martial weapon proficiencies (2h fighter or stygian slayer seems ok for that reason). At 14 that build seems better - I loose one attack (no biggie as that last attack usually misses where it matters in act 4 anyway) but bab is equal and possible ac is higher due to access to lvl 9 spells already. At 20 your build is probably better tho. Would have to count feats available - u surely gain 1 feat because you dont have to go into arcane armor mastery, not only that its full arcane spell failure removal (assuming u run 25% armor) instead being left with that 5% failure that ur build has.

    actually adding stoneskin to the list of good buffs might be a good idea because that is just even more DR stacking for you, between it, frightful aspect and the lich stuff. and demons just don't have adamantin weapons
