The plan to get a group together for the race including folks from around the country sounds awesome. I am a long time subscriber of both you and cleetus. Watching you two together has been a blast. I love the content, keep it coming!

I saw Lake house lawn guy last month on my feed. I knew he was from my area so I decided to see how he does his lawn. Very cool.

I was a little late to this episode but glad I caught up with it! It is so true about being critical of your own lawn but others not seeing it. I have come to accept there are things beyond my control and I do the best I can and I enjoy the mow and I enjoy the process and I love enjoying my lawn as it is. I still try to improve it of course but I am not going to obsess about nature doing it’s thing! BTW glad you are taking charge of your health. We need you LCN ! Looking forward to your new content!!

Great video Allyn! I agree on the POA - dig it up or pull it, if I can avoid using chemicals and also killing good grass, I always choose that option.

thanks doing the poa segment. I like your approach and you broke it down nicely making feel a bit more hopeful about my poa issue, i'll start hand digging out clumps here and there (and seeding/soding those patches) and just take it 1 year at a time and eventually I'll hopefully have the yard I'm wanting.

you are on the right track! Make those incremental improvements along the way and before you know it you'll be an expert and everyone will be asking you how you did it! I'm serious about that. it will happen! 👍

Allyn -- After watching this video, I'm not certain that the grass in part of my lawn is actually POA. I thought it was because it has seed pods on the tops. But it's the same dark green as the rest of the lawn. It's not light green or yellowish as you describe. Any idea of what it might be, other than POA? My lawn was originally sodded with KBG when the house was built in 2019, but I overseeded with Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra in the fall of 2020. Would love to hear your suggestions on what this might be.

I am going to be cutting out my whole front yard with a sod cutter next week and will replant shortly after.. I have a starter fertilizer with mesotrione in it would that work just as well as blanket spraying the area?

My personal experience has been indecisiveness. It's so hard to pick seeding over preM because we want it all, right? Your strategy makes the most sense and focusing on individual issues is the best route to remediation.

Hey Allyn not sure where the best place to ask this is, but I just got my soil test results and have very high calcium number, 1019. My sulfur is 110, and PH is 7.53. How do I go about getting these numbers in more optimal range? Most other numbers are good except N K and Fe but I know how to address those. I live in the Phoenix AZ area and have a hybrid Bermuda lawn. Thank a bunch.

you don;t have to worry about lowering anything that is high. Just let the grass use what it wants. All good!

Allen I luv ya but.... your strategy of 'dig it out' for poa has to be taken with a grain of salt... how Big is the yard and how bad is the poa. I venture to say those w larger lawns and larger poa invasions can't dig it out... its absolutely impossible. I used pre emergent last fall, 2apps and still was absolutely run over with poa this spring. I did a heavy overseed with Beyond KBG last week. Beyond labels itself as a poa fighter based on several tests due to its aggressive growth. I'll push its growth thru years end and pray. I'll go with pre emergent AGAIN this fall and again in the spring... and hope it works. PS.... dont 4 get the poa in the planter beds....gotta kill that too

    • @Thelawncarenut

I am with you on the larger lawns deal - bigger lawn, bigger problems - Mo Money Mow Problems too I suspect lol. But yeah there are alot of ways to go with it. Another good alternative that is becoming more available is the glyphosate tolerant Scotts ProVista KBG.
