🙋🏻♀️ Representing the 2% LCN Ladies! Using this channel allowed me to bring my circa-1940 “grab-bag” lawn to the best in our neighborhood. My issue isn’t my husband not understanding.... it’s all the compliments HE gets from our neighbors who assume HE does the work! Luckily he gives me all the props. It’s comical to see the looks on their faces when they realize they’ve been dominated by a 33-year-old new mom 😂Thanks for all your help, LCN!
Ha ha! I love it!
People are always telling my husband how beautiful the lawn looks. 😂😂😂
Does he at least bush trim? Or blow or mow?
You go girl...
.
That’s hilarious! Good for you.
I'm lucky that my wife is very supportive of me being obsessed with my lawn.
yes for sure you got a good one! 🤘
Indeed, you are.
Me too. And it gives her some peace and quiet when I'm outside :)
I’ve literally been binge watching your channels and have become a “Lawn Care Nut” myself. I’ve got my husband on board with me and now we enjoy doing this together. Thanks!
Only eight minutes in so far, and this is speaking directly to me. Thanks for everything Alyn, you are truly an inspiration sir.
About 6 weeks ago after the results of a full app of carbon X kicked in. My wife and I were driving up to our house she said "Why does our grass look so green!"
Made me smile inside.
I really enjoy the life lessons you integrate into your content. Keep it up!
I’m at my summer home 24/7 during COVID and will be dominating with Quinclorac for crab and clover, etc during the spring to keep seeding for future nightmares. This was incredibly insightful. Also ordered Humic and RGS for in between fertilization for later in the summer. Thanks Allyn.
I love doing yard work. It's my reward. My goal is not to have the best yard on the street, it's just to have the least embarrassing.
Thanks Allyn.
Greg videos...thankyou...!!
Hey - I've got that KC Lawn Care Nut sticker on my car and my mower! Thanks for the shout-out Allyn!!! I must say we have an awesome, very knowledgeable group here in KC.
I have a hunch that the 2% LCN Ladies is understated. I think there are many women who research and follow, but don't feel the need to comment. We have lived in our house for 21 years now, which has 1.7 acres in SW Ohio. We used to be the envy of the neighborhood with our beautiful KY bluegrass yard. I have hired lawn service for several years, and the lawn looks worse than when I handled it myself. So I cancelled the service. But, our yard is now full of Nut Grass and Crabgrass. I am so frustrated with the lawn trying to keep it looking great. We are right on the line of Allyn's Cool grass / Warm grass. I am ordering the Cool Grass guide tonight, in hopes it can help me get our lawn back to beauty.
I have a small ditch in my backyard. I live in Louisiana, so because of the recent storm, I scalped the ditch to make sure it could drain easier if ift needed. To show the wife and kids some of the results of all the time, energy, and effort that I have spent in the yard, I had them walk in the yard with bare feet. I showed them the delicious spongy, thick grass blades that feel like a massage in between your toes. I showed them how wonderful that felt. Then, I had them walk with bare feet on the super low-cut ditch area (this is about how everyone else in the neighbor regularly cuts their grass). By showing them the difference, I really think that they were able to see the the outcome of my efforts. Thanks for all of your advice and tutelage Mr. Alyn.
Thanks Allyn💪💪💪💪💪
Get a large white board and put it on the door behind you, and put the stickers on that.
I learn something every single podcast. And you know you DO silently chuckle. 🤣🤣
I do!
Soooooooo much information in this episode. Will DEFINITELY listen to more than 2x. Thanks again for your knowledge and wisdom
You could always put up a green screen in your office, and make it look like your in your garage 😂
bring back the old green screen days 😂
Haha hilarious about the wife part. Exactly my situation
Hell yeah! Glad you got the KC Lawn Care Nut sticker!
Great looking sticker
Sun99% thanks. I can’t take credit for that. It was designed by a member and voted on by the group. We just did our first giveaway with the proceeds of the sticker sale and are giving away a Bio Stem Pack.
Nice podcast. Enjoy all the information. Learn so much. It's hot here in NJ so don't feel bad allyn we are all sweating
Gettn my mow on😎👊. Thanks!
Nice one George. Make sure you whinge about the heat and your spluttering mower so you get approval from your better half about that chore that you just did .🤣😂
trevor muggeridge 🤣🤣👌
Great, great, content, enjoyed your show, no bs, no junk mail, super knowledgeable, thanku
Love listening to these podcasts your analytical approach is spot on. Out of all the content you put out I enjoy this style of delivery the most...keep up the good work sir.
thanks bro!
You were speaking to me! Definately struggle to get much love from the work I put into our yard.
Love the vids and podcasts!
Zinc Oxide was the coolest. I remember when it came out in all the colors. I'm a product of high school in the 80s. I also use No-Ad; it stands for "no advertising" so its cheaper. I learned to cover up with an old long sleeve white dress shirts when helping a friends dad work and cover hay. It's actually cooler than no shirt at all.
I heard No Ad also is a bug repellent!
Tenacity gave me a heart attack when i bought it. So did the azoxy powder concentrate(heritage). Like 2 little medicine bottles for $120. But they both work great! Thanks Allyn
Enjoying the mow Includes enjoying the sounds of your mower
One HOUR and 17 minutes?! This is insane! 1:17 video all about grass! I am going have to pace myself.... ;)
I'm sure Siverback taught a thing or two about organization with how Clean he kept the garage
I enjoy the mow to get out of the honey do list. A good lawn can add value to the home.
Finally, I’ve been going through withdrawals
Great info!
What you did was one of the 5 acts of love language. She exemplified acts of service.
I wish these products came in smaller portions. For those with less than 2,000 square feet these products last us 20+ years.
Hey Allyn, thanks for all the free advice. I am putting down the RGS and Air-8 this weekend out of the bio-stimulant pack. Live in Palm Beach County, FL. Watched your chameleon video on settings. Thanks for all you do.
have fun spraying and praying! I applied some MicroGreene and RGS today myself.
So happy to see the video this week. We sure missed you last week LCN
thanks bro
Start wrapping the flamingo in your supporters!!!
Thank you for the Zoysia/crab/torpedo grass tip, I've been fighting a losing battle while changing my back yard from a fescue mix to Zoysia in MD in a manually irritated lawn. I've heard quinclorac will stunt Zoysia so I've refrained from spraying. I can't keep up by hand pulling.
My wife loves when I mow diagonal lines/stripes. I make sure to do it every few mowings. She then takes pride in it and loves that I’m doing it for her. Aka more money and time allowed to be spent on the lawn
The Timemaster is in for service so I'd go into withdrawal if I didn't have bushes to trim, edging, roof cleaning and orchid repotting to do.
I wear the 5.11 tactical Apex pants for work as a firefighter and I absolutely love them. They are a little pricey, but they definitely help keep cool, dry fast, and have great range of motion for active lifestyles! (5.11 not a sponsor haha)
I've actually started faking heat strokes to make sure these mows count. I've never got credit for cutting the grass because I enjoy it. I smell what you stepping in.
You spent 45 minutes advertising and shoutout
What about Trimec is that a good one
oh boy! In before the UA-cam processing engine - gotta love that 360p potato resolution. Just sprayed a bunch of crabgrass yesterday in a small section of the yard yesterday - we'll see if it kills all the bahia along with it. Honestly, I wouldn't be too upset if the Bahia dies along with the crabgrass...
AAA+++ It's tough when you on top of the lawn latter! My lawn looks better than a golf course!! King of the lawn!
@38:52 "...I've seen lawns that are 100% crabgrass...." I just threw up in my mouth.....
I use Jonathan Green Black Beauty grass seed it is the best for my lawn. I live in St Louis and tried almost every brand of seed and Jonathan Green Black Beauty is the best for me.
Had to come back and say- glad you mentioned the skincare aspect- 50 stitches plus in my face so far from Melanoma. Zinc oxide is what you want in a sunscreen I believe. Please look at Dr Dray’s YT video on sunscreens. Some do not protect effectively. Some even claim the cheap ones actually cause skin cancer. Don’t want anyone to suffer from this- esp not one of my mentors.❤️
When a product says not to apply over a certain temp for example 80. Is it ok to apply in the morning if it's under 80 but within a few hours it will be in the 90's.
yes it is but it's not the best idea - better to wait until evening where you have 8-10 hours before it gets back over 85.
Good question!
muxxor I was thinking the same thing
I had really good luck with mature crabgrass last year using the over the counter bio advance with quinclorac and squirt of regular dawn detergent. Amazon would not ship any to me this year for some restriction reason but they did sell me some straight 18+% quinclorac. I just spiked the regular 2-4-D bio advance with .4oz per gallon... can't tell you if worked yet because Alexa told me know rain was expected so I sprayed and then it rained an hour later. I decided to get the stronger quniclorac too because I has some torpedo creeping into my yard from my neighbor's yard. Luckily it is still my my crappy bahia section so if worse comes to worse I can bring out the glyphostate and resold with zoysia next season. I also have some ornemec OTC but I try not to use that as it seems to have a stronger negative effect on the turf... the OTC I got to zap common bermuda out of my zoysia areas. Also, by accident, I found out last year that the quinclorac mix of the bio advance takes out the carpet grass that spots I have been pulling the last few years. It takes a few heavy apps a few weeks apart but it definitely kills it out eventually. I'm not sure if it is the quinclorac of the dicamba in the mix, as I mentioned, it rained an hour after I applied this last week so I cannot confirm.
LCN I just moved to NC from Texas I had a great STAugustine lawn I really want to try something else here at our new house. What would you suggest?
The laptop looks 10x better now 😎
ha ha!
For folks looking for a big box solution Roundup Crabgrass Destroyer, did a great job for my neighbors, looks to be a bleacher like Tenacity.. I’m a Tenacity fan as Allyn said a multi use solution.
I'll have to check that out because that would be cool if they formulated the mesotrione into a spray bottle for DIYers
I like that term “ fat stacks” AL, I resemble that fact
I just put zoysia plugs in this April, I have a significant crabgrass and clover problem. Is it a bad idea to apply pre or post emergents because of the grass type and it being newly planted plugs(~60 days)?
Aylan i live in Michigan cool season grass types and have a important question to ask so if I aerate my lawn and overseed in the fall should I still dethatch my lawn in the spring after winter and put down a starter fertilizer or just fertilize and let it be?
I didn't care for your original Facebook group. The first group the problems that I saw was I would post stuff under my personal profile into the group and it would never be allowed into the group.but yet there was hundreds of photos hundreds of post of other people posting their grasses and how great their grasses well I don't really care about Joe blows grass I care about how to make my grass look better than Joe blows grass. Remember when people are on social media platforms they want to be entertained. So if there's a funny viral video I don't believe that hurts the group it just makes it more engageable. Thanks for changing the Facebook group I appreciate it.
yes for sure it had to change. It got too big too fast. This is how we are attempting to scale it as it grows from here on out.
Another thing to consider when you have a lawn care obsession (hobby), a well maintained lawn and garden adds to your property value. Can't say that about golf or fishing :)
Plus, speaking as one of the 2%ers in this group - what’s with these spouses that are giving you a hard time about your lawn care hobby? Having the unfortunate experience of once being married to an alcoholic, any interest where drugging, drinking or skirt chasing is not involved has no basis for complaint!
Can I till in Pearlite to help hold in moisture?
I have large sections of my yard that are either dead or nothing but weeds. My plan is to till those areas, add compost and reseed. Since I'm already tilling, couldn't I just till in pearlite to hold the water?
I preffered you doing your podcastes in your garage.
I dare anyone, including you LCN, to try Garden Weasel Crabgrass Killer (yes it’s on Amazon) and say it doesn’t work (especially safely on floratam) !! It’s a powder derived from cinnamon tree bark, NO HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS! It’s not cheap but it’s not Tenacity price either! Just be sure to wet the area (crabgrass plant) before sprinkling on the powder. It doesn’t take a real heavy coating, just dust it on. If you sufficiently wetted the area it will turn yellowish. Wait a day (2 at the most) and you will see crabgrass DYING! I know it’s too hard to believe, but.....
Sorry, edited to add - this is only post emergent...
Haha, I am assuming Mrs. Hane doesn't watch your pod cast.
Speaking of love languages. Your wife’s love language could be acts of service.
Tenacity label states it's safe for centipede. What's your thoughts? I have a big crabgrass issue in my centipede lawn.
it will stunt it some but go for it!
LCN the brand 5.11 is pronounced five eleven. Keep up the good work!!👍👍
ha ha yes someone on Twitter told me that too. I guess it proves they are not a sponsor and that I am not really very tactical either 😂
Second question. You have used shampoo for surfactant in the past will it work with tenacity?
I have used it with Auxin herbicides (dicamba, 2-4D) but never with tenacity so I don't know if it will or not. I suspect it's ok.
Site One has stick'em and it goes a long way and not real expensive...get a jug of that and it will last you a looong time.
Cover up from the Sun!
Cover up whether you are North or South.
Does anyone know how to kill invading bentgrass? I’m not near a golf course, but the spots I have keep getting larger each year.
Checking on the Tenacity data you provided. The label I have shows the mix rate at 1 tsp in 2 gallons, not 1 - but that is for spot applications. Is it OK to use the higher rate you stated in some circumstances?
For sure follow what the label on your product states.
I’m one of your female followers and for the most part my wife is supportive. However, I recently used tenacity for several weeds but primarily for crabgrass/invading Bermuda and she is pissed. She absolutely hates that there are random white spots in the lawn. 🤣
I’m doing a new seed renovation. Is there a problem using Scott’s starter with the tenacity chemical plus spraying down for pre emergent or is that just overkill
you would typically use the Scotts starter with mesotirione when you are seeding - if that is the case, then no other pre-emergent should be used.
How can I kill of Kikuyu Grass / Weed?
Would simple grow solutions be a good alternative for the next products? I’d get the next products but they cant ship to Washington where I live.
yes they are very good
Would I rather have crabgrass parkways or cheating wife holidays?
1st!
How do I get rid of my crabs....grass?
Btw, appreciated ball spin at 5:30
A bit of irony. Since my "obsession" with the lawn last fall, my wife has heard me talk about it so much she has started to notice "issues" with the lawn and asks me about them. LOL!!
Ful circle!
Will Air8 break the pre-emerge barrier. if so, how to use Air8 with pre-emerge
no it won't interfere with the pre-emergent so you are all good!
Can you mix quinclorac with Tenacity?
I'm not sure on that one - do a jar test first with a small amount and just make sure they don't foam or bubble
Whats a good grass seed for the Chicagoland area? And where can it be purchased?
BJ Arias seed superstore is good quality seed . Be prepared to be sticker shocked. I’ll tell ya this much, I used seed superstore grass seed on over-seeding my front yard and turned out beautiful. I bought a lot of cheap seed from Home Depot and it turned out horribly. You get what you pay for thougy
That’s my plan this year. I bought Scott’s brand seed in past years which is good, but I really want high quality seed from sss. Hoping for stunning results...
Just a heads up, it appears that Celsius has been discontinued by the manufacturer. I visited a couple of websites I frequently purchase herbicides from, and both are out of stock for this reason. You might can still find it from a few places, but it seems it may be on its way out. Perhaps someone can help confirm.
or maybe they are limiting who gets it? I don't think they would discontinue it for good, but maybe for certain sellers they are getting tighter. Let me know if you hear more. I'll do the same. thank you!
Will tenacity work on torpedo grass? Zone 6b cool season mix.
Where are you? I didn't realize torpedo grass grew in those cooler areas.

@@alec5545 don't know what type of grass you have, but if it can handle quinclorac, get it. That's what I'm going to use. I have it bad.
@@HeavyMetalLawnsAndLandscapes I've been doing more research and I'm starting to think it's actually common bermuda invading my lawn. Any tips for controlling bermuda in a cool season mix of kbg, fescue, ryegrass?
@@alec5545 sorry, no. I am pro Bermuda. I want more of it. Dig up and bring to me.
I have a bottle of quinclorac sitting on my shelf but I dont have methylated seed oil. Can I use baby shampoo, or will this ruin the effectiveness of quinclorac? I have one spot with crabgrass.
you can use baby shampoo and be all good. 2oz/gallon.
@@LawnsAcrossAmerica thank you allyn
28th! Yes!!!!
the mans talking about how he gets to hustle the time away from the old lady on a public pod cast because he knos damn well she ain’t gnna listen, savage
How's Mrs. LCN dealing with the flamingo inside the house?
she tolerates it, for now.
@@LawnsAcrossAmerica Hosed down 3 clumps of crabgrass this past weekend with Celsius. Not expecting much but will observe. If nothing happens I'll go back to the trusty old Asulox which takes out crabgrass in St. Augustine like a champ.
As always super solid tips Al! I really push the long sleeves my self for protection !
I’m not impressed with the Facebook system, I understand that you need to make a living but I would hope by me watching your channel for the past 4 years have helped you propelled you to have your current living situation. I appreciate you giving me the tools through the years to improve my lawn, but unfortunately I will not pay to be a part of the Facebook group. I watch people like you to not pay a subscription to, I was trying to get away from that. But again thank you for my inspiration for making my patch nice!!
yes for sure, and thank you for watching. The FB group is for those that want to be a part of something like that and I realize it isn't for everyone.

First Aussie 😁. Great content this week Al, I learned that some of us are messy approval seeking lawn care nuts who tell white lies to get noticed for our less than macho lawn care hobby. Al, I neally choked on my cup of coffee.😳👍👍
Yo Allyn. Ned from Lowell. Whaddup bro?
hey Bro - hope you are enjoying that ebook!
@@LawnsAcrossAmerica Fo Sho! Read the whole thing right away at work. Im gonna go w the carbonx plan next yr and just bio stim pack along w next ferts until then. You da man!
Yeah not sure about the buy a lawn care guide to join a Facebook page. I've been watching you five years and I buy all my green county products from you but I make my own lawn care plan. Not sure if I need a guide.
agreed, no one truly needs it. If you watch my videos you get everything there - but 10 years worth of content is tough to get through for a new person and they need the guide to help them get started faster, as well as the guide answers questions that come from the vids. The FB group is an added value and it's fun too, but not needed.
@@LawnsAcrossAmerica just saying if your trying to keep the newbie out; you should give the code on a product that's advance like green punch or carbon x. Love what you do. Your the reason a became a lawn nut. Thanks.
Allyn, I'm one of your lady LCNs. Really!!? So now we gotta fake out our spouse's? Why don't we just have them spend a day/job shadow for understanding? I'm sensing a little bit of shade here!
It’s Poa!!! My wife shows her appreciation for the hard work I put into the lawn by parking the garbage cans right on top of it!! Lol as far as relationships go I’m smelling what you are stepping in! I am going to buy your guide. On top of all the money I spend on your website it’s the least I can do to support you. You have given me so much over the last 4 years I am truly grateful.
GO GATORS!!!!!
I don’t think she believes it’s a chore for you ha ha
Sucks about the closed Facebook group.
It's mainly for support of the e-guide. If you don't need the guide you probably won't need the group either.
I just tell my wife that my lawn hobby is a lot cheaper, and healthier than cocaine and hookers.
You think your wife doesn't understand you? Try being a woman explaining to her girlfriends why she is out at 6am, hand-pulling quack weed. And, it took me all summer to finally get my husband to understand why I wanted to mow twice a week and tall, not short like a golf course..
First!
